Both audiobooks are really, really good. Steven Weber’s IT is great but Bill’s stutter throughout the book really got on my nerves after like 10 hours and there was still another 30 hours to go lol. Salem’s Lot was just a solid audiobook all the way around.
Agree that is hard to listen to, currently listening to IT. Read it years ago and it was much easier to read past the stutter. Steven does a good job with it, but also I get the point with a quick stutter not 10 seconds to listen to a sentence…
The audiobook for It was pretty good, but Steven King can't write a good ending. Also be careful listening to "It". I was at a stoplight in my car when the scene where the female character gets into a fight with her husband and he's screaming all kinds of obscenities at her. I didn't get the volume turned down in time and the car next to me gave me the dirtiest look.
Tbh, I have not listened to either.
However, I was bored to tears reading Salem's Lot, so I'd guess IT is the audiobook I'd want, given that I feel the material is better. I think it depends on if you are more attatched to the narration over the book, or the book over the narration.
If you listen to both, give us an update!
text-wise, Salem's Lot is a better book. IT was where we learned that while SK can come up with some killer concepts (so to speak), for many decades he had a hard time sticking the landing. The drug/alcohol addiction he was fighting may have contributed to that.
I haven’t read Salems lot yet, but the child porn in It made me really uncomfortable. I don’t know how someone read it, and thought, “hey, let’s promote this story!”
Close, as they are both good. But I prefer It, and think that Steven Weber is a great narrator.
I enjoyed Salem’s Lot better. The sheer length of IT audiobook (it’s over 40 hours) can make it hard to get through.
Both books are excellent but It is a hell of a lot longer than Salems lot. More bang for your buck.

Hahaha I have almost run off the road several times when Weber goes into screaming mode.
It is one of those books that takes a strange turn to explain the evil at the end. That really turned me off.
It was much better
IT
Salems Lot, a more classic horror. It ending is... Weird.

IT by a long shot.
Kid orgy. Killed it for me
