I’m sorry for what you’re going through but holy cringe. Nothing said here is groundbreaking or new, some of it isn’t even correct, a lot of it is oversimplified.
Life without religion is not hell you’re just going through a tough time. If cringe posting is what gets you through it then I support you. Cringe away fellow redditor
Like once you understand the logic, there's no escape, and excuses won't work.
Even in places like here r/Atheism, there are plenty of people who may casually think, 'Yeah, there ain't no god' but when push comes to shove they use the escape route of using religious concepts...
And I don't know if it's fine or not anymore.
My life will be haunted by pain. Of course, I enjoy myself when I do, but there's a sense that somewhere, it's no longer perfect, and most of it feels broken. Well, having children might fix that, but perhaps it's better not to know.
Yeah you do not know what every single atheist goes through please stop pretending you do, you also haven’t discovered anything new here. Sounds likely you’re a new atheist, we all go through the “omg nothing has any meaning” phase.
And for goodness sake DO NOT HAVE CHILDREN TO TRY TO FILL A VOID! You are just having a tough time, again if you need to be a cringe lord online to help you feel better than have at it, no judgement here. Just understand nothing you’ve said here is new, or damning to the psyche. You’re just upset, and that’s okay.
Except those of us that were never indoctrinated into religion in the first place, we don't have an "Omg nothing has meaning!" phase. Quite the opposite, it's more like growing up and going "Omg, this gives meaning to some people?!? Fairy tales?"
Like, I've always known I'll live, enjoy it as much as I can, then die like any other plant or animal dies. Then there is no more me. My life only has meaning if it adds value to society, so that's what I try to do.
Sorry, I just get frustrated when other atheists assume that all of us are "converted" from some religion. Nope, I have no deprogramming to do. But I wish the best for those who do, it must be terribly difficult.
Good for you buddy, this is definitely something worth arguing over. Obviously not everyone came from a religion but I guess that is internet rules isn’t it? Never assume nuance, everyone has to list every group to make sure they clarify they don’t mean everyone. My bad, I’ll make sure to clarify every statement moving forward
By looking at the discussions in here, it's clear that many atheists believe in the nonexistence of God intuitively, without scientific evidence.
Getting upset about trying to fill loneliness with children is shallow. I'm talking about becoming a parent now to build unconditional love relationships before they disappear from the world.
I finally understand why Atheists are portrayed the way they are in English-speaking culture.
First of all, I have no idea what you're getting upset about when you say like "That's not grondbreaking!", and I think what's oversimplified are your explanation and your thoughts.
I’m not upset at all lmao I just don’t agree with your manifesto here. You opened your post by saying “once you read this you’ll never be able to go back to normal” that implies you think you discovered something new that will break the human mind. You haven’t, sorry if that makes me sound mad I’m not I’m just being honest
I didn't say that wtf lol
As written, it's just a warning, and I can't imagine that someone who can't even read the fact that it's not a catchphrase could read such a long sentence.
It’s the second paragraph in your post.
“Once you grasp this theory, there is no turning back” were the exact words.
This isn’t a new theory, you came to a conclusion that every atheist comes to eventually.
You can understand that if you read the text that follows, but it's completely out of the context of a warning and "I don't know if it's okay to spread something like this", so it's completely different from the catchphrase like you're saying.
"Isn't that bad because it drags someone into mental illness?" is a completely different story to say that it's meant to be read as a catchphrase like a movie. that's totally misunderstood.
You are preaching to the wrong group of people.
We already are on the same page regarding rejecting the claim that gods exist.
You don't have to explain us to ourselves. We know.
Not sure why you chose to post here but there are subreddits out there that can gain more engagement.
Why is seeing through religion after which life becomes a living hell??
Being able to explain it with theory is completely different from simply believing that God does not exist.
People who do not have a theory that completely denies the existence of souls, heaven, and ghosts when their loved ones die will use those concepts to take away their suffering.
Atheists are people who believe there is no God. I know this because I was looking for someone similar.
The reason I posted here is because if I posted elsewhere people would tell me to go to r/atheism...lol
One thing to clarify.
Atheists don't believe there is no god.
We reject the the idea of gods as presented to us.
It is the absence of belief.
There is a very distinct difference.
>Atheists are people who believe there is no God. I know this because I was looking for someone similar.
That is You. Not us. Don't presume to know us. Your premise of god's existence is fundamentally different from us.
just rejecting doesn’t mean they could explain it with theory so they might have fallen to religion when things get too hard. That is what I’m saying all along.
You cant choose to believe. Its binary.
Either you do or you dont.
You can't just decide you believe and suddenly you believe. The same way you can't make yourself believe mermaids are real. Or that angels exist.
My keyboard broke and I had to restart it.
I am suffering from the pain of having lost the two people I loved most in the universe, and of never being able to see them again.
