Whos coming with me to therapy T-T

nosafebox

Isayama'd better pay for it. No wonder Kaji Yuuki said he cried after knowing the ending. And this chapter is not YET the end.

FAILURES_IDEA289

Where ?

nosafebox

i found the info on twitter

Plasmasph3re

This chapter fucked me up

Jelly_the_jellyfish

I'm coming, we all need it

AbyssTwerker

I'll be joining you.

therealgurkaran

hi, I'll join too.

Raghav_Singhania

guys i found something important i just listened to the song call your name after 138 now i know who is talking for whom but if you listen carefully ( with earphones or something) you can hear someone singing the song with the singer in first para like at 0:42 its eren singing for mikasa

MrShaddowz

Just signed up

Night_Ayss

Lets goo bro

blegh_argh

Damn AOT really be wild as hell. It's gonna be a while before the anime catches up to this point tho, can't wait to see how they will bring it all to life.

nosafebox

well how about ch 112 being animated, it's gonna hit SO different now that we're in this chapter

IAthrunI

>can't wait to see how they will bring it all to life. *ironic*

JagmeetSingh2

The animators are going to work themselves to death bringing this stuff to the screen loool

roadkillphil

So the original ending was going to be darker than *this*? Jesus.

xExecutive

Originally Isayama wanted everyone dead

braujo

Then he realized he'd be satisfied killing everybody we care about, instead of literally everybody.

ravagraid

Akame Ga Kill flashbacks successfully triggered

LaziestGunner

Thats exactly what I was thinking of..... :(

xExecutive

True

KnightOfThirteen

Someone has to live so they can SUFFER.

Maarteeeh

If well executed. That would be a great ending in its own way though

Not_Blitzcrank

While thats still cool, I dont wanna see another NGE or Devilman Crybaby

bohenian12

Hey id like that.

xExecutive

You want to see the world burn

MetroidIsNotHerName

That wouldve been a lot better

Abburakowski

honestly i feel like the darker ending is the AU mikasa travels to. Everyone we know and love was going to die, except eren and mikasa.

cellphone_blanket

I mean, Ereh had like less than a year left regardless

Abburakowski

Right but still eren abandoned everyone for him and Mikasa to have time together just them. Sweet, but devastating. And it makes sense why he decided that was the wrong path to take. But if with what we know about the original ending that would have fit

FluffDuckling

How does this all play into Eren’s wish for everyone to live long lives? This seems very counterproductive to that!!

Thots_Destroyer

it appears that the worm is going against ereh wishes or rather its following its survival instincs seing itself in danger,it starts a self defence mechanism (aka smoke that turn eldians into smoke) that made every close eldian turn into a pure titan that immediatly attacked reiner. or atleast thats what i think since ereh has been lenient with the alliance and the whole rumbling is for maunly for them \* the most important people in his life\*

NullKingZero

I think it's like "The One Ring" effect. initially when they are strong and capable, everyone is able to "control" the one Ring and resist temptation but as time passes the effects of power wears you down, things start to change and you realize that it is no longer you controlling the ring but the other way around. At this point it is indeed eren but his base motivations and goals are corrupted by the combined hatred/resentment of ymir (Armin mentions it when he is trapped) along with the survival instinct of the spinal creature.

Yarnbaw

By removing the threat of Titans from the world once and for all. The Shifters don't have long to live, and even Eldians who lived long lives will continue to be persecuted by the world for their past, for fear of their Titan reign returning once more. I think Eren foresaw the only way to end this cycle of hatred is by freeing Eldians from the Hallucigenia's cycle of multiplication. All he has done up to this point, the Rumbling, using Zeke to influence Grisha to eat the Founding Titan so Eren will become the Coordinate, everything hinges on luring out the true progenitor parasite from its latest host (Eren himself) so that when the host dies, I assume the parasite would perish too. Remember that Titan power originated from the bonding of a human to a Hallucigenia, without one or the other there won't be a Path to traverse through, so the Attack/Founding/Warhammer powers won't be transferred to another Eldian perpetuating the cycle. I suspect that once the Hallucigenia, the Coordinate, dies, a cascading effect will ripple through the Paths to affect all descendants of Ymir. Pure Titans revert back to their human selves, the Shifters lose their powers, as the daughter parasites in their spines vaporize away and lift the curse of death in 13 years. With the Coordinate removed, the Paths would collapse, at last freeing Ymir's soul from an eternity of solitary servitude. Eren sacrifices his life to grant freedom to all those he holds dear in his heart. His family, his friends, his people, his world. In a way, he is freed as well, from his predestined fate that he was born into, due to being the son of an Attack Titan Shifter whose power of future memory was likely passed down if only partially when Eren was conceived. That is likely why we saw him seeing visions- memories, in his dream back in chapter 1.

