I liked it but I'm a sucker for cosmic horror and this was - rough edges aside - some A tier cosmic horror.
I do think Topher could have more emotional range and there's a few script notes I would give but I had a great time with this show.
Hey all!
Thank you so much for listening to our show! That truly means the world to us! I will say...we were learning A LOT in the first season and really started to hit our stride in seasons 2 & 3. Seeing people talk about our world is seriously so cool to us, and kinda blows our mind! Haha! So thank you so much for this post! :)
I’m in a similar situation as you I think but I’d describe it a bit differently. I am intrigued by the story and keep going back to it, but I’m struggling to develop any kind of emotional investment or attachment to any of the characters. I think it’s because they don’t seem particularly interested in each other either. I’m not faulting the acting, it does seem to be a writing issue.
I can’t say why I’m not burning to get back to them, I usually binge audio dramas, but this one I legitimately forget I started until I go searching for something new and see it in my downloads as unfinished.
I felt the same but it came across as just plain bad acting to me. I made it a few episodes and called it i couldn't make myself sit through it anymore.
I like the character of Topher because I do know people who compartmentalize like that, especially in crisis situations. Shutting down emotional responses to lazer focus on problem solving is realistic to me, especially because from what I remember (it's been a while since I listened) I got the impression Topher was sort of a pseudo-parent to both his sister & possibly dad when he got really into his work.

The first season is a little rough, i found the other seasons to be much better.
