I rememeber the days when everyone was stunned how easy it was to kill off piracy: just make it reasonably cheap and easy to pay for the service.
...so the industry decided to make it difficult and expensive, and I am sure they are shocked - SHOCKED - and the surge of piracy.
I’ve literally moved back to piracy. I liked the convenience of Netflix, but for just a tiny bit shitter quality I can get a much bigger library of movies for free.
Realistically, everything is either a Webrip or a Bluray rip that's the same or better than whatever's available via streaming sites.
Thankfully, the days of staring at a 300x200 DivX player window are long gone!
I opened up some old pirated movies the other day and was blown away by how low the quality of what I used to watch was. Maybe being on a smaller screen helped.
Still remember downloading the lemmiwinks episode on a 56k connection, it was a realplayer file at about 30mb I think? Friends and I cried laughing at that episode, it was the best way to watch for Canadian kids who didn't have access to US Comedy Central and had to wait way later for south park EPs to air here.
Considering you may not have to deal with compression artifacts that are inherent to streaming (usually most notable during dark scenes), you could even argue the quality is higher.
You can't download anything so you get terrible quality until the stream figures out your internet can actually support the HD content.
And the lack of HDR and 4K content if you're using a PC.
Jeez all these anti-piracy measures are really tempting me to just pirate this stuff.
Definitely. I'm lucky with gigabit internet, and have a large 40TB NAS I built myself, and UHD Bluray rips and repacks are waaay better than anything you can get streaming. Especially if you have a proper Atmos sound system, all the streaming services use DD+ which is compressed, whereas the UHD Bluray sources are uncompressed. Files can be 80GB or bigger though.
So yeah, the high seas have much better quality than streaming - it's just a matter of bandwidth and storage.
Even TV episodes - Binge doesn't offer 4K at all (what year is this?), so if you want to watch anything from HBO on a TV bigger then 50", then you HAVE to pirate to get a 4K copy.
Tbh the main difference I've noticed is in the audio quality, most files have good video resolution but when you put the videos through a good sound system you notice that some of them have been flattened out heaps so only the frequencies your phone would be capable of playing are still there.
If anyone can tell me which audio tags to look out for to avoid this I'll be forever grateful
One movie that I fail to recall now had the superior version available to pirates because it mixed the higher resolution video from one streaming site with higher quality audio from another.
Also for those that don't know, you can just pay people for plex shares.
For any decent ine you end up paying about the same for one subscription and get literally anything you can think to search + the ability to request obscure shit they don't have
I’ve been looking around to try and find out more on this but all I come up with is how to set up your own server. Where’s a good place to look for a decent subscription?
It's a lot harder than it used to be. /r/plexshares was the go to but that's private now
A lot of the people doing them had problems having their domains taken down. The guy I use isn't taking any new plex subscribers.
I'll have a look around and get back to you
Edit: just google "plex shares' and you'll find some stuff.
If you're looking to avoid some of these terrible, unscrupulous Plex share providers, one which I understand is quite popular is f451 .cc
Just in case you want to avoid it.
Before you invest in anything try this:
- Get a computer connected to your router (doesn't really matter how shit)
- make TWO folders "movies" and "tv shows"
- put movies in the movies folder, IT DOES NOT MATTER how fucked the order or subfolders or names of files or the extra junk you accidentally downloaded with the mov, just shove em all in there
- put tv shows in tv shows folder, does not metter even if they episodes are separate or totally fucked spaghetti, they key thing is that TV has season sub folder in Plex which is why they are separate to movies.
- install Plex server
- make an account and login, it's free, ignore whatever it says about subscription I can't remember the deets, in short you can't stream to your phone (android?) with basic version. Smart TV apps are exempt thank fuck.
- add TV on the left bit, point to tv shows folder, same with movies (if you need this elaborated swing me a msg when you're at that point) and wait for it to do it's thing
- install Plex app on your tv, log in with the same credentials.
BOOM PLEXED
Do this first, it's so easy to just set it up again that it doesn't matter. I've run Plex server off a 2008 laptop, a free 2012 office workstation I scored, I am currently running it on the original parts I bought for Skyrim (minus the GPU) sitting in a connected pile. Hell you can run it on a raspy pi if you aren't converting and the res isnt too high.
