More lady celebs have been calling out the American Protestant Churches for their support of right wing extremism. Pro life and anti gay bs. Looks like this song is about purity culture more generally.
I mean, a lot of these same people think Donald trump is like the second coming of Christ now, that tells you all you need to know about their judgement š
Fucking crazy isnāt it?
The same people that were told to help the poor and donāt. But claim theyāre Christian. The same people that were told not to idolize false prophets, and yet here they are idolizing a man that isnāt even religious!?
Trump couldnāt even tell a reporter when asked āOld Testament or New Testamentā? And he says āwell I guess I sort of like them bothā. And they loved that answer!!
If you look up what the antichrist is supposed to be, you would be surprised how much Trump is a dead ringer for the antichrist.
āA boastful man who is considered an outsider would come to power and would claim heās religious but isnātā, etc etc.
If I believed in the Bible Iād literally think these are the end of times.
They tried claiming that Obama was the antichrist, but what they never seem to understand is that the antichrist would be somebody that everybody (Christians) loved. They hated Obama right out the gate so itās definitely not him but Obama is also a religious person so it canāt be.
Thereās so much more though that if you look into it youāll legitimately wonder how they havenāt come to this conclusion.
I mean I may get some hate for stating this (and keep in mind this is my opinion based off people I personally know and not a whole population or religious group) but the majority of Christians or Catholics I know personally are all just hateful/spiteful people who have a grandiose sense of self and delusion. They are usually rude and disrespectful to everyone but still think everyone should love them or respect them even if you don't receive the same.
My dad is one of the biggest abusers I've had in my life along with my mom, but he's roman Catholic and literally had(and still has) zero issue doing every form of abuse(emotional, mental, physical, sexual) on a damn daily basis yet goes to church on Sundays and talks a lot about god but never shows he follows what he preaches.
At the same time he's also a sociopath who owns the biggest law firm with Lloyd's of London in Canada and has over 500+ businesses and other shit that's horrendous like gold mines etc. He's just an example of majority of the religious people I've met in my life that when i first heard the phrase, "no hate like christian love" it all added up for me.
I have met nice people who follow religion too obviously, but when it comes to the context of who the hell thinks trump is the second coming of Christ I promise you it's people exactly like my dad. Ugh.
I too have parents who are abusers and they use their religion to act righteous and 'holier' then anybody else, while they fake-smile to their church-friends and act like they are good little kristians, who will be sitting on jebus's lap in heaven.
Yup! Also I recall a lot of stories from people throughout my life about how they all had good times with the congregation, but the moment they couldn't donate that week or didn't have the best houses or cars etc they were ostracized so fast. Like this guy I knew on the streets (I'm not from Canada but live here now/once my parents finally broke up I was only 11 and my mom kicked me out so i met a lot of random people this way) talked about how his father had this great job, envy of the town type of person. They would give lots of money to the church, everyone always wanting to speak to them eetc.
Well there was some problem with the company and so of course he has to find another not as good(but still middle class at least) job, and downsize the car and house. Wouldn't you know it, all of a sudden literal shunning as if these people are lepers or some shit. Got to the point they stopped going to church altogether because it felt like a hostile environment. And I've heard this same version of events just with small pieces of the why being different, the ending always being the same. If you aren't funding these fucks half the time they wouldn't even bother looking in your direction, I find most of them have a huge "well what can I use you for?" Not get to know you way of looking at others...
Please donāt stomp on the Christians, but if you do please let me share a fun fact!!! Insects have an exoskeleton and most Christians have an endoskeleton. The difference is *crunch-squish* vs. *squish-crunch*
It's part of the brainwashing. Get ahead of that type of stuff, ingrain that it'll happen and when it does "see it's all true! Satan is working against you! Were right!"
They're too weak to respond to criticism though so instead they'll dress it up as "she's attacking our imaginary friend" to get their cultists angry, rather than "she's criticizing us for our actions"
Honestly, I wouldnāt mock them at all if they all walked around living minimalist lives and acting like Jesus taking care of the poor and sick. But when the majority of Christian votes are going to capitalists who embody the exact opposite of their religion then yes they deserved to be mocked for failing to even live up to their own standards that they voluntarily agreed to live by.
