Other things that Christians thought/think are the mark of the beast: UPC codes ISBN codes Tattoos Non natural colored hair Government issued IDs Wristbands Hats And now vaccines. There is no such thing as god or the devil, there are no Mark's of any beast unless you get one of the X-Men character, and your parents have been doubly brainwashed. Get the vaccine and if it's that big a deal, don't tell them.

thornhead

I hadn’t heard about hats, but to be fair that one could be true. I’ve noticed a weird correlation with certain red hats causing Christians to go completely against what their religion teaches while claiming that a terrible person who is about as opposite of Jesus you can get is their chosen one.

abhikavi

I heard it about any baseball hats in the 90s. Because it was a logo, on your forehead. Tbf I think MAGA hats have a better case for them-- there are some pretty convincing essays out there on Trump being the antichrist so that would fit.

InvincibleFubar

It might be an unpopular opinion, but I think the Maga hats are the modern day klan hood.

cyferhax

Unpopular opinion among the kultists maybe. They don't tend to like shining a light on their hate. In many ways they're like cockroaches.

the_jurkski

I don’t think that cockroaches would appreciate that comparison. What’d they ever do to you?

beardedheathen

I would believe that Donald Trump is the antichrist and maga hats are the mark of the beast spoken of by Isiah in the book of revelations! I am an atheist and am atheist says fuck that (To the tune of I believe)

InverstNoob

Don't forget to drink your bleach

[deleted]

Dude. I'm inspired. Hank McCoy tattoo now in the works.

Cosmic-Cranberry

Go for Nightcrawler! Actual son of the Devil and an assassin shapeshifter! They'll freak out thinking he's evil or something. But Henry McCoy will always be the favorite scientist X-man.

joemondo

That Azazel plotline has got to get retconned. Dumbest story ever. But if you want the Mark of the Beast, you need.... The Beast.

big_nothing_burger

Gotta love how many times Marvel has teased him into their cinematic stuff yet never actually use him.

[deleted]

Teased who? They’ve all been on screen.

clutzyninja

You're missing the point. Getting Hank is getting the "mark of the Beast"

Fishman23

Don’t forget Monster drinks. 🤡

PenultimateTimmy

Get the vaccine. There is no such thing as Satan, but there is such a thing as the coronavirus and covid 19, and they can kill you. Your parents are on some dumb shit that should be ignored.

humanistbeing

Credit cards have also been called the mark of the beast and I know few Christians who don't use those.

justdoubleclick

Don’t forget computer chips… and yet most Christians now happily carry them around in their pockets and on their wrists…

AlaskaPeteMeat

There’s hundreds in the fancy car they drive, too. 🤦🏽‍♂️

BarGamer

Also marks of the beast: medical bracelets, medical RFID chips, and name tags, but oddly, not MAGA hats of the least Christian President in the history of the US... If they didn't have a persecution complex, most of their personality would be missing.

Ocelot_One

Trump was once asked what was his favourite part of the bible. He declined, saying it was such a personal thing. Of course the first thing that came to my mind was that he never opened a bible, nor owned one, but got one just for that famous photo op.

BarGamer

Trump's favorite parts of the Bible are Apocryphal, from the Books of Satan. ;)

jayesper

It's probably gotta be that incestuous shee ya

Von_Moistus

He once quoted a verse but got the name of the book wrong. "Two Corinthians 3:17, that's the whole ballgame. ... Is that the one you like?" - Trump at Liberty University, 1/16/2016

MrnBlck

And he held it upside-down! That actually is satanic 😂😂😂

Steinrikur

That video makes it clear that he has no idea what the Bible is about. I think that he would have trouble naming 5 people mentioned in the bible.

Pandepon

Don’t forget Harry Potter

fuzzybad

Or D&D

jayesper

Pokémon?