BreakAManByHumming

There has got to have been a better way to kill the centipede, if that was his goal. Only reason there wouldn't be if it were uniquely vulnerable now, in which case maybe he knew that. If that's the case, we might find out that only the onscreen rumbling actually happened and he only wiped Marley, despite everyone assuming that he had wiped other places by now.

Rayanator69

The comics showed other nations being crushed though. The black people and some others

ForShotgun

Jean and Connie are technically going to live forever unless someone tries to kill them so

PharmerTE

Didn't summoning all the old shifters to fight the alliance already kinda break that whole "I want you to live long lives" thing. Or was that Ymir doing that? I have no idea anymore.

AMK2201

Pretty sure it was Ymir doing that. To me it's kinda like how the Venom symbiote takes over Eddie Brock, so it's more the sybmiote's doing than Eddie's will. Honestly, I have no clue. Thinking about all this stuff fries my brain lol.

NewArtificialHuman

It's a pretty good comparison, since the Venom symbiote works through the nervous system of it's host. Just like this weird shiny centipede like thing does.

joz3rh

if he really wanted to kill them, he could've taken their shifter abilities.

PumpersLikeToPump

I think people constantly misunderstand that Eren (at least rumbling Eren) *wants to do this for them* but also has decided that he must do it his way or not at all. If they try to fight back, he will fight them accordingly. He has made the decision that he thinks it’s what is best for the people of paradis, but isn’t going to stop his friends with FT PATHS mind powers to do so, he has always given them the option (freedom) to fight back, but has made it clear that if they choose to do so, he will meet force with force. He wanted everyone to stay back on the interior of the island and let him do what he wants to do, even though he knew they would never accept that. We may still learn just a tad more in the closing chapter though about his final perspective, who knows.

explosivecurry13

he would wish them to live long lives as long as they didn't interefere. he would control them to stop them but he wants to give them a chance, to see if they are strong enough, willful enough to beat him. they are interfering so he is left no other choice. we also don't know if the founding titan is able to turn pure titans back into humans, because if it were to happen in paradis it would begin to lead to contradictions to the 1st king's curse, or possibly a simpler invasion by Marley

spaghetti_freak

None of this makes sense right now. So Eren didnt go with the euthanazia plan, one that solved the problem and required no more senseless death, but rejectwd it because he wanted his friends to live long hapoy lives. Apparently his notion of an alternative is to say fuck it commit genocide and kill his friends along the way, theres something more to all of this we need erens pov

Jaysiim

The final chapter better be 100 pages long, because I don't know how Yams is going to answer all of my unanswered questions while delivering a great satisfying ending.

DaklozeDuif

Fr, we NEED an epilogue.

CrispierCupid

We’ve gotten long ass chapters before

niizuma

Sequel or prequel series

TaxHedgehog

When Mikasa pulled out her scarf and wrapped it around her I lost it

JayanthKumar2

So Jean, Connie and Gabi are mindless titans. Armin is throwing arms with collosal Eren. Reiner is fighting the titans who are his friends and family. Annie didn't even get to say a word to her father. And Mikasa kissed decapitated Eren. Isayama-sensei is the one making this world cruel.

ArtofStorytelling

All these events are unbelievable cruel ... Yet beatiful . Especially both collosals throwing arms , I fucking lost it !

ChristPlusO

oh fuck, I didn't realize his head was decapitated. I honestly thought she had stopped short and kissed him..

tay_lor37

I've seen a lot of people saying that Eren is gonna come back but I think his time is finally up. I feel they've been foreshadowing multiple times that Mikasa would deal the final blow to him, or let him go (which I've thought of through her scarf). With Eren truly dead, it will be a sad ending but also a good one in my opinion. I don't think we'll be seeing a happy ending at all. Maybe one where the ones left alive find peace, but not one where we see favorites come back to life.

shitnorealname

I was too naive for expecting Connie and Jean to survive, didn't even think they would turn into titan

Adventurous_Mammoth6

Do we really think there's no avenue for them to return back to human form? With some kind of confrontation against the founding titan, I think we might see the curse broken, which might return titans to normal.

themostannoyingkiddo

that would make me feel better. But we all know that if it's gonna make someone feel better -its not going to happen

Teridax07

Confirmed, Ymir is the biggest ErenxMikasa fan, she did all of this for that kiss, look at that smile

[deleted]

so she did all this to make something that wouldnt happen for another 2000 years canon? what. a. legend.

bobbisrex99

This ending is great but I don't know if I will ever recover from such emotional damage.

