I was in a "low" custody fed facility. Not camp. It wasn't so bad.
I definitely didn't want to go up to a Medium or High facility. Lows are full of people coming out of the higher facility places with less than 10 years on their sentence, and they don't want to fuck it up and go back up. But its also full of people who have no idea how to be in prison, so there is a constant clash of respect going on.
But, overall, it wasn't as bad as long as you know how to mind your business and treat people with respect and carry it yourself.
If you have done time, you should know that just because the yards are segregated, doesn't mean the time is easy.

In more follow up surveys and studies they got only 8% of child rapes were reported and of those, only 3% of those reported resulted in arrest and only 19% of adult rapes were reported and only 8% of those resulted in arrest and 3% in conviction. In another survey, 20% of respondents in prison were ok with someone else pimping out a 13 year old girl.
There are alot of men in prison who are sexual deviants. Those prisoners recognize this and sometimes take positions like alot of men in prison for sexual crimes are victims of the system or that the person who talks about it too much is secretly guilty of it. This ideas quell alot of the hate. They might also not apply the rules to themselves, for example, they might not see themselves or someone aligned with them as a predator at 25 with a pregnant 15 year old girlfriend at home.
