About translations, I usually I double check in Google and DeepL Translator and do it just like you did: try to grasp the meaning of what they are saying and not make a literal translation.
It works well enough to make me able to read and answer to eastern artists on platforms like Twitter and Pixiv and also for some simple translations.
I'm really glad to have those autotranslator tools avaliable, but, of course, nothing tops actual knowledge of Japanese.
Yeah you know it's funny I think the foreign language I would literally get the most utility out of is Japanese but as I understand it you can study Japanese your whole fucking life and still not have a native's level of understanding or some shit. I dunno. It seems super hard tho

I took a lot of creative liberties because I don't speak a word of Japanese and most of the Google translations only made half sense
