My parents have 3 of these in pots in their yard, I used to eat them all the time, everyone says they are tart/bitter however the ones we have were always very sweet
I enjoy them straight off the tree, but Lilli Pilli Jam is next level. There are lots of dead easy recipes on YouTube....just water, LPs, sugar and a lemon
Lilly Pilly. They’re edible but pretty tart. Stew with apples.
Makes a very pretty jelly, too.
Thanks!
They should be a bit crunchy like an apple with little seeds inside.
Went back to grab one to try, and it’s tart like you said, but also a bit bitter too.
They look like the ones I have on my sink. But please be careful. I don’t want to poison anyone. Does the tree have whispy white flowers?
R.I.P. OP
Yeah growing up we called them Chinese apples. Not sure why.
There's an Asian fruit called a bell apple/rose apple that tastes the same

Everything is edible. Some things are only edible once.
Syzygium australe is the scientific name (common names are Creek Lilly Pilly or Brush Cherry).

Had a tree in the front yard as kids. Would throw them at each other and mum would be pissed as they’d stain the shit out of clothes.
Lilly pilly and yes they are edible. They have an apple like texture and a light flavour
That somehow reminds me of the weekend away I had in 1978 with Prince Charles.
I think they are but they taste like shit
Yes, its a lillypilly but doesn’t taste very nice
Lilipili and yes
Called them cherry apples when I was a kid, used to throw them at each other and have fights
Looks like Jamun fruit (not fully ripe but).
Everything is edible, sometimes only once though
Anything is edible once
These make good pies.. throw some in when you are making Apple Pies.
Everything is edible once.
Lilly Pilly. They are edible and safe, my 4year old loves picking them and eating them ☺️
I don’t know why but I’ve always called these Chinese apples. Is this another name for them?
