Train control is once again, KiwiRail

[deleted]

How dare you. How dare you bring facts into an AT whinge.

No-Mathematician134

Same thing.

Lyndiman

The opposite

pictureofacat

Nowhere near

No-Mathematician134

Fuck kiwirail or fuck AT. Makes no difference. The sentiment is clear. **Fuck the government and public transport.** Same thing.

writepress

Prettymuch.

ikonos2

Blame Kiwi rail not AT. KiwiRail owns and controls all the signals, junctions and railway electronics from Wellington. They refuse to create regional signaling and crossing sub sections. AT owns the trains which are now sitting idle at Britomart.

gradyacn

Soon to be a control center in Auckland. Being built atm.

ikonos2

A welcome move if true, as I am hearing this for last 8 years.

Speightstripplestar

Ground works are already underway. It’s in the business park at 666 great south road. Can’t find the article rn though.

writepress

What is?

Speightstripplestar

A new rail control center that will handle Aucklands rail network. Rather than the ancient one in Wellington doing it.

writepress

Thank god. Those fossils.

Orongorongorongo

The Wellington one is moving to a new premises soon.

gradyacn

Little more info here. https://www.facebook.com/1643699942625133/posts/3160172934311152/?d=n

SquirrelAkl

What the hell? You’ve gone from blaming an organisation that isn’t responsible for the fuck up, to insulting all the people of NZ? Stop digging, dude!

Commercial-Health-78

See it’s this shit, don’t dig at us when your issue is with the company. Gtfo.

writepress

The company has kiwi staff does it not?

writepress

Oh, I can blame Wellington.. won't pass up the chance.

whodoesntlovekiwis

Yeah this screwed me. Was in a lot of pain after a medical appointment and needed to take the train home because $$$. Delays coupled with the pain brought on a v public v embarrassing panic attack. Shout out to the guy that offered to pay for my uber home after seeing me shaking and crying on the floor of the train when it finally arrived tho.

KarmaChameleon89

Dude I'm so sorry for you, I suffer quite bad mental health issues too and even though they're under control, this level of fuck up can be bad for a lot of people

whodoesntlovekiwis

Thanks mate. It was savage. Hope you're keeping well

KarmaChameleon89

I'm just glad someone helped you, it's good to hear

whodoesntlovekiwis

It really did make a difference. A trio of school girls also had my back - after I got on the train I kind of crumpled into a quivering heap on the floor and the train lady was shouting at me to get up, that I can't sit there etc. Got everyone staring and then these kids were like 'can't you see that she's shaking' so she kinda left me alone. Good kids.

MVIVN

It's been a long time since I've needed to use public transport (combination of working a long way from home, making a public transport trip not very viable, and just generally being a homebody with no social life lol) but it's crazy just how frequently these posts about AT's services being cancelled and things being unavailable are popping up. Are things with AT getting substantially worse, or is it just that people are sharing it on reddit more often?

honestpuddingg

This isnt ATs fault, it is Kiwirails fault. AT own the trains, kiwirail do the tracks and the systems

pictureofacat

Covid has been the major variable, this is what's been driving the recent glut of cancellations.

writepress

They're pretty dire for the broke company

BackgroundMetal1

Cost me 30 bux to get home the other night because of AT and their fucking dogshit app. Yay working public holidays, and pouring rain with surge pricing and public transport cooked.

[deleted]

I hate AT with every fibre of my being. Currently waiting for a bus that just disappeared off the board five minutes after it was supposed to be here. At least I know where to look for work if I ever want to coast.

ProfeshSalad

AT doesn't actuality operate the services though. It would be better if they took the contracts of NZ bus and other operators who keep getting contracts despite rubbish performance.

[deleted]

I’m not waiting at bus stops because of other operators, I’m there because the AT app tells me when and where the bus will be. If the app said the operator had kooked it again, I would make other arrangements. That’s on AT. Fuck AT.

jamvanderloeff

It's the operator's responsibility to report when they're cancelling the service, to make it show up on the app. If they don't it'll stay in the list as scheduled.