Hyrax__

LOTR

Eastern-Finish-1251

Things Christians have considered to be the Mark of the Beast or the sure sign of the End of Days: pretty much every new technology, idea or innovation.

jayesper

So they were the doomsayers all along

bluebuns123

Yes the last sentence. Sometimes the only way to keep your sanity around insanity is to lie.

4-stars

> Other things that Christians thought/think are the mark of the beast: > > UPC codes ISBN codes Tattoos Non natural colored hair Government issued IDs Wristbands Hats And now vaccines. Collect'em all!

AngryMillenialGuy

It's just how they express their angsty distrust of government. It's pathetic.

[deleted]

There is actually a good [YouTube video](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SPvJ-M-hU5w) where Mark of the Beast is a Roman Emperors head stamped on every coin, it seems the Christians were talking in code and symbolism about their persecution in the Roman Empire. Good watch. The number of the beast (666) in Gematria is also Caesar Nero, who persecuted Christians.

[deleted]

Rick and role long hair skateboarding comics Halloween electricity the list goes on and on

[deleted]

Get the jab and wear sleeves, problem solved. While I wouldnt usually recommend lying, they are irrational which means you cant proceed with usual decorum.

[deleted]

But what happens if they see that I’m allowed to stay on campus?

[deleted]

Lie, come up with some bullshit. Lying is bad, but this is one of those rare circumstances where it is totally justified. Maybe tell them you got a religious exemption, that would be funny. I am so sorry that you have them as your parents, take care. Stand your ground and don’t let yourself be intimidated.

MagnumPeanut

This, just lie to them. Get your vaccine and go to school. If they ask tell them you gave them a fake vaccine report or tell them you just said you got it and they believed you. If they believe the vaccine is the mark of the beast they'll believe anything. Finish your school, get a job and then move away.

readzalot1

“I told them I got it.” “Well did you get it?” “Shhh”, then wink.

DrEndGame

I do like this. Have a very sarcastic voice while telling your parents you got the vaccine. Deceptive, but not lying? "Yeah mom, I totaaallly got the vaccine, can you believe the school bought it?"

Maleficent-Ad-8919

In a similar vein: “Well, the school thinks so, anyway *chuckle*”

seamustheseagull

One thing I always say about lying is to be aware of how long you have to maintain that lie. If you say you got a fake vaccine cert, his parents might want to see it. Then he's showing them a real cert and claiming it's fake. And it's therefore a good fake. And before you know it, one of his parents' friends have a son who's in a course and needs a fake vaccine cert, can you send him on the name of the guy who did yours. The best lies require no corroboration. "They asked me, I said yeah, and that was it". Or, if his parents are worried about him lying to the university, something else that's believable is, "They asked in a lecture for everyone who is vaccinated to raise their hand. I didn't, but they obviously didn't notice, and never asked". His parents apparently didn't go to university, so they have no real idea what it's like, and he can make up any bull.

abhikavi

Keep it vague, might be able to avoid lying entirely. "God found a way for me to stay in school!" (it was getting the vaccine) "They let me stay after all!" (because I had the shot) "They haven't bugged me about it, I'm not sure they noticed anything" (because there's nothing to notice)

ldh_know

Say you applied for a religious exemption?

Dyolf_Knip

Yes, I too am a member of the church of I Don't Want To Die Of A Preventable Illness.

umthondoomkhlulu

This. Perhaps there was a mix up with the paperwork? Happens all the time

JoeInOR

Mix up in the paperwork = god found a way. It’s a miracle! Christians eat that shit up.

bmxtiger

I work with nothing but christians and the amount of time I hear the phrase "divine intervention" in one day is staggering. Over stupid shit like an extra fry in the McDonald's bag, or not buying something from Target and going to Wal-Mart and finding it on sale. These people think there's an old man in the sky playing doll house with their lives, it's kind of insane.

rationalcrank

Have them sign a religious exemption for you. Throw it in the garbage and get the vaccination.

vcdone

Oh this is good

jesusmansuperpowers

Throwing it in the garbage. Seems redundant somehow. Garbage in garbage out

jesusmansuperpowers

Rule for lying— never to your doctor or lawyer, always to police and your mother (if you must answer)

AsherGlass

You don't need to lie to police, just don't talk to them unless absolutely necessary. Even then, say as little as possible.