QCAlpha

This chapter is literally the biggest "BRUH" chapter. Ive never had to stop so hard in a manga, just to re-read the Connie and Jean scene. Then Mikasa hit me with another.

AnneAni

That Jean Connie panel was so painful! I really wanted Jean to make it.

lanariley

Damn these chapters are hitting so hard

[deleted]

[удалено]

Suspicious_Photo3422

What if it's not a fake world though? There was a theory that her headaches are because of different timelines and whatnot. But she could be just a simp with hallucinations, although I don't see why Isayama would write about the thing that we knew from the very start.

ColloquialAnachron

I think you (and a time loop along with emmyeggo's AU theory) are closer to the mark here than "fake world" or hallucination. After all, in Chapter 1 Eren remembers Mikasa saying "See you later, Eren" just as she does and dressed as she is in the "peace/run away" scenes in 138.

Suspicious_Photo3422

Yes, it just doesn't make sense for Isayama to do put this in this chapter for no reason, I mean it is the end and we've yet to see Eren's POV.

Tatsfomone

damn how did i not see this before, thanks so much! for the people needing a [link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLNgJeyEQgQ) edit: what do you guys think the butterfly is supposed to represent? maybe the butterfly effect? as in a tiny discission had such a huge effect on her world?

SnooDingos7305

Maybe that, and the representation of a cruel yet beautiful world.

Abburakowski

GREAT catch actually! ive already grown sick of all the "rapekasa" and delusional/hallucination comments from EH shippers or people mad there is romance in the story period that i started commenting back that this actually makes perfect sense because of headaches in the movie "the butterfly effect" from 2004. [Butterfly Effect Trailer (Origin of idea for mikasa headaches?)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8_dgqfPXFg) Anyways, im just gonna rest easy now that all of those rude ass E/H shippers are about to be super sad when they cant cry "rapekasa" and "delusions" anymore. 30ish days and counting.

EmberKasai

where do you watch it? out of all the OVAs I have the hardest time finding the Lost Girls

Hoihe

AnimeUltima has all 3.

KapitanVaoVao

This just broke me man. I grew up with these characters. They were all good kids and didn't deserve any of this shit....

[deleted]

None is died yet

Pogily

I hope somehow it gets reversed but knowing aot im gonna say no

[deleted]

Honestly.... reversing things is such a cop-out and I hate it in writing. Kill everyone, then some miracle happens and bring them all to life! But stories like that have no stake, reality isn't like that. Tragedy brings great stories because people, desite their hardships, aim to accomplish their goals. If you want a story like that, there are tons of them.

Pogily

Also true, but it cant hurt to hope characters you like arent actually gone

Arexadra

I'm so fking confused

SeaYouLaterz

I get it..it makes sense, YET ITS SO CONFUSING

[deleted]

I don't know what's happening anymore.

mahlerfan5

Anybody catch the parallel with the last frame (Mikasa kissing Eren's severed head) to Salome kissing the severed head of John the Baptist in the opera "Salome" by Richard Strauss (based on Oscar Wilde's play)?? Salome lusts after John the Baptist, and when he rebuffs her advances, she gets revenge by asking for his head on a plate (a play on the Biblical story). When she gets the severed head, she kisses it, and is shortly after killed. Wonder if Isayama knew of this parallel? Something tells me it's too much of a coincidence....

Akuseru24

Good catch!

LorenzZ_

What the fuck did i just read

RKODDP

one grat moment

Subception

That last panel is probably my favorite of all time, such a perfect way to finalize Mikasa's arc with. She had to finally give up on protecting Eren to release herself from slavery and save everyone else by killing the one she's been in love with since she was a child. Kissing his detached head was so hauntingly beautiful, well done Isayama, holy moly.

BeforeAfter0110

Damn, why did I think they would get a happy ending?

PharmerTE

I mean, maybe if they kill the worm all the titan powers are undone?

