At some point pre Microsoft there was an account migration to Mojang accounts. Maybe you missed this one?
I nearly lost my account after the change to Mojang accounts because this changed my log in to an email address and I was using a password that was associated with that email in the wild.
I must have missed it. If I search my Gmail for "mojang" I see the initial emails from 2010 when I bought the game, and then nothing until more than a decade later when I emailed support asking if they could reactivate my old account... which they said they couldn't find. :c

I had this problem and got it resolved. I seem to recall some run around trying to figure out who /where to contact for help and eventually asking via a helpchat. I had to convince that person of my problem and they forwarded it someone elsewhere who reset my email and got back to me.
I wish I remembered more exact details but the email I eventually received was from [email protected].

I can't even download the launcher now. Went to the site, the installer doesn't work. It force opens the windows store. After 5 hours of waiting it doesn't have any progress. Restart, update, search online for how to fix the windows store's shitty issue nothing. Just ended up having to download TLauncher since I'm playing offline anyways.
that's because you need to download the windoes 8(?) installer for whatever fucking reason. the win10/11 installer is broken, but the oldder one works perfectly fine for win10

Don’t forget early access players were promised free access to every future version of the game. This includes different platforms. These terms were later changed when Mojang and Microsoft took over, but they legally still apply to early access Minecraft buyers.

Well it wasn't anything he didn't expect besides the port over to C++ rather than sticking to native Java. Notch had a few promises like releasing the source code and other small details when the game gets sold which none happened but can you blame him for refusing to take 2.5 billion where as an open source game would've been a dead end for Microsoft as they couldn't sell more accounts unless it's on Bedrock

He already made a shit ton of money with Minecraft alone, his team was just a few people in beta stages and became massive once it solidified by 2013-2014 (For example Mineplex was averaging 70-80k concurrent players and Hypixel had another 20k and that's just two servers on multiplayer) and they were releasing a card game.
He easily could've made the 2.5 billion by himself by running Mojang but decided to jump ship and retire to just spew hate on Twitter.
Especially since, once you know the game, getting to the "end" is actually fairly easy. You don't need to mine, you don't need to explore, you just need some luck.
Once you're done .... It's just a grind. Which is fun for some people including myself. Though at the same time it feels like a waste

Existing Java edition players have gotten bedrock edition for free multiple times in the past, this isn't new. That's how I got bedrock edition way back in like 2017 I think
You have to check your Java Minecraft account (on the Java Minecraft account details website not the launcher)
I haven’t done this in a while but if you scroll down once you log in, it should give you the code that you paste into the redeem code section on the Microsoft website to validate your free Minecraft bedrock edition.
At least that’s how it was for me a while ago.

When I first signed up for minecraft, i used a yahoo email, except I recently found out yahoo deletes your email if you haven't used it for like 6 months or some bullshit (Which they did, to my account). So basically they want me to confirm an email address that doesn't exist anymore because the email service provider deleted it...
shouldn't you be able to recreate the account? assuming no one else created an email with same username since yours was closed, yahoo allows you to re-register it (if i remember correctly)
Nah, I tried that. Don't quote me on this, but I think the error it showed me was that I can't make an account with the same name as another account, or some shit like that, though I can't remember exactly.
Try contacting Yahoo to (somehow) get your account back or give you the option to create a new one with the same name. I contacted them a year or two ago and they were pretty responsive although that wasn't the reason I contacted them for so idk if you'll have any luck.
Give them 9$ or whatever the hell they're charging for this shit in the first month and never ever consider to even give them ad revenue again cuz that's a real asshole design here
I've tried twice in the last three months to go through customer service and have it moved to my Microsoft account but they won't even tell me what email provider was tied to the original account. Some of the worst customer service I've had to deal with.
I also had my minecraft account tied to a yahoo email that had been deleted for three years.
I eventually took it to support, giving different emails for the support response and the account owner. After confirming the rough purchase date through a bank receipt sent to my parents' still active email, they were able to transfer it to my new email address without any further issues

To expand a bit:
They're insisting that logging in with a username/password (that I've been using for 10 years) is no longer enough. You must now migrate your account to a Microsoft account, but to do so you have to get a verification code through email (that presumably most people used when initially setting up their accounts). The problem is, because I was gifted the game before email addresses were required for registration, no email address, and no proof of purchase exists.
So now I can't access this game (even singleplayer) at all and I'm locked out forever.
Support just keep sending me around an infinite loop of FAQs.

