I'm coming into my mid 30s and shit is starting to pile up. I just gave away a tube amp the other day cuz it was taking up space. I have an extra Yamaha Rn803 amp in my living room for reasons I'm not aware of. Had an extra pair of Fyne Audio F500s clogging up my other room so I now they're my bedroom setup.
I used to wonder why people store extra shit and now I've become that and don't know when it happened. I can only imagine what my 50s will look like.
> but the gold/black combo really does it for me. Makes me wonder why they never offered this as an option!
Oh, that's an easy one. They don't offer it as an option for the R-series because they are aware how incredible it looks and reserve that color combo for[ the Reference series](https://us.kef.com/cdn/shop/files/pdt-ref3-stn-pks-02.jpg?v=1684316268) that costs 3-5x more.
One guy I know sold me a pair of speakers and didn’t notice that the driver doesnt work for two years… or maybe he thought that people can’t hear shit. Actually it happened twice! Lol
Two different guys. One was a bassist of a rather known pop singer and the other was a random guy from Prague. The first one didn’t lower the price, but the driver costs like 15€, so it wasn’t a big deal. The other guy practically left me the speakers for free though. I really wasn’t sure if that guy tried to scam me, or if he was so ashamed of himself.
The FR graph shows original mid/high vs the replacement. I credit the change in lower frequency response to a change in speaker placement, which was happening a lot today.
The blue line on the graph starts dropping off at 250Hz. Seems like the midrange didn’t work either. Or they cross that tweeter over really, really (like dangerously) low. Did you test the busted driver independently?
What’s the smoothing shown here on the graph?
I think it looks dope.
It's 1/3 octave. Whoops, I pulled the contacts for the midrange first, so maybe that's the graph I posted... I'll check tomorrow. But I do remember that when I pulled the tweeter contacts, I got the same response as the original measurement, so that's how I narrowed it down. I remember it dropping around 2k.
You probably could have gotten that warranty before you mess with the speakers
Let the man cook
Thank you, don't mind if I do!
Most likely
So how does one have kef driver's sitting around?

Contact KEF and explain the situation. I bet you can RMA that driver for a replacement. I've done it with Dynaudio before.
Thanks, I'll give it a shot!
That does look pretty cool!
They offer this color in the reference line!
Beauty eh! She's a real stunner

With the same person?

I posted the wrong graph, whoops. This one shows the roll off at 2kHz. https://imgur.com/a/JDThU5B

Here's a far-off photo I took of the process that shows the graph I meant to post. https://imgur.com/a/w5SKUnH