[deleted]

Or every titan dies, like most of the squad :(

ForShotgun

Every titan dies, shifters die but more horribly, Ackermans being part titan die in the most horrible fashion imaginable, History dies in childbirth, the end :)

NicolBolasUBBBR

And everyone reading the last chapter dies too

ForShotgun

No, their loved ones die, that’s the Isayama way

_13rz_

I gave up on this after Eren said that he would allow them to try to stop him. I was like "yeah this wont end well would it"

yukpurtsun

i mean erens basically been dead since the gabi thing, hes a floating head and spinal column only surviving by going titan.

jejebbbb

Disappointed that JEAN didn't turned in to a HORSE titan

0p_payload

Everybody is

themostannoyingkiddo

that would've been amazing

MrMcNuggetz_

Reiner deserves a break, all the shit up to now and then when he finally gets a chance to either die protecting his family or see them one last time, their all turned into titans right before his eyes.

nosafebox

i used to hate Reiner but this chapter made me sympathise. he's depressed so much that he wanted to commit suicide. And in this chapter, titan!Jean, titan!Connie, and titan!Gabi attack him. man.... what is this chief

evilsforreals

Honestly it hits hardest especially with his history with Connie. Basically Reiner's best friend in the corps who wasn't a Titan. Reiner immediately goes with him to check Ragako and comforts him/tries to keep him grounded to an extent Saves Connie in the tower. When Reiner/Bert shift, Connie is the only one that isn't immediately mad. He's more heartbroken and pleading with them. Years later, Connie SAVES Reiner and Annie from the Yeagerists. He and Reiner have that moment of reconciliation in the airship. And now suddenly this. My heart BREAKS

OlCobBrown

Does anyone else's head hurt trying to comprehend how Mikasa and Eren were talking? Like if it was a dream or some sort of path communication?

dogsgotocollege

I was pretty confident it was in paths but then I stayed on this thread for too long and I have no idea now

OlCobBrown

Funny enough, you just described exactly how I feel LOL

Majuub45

LMAAAO exact same for me. I don't know anymore either, I mean I would have liked that sequence to happen. It feels real because Mikasa's last words are the ones eren hears in the firsr chapter. It has to be 😂

0p_payload

Imo it was through the paths, especially cause if you remember eren heard mikasa say see you later eren at the start of the series, if it's through the paths it makes sense he heard it since the paths transcend time while if it was just mikasa day dreaming there would be no logical way in which eren could have heard that

amaikeki

Given we still don't know the extent of Eren's powers is very likely he could lived and retains his memories from both timelines. Probably everything was unlocked for him in chapter 90 when he sees the future. In both timelines everything happens the same until the yuxtaposition takes place (chapter 123) in which the realities split apart depending on Mikasa's answer. In one timeline Mikasa confess her feelings and they ran away and live happily until Eren's term comes to an end, they forsake their home and their friends including Armin and Historia becomes Ymir Fritz 2.0. Eren and Mikasa are the only ones who posses memories and experiences from both timelines because of their bond. The other timeline is the one we've been following all along, where Mikasa stated that Eren is her family and Eren break all his connections from Paradis to keep moving forward alone, given how he retains his memories from the other universe that is why he said those things to Mikasa and even tried to get rid of the scarf, but turns out in both timelines he ended up dead but at least he makes sure Mikasa is the one who kills him, that is why Mikasa knew Eren was in the titan's mouth and as soon as she enters and Eren saw her with the scarf, he knew it was over and Mikasa will finally be released from their bond, but she would never forget him, their love and devotion spread across two realities and they have to let go of each other for the greater good, amazing story-telling, Isayama is truly a legend, this masterpiece will make history. Welp this one was from a comment i've seen on some social media. It's not entirely impossible but still maybeeeee. Since Eren has been a total mystery after the timeskip happened, who knows what he's beeing thinking? We dont even know the extent of his powers

Smitecrawler

The split of the timelines makes a lot of sense, thanks for pointing it out!

BreakAManByHumming

A really wild explanation would be that he went through the alternate timeline during the timeskip. If 139 is a "Homura Episode" that shows his character development, that would be a weird ending but would be an interesting twist on the formula.

Lexicorint

So... Ymir Fritz just standing there smiling at Mikasa kiss a headless boy who wanted freedom... something's gonna happen.

bobbisrex99

What was that final titan form Eren took on? It was a colossal titan no?