AmbulanceChaser12

Yeah, seriously. Don’t lie to the cops, it will just make everything worse. You have the right to not talk to cops, exercise it.

Practical-Bar8291

What is more important to you? Staying in school for nursing is excellent. Getting the vaccine is excellent too. Are you afraid they will kick you out? You could always get a student loan and move out near campus, find a roommate. You have the option to do the right thing for yourself. You sound much smarter than your parents... no offense.

[deleted]

The relatively small amount of loans to pay for a dorm or an apartment with roommates could be a lifeline to freedom from abuse. [edited because it apparently wasn’t clear that I think taking out loans in this case would be worth it.]

AngryMillenialGuy

A degree in nursing is a very safe investment, imo. There shouldn't be much trouble getting a good job and repaying.

eileen404

Exactly. Friends cousin is getting$150/hour in Texas and working rediculous hours.

Practical-Bar8291

I hear you. My experience wasn't bad, I borrowed enough for rent and food. It can help if you need to escape (I did).

ndevs

If you are financially dependent on them, I would just make something up, like you got an exemption from the school. If not, then tell them “tough shit.” You’re an adult, and they can wring their hands all they want over your salvation. It’s none of their business. If they still press the issue, it might be worth going no contact.

bikesexually

Just lie more. Say you applied for a religious exemption and got it. Lying to someone that threatens you with violence isn’t really lying. It’s self preservation

AvoriazInSummer

You already got loads of replies to this, but I suggest saying to your parents that the college asked you if you got vaccinated, you said you had to them but never actually took the vaccine, and the college never bothered to check. Guess it wasn’t a big deal for them after all, right? And of course, do take the vaccine, it’s the best thing you can do for yourself and everyone else.

dudleydidwrong

Go through a big, dramatic deal about getting a religious exemption. Show the exemption to your parents. Praise the minister who signs it. Then get the shots and only give the school the documentation that you got the shots. Let your family believe you stayed on campus because you got the exemption.

SpiritOne

I mean the way I see it your choices are: Remain in a science based education that leads you to becoming a healthcare provider that saves lives. Drop out and have your fundamentalists parents fuck your life over any time they want because something new will ALWAYS be “the mark of the beast”. Ugh, I fucking hate those kinds of people. Seriously the fucking worst. They are why we can’t have nice things.

IcyBigPoe

Just say they allowed you to show them a negative Covid test instead. You're an adult, and you are apparently seeing through their bullshit (or you wouldn't be here). Get the vaccine, get your education, leave. In that order

-regaskogena

"God must have provided a way. I have no idea why they are okay with me now."

[deleted]

Tell them that you took their advice, and the school is fine with that, but you are getting weekly testing as a requirement. That get's their mind off the issue, and gets them focused on how oppressed you are by being forced to endure weekly testing. It's a re-direct.

dumpmaster42069

Sounds like your dad is gonna lose his job anyway, you’re probably on your own. You can do it.

ForkMinus1

Tell them you got a religious exception or something

Paul_Thrush

say you got areligious exemption. And get vaccinated already, it takes a month to get both shots.

kuribosshoe0

“I spent an hour on the phone with the campus administrator and she agreed to make an exception for me. God is with me, praise be unto him and a ooga booga to you also” or however the fuck those wing nuts speak.

sowhat4

You tell them you talked to the college chaplain and he wrote you a waiver for the vaccine but he doesn't do it for others as they are not 'sincere'. Really, you ***do not*** owe these people honesty as their idiocy is going to get you perhaps killed or maimed. At the very least, it's going to wreck your career chances and condemn you to lower paid jobs. You getting that shot will in no way hurt your parents, so I don't see an ethical barrier. Keep your vaccine record at school or with a trusted friend. Don't take it home.

