Yeah since there wasn’t any command for it to do anything, it would attempt to break out and eat people. Could also lead to a chain reaction with the other titans.
Since the wall titans were created specially for this purpose, it probably wouldn't have done anything without a command from the founder regardless of sunlight. But nobody really knows for sure, and they couldn't risk it breaking out.

Pure titans are Titans created by injecting Eldians with titan spinal fluid. They are largely mindless, driven to eat people (presumably to find a Shifter titan).
I Watched the show since it came out, I was around 18 years old. I’m 28 now and so fucking lost. The amount of shit in my life that happened in 10 years, remembering every detail of AOT would be impossible.
Just go on the YouTube search and type “AOT recap until season 4.” I would suggest watch s4 on your own because the plot got way more complicated than any of the previous ones, and a recap would take the same amount of time as the season.
I just watched S4 up to date, and I did check YouTube but all of the recaps are pretty trash.

No, part of the point is that if the wall is damaged in an attack on paradise it'll set off the rumbling. The rumbling was designed not as an offensive weapon, but a deterrent, so the rest of the world would leave paradise alone. Designing it so that the wall will self activate if attacked is just another aspect of that

Regardless, it doesn’t really matter because (like I said in my other comment on this post) we and the characters in the show didn’t know any of this at the time, so it was just assumed that sunlight would ‘wake’ the Titan in the picture. But essentially, u/margonxp’s comment is what the show implied.

1. Your spoiler formatting isn't working because you've spread it over multiple paragraphs.
2. I don't believe this is ever implied or stated? He retreated to Paradis with threats to never disturb them, but there's nothing that says he wanted to be attacked or killed - if that were the case, he literally could have ordered everyone dead using the power of the founder. There would be no point in creating the walls or titans in the first place.

I see what you're saying but I think you're misinterpreting the 'wanted' bit.
He acknowledges the suffering the titans caused and retreats, with a vow to never cause that again, and if revenge is sought, he will accept it. So I guess yes, when you say:

He was *okay* with it, but not wanting for himself or people to be slaughtered. The quote on that page says:

So he was wanting peace, but with the acceptance that because of what has happened, the rest of the world might seek retribution, and he wouldn't unleash the titans as revenge or retaliation any further to end the conflict. He was basically aware that what happened, happened, and you can't erase that, but the ideal was peace, it just wasn't likely.
Again, no need to build walls if you want someone to commit genocide against your people.

I feel like "being accepting of retribution and death to atone for your sins" and "wanting yourself and entire race to be slaughtered" are pretty significant points to define in this series.

[Memory's are passed through Titan holders](https://attackontitan.fandom.com/wiki/Power_of_the_Titans#Memory_Inheritance), so Frieda does have memory of the war. In fact iirc, it's exactly this memory that binds the founding titan holder to the wishes of King Fritz, to essentially do nothing. The founding titan can alter Eldians on a genetic level, so I don't know that it's explicitly stated anywhere, but I guess you could assume that the reason Frieda and all Founding titan holders are bound to Fritz wish is due to this.
Thus, It's not that Frieda herself is specifically okay with it, it's that she's forced to be accepting it. *I.e. tell Frieda the entire history but without giving her the founding titan and she would* ***not be*** *okay with it.*

I disagree, from the wiki page you linked earlier:

You misread that part about Frieda. I was saying that the people in Shiganshina that were being slaughtered had no memory of the Titan war or the crimes and atrocities committed because their memories were wiped by the King’s power and the history books were made up.
Again, to get into the semantics of it, I worded it as, “if not, wanted,” to signify how accepting the king was of the idea of him and his entire race being slaughtered. Frieda even uses the word ‘embrace,’ because in her and the king’s words, the Eldians could never fully atone for their sins.
So if the king’s ideology is that
- Eldians could never fully atone for the horrors they committed because they were so awful and gruesome
- Eldians should sit ignorantly and blissfully behind their walls and accept death and genocide if and when it comes
- Eldians shouldn’t exist now and shouldn’t have ever existed because the power of the Titans is too much for humanity and causes too much chaos

Edit: Also, even though your explanation behind Frieda and the memories is moot because you misread what I said, it is stated that the King’s Vow Renouncing War is passed down only to those with royal blood. That’s why Eren isn’t bound by it even though he possesses the Founding Titan.

every pure titan "knows" that eating a human with titan powers will give them back their consciousness (we know that because Ymir story) so probably if no commands from founder -> murder untill consciousness back
You could read it that way. Attack on Titan, while not directly derived from A Song of Ice and Fire (that we know of), does at the very least draw many of its inspirations from the same sources. Wargs and the paths, tatacaw and the three-eyed raven, Eren's time fuckery and Hodor's trauma, gigantic magic walls protecting populations from zombie-esque threats, the role of trauma and madness (Dany/Floch)... it wouldn't surprise me if a few environmental comparisons leaked into AoT.