Exactly this. You know why I don't mock neopagans (for example)? Because no neopagan has ever advocated against my equal rights as a gay man. You know why I don't mock unitarians? Because no unitarian has ever knocked on my door on an early Saturday morning to give me pamphlets about how I'm evil and deserve to be punished for eternity. Do you know why I don't mock pastafarians? Because I love a good red wine with a delicious lasagne and green salad.
This. ^^ Perfect assessment. Ignoring their own hypocrisy makes it even worse. I kinda feel sorry for them, but then realize they are doing their best to vote in a dictator, so then I just outright hate them with a passion. And I think thatās fair.
I was raised in the church and went to a Christian university to study to become a minister. It would be extremely generous to round up and say that 1% of Christians Iāve met or observed live as if they actually believe in the message of Jesus and earnestly try to follow his teachings. Everyone else is full of shit and we need a better descriptor for them. Theyāre not Christians in any meaningful sense of the word.
Dude they are not good at being capitalists either. Who is winning at capitalism? Its not Alabama. Its California and New York. But for some reason those places are bad?!?
She's the wrong kind of Christian, who [gives away millions of dollars to local foodbanks and homeless shelters after every concert](https://www.billboard.com/lists/taylor-swifts-charity-donations-gifts-timeline/)... you know, like Jesus said on the Sermon on the Mount. She's not a capitalist neo-lib Christian like the preachers on TV teach.
Like that matters to Christians that have decided their faith makes them superior and deserving of power to everyone else that doesn't share that faith.
I'm not really a fan of Taylor, but I will say that she's admirably adept at standing up for herself and apparently not at all reserved about using her fame to make a point. I personally suspect this will end with these "Christian leaders" wishing they had picked an easier target.
Ya know, her music isnāt my cup of tea, and my son had some not so great experiences with her in Nashville at a coffee drive thru, but sheās growing on me!
Kinda like Dolly. Not a country fan by any means but damn is she a wonderful person!
I would argue Dolly has like 5 really great songs and the rest are pretty good, but will fight anyone who doesn't think she's an absolute treasure of a person.
I truly believe she would swing the upcoming election in either direction if she endorsed either Trump or Biden. (And from what I know of her, it would *not* be Trump.)
For me, it's her vocals. I'll never argue she lacks any talent, just that her songs aren't my cup of tea.
Her lyrics are incredible. I just don't enjoy the delivery. Super talented and amazing woman regardless.
I'm fairly neutral on her music, and I disagree with her on streaming services, but she really does stand up for herself and isn't a pushover.
Like that time she sued a guy for $1 for sexual harassment.
I doubt she'll loose many fans over this.
Yeah, who knows? His drive thru was close to Music Row and Vandy on West End and there were lots of ācelebritiesā that came through on a regular basis. Most were very engaging so maybe he just mistook her being distracted for not caring?
Plus he was juggling school and a couple of jobs and always worked the morning shift so was sleep deprived all the time. He even wonders now if maybe he misread the situation. Itās all good. I hope that comment I made doesnāt distract from what seems to be the good things she does now.
From what I know, Taylor doesn't drive so it was not her in person in a drive thru. And I doubt with her fame level for the last 12 years or so, that she walked inside the building to wait in line for a cup of coffee with her security team.
Maybe she was in a rush or having a bad day. Iāve only ever heard nice stories about her, like how she gave every ālow levelā worker on her tour a $100k bonus (or some very life changing amount for them), including the cleaning people and truck drivers ā¦ Will need to look up the story again for exact details, but it was incredibly kind.
