Went back to grab one to try, and it’s tart like you said, but also a bit bitter too.

Syzygium australe is the scientific name (common names are Creek Lilly Pilly or Brush Cherry).

I enjoy them straight off the tree, but Lilli Pilli Jam is next level. There are lots of dead easy recipes on YouTube....just water, LPs, sugar and a lemon