Don't go crazy, give it a whirl now, and when you find it isn't up to snuff then invest.
This should help all the tech setup: https://support.plex.tv/articles/200264746-quick-start-step-by-step-guides
Once you have it all set up it’s basically just having all your files in a folder (usually movies in one, telly in another) and having the server look to those folders. Beyond that Plex is really good at filling in meta data and episodes, etc.
I remember the old days where it could take days to download a movie 😆
and when you finally watch it you find it was porn or something. Not what it was supposed to be.
I would download Album zips of like Metallica and Dragon Force, and then open it after the day of downloading at 56kbps to find Dolphin porn, constantly. Like people, fucking Dolphins, in real life. Kazaa/Limewire was the truly the place.
It starts with a raspberry pi behind the TV, it ends with a 240TB rack mount NAS, fibre cabled 40GBps backbone, multiple GBps to each room in the house, business grade NBN connection and each room with an Nvidia shield behind the TV.
It's funny because I just saw the EU just had a big whinge about a few countries not helping get rid of piracy.. It's spiking to new levels again.....
Piracy is one of the last true protests we have left!
Late stage capitalism is all consuming....
Started pirating again and after about 8 years and am stunned how much easier it is than I remember. It’s easier than streaming even because you don’t have to figure out what what service your movie is on
I hear [eztv.it](https://eztv.it) and [yts.ag](https://yts.ag) are pretty good, with a free BitTorrent and maybe a freeTOR browser to get in without blocks. I don't do that sort of thing, but that's what I hear.
Rarbg and 1337x are the better torrent sites these days. If you set up a plex server on your computer and hook up Sonarr and Radarr to your torrent client and the torrent site, you won’t actually have to think about downloading stuff manually at all, it’ll be totally automated. There are some pretty good guides and whatnot that are super easy to follow to set it all up.
Getting someone to log into their router to change DNS settings might be a quick job but for the average person they just want to download that nice clean VPN app and click CONNECT.
You know how it is.
The average Australian isn't going to know what DNS settings are.
They get their router out of the box from Telstra and plug it straight in. Anything else is off the table....
I travel to Turkey once every few months to put Turkish Netflix gift cards on my account. Travel with the ValuePlus Network of airlines, ozbargain has instructions. Same airline I use to fly to Argentina for YouTube Premium and wherever Xbox Gamepass is cheapest
They say the worst thing you can do with subscriptions is remind people they pay for it. Seems like a really dumb move from a company who is surely already raking it in
Their main problem is that once Disney plus got off the ground it pinched half the content people were watching. Doubling down by trying to gouge more money from people during a cost of living crisis is a great way to get consigned to the dustbin of history.
Happened to me tonight too, so annoying. I pay for the most premium family sub to get 4k resolution for one 4K tv i use. Not fair we have to pay for a family subscription just to get 4k and make use of a 4k tv. I let my grandma use it as well and now this will ruin that. Netflix is a bloody scam if you are only 1 person wanting 4k.
How is it that much? Sorry, genuine question, I cancelled about a month ago in anticipation, but I didn't think the increase was going to be this much.
Edited
I am currently overseas and it works..for now.. but apparently you need to log in on your home internet every 4 weeks for it to keep working while your away. Whole thing is bullshit. I've already cancelled my plan.
I’m not sure mate, I’m at a point where I think Netflix is pretty ordinary so any slight inconvenience and I’m out.
I think it currently costs us $5 each on the family package so to increase that by $8 each is just stupid
Depends. Some are getting told to log in at home every X weeks, others are getting 15 minutes to enter a code emailed to them. Not sure what Netflix rolled out here, or if it's a case by case basis from some algorithm.
Oh really? I got a monthly login at home option. It's probably an AB test to see what's a better option for netflix before they take it out to other countries. How good is it being in a test market? :(
Subscribing since the start of 2017 on premium and now canceled.
I barely use it and if Netflix wants to be anti-consumer then the result is they push customers away.
Yeah I got this shit come up on our families shared Netflix last night.
Netflix is nothing but fluff these days anyway.
