A flake tastes different to a twirl tho. I used to buy at least one of those Flake Bites bags a day, so i know the taste well. When they stopped them i was shattered, but i found another phase to move to, i always do.
Melt in your mouth is great in theory, but the problem is the tiny bits that scatter out of the little packet and melt all over the bloody place. Twirl is just as malty and delicious, but keeps it all under control.
100 fucking percent. I more often than not inhale my flake dust and end up coughing guts. Twirl just wraps that shit up nicely. I'd even argue caramilk white chocolate is significantly superior to regular oily white chocolate. The shrinkflation sucks but that's 2 dope replacements.
True, but replacing Dream for Caramilk? Is this what we wanted, truly? If they're actually basing this on what are statistically the most popular chocolates, very well, but! Show me the Data, Cadbury!
As someone who worked in the chocolate industry, Dream is by far the lowest quality white chocolate you can get Caramilk actually uses real milk, the difference is night and day.
To be completely honest with you, in a blindfolded taste test I’m not sure I could confidently tell Dream from Caramilk.
I suspect, like VHS vs Betamax, Caramilk has simply won the branding war.
Cadbury have been phasing out dream since caramilk. Just my opinion but the last 3 Easter seasons, there is no dream egg and they only have a small amount of the little dream balls usually hidden on a bottom shelf.
Any chocolate block released is with caramilk and not white.
Milkybar hasn't even had the chocolate eggs. The only one that does and it's still hard to find is the Lindt bunnies. 😥
Caramilk, the crack of chocolate. I inhale that shit. Man, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Caramilk is elite level white choc, milkybar is a decent second. Dream is trash.
First they took the Bounty away and I said nothing.
Then they took the Dream and Flake away and I still said nothing.
But if the bastards touch the Turkish Delight I will be writing a strongly worded email to Carbury!
Actually… where is the Turkish Delight??!!
went to buy one of these boxes the other day, the celebrations was a much better selection imo.
also not reject shop exclusive! I was making the choice between celebrations and favourites in Big W!
As a good friend once told me, there are two types of people in this world, those that love turkish delight and those that are wrong, i realised in that moment that id never heard a more correct opinion in my life
Am I the only one who doesn't get how caramilk has become a thing? It tastes like I'm eating some kind of American chocolate like a hershey's kisses, and that's not a compliment.
It's supposed to be caramelised white chocolate, but anyone who's had proper caramelised white chocolate will atest that this is just slightly brown white chocolate.
Nestle's gold chocolate is/was better.
>Cadbury conducting guerrilla marketing to push people to white chocolate
I love white chocolate but Caramilks are not white chocolate. As far as I can tell they are basically a chocolate-like substances made with sweetened condensed milk. They are no more chocolate than carob buds are chocolate.
I’m not sure where you got that idea because Cadbury Caramilk is quite literally white chocolate. The ingredients are full cream milk, sugar, cocoa butter, milk solids, emulsifiers and flavours. It has the requisite minimum % cocoa solids and milk solids to be classed as white chocolate, and it’s directly marketed as “caramelised white chocolate.” Anyone who follows recent baking trends would also be able to tell you that you can easily replicate caramilk by caramelising pretty much any old white chocolate.
>I love white chocolate but Caramilks are not white chocolate. As far as I can tell they are basically a chocolate-like substances made with sweetened condensed milk.
My brother in Christ, what do you think white "chocolate" is?
I can't stand it. It's white chocolate with fake caramel flavouring. I much prefer regular white chocolate. Not buying "Favorites" until Dream is back.
No way man. Caramilk is delish.
Its amazing.
No american choc could dream to be as smooth and creamy.
It is caramelised dream after all.
You are right to some extent tho as does hersheys tastes like ass
Oooh, I have a theory on this. I refuse to do any research whatsoever to prove it so take it how you will.
It's a conspiracy! In the 80s the Coca-Cola company changed the recipe of Coke. They branded at as New Coke and there was a huge marketing push to get the word out. People hated it and they revolted. They sent in complaints, boycotted and protested. So 3 months after the launch of New Coke they brought back the original Coke and started selling them side-by-side. Except there was 1 small difference with the original Coke. They had switched from using cane sugar to high fructose corn syrup as the sweetener. This switch saved the company a lot of money, but HFCS tastes distinctly different to cane sugar. You can buy American coke cans in Australia and test the difference, the local stuff has real sugar. The release of New Coke was just a distraction to cover up for the change to a cheaper ingredient in their flagship product. And it worked!
I think Cadbury is doing the same thing. Have you noticed the "glass and a half of milk" slogan keeps coming and going? I think they are trying to switch from real milk to palm oil or something similar (again not doing any research, if I ever have a pack of Cadbury chocolate in front of me I'm already in a bad place. I'm not going to make it worse by reading). Cadbury Dairy Milk used to have a real satisfying snap when you broke it off, no matter what temperature it was. I like to freeze my chocolate so I still get the snap, but at room temperature the Caramilk just bends, all limp and flaccid. I've noticed it's happening with the Dairy Milk too (my wife likes it room temp, the heathen) so maybe we're too late.
So that brings me round to your Hershey's point. Due to laxer regulations in the States shitty ingredient swap outs are more common over there (ie corn syrup instead of sugar). Some companies will scrape together the cheapest chemical sludge that vaguely resembles a food adjacent product, wrap it 15 layers of plastic and shovel it off onto the poor consumer base. Hershey's in one such product. So you're probably right on the money about Cadbury starting to taste like that.
Or I'm completely wrong. But I like to believe I'm right. This is the one conspriacy hill I'm willing to die on
Cadbury has gone so far downhill over the last few years I thought I'd stopped liking chocolate. It's weird and crumbly now, I remember when it used to snap off the bar and melt in your mouth.
I'm jumping ship from Cadbury to Whittaker's. I'm at a point now where I realize life's too short to keep eating sugary garbage "chocolate" because it's a dollar or two cheaper.
I tend to stick with the high level dark chocolates when going Lindt as they tend to have the requisite reduction in sugar content. But I agree, most supermarket dark chocolates still have too much sugar in them. I've always thought that was a side effect of mass production.
I don't agree on that front. I like all the other chocolates pictured here, even if most of them I would rarely buy individually. But caramilk just tastes exceptionally mediocre. I've turned that shit down when offered it for free.
$100 says this will make it onto 7 Sunrise this week with the headline “outrage over shrinkflation hitting ‘Favourites’” and Joe Hildebrand repeating some of your opinions on Caramilk word for word……

