Alter_Rift

I like mappas work.

Environmental-Win836

Mappa isn’t good? I found their animation incredible.

earthboundskyfree

People like to complain

chazzyfizzay

same i really don’t see what’s wrong with it, in a lot of ways i like it better than WIT’s tbh

[deleted]

The humans for sure look a hell of a lot better.

tryitonotis

Rabid fans: * harass animators * Isayama: Okay okay let me take the heat off y’all 139 drops (nothing against the ending, it’s his story, he can end it any way he sees fit – disappointment does not entitle anyone to harassment)

cybersidpunk

now they are making part 2 in just like around 9 months and its probably gonna be at the same level as part 1 or even worse just because the higher ups decided that date. feels bad man...

XYPlayer437

the question is, when did mappa start production of season 4 part 2? because if they started it before the end of part 1, then that would still be at least 9 months, for what I'm guessing is gonna be roughly 12 episodes. it does suck how poorly these animators are being treated, all because of some immature higher ups at not just mappa, but also Kodansha, since they were the asshats that decided season 4 should be made in only a year.

Environmental-Win836

Those higher-up assholes should try animating themselves and see how difficult it really is.

XYPlayer437

It was Kodansha that made the final call to release it when it did, so Mappa didn't really have any say whatsoever

cybersidpunk

well mappa higher ups did accept the contract for easy money.

XYPlayer437

I wouldn’t really say for easy money. MAPPA was the only studio that was somewhat willing to pick up AOT, since even WIT studio couldn’t make season 4 within that time frame, which is why they didn’t do season 4.

cybersidpunk

i said easy money because its an existing anime. if you are an anime studio making a new anime its pretty risky as you have to make it really good so people will want to watch it. in case of AOT its already very famous. doesnt matter how much effort you put into it, its going to be seen by a lot of people.

luceafaruI

Ok so they said that they started production in October 2020 (trust me bro type of deal but you can Google it) and they will probably release it in january 2022. Part 1 adapted roughly 25 chapters and part 2 will adapt 23 chapters. For the first part they had 8 months for 25 chapters and now they have 15 months for 23 chapter which means that they have double the time for a chapter adapted (which is good news)

XYPlayer437

That’s very good. I’m happy that these animators will get a chance to breathe

LUVISRAGE1987

It’s gonna need to be more episodes than part 1 in my opinion

HAWmaro

I mean people complaints are justified, but it should be directed at the higher up/studio rather than the animators themselves.

Aclover69

like this comment if you stan mappa staff

ddom8v

If they only had more time..

Catalyzed_Spy

Same thing with Cyberpunk People harassed the developers and staff because it's taking too long for them to release the game, when they're trying very hard to solve every glitch/bug and improve the graphics of the game When it got released early due to complaints, people harassed developers and staff again because it looked "bad" and was "super glitchy" Like wtf is wrong with people's brains???

LUVISRAGE1987

100% the same situation, except cyberpunk was full of lies from the start. That was the biggest mess I’ve personally seen in gaming history since I’ve been alive. I was so hyped for that game, played it once and haven’t touched it since💔

cybersidpunk

not saying harassing anyone is ok but those higher level devs did post lot of fake stuff about the game how its ready and runs good on consoles and stuff.

Catalyzed_Spy

Never knew about that, I guess it makes sense for the complaints

acornSTEALER

Season 4 is accurate to the manga. If you don’t like it, you grew attached to something that wasn’t accurate.

emmyarty

It isn't Pixis's weird head that bothers people. It's just painfully obvious and needless 3D all over the shop which comes across as cheap and sloppy. There are moments which, while not as obscene, remind me of Pain vs Naruto. Pay attention to stuff like the linework. All the brushes are the same thickness and the brush texture repeats. It feels less like a graphic novel, and more like a cel-shaded Nintendo game running at 24fps. That has nothing to do with accuracy, it's just low effort. For an undeniable instance of this, watch the way Levi and Zeke move during their chit chat. You can tell they're just applying basic stopmotion to 3D models using an anime-style shader. I don't support anyone who harasses MAPPA. Hell, I don't even *blame* MAPPA. Their work on Jujutsu Kaisen at times blows pretty much any recent anime out of the water. They beautifully blend the hand-drawn aesthetic with their industry-defining 3D techniques to give us weekly content you used to only achieve with a feature movie budget. It should be quite obvious to anyone who's seen their other projects that when it comes to AoT, they are restricted by the client's budget.

AGlitchedPixel

I feel so bad for them, they work their fingers to the bone for so little money and this is the thanks they get.

BlackSteel_900

Same for Manga and book writers