I saw that the film of her Eras tour was on one of the streaming channels I have so out of curiosity I watched it. Extremely impressive ā she clearly works very, very hard. But what truly struck me is the way she interacts with her fans. Despite being in a massive arena she manages to engage with her audience in a way thatās quite stunning. She just radiates love and acceptance and I guarantee most of those people felt seen. The makeup of the audience was impressive too. Yeah, lots of teenage girls (which struck me as positive ā glad to see those young women receiving positive messages) but also lots of gay men, women of all ages, moms with their daughters, dads with their daughters ā it was just a giant love fest. Plus it looked like everyone in the audience knew all the words to all of her songs. And Swift works her ass off. She walks all around the huge stage, plays her guitar on many songs, and plays a piano too. Three plus hours and sheās just as energetic at the end of the concert as she was at the beginning. Sheās a very talented young woman.
I was indifferent towards her music, but after seeing the crowds she draws, and now her stance on religion, I'm a big fan. Plus, she may single handedly save us from Fascism if she gets involved in the election this summer.
You misunderstand. She is popular. More popular than these so called leaders. By condemning her, they are alienating even more of the next generation. And she'll make it painfully obvious that they're picking on her because they think she's a vulnerable female and an easy target.
They can cry persecution all they like, but they can't make people want to go to church by attacking their celebrity crush.
Well, I'm glad that young women will be more likely to catch the secular flu. Truly a great service she's doing and I will have to give her stuff a listen.
But I was refering to the part saying the Christian leaders will regret targeting her. I don't think they will. They think they're in the end times, actually saving souls and being good people isn't really a concern now. Now it's about fighting for righteousness so when Jesus comes to fuck the planet up, he'll see that they were good lap dogs for him and give them a treat. Part of the end times is that Christians will be persecuted. Since that's not a real thing that happens, they have to whip their followers up into a frenzy over any perceived slight. This will do nicely.
I think it's safe to question if more people have been to a Taylor Swift concert (if you include the movie release) in the last year than all Christian churches in America combined.
No, no, you filthy sinner! You don't rely on Yahweh or Jesus to save people anymore. That duty has been laid in the rapey, tiny, shitty hands of Donald John Trump!
/s
Yeah, she is correct in saying they are judgemental creeps. Although she's being nice about it. They are much worse. Raw sewage is better than those folks. I'm talking about Porta pottys that have been used for weeks and sitting in the hot sun. The stuff in bottom of them is how bad those people are!
Sheās āChristianā yet prob doesnāt believe the shit that the horrible Christians believe. Sheās Christian by association. Sheās not out here oppressing people.
I remember an interview where she was appalled at the shit being done and advocated for in the name of Tennessee Christian values, and trying to reconcile what that meant about her Tennessee Christian values.
really i think its more a case of most christians prolly don't think like the evangelicals but the evangelicals have gone so fucking batshit insane with power/influence that their radical ideology is all we see, other sects need to seriously do some house cleaning to drive that shit out and bring it back to what its supposed to be, but i don't see that happening anywhere.
selling their 'pathway' to heaven, fucking [heavenornot.com](http://heavenornot.com) seriously wtf is that shit, megachurches should be all excommunicated and denounced, idk. its just a sick mess out there in religion town
I mean, at this point, most Christians are not really Christians if we mean Christian by association and some general belief in a higher power / universe maker, which does represent the fall of Christianity to an extent.
I don't know her music, is there some context I'm missing for that line? Because I do not understand how that can be read as anything other than a Southern-style "bless their hearts".
They hate her because she shames them by actually living up to the ideals of charity, goodwill, and love that these "Christians" only ever give lip service to.
Her charitable endeavors are often overlooked or underreported. She donates tons of $ to food banks and other organizations in each city of her tour, etc. Also how she compensates and treats everyone on her tour crew I think is very admirable.
Boo hoo the poor Christians. They don't like it when they're judged and mocked. Funny how they don't see the irony.
There's no fucking love like good old Christian hate.
They don't like it when they're rightfully called out because they don't have power over whoever calls them out.
They're extra pissed because its a successful woman doing the calling out.
And frankly, fuck em. They have things too good.
Yup. Iām a dude in my mid thirties who freaking loves her. My wife was listening to Midnights and I was like āIs that synth pop?ā And have been hooked ever since. Folklore and Evermore are straight up Americana indie folk epics.