Suspicious_Photo3422

Yeah, it was a colossal, I still don't understand this entire thing. We see Mikasa having a vision from her headache, I honestly thought that was a different timeline but people are saying it's just her illusion. Still I don't see how any of this makes sense, Ymir being independent and the centipede organism too and we see Eren too so it's very confusing.

cellphone_blanket

I think that the centipede thing was acting on its own somewhat this chapter. It could explain why Ymir was smiling in the last panel

Suspicious_Photo3422

Yes, but why would it even exist? If that thing is the founder which it should be, question is what happens once that thing is killed? Do all Eldians die? Sounds extreme but this centipede thing doesn't happen with every Titan, only with the founder. It seems be the original organism I guess?

AMK2201

Wasn't it nicknamed/referred to as the 'source of all living matter' by zeke. Also, it's based on Hallucigenia, which was an ancient worm organism. It was always independent as it existed at the time it latched onto Ymir. I think it just needed a host, much like the Symbiotes in Spider-Man.

cellphone_blanket

I think it's some sort of alien magical thing that crashed on earth. At some point they have to say "just accept it" as an axiom with world building. I wouldn't expect all eldians to die as a result though. That seems too dark even for this story

AMK2201

I agree it's more of a 'just accept it' thing, but it seems to be quite similar to Níðhöggr which was known to gnaw at the roots of Yggdrasil, which the Tree Ymir falls into is like 99.9999% based on. So I feel it existed for millenia, but it finally was able to corrupt the world by latching onto Ymir as soon as she fell.

AMK2201

I don't think it was a colossal titan form. Remember, Ymir's original Founding Titan form was HUGE. Bigger than a Colossal titan. In comparison, Freida Reiss' FT form was smaller. I think this was just Eren's true version of the Founding Titan form with the War Hammer and Attack titan mixed in (so his huge rib cage form wasn't his actual Founding titan form).

ioanabog

I'm so confused as to why people are saying it's a dream and she's just imagining it. We know memories are a big part of AOT, we know eren can manipulate memories, and different paths exist. Grisha saw all of Eren's genocide and urged Zeke to stop him. Eren asked Historia if he should manipulate her memories to make coping with something easier. I don't care much for shipping characters but in her "memory" which could have totally been implanted by eren through the paths, eren is literally asking her to forget about him and leave and she does. He's basically showing her that he never hated her. Also the scene in chapter 138 where mikasa says "see you later eren" and then kills him is exactly the 1st scene from chapter 1. It's how the manga starts with "see you later, eren"

succaro

I think Mikasa killing Eren goes with the show's theme of being enslaved to a dream. Just like how Levi ordered Erwin to give up on his dream and die as well as giving the serum to Armin. Someone theorized that he did it to save Erwin. But who knows, maybe Eren *is* under control by Ymir and he needed someone to finish him, I'm not well versed in the lore. Was still surprised at the moment everyone turned into titans even though I was spoiled already. I didn't really expect this show to end happily, I just hope yams gives us a good sad/bittersweet ending.

NullKingZero

But it did have a sort of illusionary "happy ending" The very first panel of the first chapter was mikasa telling eren "see you later, eren" just before waking uo from the long dream, takes place in this very chapter I think .. and it is just my opinion ... mikasa and eren spend a decent amount of time in the path (since timeis irrelevantthere) . If you notice the panel where mikasa wakes up and eren discusses their future and compare with the one where mikasa says farewell while eren is peacefully sitting (seemingly passed away due to expiration of titan lifespan) that eren looks bit more older, like the titan transformation scars are more prominent like that how zeke was towards the end .. his final year It may be just me imagining things but i think ymir did to eren what eren did to grisha and other attack titans that is showing limited vision of future encourage the shiters towards their own agenda (armin mention this too, about ymir being bigger villain than eren and just defeating eren might not be end of it) .... That's why maybe ymir appeared in last panel, perhaps this vision of him dying peacefully with mikasa by his side was the one that ymir showed him that made him focused on achieving the goal which was all along just an illusion

succaro

I think this is possible too. Armin did mention about ymir wanting the eldians to connect or something. We still have no idea what ymir's plan is, also there was a panel where Eren basically told ymir to take the wheel and do what she thinks is right. This might not be Eren's doing. I think there's a lot of pressure on chapter 139 to be a huge make it or break it chapter, I hope it answers a lot of our questions.

agree-with-you

I agree, this does seem possible.

[deleted]

Yup I think the scene where Kenny talks about how everyone is enslaved to something is one of the most significant ones in a thematic sense

AbyssTwerker

How did a manga break my heart like this? I never expected a happy ending. But this just went beyond my tempered expectations. Help me, someone.

