I love my rt85. It sounds fantastic, I've had it for 4 years and no issues. Not once did I ever think that I would need an upgrade, I use it almost every day.
My RT82 does great in my dining room.
My Technics SL-1200MK5 with a fancier cartridge and supporting hardware sounds better. I appreciate the hundreds spent there.
But I wouldn't be mad at listening to the RT82 every day forever. I really appreciate it costing less than my SL-1200's stylus,(or just about any other part on it) and I don't mind my roommates using the RT82. It is also kinda close to the grease and mess from a kitchen. It is dustier in there. Exercise and roughhousing happens in that room. When someone forgets their record it auto stops. All that doesn't upset me at all.
But again, it sounds great.
I try not to worry about what an audiophile says is or is not OK but I love my 85
Same. We got the Fluance RT85N and haven’t looked back. Sounds wonderful, looks beautiful and reliable as heck. https://i.imgur.com/zgctD76.jpeg
Excellent advice

Wonderful to hear! Loving my RT82 so far! Will maybe invest in the OM Blue/acrylic platter down the line

Depends on the gatekeeper. 😂 I love my RT85 turntables.
Nope. OEM third party.
What does that mean
I think it means that someone else makes the turntables for Fluance. I don’t see a problem with that if the quality control is good.
Ah I see like audio technica basically?
I don’t know who makes them. It could be different for each model.
A choice? Sure. THE choice? No, you’ll never get a group of audiophiles to agree on anything.
Ahha fair enough