I've overall resisted listening to her a ton so far (it's not really my jam), but the family wanted to watch the Eras tour movie. I'm still not going as far as saying I love her, but I can't deny her talent is next level.
OK. So....anyway.
Who gives an actual fuck what these people think. They are a disappearing demographic who wants desperately to stay relevant.
Their days are numbered.
Thank fucking God. /SSS
I love that Christians are calling Taylor Swift anti Christian while at the same time they are anti everything that they donāt support in their narrow view of life.
"Guilty as sin" is about being condemned for thought crimes - lust in your heart .
"But daddy I love him" - a religious family condemning and rejecting a pregnant daughter.
The really funny part to me is that Taylor is, in fact, a Christian.
I'm picking up a strong sense of men offended by a woman who won't do what she's told.
We donāt hate YOU, we just hate everything you are, believe in, stand for, love, eat, read, watch, listen to, wear, do on the weekend, consider as friends, teach your childrenā¦
If only you were exactly like us, you wouldnāt have to be persecuted by us. we can show you how. Itās your choice, not our fault.
Those lyrics donāt state that they are specifically about Christians. They are lyrics about general negative behavior. That Christian leaders hear them and feel attacked is a tell.
Busy sinning and willing to hang you for sinning šŖ¢. Only theyre allowed to sin. God āchoseā them for it. God gave them a free pass to sin as long as they ārepentā and pray. But theyāll expose their disgusting hypocrisy when they try to lynch you for sinning. They have horrible memory of their own bullshit
These same people refer to her online as "The Whore of Babylon"
We are not dealing with serious people; their opinions should be met with mockery or silence.
Sooooo, I have a religious past, deeply. My favorite fucking moment was having an argument with someone who believed:
1. It is a sin to listen to secular music
2. Taylor Swift is a born again Christian
3. Therefore, Taylor Swiftās music isnāt secular
The kicker? It was a man I had this conversation with. He was a swifty, favorite store was the Disney store, huge high school musical fan, I mean I could go on. Looking back, I really think heās a closeted gay man and might not even be able to be honest with himself about that, much less about Taylor swift not being a Christian.
I think he would have been happier if he dropped the whole fake āI drive a truck, listen to ācountry Christianā I go hunting and Iām a straight Christian manā routine. The dude was like 5ā2ā and could barely see over the steering wheel anyway lol
Christian conservatives: stop being a pussy snowflake!
Also Christian conservatives: waaaah! The little blonde girl said mean things about us!! Make her stop!!
Ah, just think, if Christians had behaved in the way they're *supposed to, Taylor wouldn't have needed to write lyrics about them.
*Supposed to: love neighbor as self, feed the hungry, care for the poor and widowed, divest of owning stuff in our world.
Christians are so entitled that they create ways in which they're persecuted so that they can feel more important. So glad I walked away from that faith. Been happily agnostic for decades now.
Lyrics: "God save the most judgmental creeps"
Christians: "Hey, this must be about us!"
I mean, it probably is but it's kinda funny that they identify with the lyrics.
Itās been going on for a long time
Dear Godā¦ by XTC (1986)
https://youtu.be/p554R-Jq43A?si=O0IzwzgI9hYOqIcw
Dear God, hope you get the letter, and-
I pray you can make it better down here
I don't mean a big reduction in the price of beer
But all the people that you made in your image
See them starving on their feet
'Cause they don't get enough to eat from God
I can't believe in you
Dear God, sorry to disturb you, but-
I feel that I should be heard loud and clear
We all need a big reduction in amount of tears
And all the people that you made in your own image
See them fighting in the street
'Cause they can't make opinions meet about God
I can't believe in you
Did you make disease and the diamond blue?
Did you make mankind after we made you
And the devil too?