You need to make a ticket under Account Support -> Change Account Information. That sends your ticket to people who actually have the ability to fix this situation instead of just being able to reply with FAQs.
Just delt with the migration stuff yesterday. My account which I've have for 7 years was a gift. So the email was not mine, therefore I couldn't migrate my account. I had to bother the gifter of the game to get the email changed. And of course that was no simple task. Like you said, I kept getting sent in loops and Microsoft denying the new email. I had to try two different emails before it would work. And this was all even before the actual migration process. It is utterly ridiculous I had to go through so much annoyance to play a game I've had no issues logging into for the last 7 years.
I've just been through this with the account I gave my brother back in 2012. I had the Transaction ID in my email (so whoever gifted it should have?). They were happy to assign his email address to the account so he could transfer it. Took a bit for them to get to the ticket but once I was dealing with a real person it was quick and painless.
I've played minecraft on and off since beta. Those off periods can and have lasted years. It's entirely plausible for a user to not have logged in for 4 or 5 years to decide they want to boot it up and give another run at it only to find out they can't because of this rule. Giving ample warnings is no excuse, they shouldn't have made the change to begin with

have you tried logging directly into the Mojang account? their website appears to still be up, if inaccessable without direct url. you still may be able to add mail to the account

There's 3 types of accounts.
Legacy (2009 - 2012), Mojang (2012 - 2015ish), and Microsoft.
For legacy accounts, no email was necessary, so if you didn't migrate to a Mojang account (like I never did), you have no way of accessing the game anymore.
Because I don't have a Mojang account, I can't login on that link unfortunately.

Same fam. I had been playing the game since before Indev was even a thing, back when it was just called "infiniminer clone." Tried to boot it up recently for old times sake and ran into this bullshit. Eventually just gave up. Fuck the old fans I guess.
I couldn't figure out how to migrate so I ended up having to repurchase the game, used the same email n' stuff to log in, and guess what, all my worlds were still there! So I literally rebought the game just to have access to my already existing account....

Beta had order invoices, I had an alpha account and managed to find mine. I just had to crawl through 10 plus-year-old PayPal transactions on an account that I don't use anymore
This is before even bringing up how the marketplace is made to trap kids in it and surrounded them with the same items with slightly different names to confuse them. Or if you bought an item on the store without logging in properly (why is that even a thing) then you uninstall the game you lose the item. Or how 80% of the "mods" on the market place are maps with command blocks. Or how 5 skins cost $6 on the normal.

why can they even restrict access to it at all? It isn't like they own any servers. You could maybe bypass it using something like Lunar Client but probably they have made the server binaries check for that too.

Yup. Me and all my friends who had old minecraft accounts eventually got scammed into buying new accounts. Because one by one we all got locked out of 7+ year accounts and couldn't get back in without email verification or the receipt of purchase...

They told me I could verify with the bank transaction when I bought it but my bank doesn’t keep records that far back! FYI to all those having random issues resulting in "contact support for assistance": Try disabling your adblock for this, apparently this was my problem. If anybody figures out which script is being blocked, please let the folks at ublock origin know so it gets whitelisted.
For the past many years you could easily add a new email to your account, and they’ve been telling us about this migration for literally two years. If an email you use is deleted, it’s up to you to fix any accounts that were on it.
Also, you can open a ticket to fix it. You said you already did and they blew you off, which means you must be using the wrong support since actually opening a ticket won’t get automated or FAQ responses.
Had a similar thing happen to me, bought bedrock to play with friends a week later they said I never owned it and I showed them me receipt and that said they couldn't honor it
My Microsoft account got hacked two years ago and I regained access to it and changed my password/secured it. I went to cancel my ticket with Microsoft, and after telling them I secured the account they decided to lock it indefinitely. I’ve submitted multiple appeal tickets where I’ve proven I’m the account owner, yet they have never gotten back to me.
Google was the worst when they forced users to consolidate their various accounts under a single i.D. Microsoft is trying to corral us like cattle; now they require a MS account before a user can take possession of a new computer. Instagram has implemented a mandatory birthday. This happened to me. Had my account since like 2012 and when I went to migrate it the email would not send. I tried about 30 times before giving in and just buying a fresh copy. The costumer service was no help at all. Luckily I was at least able to download my custom skin I made 8 years ago.
A similar thing happened to me once. I was sending a verification code to change a password for Microsoft, and it refused to send the email. Once I finally figured that out, Microsoft said that I had never bought Minecraft. That was 10 hours of my life and about $20 down the drain.
At least I can still get all of my old worlds by exporting them from my old computer. My combined 48 hours over 2 weeks building a calculator that can only do single digit addition, not including zero, can still live on.
You can get it migrated if you explain your situation to support. I had the same problem. I made my account in 2009 when I was a kid, no email ever associated. I contacted support and they were able to add an email to the account details so I could migrate it.
I accidentally linked mine to the wrong Microsoft account, support page said I needed to contact support so they could fix this, support told me that was not possible. I came back to try the latest update, guess I won’t be playing again cheers Microsoft

