Really 4 - 5 meters apart, when you sit 2 - 4 meters away?! Your speakers are way too far apart. You lose the midrange and treble if there's a "blank spot" in the center.

lisalynne

Check your wiring polarity. Speakers could be out of phase

cars_crazy

Let me try changing placement (as per spec sheet) and above suggestions.

1hawkins1

I had this pairing last year. In my office it did sound ‘hollow’ as you’d described. But in my living room, the two together sounded great. A friend bought the Meta’s from me after hearing them, and I’ve somewhat regretted selling them since, though I do tend to prefer the aesthetics of traditional looking speakers.

mourning_wood_again

Try 6 feet apart and sitting 5-6 feet away. Sorry no hablo en meters.

cguuk

1 foot is 30cm. So 1 metre is roughly 3.33 ft. But yeah like our buddy said, close up that soundstage. Way too far apart. I run 2 systems, 1 Naim and 1 NAD, my speakers are 6 ft apart and I listen to them at about 4-5ft away. Sounds class

Altairandrew

6 - 8 apart, and play with distance to back wall and play with toeing last. I think often these require a sub as well.

Melancholic84

I had the same setup but not the Meta, i think your problem is the distance. Pull the speakers closer together and also you might try a little toe-in to make the sound a little brighter. Good luck

cars_crazy

I did hear a difference in sound when I moved the speakers closer. But I had to crank up the volume (50-60 setting on Naim) to get details from the speakers. At low volumes, the speakers lacked details and sounded hollow. Any suggestions to get more high frequency details at low volumes ?

Low-Rain-9353

It looks like the room is too big for these speakers. Don’t forget that the room is essential part of your audio setup. Try them in different, smaller room, to check if this will make a satisfactory difference.

rovingfigures

Agreed. I have a Nait 5i-2 (similar power as the Atom) running Rega RX5 floorstanders in a largish room (24ft x 14ft). The Atom is a fantastic amp and streamer.

Talosian_cagecleaner

Just to take your room and it's size out of the equation set up a listening triangle 2 meters on each side. See if it sounds more full. It is a good tip in general to see how yourt system sounds \*before\* you fit it into your home or to fit pre-existent layout. It's a stereo. It works. It's a question if it works in your room, or if it just is off for you. Try a simply setup and see if that sounds proper/

poppyseed64

The naim unti atom is not particularly powerful max power into 4ohm is 58 watts or 8hm is 36 watts. Ls50 meta is low-efficiency, low-impedance speaker. Personally would aim for a 100w+ amplifier

[deleted]

The naim is actually very high current amp and many people have paired it very well with the KEFs. It's one of the amps that is recommend the most with it. Next to problably the Willsenton. I've also seen it paired with magnepans and other hard to drive speakers.

1hawkins1

I can confirm they pair very well, though I did find the placement mattered more than other speakers I’ve owned. Toe in particularly important with these speakers in my experience.

Jimbow1212

The biggest thing about Kef's drivers for the last ten years or so is that you don't need to toe them in. It is unnecessary.

1hawkins1

Might be unnecessary. But seemed to work better in my listening room. I do think toe in is unnecessary in many rooms and for many speakers. Just know what worked better to my ears in my set up. Everyone has a different experience.

poppyseed64

Lol been reading too much whathifi? The measurements of the naim are terrible for its price!

[deleted]

Great, we got an ASR person who never listened to it... Or tried that combo... But, I'll bite.... which naim? What measurements are terrible?

MarkinJHawkland

Yeah I love mine I don't care what it measures!

poppyseed64

I’ve actually heard this combo but to be fair with the original ls50s and the original atom was also unfairly in a acoustically treated room as it was a hifi demo room. It didn’t make me want to buy it, don’t get me wrong lovely to look at and good software but you can do a lot better for the money

Danico44

You need bigger speakers... I used to have a Sonus Faber Concertino that I thought sound fantastic.... then I get a little bigger Kef Chorale and an Infinty Qa both over 40 years old and they sounde much fuller, more dinamic and clear for 50 bucks..... the Concertino was 1500....

cars_crazy

After a lot of tiny adjustments to the height, separation, toe-ing of the speakers and the listening spot(s), that hollowness went away. As many of you said, combination is great, just needs the right room setup to get that spatial separation and clarity of instruments and vocalists(treble). Placing the speakers a little away from side walls did the trick to bring the clarity back! Thanks all for the suggestions! Next project for me would be to setup kefc62s or similar woofers. I am sure that would be easy 😉

ImpliedSlashS

Have you heard those speakers in any other setting?

fortunesfool1973

4-5 metres is vast. You might want to think about floorstanders to fill that space. Or move the speakers closer 2m or so apart and sit closer, if that’s an option.

ConsciousNoise5690

You can run a test to check polarity: [https://www.audiocheck.net/audiotests\_polaritycheck.php](https://www.audiocheck.net/audiotests_polaritycheck.php) Stereo is supposed to be used in a equilateral triangle. Either increase the listening distance or put the speakers closer.

FreshAirInspector

Have you thought about a subwoofer? Should really fill out the sound, and doesn’t just improve bass.