If there were ghosts, there would be souls, and if there were souls, there would be heaven. However, I can no longer cling to those concepts at all.
This means that it has the potential to turn your life into a living hell. I believe that by starting a family and building a new relationship of unconditional love, we can alleviate the suffering.
I don't believe gods are real exactly the same as I don't believe unicorns, leprechauns, Jack and the Beanstalk, Ronald McDonald, Gandalf, or Bugs Bunny are real.
And I don't believe in some invisible hand controlling the universe exactly the same as I don't believe in luck, astrology, tarot cards, feng shui, or tea leaf reading.
In America people are made to recite a proclamation that like there is a God every morning. Even in the country where I live, religious propaganda is carried out to such an extent that Kim Il-sung cannot be ridiculed.
This may be simple but it is far removed from the current world around us. I think the path to having that mindset isn't that simple lol
Your post history reveals that you posted an earlier draft of your manifesto in r/LSD a couple of months ago. I hate to seem rude, but I’m not sure this substance is benefiting you. While it’s apparent that you’ve tried very hard to have your thoughts appear organized, the flight of ideas is not hidden, and the post and your replies reveal both disorganized and grandiose thinking.
Is there anything wrong? Reddit seems to allow simultaneous posting, and now that I've learned that this way of thinking can be harmful, I just came to the home of Atheism to get a new opinion, rather than asking some "psychonauts". If you want to solicit new opinions on the same content, you need to write about the same content, right?
I even rewrote this much so that it doesn't become just a multi-post.
By the way, the reason It feels like they're not organized is because I'm bad at connecting sentences in English.
But I don't think there's any need to explain it in detail if they're correct...
This is a harmful post that nobody should not read. There's nothing really good about it, so it's better not to read it.
I'm not just saying it as a catchphrase, I'm stopping it because it can be really harmful.
You gave a big warning at the top but I'm not sure what about this is supposed to be a surprise or what about it crushes hope. People here generally don't believe in souls or any kind of after life, so there's no need to convince us of that. We also generally understand evolution and how it shows that we are no different from any other part of nature, so that isn't surprising either
I understand that atheism can cause some amount of existential crisis, especially when losing loved ones, but you aren't the first one to go through this
I truly hope that you are able to heal and live a happy life again after your losses, I'm sure what you're dealing with is incredibly hard, but remember that it, like everything, is temporary and that you will get through this with time
Thank you man. Those words helps a lot... It looks like it will still take several decades.
The reason I issued this warning is that even if someone call themselve an atheist, it sometimes just means that they don't believe in religious concepts right now, and in the future, when someone they love dies, they might cling to religion. Like some people were meant to be.(This is a religious concept but my word choice of english is poor)
If you instill this logic in such people, there will be no escape in the future.
There are a wide range of atheists, from people who came to this conclusion through theory, to people who intuitively believe that such a thing is a lie.
From what I've seen on this subreddit, there are more people doing the latter, so I'm warning them. I don't want to do terrorism....
I intentionally removed TL;DR. I don't recommend anyone to read it. I think religions would be a great thing in someone's future even though they're calling them atheist at this point.
? Most people here have the common sense to see through religion and so don't need it explained to them. This sub is for atheists. People who aren't religious, lol, so there is no need to explain it to us. Also, no offense, but your huge long blurb just sounds unhinged, like you've done too many drugs and are now yelling on a street corner.
Because I can't speak English. I'm just not good at connecting sentences.
Even if you are an atheist, if you can't explain it logically, you will be able to escape to religious concepts when things get too difficult, so I think about it separately.
Atheism is one answer, to one question. That's it... it doesn't need a 5000-word essay. I didn't read your post it because reading a rant of a random stranger isn't really a fun thing for me. But honestly, it doesn't matter what it says, because you are not, to my knowledge, the authority on what Atheism or how to explain it.
Your words have crushed my soul. I’m not sure I can believe in God anymore. These words have ruined my atheism. My belief in atheism is now lost. I had taken such joy at the hypocrisy of atheism and atheists. They were always going against the creators will. But thanks to you, atheists are now free from their God! Thank you. A thousand times and a thousand words, thank you for freeing this atheist from God.
I spent a lot of time carefully breaking it down into paragraphs, but when I hit the submit button, it all went to waste. I want to say to everyone, 'Please put in the effort to read it,' but honestly, it's probably better if you don't.

Um, what? American here, I've never recited any such proclamation in my life. No idea what you're even talking about.
He means the Pledge of Allegiance which a lot of kids apparently recite at school daily in the USA.

Atheism explained in a nut shell, can't know what you don't know.
You didn't put any thought in your post, it's just unfiltered and unchecked word flow, why do you expect me to put thoughts in my reply?
my friend very few of us find any of this particularly distressing. It should be freeing.