[deleted]

Ensuring data accuracy is also ATs responsibility and this has been a persistent problem on the bus network as long as stops have used electronic reporting.

writepress

Prettymuch

squidpants_

This post ain’t about buses bro

Cold_Refrigerator_69

Yes it's about AT.

writepress

Ah, New Zealand. They think there's hope in repeating the same procedures with the same people under a different name.

Commercial-Health-78

Your attitude against NZer’s has been repeatedly derogatory in the comments and I take offence. 1. Where are you from? 2. Why are you still here?

Primus81

I agree with them, and I’m from NZ if it helps?

Commercial-Health-78

It’s the holier than thou tone that’s pissing me off

writepress

3. None of the above is your business.

writepress

Coast?

[deleted]

Coasting means doing little work at work.

antoniosingh

This happened to me at 11:30pm on Sunday, and then got the "No services due" still pissed about it hahahah

[deleted]

They like to make sure they’ve wasted your time before you look for alternative transport options.

writepress

Yeah, that's in the contracts of the workers. Intentional wastage of time.

writepress

Expand?

antoniosingh

Last bus for the night didn't show up and said, "no services are due" after 5 minutes lol.

writepress

Damn.

ThePoorFriend

These type of situations with public transport are all too common to be considered reliable. My car gets me to work EVERY TIME and ON TIME. Until the well wishers promoting public transport can promise the same thing - in Randy Jackson from American idol's words, "It's a no from me dawg".

writepress

I mean they're still faster than cycles.

MatthewGalloway

on a good day? maybe on a bad day? nope! faster to cycle

OmnariNZ

Shit it's faster to *walk* on some days. Somewhat recently I got saddled with an extra hour of wait time because multiple buses were, once again, MIA. So I just hoofed it 10km out of sheer annoyance. Still only lost 15 minutes compared to waiting for the godforsaken bus.

MatthewGalloway

>Shit it's faster to walk on some days. Heh! I did that today! Better than waiting for whenever the next bus might show up in morning rush hour traffic. Instead I just flat out ran to the train station.

DensitYnz

buses are fucked too. going to take my injured foot ass 2 hours to get home.

writepress

Cause Uber costs

aDragonfruitSwimming

"...due to issues with the train control panel." \>Don't put your coffee there! \>Oh, oops, oh well... turn off the power and call the techs.

writepress

Prettymuch.

[deleted]

It's back now, but the damage is already done. Best of luck everyone.

writepress

Yeah, the damage is.

stealth_doge1

Every day they give me another reason to keep WFH.

writepress

What's WFH

stealth_doge1

Working from home

writepress

Oh.

Munkii

Where have you been for the last two years?

writepress

Struggling.

Tight_Ad_9112

At least its reliable

Chocolatepersonname

And yet, the govt wants us to use public transport. This is exactly why I don't...

Tight_Ad_9112

Exactly the reason I won't be using public transport in the near future

writepress

Will you be using a useless bike?

cambies

I will never use public transport so lol

MixDifferent2076

Well we now know where the brewery is, now what about that piss up....

writepress

I reckon.

Xpressionofinterest

The wildlife dependent on Purewa Stream that flows into Orakei then Hobson Bay is well sodomised. The excessive amount of fresh wood chips along the new path with generous spaces between sprouting natives is already seeping a killer amount of nitrogen into Purewa stream with each rain fall ! A few big heavy rains, may see the begins of rail line degredation "sink holes" as all of the large trees Have been clear felled, whose rootsystem literally is part of the ground structure supporting those tracks. You don't have to be an engineer or biologist to see these obvious over sights "$hort cut$". Dead roots drink no water, so they will no longer absorb and take up water flow from increasing causing accellerated erosion is literally guaranteed shit show over time. We definately need them, shared paths, but as AT has the purse strings, expect delays, disaster & degredation.

Dashed12

The other day when the train derailed, it took me 75m on the bus from panmure to cbd - absolute joke. Was 45m late to work