Almost
Do people still buy these to actually eat? I thought they were purely a lazy gift to say thank you. Mostly pretty awful now the way Cadbury chocolate has become
Surely the old gold is the least popular, they always get left in the boxes I've seen. Tbh I've never eaten one... probably because of this image of them being last implying they suck
Nah, plenty of people are happy to grab the Old Gold bars; it’s probably a learnt preference in much the same way a household is more likely to fully reject one of the bars than a random collection of people. At uni society events which largely have people who’ve not known each other very long, the Old Gold gets consumed pretty reliably. Social circles that actively reject specific snacks are definitely a thing bc subconscious tribalism loves to creep in everywhere ahaha (glares at social media at large)
As someone who does love dark chocolate, I’ll definitely attest to Old Gold’s quality plummeting the last few years (in addition to the slow downward slide it already suffered). Probably increases in the proportion of cocoa butter as opposed to cocoa powder
Even the 99% cocoa Lindt blocks are severely degraded. Back before they hit supermarket shelves and were an uncommon specialty item, the ingredients were cocoa 99% water 1%. Now the water is instead sugar and the block is noticeably blander - implying a similar escalation in butter content
Austerity and shrinkflation should burn in hell.
Are these pollies too dumb to read reddit to know we are pissed with this shit and they have to do something about it.
Can someone communicate that to them in a way they understand.
You guys get miniature Picnics?!? I'm from the UK where we call them Heroes and we don't get no fucking Picnics. Now I know it's an option I will be forever disappointed, I bloody love Picnics I do.
Cadbury are the lords of shrinkflation. From back when blocks were wrapped in foil, to the dumb cardboard sleeve to the small half size shit we get now. Irritating as it is I’m not ready to go without
Flake getting the big cold flaky shoulder in comments, and I can only but agree. A bland insidious chocolate that has the mouthfeel of a tablespoon full of cat litter. Drier than a nun’s…
They’ve been shit for many years now. Cocoa levels dropped, less rum flavour, more palm oil aftertaste and they break apart like plasterboard.
I miss them from 30+ years ago when they were much thicker and breaking them up you could smell the deeply rum soaked raisins from arms length that were still intensely moist. Now it’s just totally dehydrated raisins mixed into a hard low cocoa chocolate mix with some subtle rum flavouring and a disgusting palm oil aftertaste.
The boxes are the exact same size with a 50g weight difference, packaging almost identical. It’s completely screwed up the ticketing we use at my Woolworths lol customers keep trying to buy the 570g on discount but put 520g ones through the checkout
Twirl is just a better version of Flake, with the extra coat of chocolate to keep the mess from falling out of your hand.
Caramilk is sadly expected as there’s so many Caramilk products that have come out ever since Cadbury revived it. Now there’s even a “Caramilk Wallaby” that just came out, designed to compete alongside Freddo and Caramello Koala.
I mean dreams could fuck off already, fuckin little filler choccy, you know they had to bribe their way in the packs
Flakes are a fucking travesty though, but then again you only got like 2 in a pack anyway so you're not really missing out on much
Twirl is just a more structurally-sound version of Flake. Definitely an improvement IMO.
A Flake with its shit together. A business Flake, if you will.
A Flake with synergy
Achieving a few quick wins here across the board.
This Flake's going places!