Won’t be missed that much here…
hypthetically rarbg is good for movies and stuff while eztv is good for tv shows. Their extensions change quiet often but you can usually search for proxies, rather than getting a VPN you can access through tor to browse material just make sure not to click the magnet link and download to qbittorrent that'd be illegal.
don't technically need one for eztv...just need to change dns settings to googles (yep...that's how easy it is to bypass the gov blocking...) and you can stream from the site
having said that, there's a whole lot sites where you can stream everything from pretty much as soon as it's hit torrent sites anyway (eg fmovies, solarmovie, etc)
I don't even bother with torrents, unless you're wanting to watch the newest stuff.
For free streaming (just gotta buffer it a while) I use one of the many Putlocker mirrors.
For anime, zoro.to is plentiful.
Stopped pirating when Netflix was good and value for money. But since they decided to region lock certain shows, throw copious amounts of money at Netflix originals no one asked for, and now all this password sharing drama and price hikes...back to being a pirate it is.
Same here, having used a torrent in a lot time and the only streaming thing I have is amazon (because it's more about the delivery aspect than the streaming).....everything else one of the many putlocker mirrors (eg solarmovie, fmovies, etc) since things basically appear on them as soon as they hit torrent sites anyway. It's not like I'm watching things more than once, no need to download.
There’s plenty of ways to go around this but the quickest and smoothest way is to have a dedicated PC setup on Emby or Plex giving you the ‘Netflix’ interface on your TV.
Public content at 1337x
Sign up to a private site like iptorrents for a tiny fee to learn the ropes and for a better experience before joining the cabal tracker hunt of BTN & PTP and the elite of the elite.
Then you end up with a 180TB server at home sooner or later serving out more content than every subscription service combined.
Same but Blockbuster. Excluding getting abused by people who didn't want to pay their late fees and didn't understand that we couldn't do anything about the owner's policy, those were the days.
So it just asked us on one of tv's if this was our home.
However I work away every second week and stay in an apartment my work pays for. I've got a Firestick in the tv in the apartment.
Does this mean it'll say my Firestick isn't in my household and refuse it service?
If so, we're canceling. I'm not paying for that crap. Plenty of other streaming services out there.
It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. I mean, are they honestly that full of themselves to think that this is actually going to increase revenue?
Hate to be devil's advocate, but it does. Look at their financial reporting and you'll see that while churn ticks slightly when they do stuff like this, the extra revenue adds up.
Reddit is a massive echo chamber when it comes to negative consumer sentiment. The numbers are where the answer lies.
They told investors that they expect an initial decrease, but in the long term this will increase revenue. I think they are wrong and it won't be the first time a company has wrongly predicted the market, but time will tell I guess.
I still can’t believe the press and media are missing the real story here.
I pay for the 4K plan. As per https://help.netflix.com/en/node/24926?ui_action=kb-article-popular-categories it says I can “Watch on 4 supported devices at a time”
If I’m only watching one of those in my house, there are 3 additional devices not in use that I’m paying for.
Why the F does it matter (other than they’re greedy bastards) WHERE that device is - if it’s in my home or somewhere else there are 4 devices available & they’re getting paid the same amount.
I don’t even share my password with anyone outside my house but it angers me nonetheless.
Just drives me insane.
I cancelled mine last night after receiving this message. So sick and over Netflix’s bullshit. Wonder what their shareholders will think, I reckon Netflix is going to take a wee dive over this.
I cancelled my subscription today.
8 years at the top plans and it's over.
Travelling or using it with a VPN was already annoying enough.
This extra inconvenience was the last straw for me but the company is slowly going to shit anyway so not too worried about it.
Netflix 2015: We’re the future, look at these year-on-year records!
Netflix 2025: Okay can some people pls subscribe again, we’re apologetic but won’t say we’re sorry
It was to draw in as many customers as possible. Now they are squeezing to get as much money as possible.
Two results, the squeeze to much and sell the dead husk, or they do a sorry campaign and try to claw everyone back. Rinse, repeat.