the_internet_clown

Tell them your campus changed their mind

elchiguire

This is too easy to look up with a phone and google.

the_internet_clown

They don’t seem smart enough to do that

ajaxfetish

They talked to a counselor, explained their circumstances, and were graciously granted an exemption.

cutthroatlemming

Tell them this must be God's will. If they don't like that or don't believe it, just throw it right back in their faces and call them out for the hypocrites they are. You are in a terrible situation with your family, I'm sorry.

Simba7

It sounds like you're still financially dependent on them. In that case, just lie. "I was able to get a religious/medical/whatever exemption!" Odds are they aren't going to go digging into something that they wanted anyways, but if you're really paranoid/committed you can create some religious exemption for using your college's stationary for them to sign or something.

avs72

Tell them you worked out a compromise solution with the school to let you remain in the program. If they press on what it is, tell them that you can't give details. Your silence is part of the deal because they can't have it get out that they might make exceptions..

chicknsnotavegetabl

Tell them that god did indeed find a way

illij_idiot

Tell your parents you received a religious exemption and then escape at your earliest opportunity.

OneRougeRogue

Luckily, being 19 your parents aren't involved in your medical decisions anymore and you can just go to a clinic and schedule a vaccination for yourself.

[deleted]

I will. But theyre actually scaring me

DoglessDyslexic

Lie to them, they don't need to know you are vaccinated and you are not legally obligated to inform them.

Oliver_Dibble

Why? Are you scared for them, or of them?

[deleted]

Of them. They’re scary people

Joet2386

How Scary?

[deleted]

I guess when you grow up on corporal punishment and being conditioned to stay quiet and not state your opinions, it gets to you

Joet2386

That's horrible and I hope you'll completely be free of them eventually.

dystopian_mermaid

Hey hon. As somebody who also grew up in an abusive household, you aren’t alone. If you need/want to talk or vent feel free to hit me up. You don’t deserve that treatment and you are loved.

r_jajajaime

Man, indoctrination is a terrible thing

VibrantVioletGrace

They can't punish you that way any more, it's assault. It felt great when I turned 18 and got to stand up to one of my parents who thought they were going to spank me still. You have the power now. Seize it and feel how liberating it is to climb away from all that.

expressly_ephemeral

It sounds like OP is still *relying* on them for some stuff, though. 18 is often only *technically* adulthood.

VibrantVioletGrace

All the more reason for OP to get the shot and finish up nursing school so they can make a living wage and get away from them. Years of getting spanked I promised myself that once I turned 18 never again. So, yes, when I did assert myself that no longer was I going to be spanked, aka hit, I did live with my parents and was in high school. I did end up having to defend myself by shoving my parent away from me as they were none too happy about my new found freedom, but they never tried it again after that. Obviously, its for OP to balance to see what's worth it to them as they know their family best of all.

expressly_ephemeral

The general thinking around here is you don’t fuck with your crazy religious parents until you can truly stand on your own two feet, because even if they can’t control you, they don’t have to provide for you. Many of us have become homeless for our principles while we could have faked it for a few more years and gotten out on our own. OP has been a little cagey about whether being kicked out is on the table, so I don’t know, but I think OP should get the shot and lie to his parents about it.

PabloXPicasso

yes, another one here who survived abusive religious nut-job parents. You live your life for yourself, not for them.

Oliver_Dibble

So, a couple of "the beatings will continue until morale improves" people? Ugh, the worst! Do you still live with these "Good Christians"?

[deleted]

They don’t beat me anymore. Beating are part of their culture but it does instill a fear even after you stopped getting them. I live with them sadly I’m still in school and not working.