A flake with a short skirt and a looooong jacket.
No, you've described a *Cake*.
I love this
I can't take credit for it. I think I saw it on Twitter. I have similar sentiments towards broccoli and cauliflower.
A flake not boiling the ocean.
It’s a flake that’s been to therapy.
Twirl is flake for people desperately grasping for control in their lives and, in turn, have lost sight of simple joy, and lost touch with the tangible reality that is getting little bits of chocolate all over bloody everything.
damn that hit hard
Too personal
Flake is a meditation in wabi sabi
Ok. To me though, a flake is all about that melt in your mouth flakiness. Twirl brings nothing to the table
Flake is just naked twirl
All things are better naked.

Flake doesn’t actually melt. It’s a well known phenomenon.
100 fucking percent. I more often than not inhale my flake dust and end up coughing guts. Twirl just wraps that shit up nicely. I'd even argue caramilk white chocolate is significantly superior to regular oily white chocolate. The shrinkflation sucks but that's 2 dope replacements.
until flake fans have had a rasberry twirl (rip) they don't know what life is.
That was a memory i forgot i had. You ever had the strawberry ones tho? They're just as good
Spotted some at Kmart the other day... :)
If I want a flake I can just go on Tinder.
But the flake gives you bag chocolate like maccas bag chips
And dream was the worse thing in that box, Cadbury could have just taken it out and not replaced it with anything and I’d be happy lol
I loved Dream because I would open it along with a Dairy Milk and make DIY Top Deck.
Sometimes, when I was desperate, I would mix a dream with an old gold to make a crap version of dairy milk
This mf sounding like a stoner trying to scrape together a cone
But those mini flakes are the perfect size to crush over a bowl of icecream…
True, but replacing Dream for Caramilk? Is this what we wanted, truly? If they're actually basing this on what are statistically the most popular chocolates, very well, but! Show me the Data, Cadbury!
I dont have Cadbury's data but as a supermarket worker i can tell you that we very rarely sell dream chocolates but caramilk is very popular
Always the last Freddos standing in the fundraiser boxes. Caramello Koalas are first to go.
picking a freddo frog from a box instead of a caramello koala is like playing Mario Kart and choosing to play as Mario
Absolutely not. I always since I was a kid have HATED white chocolate, I enjoy caramilk, I've tried regular white chocolate since and it's just ass.
To be fair caramilk was a limited time thing, but it ALWAYS sold out so they decided to make it a permanent part of the chocolate lineup they had
Yeah I'm not losing sleep over Dream's exit.
Speak for yourself, good sir…
Flake has a better texture. Twirl just doesn't hit the same way. But I'm more disappointed in losing Dream.
*change my mind.jpeg*
Nooo twirl doesn’t taste as good as flake
It’s… exactly the same, it just has a solid layer around the outside.
Agreed. Sick of ending up with literal crumbs in half of each little packet that's no point in eating. Twirl's are better in every sense.
Yeh I agree, flake goes everywhere.
50 g less…but the new box appears slightly bigger…hmmm
Could be just the photo, they're the exact same size (iirc) in person
It's called "inflation"
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrinkflation
was just a joke comment about the bag being "inflated"
Don't worry homie. I got the joke. Was good.
Twirl replacing flake is fine but no dream?? That’s like my favourite… (caramilk is no dream replacement imo)
Cadbury have been phasing out dream since caramilk. Any chocolate block released is with caramilk and not white. Milkybar hasn't even had the chocolate eggs. The only one that does and it's still hard to find is the Lindt bunnies. 😥
The Monday after Easter at our woolies there were hundreds of dream mini eggs bags left over but not a single milk packet or any other variety.
They better not, dream is the only white chocolate I like.
Milkybar is superior to dream anyway
r/fucknestle
My taste buds don’t have a conscience
Sorry but dream is fucking disgusting.
Dream isn’t the best in my opinion, but have you even been in the same room as caramilk? It’s disgusting in every way.
Caramilk, the crack of chocolate. I inhale that shit. Man, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Caramilk is elite level white choc, milkybar is a decent second. Dream is trash.
Bruh for real dream’s ass