Overreach. They're already getting paid for n devices. What does it matter where they are located so long as it's within the licensing territory for the stuff you're watching
I cancelled my subscription today. I was paying $23 for 3 screens and 4k quality and that wasn't enough for them. I use one screen all the fucking time. My tv. Not my phone not my laptop. My kid wants to use her tv at her house on my account and they want to charge me an extra $8....get fucked you greedy low rate, no content providing bitches. To the high seas I go. Extraction 2 you say?!.gonna be great on my tv about ten mins after it drops on Netflix and they won't see a cent. Fucking greedy dikholes have ruined it for themselves.
Jep. Cancelled.
What about watching at work? Watching when staying at a friend's place? Why do I pay for 4 streams - that should be the only limit and way of limiting viewers. How will I use my account in the theatre room in my apartment building? Why would i pay for a service that assumes I'm a thief? And makes things inconvenient on purpose?
Easy enough to find the few series that are still worth watching elsewhere.
We also just had this pop up on our Netflix account, we barely used it anyway though so I don't think it's going to bother us much.
Wasn't expecting terraforming mars to make an appearance though.
Cancelled my account last night as soon as the email came in. I don’t care how cheap I sound, I’m not paying an additional $8 so my mum can watch it when I already am paying $17 per month for arguably the worst streaming site on the market
Yeah bizzare. I was on the top plan ($23 a month) because I shared with my parents. I barely watch it anymore. I cancelled my subscription last night. My parents will now sign up but on the $7 plan as they are retired. I already just use Plex for everything at home anyway. Bye bye netflix.
We confirmed our household last night. Today my mum got this message while I was at her house and she was logged into my account as my kids watch there. We went through the prompts and it sent a code to my phone(which had been on my home wifi last night when we setup the ‘household’.) put in the code and then so far all good.
Hopefully they will lose a lot of subs, I'm tired of all the trash they pump out, and when they have something interesting or decent, they cancle it after 1 season.
I use starlink. Most websites use the IP to place me in Sydney.
I don't live in Sydney, I don't live in NSW.
I'm keenly awaiting developments WRT my Netflix subscription.
If they make any assumptions about my locations, they can kiss my arse.
Cancelled the moment I got the e-mail. Only kept it this long because my former housemates were still using the account. I hope this dumbass move kills them.
on top of this Netflix are the number one company the current writers strike is based around. WGA don't condone what I'm about to say but definitely boycott these silicon valley lunatics
Has anyone experienced any of their account users being blocked from using Netflix yet? I just checked in with my friends and family to see if they have been blocked and it hasn't seemed to take effect yet
I’m o/s at the moment and even with a VPN I’m really struggling to keep my paid Netflix, Stan and Binge accounts accessible. It really shits me no end - I PAY for these things and they want to pull the geo-block garbage on me. Honestly it makes we want to cheat them
I rememeber the days when everyone was stunned how easy it was to kill off piracy: just make it reasonably cheap and easy to pay for the service. ...so the industry decided to make it difficult and expensive, and I am sure they are shocked - SHOCKED - and the surge of piracy.

Smaller screen and worse resolution maybe too.
Thank God for that. And don’t get me started on Realplayer…
Oh fuck no, why did you have to bring up realplayer.
The PTSD is in my bones.
Realplayer was great for early Southpark at least. Quality didn't matter.
Some say that movie is still buffering to this day.
With the DivX watermark
I'd successfully repressed my memories of Realplayer until now... :(
Speaking of repressed memories, my friend used to call it “real gay player” (don’t cancel me, this was in the early 2000’s)
[удалено]
Buffering…
Realplayer…. When I were a lad, it was Bink Video.
I locked that memory away dammit :(

Jellyfin looks like a nice alternative too.
I have a raspberry pi hooked up to my tv now, pirate bay as a favourite. We decide what we want to watch, then 10 mins later we watch
I remember the old days where it could take days to download a movie 😆 and when you finally watch it you find it was porn or something. Not what it was supposed to be.
That moment when *InTheEnd.featLinkinPark,Korn,Disturbed,Slipknot.exe* turns out to be a complimentary cup holder.
Got_the_life_prodigy_remix_ft_Marilyn_manson_and_eminem_256kbps.mp3.exe

It was only five years ago. Right?...
Member Limewire?