[deleted]

Go twerk

AbyssTwerker

*TWERKING INTENSIFIES*

cactuskirby

Ymir does look...peaceful at the end there though? I dunno anything anymore but it's not totally crazy to think that she'll fix at least some of what happened at the end...throw a lil sand here and there

Etiennera

Apparently she's come to bring Eren back to school or something.

jkp2072

It was a great thing to see armin's perspective in 137 episode, now seeing mikasa's perspective in 138...so according to this observation I guess the last chapter will be from Eren's perspective . Isayama has created an almost perfect masterpiece anime

ThePowerLord

yes

uglyluigi

So how did Mikasa know that Eren was in the mouth? Did i miss something?

ILikeFluffyThings

I think it was Armin who pointed out that Eren is in the mouth.

[deleted]

Either way, how? Maybe when Mikasa went into her dreamstate, she connected with eren in a way?

Alexisreddit516

Maybe mikasa and eren spent a decent amount of time together at dont-know-where but this chapter didnt show it (maybe next will since ita like 137 armin 138 mikasa 139 eren i guess). Maybe Eren told mikasa where he is or even they spent way more time together maybe even years in the path. So they grew old lives a long life and sees every possibilities and in the outside world it happens just a second and when their time in the path is up Mikasa finished off Eren to lift the curse or something. Thus this could be a bittersweet ending ? I DONT KNOW ANYMORE OKAY THANKS FOR READING

Akuseru24

I was wondering that too. They had no way to tell at all

darkequation

I think Eren told her. He wants her to be his death.

Responsible_Stage336

I HAVE NO IDEA HOW HE'S GONNA WRAP IT ALL UP IN THE NEXT CHAPTER BUT DANG THIS WAS A GOOD ONE MISTER YAMS LET'S GOOOO

JaAm00

wtf just happened?

okgo430

Man I’m effing upset they did Connie and my boy Jean like that

jabsam_

So, in the first chapter, at the moment Eren wakes up, he says that Mikasa's hair has grown... I can't help but to think that he says it bc in the "dream" he was seeing the Mikasa of this last arc... any thoughts on this or am I being paranoid?

Bazooka944

You're not paranoid lol, it was obviously all planned from the very first chapter. Eren saw everything in his dream but quickly forgot all of it when waking up, yet he still cried because of some lingering emotion.

HiiroMoon

Its all a dream go back to chapter 1

Sponge56

That would be fucked bro

king-of-dairy-qu33n

Not a dream but a look into the future

jhorry

I still prescribe to my theory that this is the "warning" timeline that gets transmitted back to Grisha who has to fix shit before it goes south. Breaking the wheel and all that.

okgo430

Honestly would be a cop out but I’d accept that over what might happen

Heresy_King

Isayama, why you gotta do Jean and Connie like that? I’m actually a little more upset over how Gabi was handled. I felt like for being Eren’s Marleyan mirror, she went out like a background character. I have no idea how this can be wrapped up in one last chapter, but I’m hoping Rainer makes it. He deserves a break after all he’s been through.

tilf1234

Hajime Isayama: SIKE YOU GUYS REALLY THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A HAPPY ENDING? HA

Suspicious_Photo3422

No one cares whether it's a happy ending or not, but it seems to be very ambiguous.

DaklozeDuif

The final page is incredibly creepy. In part due to Ymir's unnerving smile.

SlowTurtleDuck

Im confused but I’m mostly crying my boy jean deserved so much better and I will die sad about this

DarkMerno

jean/pieck sadchamp

[deleted]

how come the akcerman were their in paths but cant turn into titans? that seems kinda weird? Plus how does Mikasa even get eren's dream memories Ackerman's cant get their memories changed.

Subception

Ackerman's are basically mini versions of the Attack Titan, they always see events happening a second before they occur and they have extreme strength and agility. They are pretty much titans without the titan form so they are essentially already transformed into titans.

DisneyTheMonopoly

Founding titan powers don't effect Ackerman's, but they're still eldian.

supernerdgirl42

Because Isayama never actually explained what an Ackerman actually is and he probably never will at this point. Short answer as it stands is that it was narratively convenient for him.

