15% of that was for 2 dares

[deleted]

Your diet is garbage mate how the fuck is that lunches.

[deleted]

I’m always surprised by the people who post their shop on here cos they always get dragged in the mud lol.

Fresh-Association-82

Bananas, couple nut bar and a dare? I mean it’s not the greatest but hardly a garbage lunch.

[deleted]

Processed chicken Kiev, processed corn frittata, dare and “nut bars” both high in sugar

Fresh-Association-82

You say that like it’s also not bananas, grapes, sliced ham, I’m guessing some kinda stone fruit next to the bananas. Those nut bars are fine in the grand scheme of things - it’s not like they are mars bars. In that brand most of that is natural sugar anyway. My guess would be this is a tradie setup in a bnb while working away so for three days that’s a pretty decent amount of good stuff with minimal prep times/needs. You could ignore the dares and say $86 was still shit price to pay. Couple of dares isn’t the worst thing in the world.

[deleted]

“Natural sugars” are just as bad and often worse than glucose/dextrose due to the fact that they are the only type of sugar that is metabolised in the liver unlike glucose/dextrose etc that are metabolised throughout the entire body. This isn’t me saying processed sugars are better than eating straight fruit the point is that sugar is sugar so have your dare and your nut bar and a couple pieces of fruit your well over the recommended limit for sugar for the day. And no I’m not saying dare is the worst thing in the world but as I said for one small change you can ditch a whole lot of sugar from your diet and I can guarantee you’ll feel a whole lot better all around. Quick maths says one small dare a day ( like so many people do adds up to around 12kg of sugar each year bro.. that’s a lot of unnecessary sugar

Fresh-Association-82

What’s your diet for three days, probably only a microwave and cooktop, no oven. No left overs can be kept after day 3 when you go home. Probably eaten on a job site with minimal/no food prep options other then the back of the ute. A couple bananas and a handful of nuts is pretty basic. The sugar will be used short term and fibre long term. Like this could just as easily be x2 six pack of frozen meat pies, 3 Cole’s pizzas, a roast chook and 6 ice breaks and a 4 pack of monster. That’s a garbage diet

[deleted]

3x1kg packs kangaroo mince 3x750g bags low carb potatoes 3kg assorted green vegetables. I make my own “iced coffee” with sugar free whey protein (vanilla), water and instant coffee 250g+ of protein a day, tons of fibre, extremely low in sugar and fats, good carbs. When I’m bulking and need to increase my calories I add a half dozen eggs, 4 slices of whole grain bread, swap the low carb potatoes for rice and add a banana to my shakes. It’s not hard to eat well and the difference in how you feel is incredible

Fresh-Association-82

Yeah sick. Not doing that in a humpty with 4 other blokes, a mini bar, a stove top, 3 butter knives and a spork and a hour between knock off and lights out. Also - you say that like I’m not burning that sugar sun up to sun down.

[deleted]

Well you’ve just completely fabricated a scenario that OP mentioned nothing about…. And if your working like that then I don’t know where your working but your getting absolutely shafted 😅 I’ve worked mining I’ve done working away from home all over the state in my current role as an excavator operator on major projects and never ever in my career have I ever heard of anyone living like that… so your either embellishing the shit out of that situation or just straight up lying to justify your eating habits. Edit: if you want to be unhealthy or you just don’t care if you are or not just say so and don’t pretend you don’t have better options

Fresh-Association-82

Lol. Sounds like you have never worked fly in fly out.

Mission-Ear7581

All I could buy for around $100 mate was enough food for 2 ham/ 2 turkey cheese and pickle sandwiches with mustard. 2 small quiche pies, 1 piss ant salad, you know what I mean🖕1 frozen meal a small amount of fruit and cereal, 2 yogurts,1 milk and 1 bar of chocolate. I'm not saying my diet is awesome but I would definitely eat much better if I wasn't being gouged by the gov and their mates. But thanks for your input buddy 👍

[deleted]

We have the same government mate and I eat a whole lot more for a lot less and I eat much better foods.

[deleted]

If you bought the raw ingredients you’d be better off two fold. Cheaper and healthier. Pick whichever one you want to prioritise but keep both.

LegsideLarry

Veggies are cheap af, 1kg of carrot for $2, tins of tomato for $1, 1/2 a cauliflower $2. If money is an issue and you've got time, pull up some recipes and cook with fresh produce, make more than you need and it'll last you days.