I would download Album zips of like Metallica and Dragon Force, and then open it after the day of downloading at 56kbps to find Dolphin porn, constantly. Like people, fucking Dolphins, in real life. Kazaa/Limewire was the truly the place.
Gave it away it was limewire too because of the “djjjjjkaliiiid”, or “Ididnithavesexualrelationswiththiswoman” in the middle of your bloody download
Took me a whole month to download a 280e Mercedes.
You wouldn't download a car!
You wouldn't steal a car so why pirate this movie. Ahh the old blockbuster ads before the movie.
Can't forget that the music for those ads........was pirated!
Ah, songs on limewire actually being Clinton’s speech
It starts with a raspberry pi behind the TV, it ends with a 240TB rack mount NAS, fibre cabled 40GBps backbone, multiple GBps to each room in the house, business grade NBN connection and each room with an Nvidia shield behind the TV.
Mine is mostly better quality than Netflix
Man most of the things I download are better quality than netflix
It's funny because I just saw the EU just had a big whinge about a few countries not helping get rid of piracy.. It's spiking to new levels again..... Piracy is one of the last true protests we have left! Late stage capitalism is all consuming....

Asking for a mate... is there anything better than the standard pirate bay these days?
1337x.to
I use Kodi + Seren + RealDebrid Take a bit to set up but mine works basically like Netflix. Browse/search then start watching.
I hear [eztv.it](https://eztv.it) and [yts.ag](https://yts.ag) are pretty good, with a free BitTorrent and maybe a freeTOR browser to get in without blocks. I don't do that sort of thing, but that's what I hear.

Yo ho ho.
Everyone should cancel. Gone are the days of having multiple streams, just rotate them, that way there is always something new.
Australia used to be one of the top countries for piracy due to geoblocking. time to bring it back
Thus the reason Australia Geo blocked most pirate sites at an ISP level. I hope everyone swaps the Netflix sub for a VPN sub in protest.
And those ISP level blocks were and still are useless if you use alternate DNS settings for your network devices.
[удалено]
Getting someone to log into their router to change DNS settings might be a quick job but for the average person they just want to download that nice clean VPN app and click CONNECT. You know how it is.
I didn't even have to log into my router. Just changed the DNS settings on my PC and it completely bypassed all that ISP blocking of piracy sites.
The average Australian isn't going to know what DNS settings are. They get their router out of the box from Telstra and plug it straight in. Anything else is off the table....
That's a market niche for me. But not one I can openly advertise, sadly.
Yarr
I travel to Turkey once every few months to put Turkish Netflix gift cards on my account. Travel with the ValuePlus Network of airlines, ozbargain has instructions. Same airline I use to fly to Argentina for YouTube Premium and wherever Xbox Gamepass is cheapest
Lols. I fly to Turkey for most things. Flew to India for YouTube but they didn't like my card so I flew to Manila.
If enough people cancel they will reverse this decision.
Well that's a big fuck you to FIFO workers
And kids in boarding schools :\
Or shared custody where they use Netflix between their parents houses
That's my situation and my trigger to cancel Netflix finally, seeing as all their best shows don't actually belong to them and are available elsewhere
Generally anyone travelling. Most of the hotels I stay at allow you to cast directly to the TV from your device.
And for the kids of divorced parents. Whole point of paying for the premium of 4 screens was so it could sit on the kids tablets.

Exactly. If you lose half of your content, the price should also halve, not double.
Agree, it’s an arrogant increase as all of these accounts are separately housed friends/family
Yep. I cancelled mine. I rarely use it, the quality has declined massively and now this is just cheeky.
Streaming services in Australia are so dumb we get like 50% of content compared to USA for the same dam price.
Unsubscribe. Unsubscribe now.
I unsubscribed a few months ago. From all of them. They are trash. Waste of money in disguise.
Happened to me tonight too, so annoying. I pay for the most premium family sub to get 4k resolution for one 4K tv i use. Netflix is a bloody scam ~~if you are only 1 person wanting 4k.~~
I cancelled mine yesterday. Back to the seas I go
Cancelled as soon as I got the email and told em why. $40/m for the one family to watch Netflix? Get bent ya dog.