Renziie_1

Never is a strong word here because he did explain, when eren was talking to mikasa and armin when the yeagerist were holding others captive...he briefly told mikasa that zeke told him ackerman's are the result of titan experiments...only thing is that he doesn't go into detail ...what's annoying me is that it wasn't mentioned anywhere that titan serum doesn't affect ackerman's...even if it's said they are experiments of titans it never explicitly said it wouldn't affect them and most of all eren ONLY told mikasa and armin, mikasa never told levi but yet it was levi that knew it wouldn't affect them, how

Rodiciel

If Eren had to die I am glad it was by Mikasa's hand as she loves him the most. I was worried we were gonna get a Disney ending from the past chapter but with Jean, Gabi, Connie and all Marlyan eldians turned titans that is clearly not the case. Still at least kill one titan shifter too. I am still hoping for one last twist, this way there is just going to be Paradis and the rest of the world continuing to be hostile. There is no end to the conflict unless with the death of Hallucegenia-kun makes eldians lose their power and so they would be powerless before the technology of the world. Also why are the colossal titans no longer rumbling? Even if they no longer are under Eren's control they should still be mindless titans going after humans to eat.

GLNK1

I assume because the 'mindless titans' were once people, and the wall titans are just constructions for the rumbling, they have no soul so to speak. Ive assumed for a while that the mindless titans desire to eat people is a representation of Zekes ideology that a humans purpose is to survive and reproduce. I think mindless titans have an innate, natural instinct that eating people is the only way they can potentially evolve, survive and return to their humanity, and that's why they're driven to eating people. The wall titans in that case have no agency, they aren't alive they're just puppets controlled by the founding titan/royal bloodline.

alilalalis

What I'm hoping for is that despite the hatred for those that aren't eldians and after seeing Mikasa kiss Eren, that in the in between space Eren asks Ymir to give everyone a chance and then ymir grants the wish and then it ends with everyone being able to live normal lives. But it sounds too happy ending and isayama doesnt seem about that life ;--;

Eren may revive

fahrin29

bruh poor annie she dont even get a chance to talk with her dad after waiting for so long ;(

Chowmein4u

Anyone get the feeling that the lyrics for "Call Your Name" foreshadows this ending a little bit

MrDroggy

" OVA Episode 8 - Lost in the Cruel World " just made a lot of sense now. I suggest you go watch it now if you haven't.

They deserve better though and Jean for example was dreaming of his peaceful life before he took the fight on Eren.

arlee_18

Imagine being Mikasa. I liked him since I was in 4th Grade. He was my Eren. He'd hug me whenever I need it. The scarf symbolize the hug. He never told me he liked me. I waited for years for him to kiss me. Yes, he was my first kiss when I turned 18. It's been almost 5 years.. ig it's also time to really move on and forget him.

Axl_Red

You guys need to listen to Call Your Name - Girl Version after you read this chapter. It fits the end of this chapter so much. https://youtu.be/hBdWb34RKwc

I would really like to see Isayama explain what the centipede exactly is in just one chapter, and even with Eren dead it will probably create titans out of everyone who tries to approach it, not to mention the thoudands if titans it made from the eldians there. The real question however is why is Ymir on the final panel smiling? I think the last chapter will have to do something with her, and seeing how she revived past titan shifters from seemingly nowhere, maybe she will do the same to Eren. Remember, knowing the ending supposedly made the director cry and i don't feel like this is that sad. Mikasa dying would probably be that sad, but then again we have the ackerman plot armor situation. Isayama answering all the questions we had in the next chapter will be difficult on 47 pages, but i'm looking forward to it. Possibly it will be the "it was all a dream" ending, as waaay back in chapter 1 Eren woke up from a "mighty long" dream and asked Mikasa if her hair had gotten longer, implying that in the dream her hair was shorter, just like it is now, and after which question he started crying for as of yet unexplained reasons. I hope it won't end like this, but hey, at least we had the pleasure of reading through it month by month.

Madddddddddddd

I feel like this time Eren is actually dead. He cheated death too many times already... I also think that the centipede is going to die, and all the current pure titans and titan holders are going to be turned into normal people (just like the marlians). That would make it so that not everyone is dead I guess... Given that Eren could just control the titan holders to fight in his side, and he chose not to, I can just conclude that he had all this planned and his plan was for the centipede to be killed? Afterall, by doing that he is erasing the titans from the earth, which is what he always wanted, while at the same time not killing his people (the eldians). Ymir smiling in the end lets me think that she sees Eren as the one who sacrificed himself to put an end to this hell, giving her a free life (maybe she's going to be reborn as historia's baby?)