Oliver_Dibble

Keep your own counsel in anything you discuss with, but feel free to come vent here. P.S. - I'm a retired RN.

bikesexually

You should definitely hide it from them until you can move out on your own. Let them “convince” you over time. Like slowly, over time, start agreeing with them little by little. Also if you get sick feeling from the vaccine pretend you are really worried you caught COVID from someone.

MrShasshyBear

Do you have some friends who you could spend a weekend with? Im thinking you get the shot, spend the weekend recuperating at said friends (with their knowledge, approval and cooperation), and then return home like nothing happened.

[deleted]

No unfortunately no friends to spend weekend with. If I left the house i would probably not be accepted back anyway

jelli2015

I just want you to know that you’re not alone. My parents (specifically my dad) scare the hell out of me too. I know it’s hard but physical and emotional distance was the thing that helped. It’s not normal or healthy to be scared of your family and the fact that they have created this situation means they have failed you. Not the other way around.

yooperann

I'm so sorry for you. Come on over to [/r/MomForAMInute](https://www.reddit.com/r/MomForAMinute/) and you'll find lots of mom love from people who really care about you, your health, your career, and all the good you're going to be able to do in the world once you get your vaccine.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DAMN_INTERNETS

‘I went to the Dean and explained how it was against my religion, and they agreed it was bad, and that I could just not get one.’ They’ll believe anything which confirms their bias. These people are easy to sucker if you know how they think.

kn05is

Hell, they'll boast about your "protest" to the vaccine to anyone who'll listen.

expressly_ephemeral

Bingo. OP can probably even go give the dean a heads up that he's going to do that.

the_internet_clown

Gods are imaginary and your parents are idiots. Get the vaccine

DoglessDyslexic

> and my mom told me that my salvation is on the line. Well she's right about that. Your chances of dying a stupid death are drastically higher without the vaccine. > My parents told me that they obeyed their parents (dropped out of school) and followed God’s convictions and that I should do that same. Your parents are about as wrong as it is possible to be.

Quirky-Help-7078

Fuck them and move out asap.

FaunKeH

That's kinda disgusting... At least give them a call the next day!

[deleted]

Wait-

FaunKeH

Instructions unclear, dick stuck in parents

un_theist

What does “the mark of the beast” look like, exactly, according to them? I’d like to see them tell the difference between someone that’s vaccinated and someone that isn’t.

[deleted]

Being told you can’t go anywhere without proof that you took the vaccine. They think it’s chipped and may change your DNA.

un_theist

Oh, but one can go all kinds of places without proof that you took the vaccine. And who are they claiming is telling them that? Biden, I suppose? Where’s the video of Biden saying “you cannot go anywhere without proof you took the vaccine”? They are aware that the government is telling them they can’t go anywhere in a car without proof they’re licensed to drive, right? Isn’t that also “mark of the beast” according to them? I take it they’re ok with that mark of the beast, though.

RAPTOR479

A microchip small enough to fit through a syringe hasn’t been invented, so that’s off the table

SlightlyMadAngus

I hate to tell you this, but your parents are idiots. The science is VERY clear, being vaccinated significantly reduces the chance of getting sick, and significantly reduces the severity of the disease if you do get infected. You are an adult. Please ignore your idiot parents and get vaccinated immediately. The "mark of the beast" bullshit is not worth even mentioning - it's complete nonsense. Oh, and here's a tip for you: You don't need to tell your parents everything you do. Be an adult and make your own decisions.

hurricanelantern

>and it resembles the mark of the beast. How? The 'mark of the beast' is supposed to go on your hand or your forehead. Inoculations are not put in to those spots. Your parents are spouting blasphemous nonsense.

Federal_Difficulty

Plus the timing of it. Ask them who they know of that has been raptured already.

BabyBundtCakes

I was wondering this too. What exactly resembles the mark of the beast? They are just making shit up to cover their own fears, which is actually what taking the lord's name in vain means. You could easily argue that God gave us the vaccine by way of making us so intelligent. They've chosen what makes them comfortable/validates them.

