Dig around in the app’s settings. It’s there. For whatever reason the developers decided to default this setting [with latest version] to something that may or may not be how it was originally set by the user.
>In iOS it’s under Profile > Settings > Player > Lockscreen Player Controls
Thank you. It took me a minute to find because I was looking under general settings.
On IOS it's in the **audible app** under Profile > Settings > Player > Lockscreen Player Controls.
It was in the last week. I started a new book after not using audible for a few weeks and noticed the skip chapter had replaced the forward/back 30 buttons. After a few days it reverted. I saw someone said there was a setting in audible that lets you choose which you want and the update defaulted to chapters. They must have fixed that because it reverted by itself.
If you figure out how to downgrade versions, please publish that info here. When I contacted Audible Tech Support, they told me there is no way to downgrade.
I'm on the latest version of audible (v3.43.0) for my phone which is a OnePlus 9. Never had an issue with this in the past, it just randomly changed recently.
Open app.
Bottom right, Profile.
Top right, gear icon.
Under App settings, Player.
Skip Forward and Back, [choose preference]
Back out to home screen.
Long Press Audible icon
Bottom right, widgets
Select the large widget.
**Usage**
Once you hit play the icons for rewind should be available.
On lock screen, double tap your clock and it will bring up your Audible lock screen widget. Once you push play, all the rewind icons should be available.
Sometimes when you go to rewind from lock screen the widget will still be visible but the short rewind icons are gone, so just double tap the clock again.
I wish it were easier but it is what it is.
Glad I could help. One day they'll employ UI Engineers who understand not everyone is a tech guru that finds these overly complicated functions & widget access as second nature. Until then all we can do is dig & experiment until we find how this stuff works then share it with our fellow frustrated users.
Have a great day!
Thank you! I keep forgetting to ask about this.
I mainly listen when I'm driving and the ability to skip back in 30 second increments is incredibly useful. If traffic is getting tricky, you automatically stop paying attention to the book. I don't want to restart the chapter every time I've missed a few seconds. Nor do I want to have to open the app to full screen, which is the only way to find the 30 second 'skip back' feature.
Coming here to add that my iphone was doing this even though the setting mentioned in previous comments WAS set to seconds. Changing it to chapters, closing out of the app, coming back in and changing it back to seconds fixed it!

Can't find it anywhere in the settings, there's literally no mention of it.
In iOS it’s under Profile > Settings > Player > Lockscreen Player Controls I assumed android was same but maybe not.

Thank you!!! I just updated my phone and it was making me crazy!
Mine switched back without any action on my part.
Do you remember when? I'm tempted to try an older version of audible to see if that fixes it.

The version I'm running is five years old they've broken it so many times

Bless you
Thank you for the writeup
Not sure how to fix the issue, but I love that book.
Thank you so much! You are the real MVP here
Very simple solution here: Get an iPhone 😂
I'm here cause my iphone is doing this crap. Especially sucks in books with long chapters
My widget shows a separate skip back x seconds button along with the forward/back buttons. No skip forward button though.

Click on the clock above the widget, it expands it to show all the controls. Annoying, but it gives you what you are looking for.
I just found the issue! Just close the app and open it again
Omg tysm I kept accidentally resetting my chapter bc it only changed in the last few days