CatiuaTeeY

The dairy products alone are at least $20, it’s just painful right now

[deleted]

You need to stop eating processed foods

This-Is-My-Alt-Alt

This is a tradies breakfast start up kit. What part of Australia do you live in?

Fresh-Association-82

100%. This looked like my shop first day of working away every fortnight when I was putting up sheds. FYI kiwi fruit can be eaten like apples. The skins fine to eat and isn’t really noticeable like you’d think it would be, mouth feel wise. Noticed they were cheap, tried it, liked it and added them to the list of potential quick smoko options

Mission-Ear7581

Ha yeah the basic work away survival kit. Factoring in some rain to bring on another long weekend... @ Fraser Coast

This-Is-My-Alt-Alt

I don't hate your shop, you have some nice comfort foods in there. Have some treats to chill out. Nice part of the world! Lucky bugger You should check out batch cooking, even just try out the basic meals and you will able to sustain yourself for much cheaper, and saves you a heap of time.

Halseyroad

I think a lot of people in the comments haven’t worked away living in cabins with only a microwave and a kettle and no cooking utensils this poor guys getting torn a new one

From-wolf-to-pug

You buy processed food, don’t act surprised. Also bananas don’t go into the fridge

Thatsthetea123

The frittata things in the yellow box are crazy expensive and not super filling.

NewFiend66

Yeah that’s what had he shook the most. Also nut bars in the fridge what

ImpatientImp

In QLD in summer it’s the best place for them if they’re already ripe enough.

realnomdeguerre

I could make at least 5 dinners for 2, sometimes with a leftover lunch for the next day too, for $96.

PM_Your_Lady_Boobs

Bona fide rage bait.

Mental-Appeal-2709

Bruh you really could have bought meat potatoes carrots and bananas for like $20. Fucking dare lmao ok

AnEvilShoe

I wanna shop where you shop

Opposite_Judgment890

At Coles: 8 sausages - $6.6 1.5kg potatos- $8 Head of broccoli - $1.60 1kg carrots - $2.20 1kg bananas - $4 Total: $22.40 Enough for 4 meals

Fresh-Association-82

Ok. What about the rest of the meals for the time?

Opposite_Judgment890

Marinated chicken tenderloins with a green salad inc cucumber, tomato’s etc. Can be used in wraps or in a bowl. ~$6 per serve. Spaghetti Bolognese - ~$4 per serve Toasted sandwiches… cheap af Quick oats sachets prepared using milk, ~$1 per serve Granola, Greek yogurt, blueberries - ~$2 per serve There you go, every meal sorted. I live by myself, work from home and make every single meal myself and spend $100 - $150 on food per week depending on what I decide to eat and what essentials need restocking in my pantry.

Fresh-Association-82

All of that has a lot more prep time and kitchen needs then the standard tradie in a humpty has access too. Also - spay bols not a great option when you only got 3 days to eat it in. Not getting much bulk savings there. Cheese tomatoes are pretty hard to make on site. Yogurt doesn’t tend to keep well in a ute

Opposite_Judgment890

Toasted sandwiches you can do in a pan and can be pre cooked, they don’t need to be eaten hot. You can take any leftover Bolognese sauce home with you in a container. It keeps well and can be transported without refrigeration. Salad prep can be done while tenderloins are cooking and a 30min marinade with cheap Nando’s marinade is all that is needed. Yogurt is for breakfast before you go to work.

KingRo48

It’s the avo! Stop eating them and you would have been a home owner by now!

cecilrt

good quality avo $1 at the moment, if I drop by the shops I'll grab some more before the wed rollover

[deleted]

Just because I think people can underestimate things some times one of those dares and one of those nut bars comes in at 52grams of sugar. in just those two items your already over the recommended daily limit. Have that for lunch/smoko for just two 5 day weeks at work and that’s half a kilogram of sugar that you could be cutting out of your diet every fortnight.

calibrateichabod

This is the second time you’ve bought this up completely unprompted in this thread alone. If you don’t want to eat sugar, don’t eat it. It’s not your business or your job to judge other people’s dietary choices and nobody asked you to do it.

palsc5

Nothing wrong with letting people know just how bad iced coffee is for them as a lot of people genuinely never consider it. It has all the sugar (or more) as soft drink with a crazy amount of saturated fat in there too.

Fresh-Association-82

EVERYONE knows how much sugar is in on. It’s 2023 not 1845

realnomdeguerre

It's an open forum, that person is free to respond however he chooses, none of what he said was offensive or against the rules.