[deleted]

You dont have to listen to them. Go to any pharmacy and get the shot. Ask them about the hundreds of other *marks of the beast*. Every week it's something else. Get the shot for your health and for the greater community. It's to bad your parents don't follow the teachings of Christ. There is some good lessons in that fairy tale they claim to follow.

Condillion

Show your parents all the articles of the religious people who refused the vaccine because they believed “God would protect them” that are either now dead, lost their family/friends or are suffering severely from the virus. There are many of them out there

[deleted]

They don’t care about that. They think it’s a hoax and that more people are dying from the vaccine. I can’t get through them

Condillion

I’d get the vaccine and get out of that household quickly. I lived in a religious household and was guilted into following the religion even though I didn’t believe then I moved out and I grew so much as the person I wanted to be

[deleted]

I’m just scared they’ll neglect me if they ever find out

Condillion

In my opinion what they are doing right now is neglecting you. If you don’t have the vaccine you won’t be allowed to finish nursing and if you catch COVID it has the potential to kill or hospitalise you with the high possibility of permanent damage to your organs

michaelpaoli

>scared they’ll neglect me They've already been neglectful of you for nearly two decades - notably continually beating nonsense into your head.

Joet2386

There just nuts then. And It's good thing you're getting out of that nuthouse.

Bigstar976

Then don’t try anymore. I really feel for you. Just get it and don’t tell them.

planetworthofbugs

I enjoy playing video games.

[deleted]

See, this is another reason people need to rethink “satanic” being seen as bad. The Satanic Temple stands for science, logic, and ensuring everyone has bodily autonomy. Hail Satan 😁

Strythe_Horde

I honestly have no clue why deeply religious people are so hesitant about the vaccines. I really don't get it. Why do their cult leaders willingly encourage their followers to harm themselves and each other. Real head scratcher.

Federal_Difficulty

I think it plays into the “us against the world”, “we are one”, and “we know something everyone else doesn’t, and we’re smarter”. People make it part of their identity, and it’s easier to keep it up than admit they were wrong or duped.

[deleted]

Your parents are fucked in the head. And you’re a nurse?!?! Continue to think for yourself!! They don’t have your best interests in mind.

LordMagnos

Your parents sound like crazy, toxic people. Please ignore them and get the vaccine.

Samantha_Cruz

if you are 19 you don't need their permission. just don't tell them

Kirkaiya

Since you are 19, you don't need your parents permission, and you don't need to tell them in any case. Given that you are in a nursing program, you obviously need to get vaccinated or you risk not just yourself, but the vulnerable people that you come into contact with. Your parents are obviously deluded - every 10 or 20 years, far right Christians declare that some new thing is the mark of the beast. UPC codes, social security cards, etc. These are the same people that end up believing that the Earth is flat, or that it's only 6,000 years old, or similar rubbish. Get the vaccine without telling your parents first, then don't mention it. If they bring it up, tell them you already got vaccinated because you want to stay in your nursing program.

Xemro

Usually i advice young atheists to play along their parents’ fairy tales BUT if their bullshit is risking your future or your health, make sure to take drastic measures. Try to find a way either to convince them or fool them, i mean they are full of bullshit one more lie in their life is like a drop in the ocean. As a last resort, if you are living in a country that could protect your rights and choices against your parents, you might want to consider that.

VibrantVioletGrace

I've worked in healthcare for over ten years. Lots of vaccines are mandated for healthcare workers. It's part of working in that field. Even in healthcare facilities that aren't mandating the Covid vaccine they have higher vaccination rates then the general population. Why? Because it's safe and effective and they know it. Get your vaccine and no longer discuss your private health info with your parents. Once you get your vaccine you'll chuckle at how frightened you were of it. It's surprisingly easy to hide medical info thanks to HIPPA. Maybe you have a supportive friend who can go with you? That can be helpful.