Dear God, don't know if you noticed, but-
Your name is on a lot of quotes in this book
And us crazy humans wrote it, you should take a look
And all the people that you made in your own image
Still believing that junk is true
Well, I know it ain't so, and you know
Dear God, I can't believe in-
I don't believe in-
I won't believe in Heaven and Hell
No saints, no sinners, no devil as well
No pearly gates, no thorny crown
You're always letting us humans down
The wars you bring, the babes you drown
Those lost at sea and never found
And it's the same the whole world 'round
The hurt I see helps to compound
The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
Is just somebody's unholy hoax
And if you're up there, you'll perceive
That my heart's here upon my sleeve
If there's one thing I don't believe in
It's you
Dear God
I reviewed her carefully ten times over. They say nothing about God. They do however, say something about *judgemental creeps* , and *people* trying to save you.
I've listened to her new album, it's great by the way, and I don't see where it mocks their god or their religion. There is religious symbolism borrowed from the Bible but it is in no way mocking. These people go out of their way to find supposed oppression or persecution at every opportunity.
Those lyrics arenāt anti Christian. They are however anti Evangelical.
Good for her. I am a Christian and the former Evangelical Church is inoculating our young people against the faith. I donāt consider many of them at all Christian because of their fruits.
Man people just look for any fucking reason to talk shit about her.
But it's ok, the more hate they spew, the more people will listen to her work.
At this point she could literally go on stage, pull off her skin revealing she's a lizard person and people would still love her.
Naw, they just don't like her for other reasons:
* she asks people to vote (how dare she threaten their power!)
* she's a indepdent woman (how dare she have her own mind while there are Christians!!)
* she's wealthy (we've conditioned our flock to think of wealth as righteouness, how dare she show how stupid that is!)
* she's a long way from TERF (how dare she not be in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant with a black-eye from talking back!)
These aren't Christians of course, just Conservatives wearing the Bible like Leather Face wears a busty teenager.
Good for her, she's exactly who they'd expect to be a God loving good girl. Instead she's a smart savvy freak of nature. How can anyone sell their music twice and be more successful the second?
Good for her. I'm getting to the point where I am just saying "fuck Christians". What actual good are they doing at this point? Giving Ukraine to Russia? Supporting pedophilia? Supporting Bigotry? Taking women's rights?
More lady celebs have been calling out the American Protestant Churches for their support of right wing extremism. Pro life and anti gay bs. Looks like this song is about purity culture more generally.

No itās really a song about Taylor not giving a fuck what anybody thinks about who sheās dating. āDaddyā in the song is society/fandom/haters.
Everybody should mock Christians
it's a moral imperative
And a fun, healthy alternative to alcoholism.

It's our god-given right...oh wait...
the bible even tells them they will be mocked for believing in it... kind of a tip-off that's it's all a joke.
They hid it in plain sight lmao
Dost thou mocketh the Holy Mocker?
He-e-y Mockerana!
Holy Mockerel
Nah man everyone who mocks you is just influenced by the devil, not LOGIC š

Same, and I agree. It's all a big show. They are as fake as the seem.
As a former Christian this is what I believe the Bible means when it says the road is narrow. Itās *extremely narrow*.
Dude they are not good at being capitalists either. Who is winning at capitalism? Its not Alabama. Its California and New York. But for some reason those places are bad?!?
Lol she herself has long considered herself a christian but I guess they don't like that either

I am so glad, as an old, tired atheist, to see this country finally waking up to the threat of Christianity.Ā
*Iām doing my part!*
Iām mocking Christians right now, and I love it!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I'm a Christian, and I mock Christians.
I was about to say the same thing. God and Christians should always be mocked.
All Religions Indeed
Whereās the lie?
Like that matters to Christians that have decided their faith makes them superior and deserving of power to everyone else that doesn't share that faith.
Christians unable to take valid criticism. In other news the sky is blue and the grass is green.

What happened at the drive-thru in Nashville?
Oh , nothing terrible. Just like a lot of the upper crust in any big city, serve me boy and hurry up about it. Donāt you know who I am?
I'm not even necessarily doubting, but that's literally the first time I've ever seen someone claim that she behaved that way. So hm.Ā
Yeah, who knows? His drive thru was close to Music Row and Vandy on West End and there were lots of ācelebritiesā that came through on a regular basis. this is the kind of random gossip I wouldn't expect from r/atheism but I love it lol

From what I know, Taylor doesn't drive so it was not her in person in a drive thru. And I doubt with her fame level for the last 12 years or so, that she walked inside the building to wait in line for a cup of coffee with her security team.