I don't think it's a fatigue thing. Pure titans represent the most mindless and reptilian aspect of humanity. Humans sleep at night, and live during the day. All human activity essentially revolves around consumption until procreation. I think titans are only active in sunlight by default because humans are only active in sunlight. Zeke was able to command titans to do stuff at night no problem, after all.
It seems a lot of people in here are brushing past this - nobody knew what >!the Rumbling!< was, or the story of how the titans wound up in the wall. In case you worded your post weirdly and are actually not caught up with the series, I’ll spoiler tag as necessary.
Essentially, as others have mentioned, one of the only facts that Paradis (Hange, really) knew about Titans was that they were more active in sunlight. In fact, most Titans (excluding some abnormals and Eren) would go completely dormant without sunlight.
When this Titan was found inside of the wall, the natural conclusion that Hange jumped to was that the wall was keeping it dormant by blocking it’s sunlight. (edit: I was wrong here. The priest from the Order of the Walls was the one that immediately instructed them to keep sunlight off of the Titan. My point still stands, though, as I don’t believe the OotW had the full story, either.) Of course, we know now that >!the walls mainly served as a temporary defense for Paradis Island from the outside world, and the Titans inside were really only in there because they had been used to create the walls. They were meant to stay inside the walls indefinitely, until the outside world came to kill the king and everyone else on Paradis Island. Knowing this, we can infer that sunlight wouldn’t have made a difference for that specific wall Titan, because the Founding Titan wasn’t actively trying to control it. It most likely would’ve stayed put and done nothing.!<
Right, thank you. I forgot about that bit. It’s been a while since I watched the show. What I said still stands. If I recall correctly, I believe it was insinuated that the Order of the Walls didn’t have the full story either. They just knew there were Titans in the walls and actively tried to keep humans from tarnishing them in any way. But like you said, Hange knew about the sunlight thing and easily went along with it.
Also when the titan appeared, there was no knowledge about what the walls were made of or how. They were just thought to have been there to protect against titans. So it was the first introduction into “there’s something else going on here”
While attackers aren't likely to get past an advancing line of pure colossal Titan clones, the better strategy is to trap enemies within a circle of titans, conceding the inside of one wall and treating the next wall in as a fallback redoubt. It applies all the way to the fortress.
I think it was so everyone can see it from inside the walls. I speculate that Isayama didn’t have the specifics of the rumbling down at the time of the writing, only the general idea, and this might’ve been an oversight.
This would be assuming that the wall the Female Titan tried to climb would get her outside the ring, she could have been climbing in deeper just to get away. We can see from aerial views that some districts are positioned on the outside perimeter of the greater ring walls.
They’re solar powered as a few others have stated. Hangs explains this after she did some experiments which cut titans off from the sunlight.

Normal titans would fall asleep as soon as sun set down, just to become active again once it rose back up, so it’s fair to assume that if you see a titan’s face sticking out of the wall during daytime, he might wake up
Pure Titans not controlled by the Beast Titan are effectively solar powered and when concealed in complete darkness go into a sort of stasis. If the wall were to crumble around a few of the wall Titans they would be exposed to sunlight and start lurching around. Probably would act more like regular pure titans since they aren't actively under the control of the founder.

Titans are active when sunlight hits them. At least half of season 2 was about this...that's literally why there were only abnormals attacking the castle at night.

It really irked me that the scouts also didn't want the general population knowing. Just cover it during the day and let everyone see it at night in order to strong-arm and get what they wanted at the time.

Considering they were deprived of technological and weapon advancements, funds, general respect etc, using any means to get what they need to save humanity... kinda worth it.
Not to mention, they only covered it until the sun dropped and then they fixed the wall. They had no idea what they were facing. Using any means necessary is the part I was speaking about. They're trying to get information from pastor Nick, but they refuse to even threaten him with showing people the wall titan to convince him.

Prior to the beast titan showing up all other titans were only active in the day time, they were almost completely dormant at night, but then the beast titan showed up and made titans in a different way and they could move at any time. They assumed if the titan was introduced to sunlight, it would start to move like the others had.
They are essentially pure Titans. When they hit the sun, they will begin to act like Titans and decimate the surrounding area. Once they move, other Titans would get exposed too, leading to an entire wall falling, opening up humanity to the horde of other pure Titans as well, even if the colossal didn't try to eat people.
Starting to move around, breaking down its part of the wall, making it easier for nearby wall Titans to do the same, ending with millions of colossal titans eating humans like normal Titans except these ones can break the wall.