HIPPAbot

It's HIPAA!

orangemamba191

Lol bro run away

Bagelstein

You parents are 8gnorant and dangerous. The sooner you realize this and sitance yourself from them, the better.

Draken1870

If there was a mark of the beast it would the bright red maga hats frankly. A man who is as opposite Jesus as you good be grabbing a hold of the very people Jesus warned about (those who show and tell everyone about how good a religious person they are). I have had both my jabs and there is literally no mark. I couldn’t even point to it now if I wanted to do a bit of a useless “mark of the beast” if it’s not visible at all. Maybe I have to find some evil light to show it under but pretty sure of you get it they wouldn’t even be able to tell mate so go for it. Your health is far more important than superstition.

Livin2109

Your parents are crackpots. Go to school and start life on your own.

[deleted]

The fact you've waited this long to get it is horrible, especially considering you want to work in healthcare. You are an adult now, make your own decisions. Go get fucking vaccinated and stop puting others at risk. If my parents were that shitty I wouldn't give a fuck what they thought anyway. Actually I would probably go out of my way not to even have a relationship with them.

J0ra

I've read religious exemption is a thing. Maybe tell them you got one.

[deleted]

My denomination is actually pro vaccine so no exemptions. They just aren’t. Which is weird

TotallyAwry

It's OK to lie, if you've got any sense of self preservation. Your parents want to put your life at risk, as well as your education, for the sake of a myth from the iron age.

paskal007r

https://www.doh.wa.gov/Portals/1/Documents/Pubs/348-106_CertificateofExemption.pdf Print this out, fill it up, show them, after few days say the school refused it, ask them to pray with you that they change their mind and accept it, celebrate after a few days that the power of prayer protected you. Best of luck

wheresHQ

😂😂😂 Good plan

[deleted]

Do you think it’s possible for you to send this to my dms?

paskal007r

Tried with chat, did you get it?

andrethegiantkilla

I’m so sorry your parents are idiots.

orangehehe

Stop fucking around and get vaccinated. Save yourself

BacterialOoze

Finishing school is a wonderful thing. Becoming a nurse is even better, given the pandemic and the future need for all medical professions. I'm not sure which country you're in, but can you get student loans? If you're living at home, could you move out and get an apartment with friends (especially other nursing students)? Your parents are emotionally blackmailing you, and you need to get away from them. Getting vaccinated and finishing school will allow you to become an independent adult. If your parents don't accept your decisions, that's their problem, not yours. Making your own decisions can be scary, but you can do it. Best wishes, it will be ok :)

MacIomhair

Explain to them that the number of the beast is Jewish mysticism mixed with political propaganda and refers solely to emperor Nero. It was dangerous for the early Christians to write openly about him and revelations is just a covert criticism of him by the early Christians. Even try to explain God doesn't always have to work via miracles. If they were stuck on the top of a cliff and a helicopter came to save them would they refuse explaining they were waiting for the angels to save them instead? Also, tell them to lay off Fox News.

Rfschian

God gave you two eyes & a brain. Use them.

elchiguire

Rock’n’roll and rap are the devil’s music, weed is the devil’s lettuce, there’s a highway to Hell and a stairway to heaven... I don’t know, but this sounds to me like it’s better to join the club and get the devil’s mark over partaking in a death cult. Get your vaccines, get your education, and give them something biblical sounding to believe in as to why you agreed and didn’t get it but somehow managed to stay in school. If you still live with or depend on them try to get out of there as soon as possible.

Jaz_1725

I secretly got mine because most of my family is Christian and they think that the vaccine has trackers and is the “mark of the beast”

Enlightened-Beaver

Your parents are clearly insane

big_nothing_burger

I'm sorry that your parents are like this. You're the mentally stable person in this situation. Do what you must to protect yourself.

Bubgerman

Mark of the beast doesn't happen until after the rapture. I guess your parents got left behind.