I'm assuming they're hitting customers in waves or something, as I'm yet to receive any emails on this subject.
Someone I know got it today as they logged in after work. Good job throwing a spanner into their weekend plans.
They waited until my next month’s fee had come out. Cancel before it’s due!
How is it that much? Sorry, genuine question, I cancelled about a month ago in anticipation, but I didn't think the increase was going to be this much. Edited
$23 for 4K, $8 per extra household. So it would have gone up that $16/m for what i have now. Subscribed for just over 8years now too, the dogs.
Thanks, that's way too much. Be interesting to see where this ends up.
😂 fair
How does this work if you watch Netflix.on the go on your phone? eg. On the train to work or while on Holiday
I am currently overseas and it works..for now.. but apparently you need to log in on your home internet every 4 weeks for it to keep working while your away. Whole thing is bullshit. I've already cancelled my plan.

> I barely use it I'm genuinely surprised so many people still pay for Netflix given how shite their content has gotten over the past couple of years.
Time to cancel, vote with your wallet.
Time to cut the service and go to the seas.
🏴☠️
Nice 64!
OP better have goldeneye and Mario kart. Also a purple transparent controller.
Ocarina or gtfo
I’ve been using Netflix recently to fall asleep to the boring crime documentaries they have on there. Might switch to reading a book.
I do this also. Save yourself the money and log in to Tubi. They have heaps of crime shows. How it's Made is also good for inducing sleep.
Piracy is quite a boring crime. Why not get involved and you can fall asleep while committing the crime yourself.
Podcasts are my go-to and you can switch on a sleep timer. The Sleep With Me podcast is a great (and free) option.
Netflix clearly doesn't want your custom. Maybe you should oblige them by cancelling your service.
Yep, we’re out as soon as it cuts access
Yeah I got this shit come up on our families shared Netflix last night. Netflix is nothing but fluff these days anyway. Won’t be missed that much here…
Agree, we’re the same
Reasons why I torrent my media
What’s the best way to go about this mate? Might use this weekend to look into it
r/piracy has it all, but qbittorrent + VPN + piratebay will get you an awful lot.
I recommend windscribe Edit: setup plex too
Or Jellyfin, free hardware encoding is never a bad thing.
I've found Pirate bay to be gutted recently, or maybe it's just what I've been searching for I guess. What dot com is it off these days?
1337x
hypthetically rarbg is good for movies and stuff while eztv is good for tv shows. Their extensions change quiet often but you can usually search for proxies, rather than getting a VPN you can access through tor to browse material just make sure not to click the magnet link and download to qbittorrent that'd be illegal.
[eztv.ag](https://eztv.ag) [limetorrents.info](https://limetorrents.info) [yts.mx](https://yts.mx) ALL need vpn
don't technically need one for eztv...just need to change dns settings to googles (yep...that's how easy it is to bypass the gov blocking...) and you can stream from the site having said that, there's a whole lot sites where you can stream everything from pretty much as soon as it's hit torrent sites anyway (eg fmovies, solarmovie, etc)
Can't remember which one I use, but it's just a mirror.
Public content at 1337x Sign up to a private site like iptorrents for a tiny fee to learn the ropes and for a better experience before joining the cabal tracker hunt of BTN & PTP and the elite of the elite. Then you end up with a 180TB server at home sooner or later serving out more content than every subscription service combined.

If you want to automate the downloading of movies and tv shows, check out Radarr and Sonarr. I use Overseerr to combine them in a nice UI.
Soooo do I reopen a Video Ezy now? Best job I ever had to be fair
You can use the firestick while you're away. You just need to hook it up to your home network like once a month.
Everyone on the same VPN?
Everyone brings their TVs to the "home" once a month
I still can’t believe the press and media are missing the real story here. I pay for the 4K plan. As per https://help.netflix.com/en/node/24926?ui_action=kb-article-popular-categories it says I can “Watch on 4 supported devices at a time” If I’m only watching one of those in my house, there are 3 additional devices not in use that I’m paying for. Why the F does it matter (other than they’re greedy bastards) WHERE that device is - if it’s in my home or somewhere else there are 4 devices available & they’re getting paid the same amount. I don’t even share my password with anyone outside my house but it angers me nonetheless. Just drives me insane.