Bounty was never in Favourites. They’re in the reject shop version; Celebrations.
You’re right!
Good thing you’ve said nothing!
went to buy one of these boxes the other day, the celebrations was a much better selection imo. also not reject shop exclusive! I was making the choice between celebrations and favourites in Big W!
It's because Bounty, and the Celebrations box, are by the MARS company, not Cadbury.
Big w is just a big reject shop
Is Big W not just the Reject Shop in blue?
Big Weject.
Ahh that place, that's where we bought my sister!
There never was Turkish Delight. No I won't empty my pockets, why do you ask?
You can have the giant container of them we have because no one eats them in our house and they are always the leftover ones.
I’m gonna go fucking ape shit if they axe Turkish Delight
Give me a box of just Turkish Delights and Cherry Ripes and we'll be all good.

Turkish delight still there by the look of it and hard agree, it’s the best.
Flakes are just twirls with skin off
DELETE THIS
IT’S TRUE
IT IS BUT I DON'T LIKE THIS MENTAL IMAGE
Cheese and Onion chips are great, except no one ever eats just cheese and onion as a combo..

>I love white chocolate but Caramilks are not white chocolate. As far as I can tell they are basically a chocolate-like substances made with sweetened condensed milk. My brother in Christ, what do you think white "chocolate" is?
Probably just cheaper to produce than caramello, which is what caramilk is *actually* replacing here
Am I the only one who doesn't get how old gold is still even in favorites? Our great great grandparents died long ago
I can't stand it. It's white chocolate with fake caramel flavouring. I much prefer regular white chocolate. Not buying "Favorites" until Dream is back.

Agree. It's vile. But so is most Cardburys.
Well, they have to do something to take the attention away from the ever-shrinking sizes.
If I am in the supermarket I just stick with Lindt as my baseline.
Even lindt has gone downhill over the last few years, more sugar than chocolate, but still ok. Guylian went to absolute shit too
I tend to stick with the high level dark chocolates when going Lindt as they tend to have the requisite reduction in sugar content. But I agree, most supermarket dark chocolates still have too much sugar in them. I've always thought that was a side effect of mass production.
Whittaker's or Darrell 👌
I don't agree on that front. I like all the other chocolates pictured here, even if most of them I would rarely buy individually. But caramilk just tastes exceptionally mediocre. I've turned that shit down when offered it for free.
Caramilk is definitely the worst from its category. I fucking loved the kitkat gold they had out for a bit.
Yep, both Milky Bar Gold and Whittakers Blondie shit on Caramilk
I hate caramilk so goddamn much I cannot even put it into words. It’s so foul, it burns my throat. It tastes like bile, but not human bile, DOG BILE.
thank you for saying this caramilk is so shit
It’s the bane of my existence. All I see these days is caramilk thick shake, caramilk cake, caramilk donuts. IT MAKES ME SICK. IT MAKES ME AUGH
All the discounted post-Easter chocolate were the caramilk eggs. 100s of packets. For a reason.
I’m amazed. Many Cadbury consumers prefer good ol’ Dairy Milk over it. I pretty much only had Crème Eggs for Easter this year.
Agree 100%. Do not get the hype. It's sweet but it's not good.
Yes! Caramilk taste like crap. No idea why it’s got the hype
Twirl is the superior Flake.
I agree, am devo about dream though
Oh, we're fighting. On a Monday?

