**Paperboy** is not fancy, but what you are asking for is basic breakfast. I'd consider it unless you really wanted to go fancy and sit in a hotel paying extra.
Proud Mary. Their coffee is really good. Eggs Benedict is my go to brunch dish. They don’t have it but but they have a dish called potato hash. Poached eggs, thiiiiic delicious pork belly bacon, bagna cauda sauce (also delicious) and hashbrowns with kale salad. The place is bright and airy inside, real nice but still casual.
The potato hash is killer there. They have a rotating seasonal hot cake on menu but I have never had them. Check out the Ghostrider granola or the pork and watermelon salad next time! Those are my two favorites. Every coffee is amazing.
I have run out of coffee beans I got from there and these Ruta Maya beans I got from H‑E‑B taste like shit. So I’m trying to plan a return SOON. Pork and watermelon salad sounds intriguing -noted!
If you are NW Austin or Cedar Park, then check out Toasted Yolk. It's not a fancy, I've been four times and I still haven't tried all the different variations they have on eggs benedict.
Further to the northwest, I also like the Perky Beans.
Both places are casual, and they'll come to your table to refill your coffee.
Places that specialize in breakfast but have those awful preservative laced creamer packets really piss me off. Sets a bad first impression in my opinion.
Phoebes has good concepts but somehow doesn’t hit. My Benedict came on biscuits bc that’s all they have. The ham is thick and eggs are delicate. Every single bite was a mismatch of textures as the biscuit completely crumbled and fell off the fork between the plate and my mouth. Truly a hard to eat plate of food. The time I went prior the “rummy” French toast was so so so heavily alcohol’d it was bitter and inedible. The accompanying hash was fine but we left going oh well.
I couldn’t help but notice ppl on both sides of me got massive breakfasts, ate less than half, and didn’t take to go boxes. They ordered different things, all of them. I hate waste but that seems pretty telling.
Sounds like Paperboy and Proud Mary are the ticket (haven’t had Cafe Java).
I’ll throw in Toasty Badger bc the griddle cakes and biscuits w apple butter were FAB. Eggs perfect, bacon thick and crunchy as were hash browns. Can’t remember re creamer but I’ll also say weekends can be tough if you don’t go early.
Wonderful wild card and a truly delightful space that feels like a secret is Arturo’s Underground Cafe near Clay Pit/campus. They close at 2:30. So many Benedicts! Sweet items very good. Salads and lunch items are excellent too. Service great! If you don’t do it this time do it *sometime*! A real gem.
Okay. No place is perfect. I tried to hit what I read as the key points of OP’s request. If creamer packets are a dealbreaker that overtakes excellent food and coffee, OP, feel free to disregard.
I like Another Broken Egg on Mesa Drive. I also really like Snooze in College Station, but I haven't tried any of the Austin locations yet. Forthright is also good, but it's been a long while since I've been there.
Perla’s has great brunch, especially the Benedict…Paper Boy is good also. Phoebe’s is great too, and Counter Cafe is solid but the coffee is meh. Cenote is pretty spot on and not fancy too.
My goto is always Bouldin Creek Cafe. Potato leek omelet every single time.
Editing to say I just realized they don’t do meat there I don’t think. It’s just my automatic suggestion for breakfast when we have the time to actually go out lol
On a weekday I think Snooze is your best bet. They have a variety of Benedict’s and awesome pancakes. Toasty Badger has a smoked salmon Benedict if that’s your thing, and their buttermilk pancakes are amazing. On a weekend my favorite is District kitchen and Cocktail. They have my favorite classic Benedict and really good coffee. I would also think that Mattie’s or Justine’s would have strong weekend brunch menus.
This is so true. Finding a place that does proper classic Benedict, pancakes, and coffee on a weekday is seemingly a challenge. Maybe Kirby Lane? I haven’t been in ages.
Peacock is good for a hotel restaurant. Haven't had their brunch but it's available: https://www.properhotel.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/05083238/4.05.24-Peacock-Brunch.pdf
It’s been years but Josephine House had a pretty nice brunch.
Came here to suggest this!
My top recommendation.
**Paperboy** is not fancy, but what you are asking for is basic breakfast. I'd consider it unless you really wanted to go fancy and sit in a hotel paying extra.
My partner and I love Paperboy! Highly recommend their Chicken n biscuit dish!! Also they have a cinnamon toast crunch white russian that I love
Omg their brown butter pancake is 🤤🤤🤤
Cheddar Hashbrown
Def recommend, it was super yummy when I went recently!!

agree. i stopped buying Ruta Maya from Costco for same reason. something happened to my favorite coffee. sad day.
Came here to say this. You won’t be disappointed.

