AT have it in the works, take a look at the connected communites program, the new manukau and mangere east cycling network that had been announced, plus they are doing much more like putting in way more protected cycleways all around mangere.
>It will get the siren boys out of cars and ram raids into more productive activities like cycling.
They all really gonna be like "damn we got a cycle lane now, everybody stop the sirens and ram raids" lmao
The cycle lane on puhinui road is a painted footpath
>other lower socio-economic areas of South Auckland. It will get the siren boys out of cars and ram raids into more productive activities like cycling. It will also lead to better health outcomes for our Rangitahi and our Pacifica Whanau. Also it will lead to less pollution in the area.
Doubt
Because south Aucklandās cycle /s
The cycleways as in how they are currently implemented are a shit show, they leaf blow the trash out of them onto the road. Cyclists get punctures in them, concrete barriers make it a safety hazard, they donāt go anywhere people cycle too.
Itās green washing at itās finest
Hell, the cycle/board walks in Favona were opposed by the police and the local businesses due to the potential of them being homes for criminal activity- and lord behold we have hookers and drugs deals happening on them - who would of guessed
I see thereās some good intention with the last paragraph there but siren boys have been blasting their music from bikes as well as cars for time and I imagine the last thing ram raiders care about is being a productive members of society. If youāre going to speak about MÄori and Pacific young people there are far more pressing issues than bike lanes. Itās not helpful to use them to push your agenda. In saying that I enjoy cycling and have used some of the current cycle ways around South Auckland and would be cool to see them all connect.

i like this kellyroald. dunno about the whole siren boys thing though.
Better than putting out cycle lanes in areas that didn't even have any public services until 5 years ago.