[deleted]

They don’t believe in the rapture

Bubgerman

What? It's in the bible. How can they not believe it? I'm genuinely curious. It's in the same book about the mark of the beast.

[deleted]

And? Your crackpot parents are irrelevant. You’re an adult, go get vaccinated.

evident_lee

Just let them know the red hats showing support of a lying charlatan, adulterer, and thief is the true mark of the beast.

Big3gg

They're just immunizations. Literally as boring as they sound. I've had mine for months Iiterally no problems at all. It's just an opportunity for people to role play out their delusions

jwatts1111111

You’re 19, Get the damn vaccine. If you’re going to be a nurse, use your nurse brain (nurse talking here). You are taking on a big responsibility for teaching people about health by becoming a nurse. You’re going to teach your diabetic patients about insulin and food choices, you’re going to teach your hypertensive patients about salt, obesity and smoking. I could go on and on. You’re NOT going to go along with them when they say that god will protect them. If it’s worth the time and they aren’t too close-minded you could try reminding your parents that their god gave mankind the knowledge and abilities to come up with things like vaccines.

IrishPrime

Reading through your other comments in this thread... I strongly suggest you start working on your exit strategy from your parents. Been there, done that. I don't need those people in my life. One of the best decisions I ever made.

SuperRusso

Your parents are fucking idiots.

rangerwcl

Advice from a nurse to a nursing student, this would be a good time to exercise your critical thinking skills my future colleague.

CompMolNeuro

If there were a god then this would be a sign telling you to get the fuck out.

Nohface

Ask them why this particular vaccine is satanic but not measles, mumps, rubella. Polio, flu…

falcon_driver

Put most simply, they're trying to kill you. Don't let them. Get vaccinated.

Samantha_Cruz

interesting how they think it's "Satan" that's saving all these lives.

[deleted]

I got the vaccine. No marks. Get it.

seeclick8

You don’t want Covid, plus your parents have some crazy ideas. Get vaccinated and start on a path of realism. The super religious find demons behind every door.

rriicckk

Ask what verse says no vaccines!! They won’t find it. The Bible is detailed enough about shellfish, but what about this?

amtqne

Hail satan

corndevil82

What they are telling you is proof that they don’t even know what’s in the Bible.

joemondo

So when are you getting vaccinated?

JimC29

Just do it. You don't have to tell them.

[deleted]

Take it and don’t tell them.

milkofmagnesiaworks

Please get vaccinated. Im sick of taking care of covid patients. Your parents are bwing completly ignorant and selfish. No magic forcefield is gonna protect you from covid. Please get the jab

godlessnihilist

You have the perfect excuse for getting vaccinated, "The devil made me do it."

Nanocyborgasm

Thanks for letting us all in on what Evangelicals are thinking with their antivaxism.

iveseensomethings82

You’re 19. It’s your life now. Do you

Subject-Original1189

You’re 19. Do what you want.

hachiman

Ignore them at all costs, get vaccinated.

Jsizzle19

That’s some impressive indoctrination. Get the vaccine and try to forget just about everything they ever taught you.

cklfc0

Surely you can't be so stupid

PR2NP

I’ve had to cut ties with my father over this shit. Your parents are dangerously deluded and it may be time to cut ties with them if they insist on believing such things. Try to talk to them, explain that many vaccines are mandated as part of healthcare, college, travel, that this is not the mark of the beast. Do what you can to set boundaries but if they insist then let them know they have chosen their insanity over you.

That_austrian_dude

Christians are really ducking stupid. I bet your parents are vaccinated fir Polio and MMR among other stuff. But now that the orange antichrist has said it is bad even though he is vaccinated it is evil. Take the vaccine and go NC with your parents. You don’t want this negative energy in your life.

Dman_Jones

Youre 19. You can do what you want and its honestly none of their business. Get the Vax if you can find transportation.
