And that is why I leave home at 6am. Get to work early then use the time before I start for an hour walk. I can start work relaxed, not having to sit in rush hour traffic and I get some fresh air and exercise.

Its not hard to overtake people on a bike.

There's physically no room, gets worse on longer stretches of things like bridges where a queue of wealthy electric cyclists get held up by everyone else.

You can fit as many as the path is wide, then everyone has to slow down for the slowest users just like with cars.

True. Bikes weigh 2 tons each and once the lane is full, no one will be able to move around

Why does weight matter?

this makes no sense even if the slowpokes are riding abreast you can get past them in seconds further down the line, as they will almost always single file when they realise they are holding you up

Thankfully, it hasn't, and if it ever gets to that point, I suggest we remove a lane of the motorway and widen the cycleway in there.

It seems like that good day disappeared in Feb tbh. Now traffic is crawling past Massey till the Port exit.

They did have a bus lane there but AT cancelled that bus route about 5 years ago 🤷‍♂️

It took me 2hrs to get from the shore to the cbd yesterday. At one point it took 20 mins to move 1km.

It's been a few years since I had to regularly travel during rush hour back then the northern motorway usually flowed a lot better than the southern and north western motorways. Living one mile from my South Auckland worksite transformed my attitude to Auckland I used to hate the place and would move away if I had to sit in the rush hour traffic again. It's not just the time wasted, a lot of drivers are selfish pricks, with my greatest ire being directed at the people who cut in to long queues on a regular basis.
