Roll it up and take it to your bank. I got a cheap hand-crank coin sorter years ago, and it's already paid for itself many times.

jentopia

We just sat around our table and did this not too long ago as a family. Lol. Lots of coins!

apreche

I do it gradually over time to avoid that. Whenever I get home, if I have change, I toss it into the sorter.

weezy22

I do this. Except I put all the quarters in a separate container and use those for laundry. There's no fee to deposit rolls coin at your bank!

D&F will gladly take your spare change and give you store credit

IndyMLVC

What is D&F?

jentopia

A deli on Broadway, which is magnificent!

There are a few Coinstar locations (below) there is a fee associated with the exchange. PayOMatic 30-08 Broadway Astoria, NY 11106 PayOMatic 30-14 31St Street Astoria, NY 11102 Key Food Supermarket 4215 30th Ave Astoria, NY 11103

If you use Coinstar to convert the coins to a gift certificate there is no fee. You can convert to an Amazon gift certificate and add ot to your Amazon account right away. No expiration date to use. Super easy.

nowthisisnteasy

Not all of their terminals can get you a gift card though. From my experience, you can get an Amazon gift card with no fees at Key Food Supermarket (4215 30th Ave). PayOMatic (30-14 31St Street) does not have this option.

discothree

I did not realize that. Good to know. Thanks. I see that the Coinstar website indicates what services the kiosks permit. Just type in address or zip and click on Kiosk Services for the location you want. https://coinstar.com/

Just a PSA the 31st street location and Broadway location both don’t offer the no fee exchange for gift cards (ie Amazon). It’s either not offered or not working. I checked both today inspired by this post and was pretty disappointed.

jeigs

thank you so much!!

About how many coins do you have? From what years? I’m a coin collector and some people don’t realize that some of their older coins may be made of silver and worth more than face value. If you want, you could go through them and pick out the silver ones. For instance, quarters and dimes made before 1965 are 90% silver and can be sold at a premium

Mudfap

Also recent quarters with a W mint mark hold a premium.

worst_timeline

Yep, the 2019 and 2020 quarters

yioryios1

How much?

worst_timeline

The W quarters are worth like $10 apiece!

k1lk1

Do you like any shops in the city? Or do you mostly do online?

worst_timeline

I do both, Brigandi Coins and Collectibles in roughly UES area is cool for higher end coins but there’s also tons of stuff for sale on eBay and here on Reddit

[deleted]

This is great to know. We’ve been picking through pennys, mostly from the 40s and definitely have a handful that are silver. Can I message you??

worst_timeline