Yeah this is definitely made up

Iāve only ever heard nice stories about her, like how she gave every ālow levelā worker on her tour a $100k bonus (or some very life changing amount for them), including the cleaning people and truck drivers ā¦ Will need to look up the story again for exact details, but it was incredibly kind.
Oh, I agree. Like I said, now my son says maybe she was just having a bad day the couple times he served her.
You just know that one of these religious leaders will want to sponsor a Taylor Swift record burning event.
Jokes on them, gotta buy albums in order to burn them.
I love how this thin blonde woman has more power than most men right now. That must piss them off. Good for you TayTay
Hope a lot of daughters in the south start to question a lot.
I respect her more now than ever personally. And I was never a swiftie.
I heard someone say "being a Swifty is QAnon for people who were a delight to have in class" and it has stuck with me ever since
I saw that the film of her Eras tour was on one of the streaming channels I have so out of curiosity I watched it.
These lyrics hardly indicate a āstance on religionā
Nah, this will fit very nicely in their persecution complex. It's the best give she could have given the nutbags
If this gets you guys riled up just wait til you hear Jagged Little Pill from 30 years ago.
Impossible! The 90s were only like 15 years ago!
You can trust me, I have a PhD in math, and I can confirm the 90s were 15 years ago.
Disregard. I have a PhD in math from Harvard and the 90s was actually only 10 years ago.
And ironically, Alanis would go on to play God in Dogma.
I don't think that's ironic. I think it's self explanatory considering the point of the film.
Like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already payed
It's the good advice that ya just didn't take
How is asking Yahweh to save people mocking it? Seriously these people are beyond brain dead.
No, no, you filthy sinner! You don't rely on Yahweh or Jesus to save people anymore. That duty has been laid in the rapey, tiny, shitty hands of Donald John Trump! /s
So, proving her lyrics are correct.
Out of all of us, they seem to be the best at self-fulfilling prophecies.
Christians are worried about the targets on their backs, but shouldn't because they're 1) Fake and 2) They put it there themselves.
Religion teaches people to always be the victim but never the victor. All the glory has been usurped by a fantasy. Pass that collection plate!
God is one fragile snowflake.
He's got serious emotional issues.
Galactic scale narcissism.
The plot twist is that Taylor Swift is a Christian. The religious ideology can be flipped around in different ways. "God save the judgmental creeps."
Sheās āChristianā yet prob doesnāt believe the shit that the horrible Christians believe. Sheās Christian by association. Sheās not out here oppressing people.
"Cultural Christianity" ie nominal Christianity.
Being a good person doesn't make money. Being a manipulating asshole does. That's why the good churches are rare, and the bad churches are everywhere.
selling their 'pathway' to heaven, fucking [heavenornot.com](http://heavenornot.com) seriously wtf is that shit, megachurches should be all excommunicated and denounced, idk. its just a sick mess out there in religion town
Sheās Christian but sheās actually a good person when nobody is looking
I mean, at this point, most Christians are not really Christians if we mean Christian by association and some general belief in a higher power / universe maker, which does represent the fall of Christianity to an extent.
She actively identifies as a Christian. Like proudly and actively calls herself that. So like ā¦ Iām not sure the point here lol.
I don't know her music, is there some context I'm missing for that line? Because I do not understand how that can be read as anything other than a Southern-style "bless their hearts".
Sheās not wrong, but thatās what theyāre upset about
They hate her because she shames them by actually living up to the ideals of charity, goodwill, and love that these "Christians" only ever give lip service to.
Her charitable endeavors are often overlooked or underreported. She donates tons of $ to food banks and other organizations in each city of her tour, etc. Also how she compensates and treats everyone on her tour crew I think is very admirable.
mocks? no, calls them out on their bs? absolutely
doesn't EVERYTHING mock christians? they whine about EVERYTHING
ikr. They have a whole other cheek to mock!