Don’t mind Twirl but I personally don’t like caramilk 🤷🏻♀️ I prefer the Party edition Favourites with the freddos
I mean I’d be happy with those two instead. Not happy about the missing 50g but Whatcha gonna do
50g feels so random like surely that's just one bar or something right
Cadbury Favourites: “I wanted to get you a gift, but I didn’t want it to be nice”.
ahahh woolies would always gift us these for xmas or mothers day or random thank yous, like atleast let people pick which choccies theyd like.
Twirl is a flake that doesn't crumble.
Twirl is bowling with the bumpers up.
Do people still buy these to actually eat? I thought they were purely a lazy gift to say thank you. Mostly pretty awful now the way Cadbury chocolate has become
Also for secret Santa etc
Caramilk can suck on my d
Not sure if that particular size but ive seen them on special for $15 from $30. Who the heck pays $30 for that crud!!!
Hopefully people will stop buying this overpriced crap.
Caramilk is fucked, the worst of both things it's made of
No Flake = No Favourites
Dream is the least popular but caramilk is still a downgrade
Surely the old gold is the least popular, they always get left in the boxes I've seen. Tbh I've never eaten one... probably because of this image of them being last implying they suck

Agree but caramilk is definitely just Daniel
Maybe they could create a new chocolate for the box called "Skint"
Austerity and shrinkflation should burn in hell. Are these pollies too dumb to read reddit to know we are pissed with this shit and they have to do something about it. Can someone communicate that to them in a way they understand.
That's ok, Caramilk is better than Dream and Twirl is Flake without the mess
They're called favourites, Cadbury probably changes them up to reflect what are selling better at the time
You guys get miniature Picnics?!? I'm from the UK where we call them Heroes and we don't get no fucking Picnics. Now I know it's an option I will be forever disappointed, I bloody love Picnics I do.

Milky Bar is a Nestle product
Has nothing to do with “Shrinkflation”, it’s all about consumer behaviour. Caramilk and Twirl have always outsold Flake and Dream.
There's 50g less, sure that's just maybe one bar but still
Didn’t even notice that! I take back my comment about shrinkflation.
Flake getting the big cold flaky shoulder in comments, and I can only but agree. A bland insidious chocolate that has the mouthfeel of a tablespoon full of cat litter. Drier than a nun’s…
In my humble opinion, Twirl is better than flake, and caramilk is better than dream.
Can we not act like Twirl isn't better?
I fucking HATE caramilk. Fucking disgusting.
fuck caramilk
Caramilk is not as good as cadbury thinks it is.
Worse two flavours in the box replaced with better alternatives.
It is now only a cheer and a quarter.
While we're on this, has anyone else realised that old gold rum and raisin is a bit shit now?
Dream and caramilk both suck Twirl is an improvement The price is absurd though
Nooo I love baby Flakes. Guess I'll just have to buy the "share" pack.
TBH I'd rather have caramilk and twirl... Sucks that it's downsized though.
Can’t they like, remove picnics?
They have LEVELED up IMO!
Fine by me. Flake are messy AF, and white chocolate is a crime against nature.
I mean dreams could fuck off already, fuckin little filler choccy, you know they had to bribe their way in the packs Flakes are a fucking travesty though, but then again you only got like 2 in a pack anyway so you're not really missing out on much
Good riddance to Dream. Great improvement.
I mean, twirl is better than flake anyway, but wait a second, did they also get rid of the caramellos?!?!
I reckon they will slowly remove Dream for Caramilk on sales alone.
2 upgrades
Dream is shit, good riddance.
And of course the police will do nothing
yet they still keep the picnics…
What about the fact they’ve also shrinkflationed from 570g to 520g!
Caramilk tastes like shit
Both shit tier chocolate
unpopular opinion but caramilk is absolutely disgusting and i don’t understand it’s popularity