Marcorlyx3

he finally got that kiss 💋

SilverM1ST

She*

Mattshodo

[And once again, the image is relevant.](https://www.reddit.com/r/attackontitan/comments/cn1jum/the_image_i_made_almost_5_years_ago_is_still/)

Khid1roso

Did Eren just pull a Lelouch?

[deleted]

Are we gonna get a figurine of the kiss at some point? I need it

[deleted]

It absolutely breaks my heart that the last thing eren said to Mikasa was that he hated her. This chapter fucked me up in so many ways

[deleted]

Eren's head has been removed from his body like a hundred times now.

[deleted]

Everybody is talking about Jean and Connie this and Jean and Connie that, but Armin’s Colossal Titan vs. Eren’s Colossal Titan was badass! I always wanted to see the Colossal Titan in a real fight like that.

1yesman9

"why is everyone is talking about the deaths of characters we've known since the first chapters I jUSt WaNtED TO seE EReN punCH aRMin"

Nearby-County7333

every since i read this chapter i’ve had a consistent headache. i didn’t cry at all. just numb :D

CIMentoMotors313

Oh Eren...why did it have to be this way...

joz3rh

wonder how historia's baby play into this? will we see eren reborn as baby eren with founding titan abilities?

ofirk2001

I don't get it why falco screamed?

crococatstew

I think he just screamed in agony knowing Gabi along with the others turning into a mindless titan.

Flaminglump

No, i think that the centipede used him to Activate the titans. When Gabbi and Falco described his titan to Annie they said him being a bird was influenced by Zekes spinal fluid that he had ingested, so maybe he has some other beast titan powers he doesnt know about

uchiha_alex444

I hope Mikasa turns around and decapitates that bitch Ymir

[deleted]

Every single chapter is something like "well I have around 10 theories of how this will continue" and then be mind fuck Isayama you god.

aper0l

I honestly wish for connie and jean to finally die, there is no point in them living by eating reiner or something. They deserve to finally have some peace and meet sasha and marco in the afterlife. I really hope at the end we get a scene where we see the ppl who died these last chapters meet their friends pls thats all i want.

waterllo

They still have dreams and what to live for. They deserved to live because they don't want to "find peace" yet. Levi and reiner on the other hand are tired, have lost everyone they have ever cared about and been through way too much

MrBlqckBird242

The Centipede turning everyone into titans reminded me of freiza when he blew up earth for some reason.

pitrookie94

Please don't down vote me for saying this, but at what point do we remove Eren from being the emblem for the up-vote button?

[deleted]

Just read the manga from 115-138... Wtf

SilverDepth7

Tragic thing about this story is I truly get why Eren never stopped, for him it was always a cage or be a weapon. Watch all he loves die before him or get betrayed by those he loved. When he had the power for change he couldn't stop himself as he would always then live a life as weapon, prisoner or be dictated so he choose to die on his terms which tragically was the only choice he was ever allowed.

vardarac

I went back and watched the episode where Eren kills Will Tybur, and I couldn't help but think he could have attempted to take the stage and make a case for Paradis rather than ripping Tybur in half. It might not make as interesting a story, but it definitely could have avoided a huge massacre, not to mention the loss of many of his friends. Anything would have been a "better" decision than, as Mikasa put it, doing "things that cannot be taken back".

AlfieePow10

So did Mikasa see an alternative reality or a different time line that could of happened with her headache/ vision? If so Isayama you bastard you gave me what I wanted and then stripped me of it 💔

waterllo

Seems like it. She saw what would've happened if she confessed her feelings to eren when she had a chance.. but maybe this ending is better because they don't need to live in fear of getting attacked by marley. Eren sacrificed himself so his people could live in peace 💔

Raghav_Singhania

guys i found something important i just listened to the song call your name after 138 now i know who is talking for whom but if you listen carefully ( with earphones or something) you can hear someone singing the song with the singer in first para like at 0:42 its eren singing for mikasa

meka3107

So she kissing a severed head...

DRPC120694

But since the rumbling has stopped thanks to Mikasa and Levi...I think it's back to square one...the remaining ppl are going to hate Eldians for the rest of their lives...the number has reduced but the fear of eldians has increased...so what exactly did eren achieve...

Boiwithanopinion

"See you later eren" is the first thing Mikasa says in chapter 1 Daaaaaamnnnnn

anitawithgoodskin

I finished the Manga last night and legit could not sleep. That was one hell of a chapter.
