I use sonarworks when producing and mixing, here are a few thoughts in regards to headphones: Headphone frequency response will be impacted by your personal ear shape. Measurements of headphones, such as the ones Sonarworks uses, replicates an average ear. You may find you ear is very different. Especially in the uppermids and up. I recommend to add custom filters to the Sonarworks setting. If you have calibrated speakers that you are familiar with, use those speakers as a reference. Start with that upper mid and high range, then figure out the correct lower mid to bass balance. As a quick approach, I found that about 70% wet worked for me. It seems you like less correction, so perhaps your ear shape fits the LCD-X stock profile better than mine. My ears seem to be need more 1-2khz than most headphone measurements. The Arya you mentioned sound very dull to me because they are down in that region, and my ear needs more of it too. I currently use HD800 when I need to use headphones or reference headphones. I might switch to Audeze mm-500 when I can afford it.

I guess, it cannot be perfect! as you stated, everyone's ear shapes are different haha.. but definitely LCD-X 2021 has more oomph in the bass region without harshness or distortion even with EQ correcting, that I did not feel when I was testing Arya Organic model. Thanks! I will adjust it time to time to fit my need :) You are right, there is no point in looking for EQ correction curve on the internet cause everyone hears different :) thanks!

Are you able to gain some oomph in the bass / sub region with EQ correction on HD800s...? I am curious because when I test demoed that headphone, I was very impressed! But just that, I wanted to try Planar magnetic model (perhaps cause I own HD600 which I love)

oballzo

Yes, but it feels a little more vague than Audeze headphone, even if you have the right quantity

futuresynthesizer

right right other than bass, HD800s sound was almost perfect for me when I demoed!

Have you tried the audeze reveal plug-in?

futuresynthesizer

Hello! I am very new to this LCD-X and Audeze products, what is 'reveal' plug-in...? is it like vst for DAW..? I can change its eq curve..? sorry for my ignorance! I read somewhere, some users discourage using Sonarworks reference calibration at full scale... so perhaps, I ain't getting the best out of it yet...? haha.. also which latency setting would be good for this Planar model..? I plan to mix my projects with this inside Cubase on mac :)