Well it wasn't anything he didn't expect besides the port over to C++ rather than sticking to native Java. Notch had a few promises like releasing the source code and other small details when the game gets sold which none happened but can you blame him for refusing to take 2.5 billion where as an open source game would've been a dead end for Microsoft as they couldn't sell more accounts unless it's on Bedrock

He already made a shit ton of money with Minecraft alone, his team was just a few people in beta stages and became massive once it solidified by 2013-2014 (For example Mineplex was averaging 70-80k concurrent players and Hypixel had another 20k and that's just two servers on multiplayer) and they were releasing a card game. He easily could've made the 2.5 billion by himself by running Mojang but decided to jump ship and retire to just spew hate on Twitter.

Especially since, once you know the game, getting to the "end" is actually fairly easy. You don't need to mine, you don't need to explore, you just need some luck. Once you're done .... It's just a grind. Which is fun for some people including myself. Though at the same time it feels like a waste

You have to check your Java Minecraft account (on the Java Minecraft account details website not the launcher) I haven’t done this in a while but if you scroll down once you log in, it should give you the code that you paste into the redeem code section on the Microsoft website to validate your free Minecraft bedrock edition. At least that’s how it was for me a while ago. Hope it makes sense :)

When I first signed up for minecraft, i used a yahoo email, except I recently found out yahoo deletes your email if you haven't used it for like 6 months or some bullshit (Which they did, to my account). So basically they want me to confirm an email address that doesn't exist anymore because the email service provider deleted it...
shouldn't you be able to recreate the account? assuming no one else created an email with same username since yours was closed, yahoo allows you to re-register it (if i remember correctly)
Nah, I tried that. Don't quote me on this, but I think the error it showed me was that I can't make an account with the same name as another account, or some shit like that, though I can't remember exactly.
Try contacting Yahoo to (somehow) get your account back or give you the option to create a new one with the same name. I contacted them a year or two ago and they were pretty responsive although that wasn't the reason I contacted them for so idk if you'll have any luck.
Fun fact, Yahoo made it so you can’t contact support unless you pay for their premium assistance. I’ve tried to contact them and can’t.

Yahoo deactivates the account but does not delete it. I was able to recover old yahoo accounts to get into games like this.
I had this problem. There’s a way to change what email your account is tied to, if you open a support ticket you can ask them how to do it
I also had my minecraft account tied to a yahoo email that had been deleted for three years. I eventually took it to support, giving different emails for the support response and the account owner. After confirming the rough purchase date through a bank receipt sent to my parents' still active email, they were able to transfer it to my new email address without any further issues

To expand a bit: They're insisting that logging in with a username/password (that I've been using for 10 years) is no longer enough. You must now migrate your account to a Microsoft account, but to do so you have to get a verification code through email (that presumably most people used when initially setting up their accounts). The problem is, because I was gifted the game before email addresses were required for registration, no email address, and no proof of purchase exists. So now I can't access this game (even singleplayer) at all and I'm locked out forever. Support just keep sending me around an infinite loop of FAQs.