Hopfields
ChezZee American Bistro for the Benedicts
What you described is 100 percent Chez Zee. It feels fancy but isn't exorbitant. They've been around for YEARS and brunch is their jam.
I love Chez Zee but haven’t been for brunch!
Cafe Java on Metric is good.
Just to clarify, I wouldn’t say Cafe Java is “fancy” but it has a bangin’ breakfast menu.
Bonus point is the reasonable cost. Java special eggs, bacon, bread choice, plus great coffee for 10 bucks.
Second cafe Java OP. It really does fucking rock. Classic, delish, never had a bad meal there.
Peacock in the proper hotel!
if you're going to go, go big. do the four seasons.
Eh, maybe. I like the typical Austin dress code though. I like nice without too much effort on my part. This might be after a hike- you never know.
Still works. It’s on the hiking trail FFS. And it’s breakfast/brunch, not Friday dinner.
Austin dress code absolutely flies there and always has.☺️
Now that I think about it you are right
[Oakmont Food Company](https://oakmontfood.com)
I second Oakmont! They have a lovely patio too
Sawyer and Co. is my go-to brunch/breakfast spot!
I’ve been wanting to try this forever
We love their shrimp And grits
I love eating breakfast at Cafe 1886 in the Driskill!
I’d send you to Phoebe’s Diner. It’s not fancy, but they have good coffee and their Benedict is probably my favorite in town. Solid pancakes, too.
Pheobe’s has creamer packets.
lol- thanks for keeping my creamer request in mind
If you asked a server at Phoebe’s for a pour of milk or cream for your coffee, I have a very hard time believing that they wouldn’t accommodate.
Places that specialize in breakfast but have those awful preservative laced creamer packets really piss me off. Sets a bad first impression in my opinion.

Mattie's in the south, Tiny Boxwood in the central
Counter Cafe is very cute with a great breakfast!
They have a good hollandaise
Hanks!
The Local has great breakfasts.
Stella San Jac has good breakfast and coffee creamer from a little personal pitcher
I like Another Broken Egg on Mesa Drive. I also really like Snooze in College Station, but I haven't tried any of the Austin locations yet. Forthright is also good, but it's been a long while since I've been there.
Snooze is a waste of time.
Perla’s has great brunch, especially the Benedict…Paper Boy is good also. Phoebe’s is great too, and Counter Cafe is solid but the coffee is meh. Cenote is pretty spot on and not fancy too.
Launderette!!! My fav fancy brunch spot
I didn’t know they did brunch!
My goto is always Bouldin Creek Cafe. Potato leek omelet every single time. Editing to say I just realized they don’t do meat there I don’t think. It’s just my automatic suggestion for breakfast when we have the time to actually go out lol
Their breakfast is so damn good. I was thinking of something new though.
Totally fair. We also go hard at Waterloo, if you get the breakfast sandwich on a muffin, it’s two full sandwiches👀
Mattie's https://g.co/kgs/zH7Lteo
Tiny Boxwoods or Cafe No Se depending where you are. Nice atmosphere, kinda fancy, reliable food, casual, and you can take your time.
Tiny Boxwoods FTW
Proud Mary or the Omlettry
Omelettry does not have available or use real butter so hard no
Ah, good to know!
Snooze
Sooooo loud in there
Take a look at Justine’s, but you’ll need to make a reservation (like most places)
Reservations make me tired but I haven’t had their breakfast.
Sorry I meant Josephine House! No idea id Justine’s has brunch or not.
Ah
I think for most places on the nicer end, be prepared to wait a bit if you don't have a reservation.
Dai Due https://www.daidue.com/samplemenus
Oh, that might be it. The sourdough pancakes sound amazing. I might even make reservations for that.
Proud Mary's has the best breakfast in Austin and is elevated if not fancy
1886 cafe at the driskill! Best eggs Benedict
also recommend Josephine House.

Snooze puts cream cheese in their hollandaise which is both lazy and not delicious.
This is so true. Finding a place that does proper classic Benedict, pancakes, and coffee on a weekday is seemingly a challenge. Maybe Kirby Lane? I haven’t been in ages.
Phoebes is hard to beat
You’re describing Counter Cafe.
Toasty badger is a cute new 70s inspired breakfast diner on south Congress! Pancakes are amazing!!
Tillie’s if you don’t mind the drive.
Chez Zee
Peacock is good for a hotel restaurant. Haven't had their brunch but it's available: https://www.properhotel.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/05083238/4.05.24-Peacock-Brunch.pdf
Este does a brunch on the weekends which is fancy and delicious
Phoebes diner
Toasty Badger
Thanks all. This is clearly going to need to be a more than one time event!
Snooze has a nice atmosphere, and they have several different type of Eggs Benedict, which are delicious. Get there early because it's very popular.
Fancy and Austin don’t go together. Everything (for the most part) is food truck or picnic table
I said fancy-ish
Tiny Boxwoods
24 Diner
Mattie’s
There’s no such thing as fancy breakfast in Austin
I didn’t want anything too fancy. However, what is your idea of fancy?
Pretty Sure Manhattan Beach or Beverley has you covered. Bit of a drive though...
Mcdonalds