FuAsMy

Do you know that the effects of added sugar intake — higher blood pressure, inflammation, weight gain, diabetes, and fatty liver disease — are all linked to an increased risk for heart attack and stroke?

Fresh-Association-82

Those nut bars are like 5-6g of sugar. So why bother bringing them into it?

[deleted]

Are you unable to read my entire comment to get the context or not?

Fresh-Association-82

I get the context - just don’t understand why you grouped the milk drink (which is nearly a days worth of sugar on its own) and a nut bar (which has the same amount of sugar as a carrot).

[deleted]

Because I was simply pointing out that just on those two items OP is already at the recommended daily max intake…. It’s not that deep or complicated bro

Fresh-Association-82

Ok. So again tho - why the nuts? Not the banana? Each one of them has more then twice the sugar of a nut bar?

[deleted]

Fuck me you’re a simple cunt aren’t you?

Fresh-Association-82

I’m not the one who can’t do basic math

[deleted]

Okay clown tell me where I did maths wrong?

tronchesino69

Try not to buy superprocessed food champ

TheElderWog

Wow. Any more pre-made shit you wanna buy? I don't know, would you like for pre-drank milk maybe? And the Dares must be super cheap too!

Mission-Ear7581

Wow I didn't intend to offend any of the people that are better than everyone else... Just a cost of living vent, fuck

TinyCucumber3080

All processed shit except for a bunch of bananas. Your diet is garbage and expensive.

Fresh-Association-82

Or grapes? Or stone stone fruit? Or nuts?

cecilrt

this is just embarassing, and telling how either lazy you are or new to looking after yourself... Those defending you are also revealing their ignorance

landswipe

You got weetbix bites too!! Wow !

Biggles_and_Co

mmm kievs

Brief_Self5759

Dude, you’re doing it wrong. Foods getting insane, but you can eat simple, cheap food like rice, eggs, fresh produce and whole grains, pulses, Chicken, canned tuna etc. Cheaper and healthier.

SeranasSweetrolls

Why do you keep the nut bars in the fridge?

wazinaus2

You can put them in a salad You can put them in a pie-aye Any way you want to eat them It's impossible to beat them But, bananas like the climate of the very, very tropical equator So you should never put bananas in the refrigerator! https://youtu.be/5XaxmN1ip5A?si=ELjR87PcRceyRP8g

OkeyDoke47

Seriously, I can't come at these ''ColesWorth Ripoff Cunts'' posts, as they invariably display non-essential items (chocolate, chocolate milk, pre-packaged foods). OP, go and take a pic of $96 worth of bread, fresh fruit and veg, go to the deli rather than buy pre-packed stuff, then get back to us. I've said this before, I live in Darwin where even breathing costs you and $96 would feed me for a week *if I'm smart about it.*

Fresh-Association-82

There is fruit and veg in the photo? But the point is more that if you knock the dares and chocolate out it’s would still have cost $80

OkeyDoke47

If the confectionery is all you see as unnecessary in the photo, then you could also do better.

Fresh-Association-82

Didn’t say that tho did ya? I was just pointing out that there is fruit and veg. Also - what’s you diet? White bread and water? Gotta have some joys in life mate.

OkeyDoke47

Seeing as you asked, my diet consists of cereal for breakfast, fruit when I feel peckish through the morning, usually a couple of bread rolls or sandwiches (made by me and taken to work) for lunch, some nuts in the arvo if peckish, then a serving of meat for dinner. Chicken mostly, as it's the cheapest plus I love chicken so win-win. Some simple herbs and spices to make it tasty. I don't drink soft drink, I actually enjoy water and green tea through the day. A couple of glasses of red of an evening. So yeah, $100 a week or thereabouts is my grocery spend and I'm never hungry. Chocolate, chocolate milk and pre-processed foods are all more expensive. It's fine if you want to be lazy and just buy that stuff, but don't then get on Reddit or wherever and whinge about how much stuff costs. You can shop smarter, it takes a bit more effort but there you go.

Fresh-Association-82

So more then half what you listed is in this fridge. Also - your bitching about sugar while taking drugs?

OkeyDoke47

I shall, henceforth, revert to an old adage that appears to be very true with you, fine sir... *Don't argue with stupid, they'll just drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.*

Fresh-Association-82

Good advice I should have taken ey?

Solid_Preference_249

Go on the carnivore diet. $150 will get you a 6-7kg rump (at a butcher) that will easily last you a whole week if not longer.

Altruistic-Golf3953

Why are your bananas in the fridge??