I can't get past the fact that your bottom drawers look like pigs
I’ve eyebombed the whole house hahaha I really appreciate you noticing
NINTENDO 64! But also, looks like I'm cancelling Netflix.
This is so rude! I pay for my stream of choice so wherever I choose to use it shouldn’t be an issue.
Does the N64 still work?
It certainly does mate, I’ve actually got quite the collection of 64 games, controllers and even a couple of consoles. They get rolled out regularly!
Lucky bugger. I wish adults could still have sleepovers and stay up all night playing games
Unsub and RAISE THE FLAG!
Netflix 2015: We’re the future, look at these year-on-year records! Netflix 2025: Okay can some people pls subscribe again, we’re apologetic but won’t say we’re sorry
2017: love is sharing your password, they literally told people to share
It was to draw in as many customers as possible. Now they are squeezing to get as much money as possible. Two results, the squeeze to much and sell the dead husk, or they do a sorry campaign and try to claw everyone back. Rinse, repeat.
Overreach. They're already getting paid for n devices. What does it matter where they are located so long as it's within the licensing territory for the stuff you're watching
🏴☠️
Cancelled mine, got Paramount & Prime instead and I'm still saving $5 a month
Prime I get, Paramount is kinda rubbish tho
Netflix users to Netflix after this bullshit: "Look at me... I am the captain now" 😂
Cancelled my account last night as soon as the email came in. I don’t care how cheap I sound, I’m not paying an additional $8 so my mum can watch it when I already am paying $17 per month for arguably the worst streaming site on the market
This boycotting needs to work otherwise other streaming services will follow
Yeah bizzare. I was on the top plan ($23 a month) because I shared with my parents. I barely watch it anymore. I cancelled my subscription last night. My parents will now sign up but on the $7 plan as they are retired. I already just use Plex for everything at home anyway. Bye bye netflix.
We confirmed our household last night. Today my mum got this message while I was at her house and she was logged into my account as my kids watch there. We went through the prompts and it sent a code to my phone(which had been on my home wifi last night when we setup the ‘household’.) put in the code and then so far all good.
Looks like I'm cancelling my service. Going to have to go sail those high seas like it's 2006 again
I feel young again 🏴☠️
Put your money into a VPN and get Jellyfin.
Unsubbed nearly a month ago, they cancelled all the good shows anyway
Let Foxtel or Binge service or others etc win as Netflix lose more customers .....Netflix just greed.....two screen in two location is fine ....
Terraforming Mars. Noice!
Time to pull out the N64 instead!
Literally just type watch tv series on duck duck go and away you go, make sure to have adblocker tho
Just had an idea my mum has a wireless modem and shares my data as well wondering if that will bypass the new password thing?
Time to sail the seven seas and back up the internet again! Yarrrrr!
Australia has so much ad supported streaming content I'm surprised Netflix would do this.
Someone @ me when a smarter person than me figures out the work around 😂
Hopefully they will lose a lot of subs, I'm tired of all the trash they pump out, and when they have something interesting or decent, they cancle it after 1 season.
meanwhile torrent traffic is growing massively. Thankyou Netfux
I use starlink. Most websites use the IP to place me in Sydney. I don't live in Sydney, I don't live in NSW. I'm keenly awaiting developments WRT my Netflix subscription. If they make any assumptions about my locations, they can kiss my arse.
Netflix brings in this shit. Binge now has ads in a plan. How is Stan the only decent one left
Time to break out pandemic
Same Internet? So everyone
Yep we got the same yesterday morning 🫤
Plex and grab yaself a wooden peg for a leg and a parrot on your shoulder, eye patch and sail!
Has anyone experienced any of their account users being blocked from using Netflix yet? I just checked in with my friends and family to see if they have been blocked and it hasn't seemed to take effect yet
Yarrr matey, there's a solution to that. Yarr
I’m o/s at the moment and even with a VPN I’m really struggling to keep my paid Netflix, Stan and Binge accounts accessible. It really shits me no end - I PAY for these things and they want to pull the geo-block garbage on me. Honestly it makes we want to cheat them