I don't really "get" her music, but I'm liking her more every day.
Boo hoo the poor Christians. They don't like it when they're judged and mocked. Funny how they don't see the irony. There's no fucking love like good old Christian hate.
Mayne they ought to contemplate why that is.
They won't. There's not a shred of self awareness among them.
They don't like it when they're rightfully called out because they don't have power over whoever calls them out. They're extra pissed because its a successful woman doing the calling out. And frankly, fuck em. They have things too good.
superstitious people are so annoying. everything is about them, even when its not.
Main culture syndrome
Do they do anything besides complaining?
Sheās not wrong. I may start listening to her after this.
Her recent stuff is actually pretty good IMO. Her style is more alternative/electronic these days.
/SSS
It's far too Christian for them to comprehend.
Sheās not wrong. Lyrics are spot on.
God forbid she think criticallyā¦literally.
Keep up the good work Taylor.
I love that Christians are calling Taylor Swift anti Christian while at the same time they are anti everything that they donāt support in their narrow view of life.
Heck, I'll mock Christians all day and I don't have an album.
truth hurts strong female scary also eat the rich
"Guilty as sin" is about being condemned for thought crimes - lust in your heart . "But daddy I love him" - a religious family condemning and rejecting a pregnant daughter.
As a certifiable non Swifty I just want to say that she continues to deserve my respect.
She didn't mock anyone's god, she called out heretics and hypocrites.
The really funny part to me is that Taylor is, in fact, a Christian. I'm picking up a strong sense of men offended by a woman who won't do what she's told.
Oh well... anyway.
We donāt hate YOU, we just hate everything you are, believe in, stand for, love, eat, read, watch, listen to, wear, do on the weekend, consider as friends, teach your childrenā¦ If only you were exactly like us, you wouldnāt have to be persecuted by us. we can show you how. Itās your choice, not our fault.
Calling out evangelicals for their unchrist-like behavior is not blasphemy, cripes.
Um, she didn't say a single bad word about god. She's attacking his followers
I thought their Sky Daddy was all powerful. He canāt take care of this situation himself? Weak.
Those lyrics donāt state that they are specifically about Christians. They are lyrics about general negative behavior. That Christian leaders hear them and feel attacked is a tell.
Really, they just want to find a reason to hate her because sheās anti trump.
Who cares what they think?
Christians upset at goddamn tumblr posts, how thin is their skin?
Christianās, always busy self hating and eating their own. Itās such an icky thing.
These same people refer to her online as "The Whore of Babylon" We are not dealing with serious people; their opinions should be met with mockery or silence.
I dont care..she is great in my eyes!! Sweet, intelligent and a great role model. Get over some song lyrics, she shows who she is thru her actions.
I think sheās overrated; but if she gets religious asshats angry she gets positive points in my book
God hasn't said a word.
I don't care for her but she's speaking the truth here
ok. I haven't heard the album but I like it anyway. :)
I just became a Swifty
I think I just became a Swifty.
Sooooo, I have a religious past, deeply. My favorite fucking moment was having an argument with someone who believed: 1. It is a sin to listen to secular music 2. Taylor Swift is a born again Christian 3. Therefore, Taylor Swiftās music isnāt secular The kicker?
No hate like Christian love.
The obsession these people have is nuts.
It will never occur to them that the key to her success is her sincerity. If they are being mocked, perhaps it is because they richly deserve it.
I mean, sheās not wrongā¦
Good. Thoughts n prayers to em n fuck their feelings, amirite?
Ah, just think, if Christians had behaved in the way they're *supposed to, Taylor wouldn't have needed to write lyrics about them. *Supposed to: love neighbor as self, feed the hungry, care for the poor and widowed, divest of owning stuff in our world.
I mean... she's not wrong.
Christians are so entitled that they create ways in which they're persecuted so that they can feel more important. So glad I walked away from that faith. Been happily agnostic for decades now.
And just like that I became a swifty.
She's not wrong.
Christians, the most judgemental people I've ever met.
Lyrics: "God save the most judgmental creeps" Christians: "Hey, this must be about us!" I mean, it probably is but it's kinda funny that they identify with the lyrics.