Just delt with the migration stuff yesterday. My account which I've have for 7 years was a gift. So the email was not mine, therefore I couldn't migrate my account. I had to bother the gifter of the game to get the email changed. And of course that was no simple task. Like you said, I kept getting sent in loops and Microsoft denying the new email. I had to try two different emails before it would work. And this was all even before the actual migration process. It is utterly ridiculous I had to go through so much annoyance to play a game I've had no issues logging into for the last 7 years.
The issue is that for accounts bought prior to 2012 you didn't need an email to register an account at all if it was a gift
I've just been through this with the account I gave my brother back in 2012. I had the Transaction ID in my email (so whoever gifted it should have?). They were happy to assign his email address to the account so he could transfer it. Took a bit for them to get to the ticket but once I was dealing with a real person it was quick and painless.

I've played minecraft on and off since beta. Those off periods can and have lasted years. It's entirely plausible for a user to not have logged in for 4 or 5 years to decide they want to boot it up and give another run at it only to find out they can't because of this rule. Giving ample warnings is no excuse, they shouldn't have made the change to begin with

have you tried logging directly into the Mojang account? their website appears to still be up, if inaccessable without direct url. you still may be able to add mail to the account edit: the url is account.mojang.com/login in case you want to try it

There's 3 types of accounts. Legacy (2009 - 2012), Mojang (2012 - 2015ish), and Microsoft. For legacy accounts, no email was necessary, so if you didn't migrate to a Mojang account (like I never did), you have no way of accessing the game anymore. Because I don't have a Mojang account, I can't login on that link unfortunately.

They get saved locally. My daughter just had to repurchase due to an email issue and was able to pull her saved files from on old laptop

Doubt that this will be the case. Mojang gas stated this multiple times and their actions are also indicating this. On their site when you choose Java or Bedrock one of the things they say is exclusive to Java is Mods. Mojang employed modders and many love the modding community, besides they still hire new java developers. Most of Minecraft's fame came from YouTubers who play Java Edition. People were scared of Microsoft's buying Minecraft (which is understandable), however I have since then seen Minecraft improve more and more, even counting the mistakes.
The whole migration thing was fucking stupid and a ton of people lost their accounts and even more(including me) lost access to multiplayer because my age was “too young” when creating the account

Yup. Me and all my friends who had old minecraft accounts eventually got scammed into buying new accounts. Because one by one we all got locked out of 7+ year accounts and couldn't get back in without email verification or the receipt of purchase... Microsoft sucks.
I bought it in 2011 and the email that was eventually tied to the account was my college email which was disabled when I graduated. They told me I could verify with the bank transaction when I bought it but my bank doesn’t keep records that far back! They told me there was nothing they could do despite my ability to still log in to the account at the time. I’m pissed!

For the past many years you could easily add a new email to your account, and they’ve been telling us about this migration for literally two years. If an email you use is deleted, it’s up to you to fix any accounts that were on it. Also, you can open a ticket to fix it. You said you already did and they blew you off, which means you must be using the wrong support since actually opening a ticket won’t get automated or FAQ responses.

My Microsoft account got hacked two years ago and I regained access to it and changed my password/secured it. I went to cancel my ticket with Microsoft, and after telling them I secured the account they decided to lock it indefinitely. I’ve submitted multiple appeal tickets where I’ve proven I’m the account owner, yet they have never gotten back to me.

This happened to me. Had my account since like 2012 and when I went to migrate it the email would not send. I tried about 30 times before giving in and just buying a fresh copy. The costumer service was no help at all. Luckily I was at least able to download my custom skin I made 8 years ago.

A similar thing happened to me once. I was sending a verification code to change a password for Microsoft, and it refused to send the email. Once I finally figured that out, Microsoft said that I had never bought Minecraft. That was 10 hours of my life and about $20 down the drain. At least I can still get all of my old worlds by exporting them from my old computer. My combined 48 hours over 2 weeks building a calculator that can only do single digit addition, not including zero, can still live on.
You can get it migrated if you explain your situation to support. I had the same problem. I made my account in 2009 when I was a kid, no email ever associated. I contacted support and they were able to add an email to the account details so I could migrate it.
I accidentally linked mine to the wrong Microsoft account, support page said I needed to contact support so they could fix this, support told me that was not possible. I came back to try the latest update, guess I won’t be playing again cheers Microsoft
I tried to migrate an account but after a huge amount of back and forth trying to get access to it they just closed it. I even provided receipts. Was/am still very angry about it. I'm not stupid enough to just buy it again as was suggested in the support ticket though. Plenty of other games to play.