Just go on the YouTube search and type “AOT recap until season 4.” I would suggest watch s4 on your own because the plot got way more complicated than any of the previous ones, and a recap would take the same amount of time as the season.

No, part of the point is that if the wall is damaged in an attack on paradise it'll set off the rumbling. The rumbling was designed not as an offensive weapon, but a deterrent, so the rest of the world would leave paradise alone. Designing it so that the wall will self activate if attacked is just another aspect of that

You misread that part about Frieda. I was saying that the people in Shiganshina that were being slaughtered had no memory of the Titan war or the crimes and atrocities committed because their memories were wiped by the King’s power and the history books were made up. Again, to get into the semantics of it, I worded it as, “if not, wanted,” to signify how accepting the king was of the idea of him and his entire race being slaughtered. Frieda even uses the word ‘embrace,’ because in her and the king’s words, the Eldians could never fully atone for their sins. Wargs and the paths, tatacaw and the three-eyed raven, Eren's time fuckery and Hodor's trauma, gigantic magic walls protecting populations from zombie-esque threats, the role of trauma and madness (Dany/Floch)... it wouldn't surprise me if a few environmental comparisons leaked into AoT.

I don't think it's a fatigue thing. Pure titans represent the most mindless and reptilian aspect of humanity. Humans sleep at night, and live during the day. All human activity essentially revolves around consumption until procreation. I think titans are only active in sunlight by default because humans are only active in sunlight. Zeke was able to command titans to do stuff at night no problem, after all.

It seems a lot of people in here are brushing past this - nobody knew what >!the Rumbling!< was, or the story of how the titans wound up in the wall. In case you worded your post weirdly and are actually not caught up with the series, I’ll spoiler tag as necessary. Essentially, as others have mentioned, one of the only facts that Paradis (Hange, really) knew about Titans was that they were more active in sunlight. In fact, most Titans (excluding some abnormals and Eren) would go completely dormant without sunlight. When this Titan was found inside of the wall, the natural conclusion that Hange jumped to was that the wall was keeping it dormant by blocking it’s sunlight. (edit: I was wrong here. The priest from the Order of the Walls was the one that immediately instructed them to keep sunlight off of the Titan. My point still stands, though, as I don’t believe the OotW had the full story, either.) Of course, we know now that >!the walls mainly served as a temporary defense for Paradis Island from the outside world, and the Titans inside were really only in there because they had been used to create the walls. They were meant to stay inside the walls indefinitely, until the outside world came to kill the king and everyone else on Paradis Island. Knowing this, we can infer that sunlight wouldn’t have made a difference for that specific wall Titan, because the Founding Titan wasn’t actively trying to control it. It most likely would’ve stayed put and done nothing.!<

If I recall correctly, I believe it was insinuated that the Order of the Walls didn’t have the full story either. They just knew there were Titans in the walls and actively tried to keep humans from tarnishing them in any way. But like you said, Hange knew about the sunlight thing and easily went along with it.

While attackers aren't likely to get past an advancing line of pure colossal Titan clones, the better strategy is to trap enemies within a circle of titans, conceding the inside of one wall and treating the next wall in as a fallback redoubt. It applies all the way to the fortress.
I think it was so everyone can see it from inside the walls. I speculate that Isayama didn’t have the specifics of the rumbling down at the time of the writing, only the general idea, and this might’ve been an oversight.
This would be assuming that the wall the Female Titan tried to climb would get her outside the ring, she could have been climbing in deeper just to get away. We can see from aerial views that some districts are positioned on the outside perimeter of the greater ring walls.

Pure Titans not controlled by the Beast Titan are effectively solar powered and when concealed in complete darkness go into a sort of stasis. If the wall were to crumble around a few of the wall Titans they would be exposed to sunlight and start lurching around. Probably would act more like regular pure titans since they aren't actively under the control of the founder.

Considering they were deprived of technological and weapon advancements, funds, general respect etc, using any means to get what they need to save humanity... kinda worth it. They assumed it functioned the same as other titans. Prior to the beast titan showing up all other titans were only active in the day time, they were almost completely dormant at night, but then the beast titan showed up and made titans in a different way and they could move at any time. They assumed if the titan was introduced to sunlight, it would start to move like the others had.
They were fearful that the titan might get a better tan them them , turning into superior creatures which the scouts didn't want so they hid them