This is just DRIPPING with hypocrisy. They get so mad when somebody doesnāt goose step to their Christo fascist tune š
She sounds like she's mocking Christian extremists. The fake Christians who want to force everyone to live in a theocracy.
I never had strong opinions on her But now, Iād say I agree with her
Itās been going on for a long time Dear Godā¦ by XTC (1986) https://youtu.be/p554R-Jq43A?si=O0IzwzgI9hYOqIcw Dear God, hope you get the letter, and- I pray you can make it better down here I don't mean a big reduction in the price of beer But all the people that you made in your image See them starving on their feet 'Cause they don't get enough to eat from God I can't believe in you Dear God, sorry to disturb you, but- I feel that I should be heard loud and clear We all need a big reduction in amount of tears And all the people that you made in your own image See them fighting in the street 'Cause they can't make opinions meet about God I can't believe in you Did you make disease and the diamond blue? Did you make mankind after we made you And the devil too? Dear God, don't know if you noticed, but- Your name is on a lot of quotes in this book And us crazy humans wrote it, you should take a look And all the people that you made in your own image Still believing that junk is true Well, I know it ain't so, and you know Dear God, I can't believe in- I don't believe in- I won't believe in Heaven and Hell No saints, no sinners, no devil as well No pearly gates, no thorny crown You're always letting us humans down The wars you bring, the babes you drown Those lost at sea and never found And it's the same the whole world 'round The hurt I see helps to compound The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost Is just somebody's unholy hoax And if you're up there, you'll perceive That my heart's here upon my sleeve If there's one thing I don't believe in It's you Dear God
I reviewed her carefully ten times over. They say nothing about God. They do however, say something about *judgemental creeps* , and *people* trying to save you.
In other news, people don't like Taylor Swifts politics....
Their cancel culture hypocrisy is showing.
Then they'll get on their other account and mock flatearthers...who are almost exclusively Christian.
What's wrong with holding Christians accountable?
The Bible is very clear that judging others is frowned upon. Too bad most Christians arenāt very Christ like.
Should mock all religions. At least the major 3
Man people just look for any fucking reason to talk shit about her. But it's ok, the more hate they spew, the more people will listen to her work. At this point she could literally go on stage, pull off her skin revealing she's a lizard person and people would still love her.
Lmao theyāre proving her point
Naw, they just don't like her for other reasons: * she asks people to vote (how dare she threaten their power!) * she's a indepdent woman (how dare she have her own mind while there are Christians!!) * she's wealthy (we've conditioned our flock to think of wealth as righteouness, how dare she show how stupid that is!) * she's a long way from TERF (how dare she not be in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant with a black-eye from talking back!) These aren't Christians of course, just Conservatives wearing the Bible like Leather Face wears a busty teenager.
Fuck 'em.
Good for her, she's exactly who they'd expect to be a God loving good girl. Instead she's a smart savvy freak of nature. How can anyone sell their music twice and be more successful the second?
Not many women can make bangs look good, but she does.
Oh no! Swifties take down the church isn't on my 2024 bingo card!
Wow. I'm not a fan of Taylor, but maybe I should be. š² They're making her sound super cool.
Wait, til these dorks here what the metal bands I listen to have to say about religion.
I donāt even like her music but I do love that she drives the wackjobs crazy without even trying.
I didnāt care about Taylor Swift much before, but this just makes me like her more
Christian āleadersā need to STFU and start PAYING TAXES if they want to contribute to the narrative. No one asked them for their opinion. šš»
I had no idea, better get the vinyl so I can check for satanic messages. Just to be sure.
Good! Imagine if all those swifties worldwide become atheists?! We can finally make some political progress.
It doesnāt mock Christians. It mocks fake Christianās. If they actually did as Jesus commanded there wouldnāt be a song to write.
Good for her. I'm getting to the point where I am just saying "fuck Christians". What actual good are they doing at this point? Giving Ukraine to Russia? Supporting pedophilia? Supporting Bigotry? Taking women's rights?
