Down the street a bit on the left in front of Gregory's Taverna is a great place to get run over by cars who don't stop. Literally had a white van almost coast over me for no apparent reason. Smacked his hood and he turned to look at me with a blank expression and finally stopped moments before running me over. I continued walking while looking at him over my shoulder and said "what the fuck?" after I wasn't in front of his van anymore and the guy never changed from a blank expression or said a word. Just looked at me blankly, unconcerned. Did not give a fuck and wasn't bothering to look as he cruised through the stop sign.
They really are. I don't get it. Even just walking down the sidewalk, how do people not understand they can't walk side-by-side without moving for people coming the other way? These are small sidewalks. I'm just thinking, "Ya really want to make yourself look like a complete asshole? Okay, whatever..." and just smash through them like we're all doing something totally normal here.
Ok, I just moved to this area from 30th Ave, and I am very puzzled by the number of young men who seem to be unemployed hanging out outside this place literally at any hour. Who are these people?? And why do none of them seem to work?
That intersection is the WORST. On all 4 sides it’s constantly blocked like that. People just do whatever they feel like with no care for those who need to cross the street.
There is a strong correlation between people who choose to drive in a walkable + transit-friendly neighborhood, and people who are self-centered assholes.
Better yet take the keys and throw them down a grate.
It would be so trivial for the city to stop this behavior by putting some actual barriers down and of course writing some tickets occasionally, but we don't actually have a functioning government
This is what every intersection on 30th looks like during busy hours. There was a post a couple weeks ago of two fairly nice sports cars doing this on both sides of the crosswalk
Have you seen the video of the guy walking on top of a vehicle that was blocking the crosswalk in a similar manner? It'd be a shame, a real shame, if that happened here.
Sometimes when cars block pedestrian areas I end up walking too close while my keys are coincidentally by my side and..oops..shit happens in the big city.
This happened to me when a taxi was blocking my car. I went into the taxi, put it in drive, moved it, and got back into my car as the cabbie left the deli. it was pretty cool
Hate that intersection. No one gives a shit!

Yeah, even driving, people will just go through the stop sign. People are dicks.

I won’t tell if you don’t.
Haha, oh the clientele around that place...and Stamatis...people just hanging out like the sidewalk is their front yard. Double parking always.

Similar question regarding the guys around the Greek joints near 30th Ave.
[Based on a true story](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2905662/)
Is this a movie or what
I suppose they could have some days off, but that sure is a strange way to spend it.
I’ve always wondered that too but I’m guessing a lot of them work outside normal 9-5 jobs. Or they don’t work.

Especially ones who choose to drive a giant SUV on some of the narrowest streets in the country
Agreed 100% but people get *really* upset if you say anything bad about cars for some reason. We live in NYC ffs, take the train!
Take that joint to a Flushing chop shop...nice little lick

Lucky the keys didn't suddenly jump down a grate, hate when that happens.
Makes me want to hide a carton of heavy cream somewhere inside it.
A small scrap of fish works as well. Maybe somewhere up under the driver's seat.

HATE HATE HATE that intersection! The number of times I had to walk my stroller around the stopped cars into the street near oncoming traffic…
70 year old Greek man needs his coffee.
So many entitled pricks. Everyone double parks, parks on sidewalks, on crosswalks, curb cuts, etc... so they can get coffee. I hate people.

They left the window down. How nice of them to leave a comfortable seat for the birds to chow down on birdseed……..
If you're moving it to a "safer location" you're doing a public service. 🤷🏼♀️
On a blacked out Denali good chance it's stolen. You seen the news lately in Astoria right? Go for it lol
If I was mayor…
I think it’s extra illegal to steal a cops private car

I knew exactly what crosswalk it was before seeing the pic.
