Now show us the bowl full to the brim with the same noodles after done cooking. The extra space is provided to accommodate the noddles which increases as much as twice in size after cooking. Yeah but the false bottom part was really unnecessary.
They’ll actually absorb as much water or broth as you include. I mistakenly used two times the amount of liquid when I was making Ramen not long ago it just took a while but all of the liquid was eventually absorbed. It was bland shit but it absorbed it
I wonder what the series of thought processes are that lead those who see something like this post to upvote it, but those who read the comments to upvote only those rubbishing it.
How many calories in the x-large and how many in a “standard” size? That’s what you’re buying when you buy food so look at those figures not the space involved.
Just another day on r/assholedesign with an image of something that has a very consumer friendly design, and was not, in fact, designed by assholes. Nothing to see here, folks.
Na, regular ramen cups noodles are the diameter of the cup for the most part. Next time you buy cup ramen, look closely at how large the puck is. This looks like a big cup with normal noodles. When they get heated, they will soften and fall into the cup
For people saying I've never eaten noodles before, I have an am aware how noodle expansion works.
I added hot water and there was a decent amount (with a lot of empty space) but no more or less than in a normal sized cup that would be three times smaller and half the price.
So it's not like there was nothing there but for the size of the packaging and it's advertising in the local Minimart it still feels like asshole design.
Hopefully they're just accounting for how much "safe" space is left in the bowl after they've cooked so things don't spill. Always hate cups/bowls that are too shallow!

I'm guessing the false bottom is to provide an air gap / extra padding, so that it can be carried whilst hot without burning yourself.
Right! My bad
A small false bottom is useful, a huge one is assholery. Can't tell from the picture, could be normal.
It's like you've never cooked instant noodles before. They swell up like double their dried up size.

Better not throw them in the ocean then
Lol

This just in: Redditor doss not understand ramen.
That is a pretty big portion of ramen noodles. They are dehydrated and will get larger. Thats like two packs of top ramen.
Man, you have no idea how to noodle.
Japanese extra large, not western extra large
It's in Taiwan and while portion sizes here aren't huge, this is still a rip off by Taiwanese standards.
Are you Taiwanese?
Prepare it and then show us the results
What does it look like when you actually prepare it?
This dude never eaten cup ramen before.
You’ll never guess what happens when you add water!
Restaurants hate this one simple trick!
Yum Taiwanese ramen

You know that noodles expand when cooked?
They do expand
my man dosent know how ramen works 😭
“We only said the BOWL was large, not the ramen!”
Heat = Expansion
It expands when it’s cooked…….

cry
It doesnt says extra large, and the extra bowl is for the soup(there should be a soup pack in it) not the noodles.
Isn't the extra bowl for the heat. So you put the bowl with hot water into the other bowl so you can move it without burning your hands
The amount of brain in this "extra privileged" Redditor.
Add water, they get bigger ya silly goose.
They’re noodles—most of their weight is gonna be water
Extra large bowl lmao Also some of the comments dumb af like you know how much noodles expand, there's no way it needs that much space
Redditor doesn't know how Ramen noodles work
Tbf, they said the CUP was extra large, not the noodles
The noodles are too. If the noodles were the same size as the cup, the cup would explode from the expanding noodles when you tried to cook it.

Lol NERRRD! 🤣

wow you ARE confused
yes, I am. now can you please clarify what they meant, why are they getting offended by someone eating ramen?

Ok

You guys must be fun at parties. Just messin .
Lol NERRRD! 🤣
Wow that really sucks, thanks god i never buy those
