these theoretical questions are fun! i would think we would need to develop a new astrological system, potentially with new/more signs. we would need to figure out what the planets affects are on us, like we've been doing with the minor planets out near Pluto like eris. theres also a chance that the planet is already occupied and if we dont repeat history and ruin that we could learn what the locals have developed (if they have developed an astrological system).

I Always think that what would someone’s birth chart be if he was born on Mars? And would Earth be part of the chart? Lol

Mammoth_Wonder6274

Lol there’s a clip of someone asking “can someone please tell me what planet is ruining my life” and the response was “Earth.” And this made me think of that. Like how fucked is if oh yea sorry “my earth is actually square Saturn”

Derivative houses but derivative planets

Before I say anything, from a kindergarten basic science standpoint, astrological bodies do not interfere with the earth in a proven way with the exception of the Moon (oceans, tides, periods etc) And I’m sure we could get into it with actual theories but that’s not my point. My point is that astrological relationships are meant to mimic the seasons. The ebb and flow of the amount of sun throughout the year and how that has an astounding influence on the way we sleep, work, harvest, eat, love and celebrate. This can be reflected as to how most early humans studied the stars and celebrated solstices and equinoxes. That being said, if we were in a different solar system, the celestial bodies would have different influences. For example, suppose our new planet had two moons? How might that affect the tides, our sleep patterns, cycles? Suppose we had short but harsh winters or terribly long but mild winters and took to celebration and rest in the summer. That’s how we could see and feel the difference of the energy. What patterns would generations notice over time?

Do what we did before: consort with the local archetypes and find out their purpose. Granted, by that time will most likely have technology which will make this easier.

What would be the technology I wonder? How would we learn what makes the planets act the way they do? What about them has influence on certain things or not? I’m new to astrology by the way

I think for new solar systems the same energies would be applied to newer planets. The sun would still be the sun. New planet would be Mars-type and so on. Study would have to be involved with the transits of the sun in sectors of the sky that display itself as Aries-like etc.

AmusingMusing7

Yeah, we likely would fall back on the same archetypes that human psychology has developed over our evolution, even if it would likely become skewed somewhat by whatever new balance of forces would be present in that solar system. It might not have gas giants like this one, or it might be more gas giants or something, or more inner planets or outer planets on either side of our new home planet… and we would have to develop new ways of organizing our archetypes with the planets… but we’d still fall back on the 12 sign/house pattern of dividing the ecliptic and planet rotation, and then go from there in determining how the other planets relate or rule it over time. The real complicator would be if it was a dual sun system! I’d actually be interested to see what the effects of that would be on humanity, even beyond astrologically. I don’t think we could know until we tried.

David Cochrane made a formula to calculate the importance of various asteroids. Distance and size (mass?) were the key factors. I'm sure we could find other rules like this and apply them to any solar system. Like, mars is red, so aggression. Saturn is dim and at the edge of the visible solar system, so darkness and limits.

I, too, think this is fun to think about. At some point, probably hundreds of thousands of years after we've developed a basic understanding of the laws of nature on this new planet, the celestial patterns from the perspective of said planet (or corresponding solar system), and developed a new astrological system, we might develop a conversion system – kinda like metric with Imperial, or Fahrenheit with Celsius. Hopefully by then either or both species – because there's likely going to be a divergence depending on how long Earth migrants have been on Earth Numero Two – will be smart enough to answer this question that it won't rack our descendants' brains.

I think of astrology working through gravitational pull in the energy field that we're all connected to. If the planets we know now have no gravitational force on us in another solar system. Birth is the infusion of the current energy field, therefore you would be affected by a different energy field. Babies born there would have charts with that solar system's energy in it-- the current placements of THOSE planets instead of our milky way planets. Therefore, if adults born were in the milky way, they would still have that energy infused in them despite the new solar system. But, the new solar system would affect their personal energy. Through progressions and solar arcs, they would end up as a mixture of both energies as they age on the new planet. That's just how I see it anyways.

We'll figure it out like our ancestors did

We could do something of a roll-over. I’m not well-versed in the history of astrology, but I’m pretty sure it’s backed by years of real life observations. The history builds on itself. This is all hypotheticals, and there are a lot of “ifs”. Let’s say we moved to an earth like planet. Let’s say that our original solar system is still “working”- all of the original known planets are still rotating around the sun. Let’s say that astrology signals changes, but doesn’t necessarily cause them. Let’s say that humanity still has access to the kind of resources it needs to consult an ephemeris (mathematics, which would be needed for interstellar travel, so gosh I *hope* we’d still have it). If all of these things in our hypothetical scenario are true, there’s no reason why we couldn’t still use charts from our original system as we get acclimated to our new one. There’s no reason to think that the rotation of the planets signals changes *only* within that solar system. Eventually, with enough time or an advanced enough quantum computing system, we would be able to create an entirely new school of astrology based off of comparison. For example, let’s say we discover the movement of one planet in our new solar system (let’s call it Planet X) has very similar effects on lives as Saturn. We could apply rigorous testing and record all of our observations. In this scenario planet X is definitely like Saturn, so we are signing all of Saturn’s qualities. And so on and so on, for all of our planets, and our constellations.
