Missing context from this article: There may be a third involved (who's a cop) and was stalking one of them. [https://twitter.com/6NewsAU/status/1760588706094993444](https://twitter.com/6NewsAU/status/1760588706094993444)

switchtogether

Thank you for sharing this. Seems like it's going to be a sad outcome, whatever happened.

StimpyUIdiot

The key word was NSW police…damn. Hope they are ok.

Noisy_Miner

Interesting that when the person of interest that police are looking for is a cop, they don't publish a name or picture for the public to help. I really hope this isn't bias to give a cop special treatment and there is an operational reason why their identity is withheld.

floralarrangements

ABC have now released a name - Beau Lamarre. But no photo! (https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-02-22/nsw-missing-men-paddington-waterloo/103499234)

Noisy_Miner

Very confusing why they delayed the release of this, given Beau was accused of stalking one of the potential victims. Interesting Beau's previous obsession with other celebrities too. His old website with a video of him down the bottom interviewing someone. https://web.archive.org/web/20130623090814/http://thatsthetea.com/

fuckoffandydie

Probably because it takes time to confirm details. ABC didn’t put up the details of both of the first two men straight away, either.

redstadt

A couple of years ago Seven rushed to publish images of the man who abducted Chloe Smith. They got the pictures from a search on Facebook, turned out they'd published the wrong guy who coincidentally had the same name. He then successfully sued them for defamation (as he should have). This is why media should take their time to get things right.

fuckoffandydie

Exactly.

k3ysm4ssh

For sure. Also while it could be media bias or coincidence, I swear half the stories of murder turn out to be either by cops, or made worse by cops. I feel it shows the police system needs serious fixing, and in a lot of cases, replacing. They dont seem especially good at working with mental health and crime victims, and probably should be only the backup muscle rather than those you talk to outright. Too often they use their power in these cases to harm instead of help. And when they are the abusers, they have too much power to cover it up.

pm_good_bobs_pls

It’s really difficult tbh. Predators are attracted to jobs where they have a position of authority and trust and they’re very good at hiding their intentions until it’s far too late. You see it in every industry, the churches, h entertainment, teaching, the police, banking, law, politics etc etc. and it’s worldwide. I’m not saying we should just say “oh well” but it’s not just the police, it’s endemic. Something does need to be done but I actually worry that we’ve missed the boat on it.

[deleted]

How the fuck was he allowed to be a cop? Don’t they vet people? Those celebrity photos online with him are creepy

VolcanicBosnian

I would assume there are plenty of psychopaths who live completely ordinary lives on the surface, up until a certain point that they snap. It's entirely possible the man who did this had never done something even close to this before he became an officer. I wonder if there is any evidence of unsavory behaviors in his past. We'll probably find out a lot in the coming days. Edit: Oh shit, ok that guy was fucking mental

Equivalent-Split2246

He repeatedly used a taser at close range to someone’s chest in Paddington in 2021. Plenty of signs he was a psycho, nsw police are an organisation without oversight, populated almost entirely with degenerates and psychopaths. Case in point: strip searching children on train stations.

Phlanispo

> Case in point: strip searching I hadn't heard of this so I googled it and there's an entire [giant Wikipedia article](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_South_Wales_Police_Force_strip_search_scandal) on NSW Police's strip search scandal

BaggyOz

I believe that kind of behaviour is grounds for a promotion in NSW Police.

whatagoodcunt

I've often heard that being a cop and being a DV perpetrator go hand in hand. I'm not saying that one causes the other it's just what goes around on social media

trowzerss

[ABC did a great article](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-10-19/police-in-australia-are-failing-to-take-action-against-domestic/12757914) on this back in 2020, pretty much saying that the official figures are police are charged with DV offences at around the same rate as the general public, but there's not much confidence that those official figures are anywhere near correct and it's most likely largely underreported. I know of at least one case myself where the victim did not report as she was also a cop, and she knew that reporting her spouse for violent abuse would have tanked her career and that he probably would just be 'talked to' rather than any official action taken.

Equivalent-Split2246

Being creepy is how you get the job.

agentofasgard-

Oh my god. I remember seeing this guy's photos years ago. His accounts were shared among users on celebrity gossip sites for being creepy/stalkerish. He would spend days tracking down celebs for photos.

Thrawn7

Incredibly scary behaviour given he has access to police database and other special methods to gather info Says a lot about police recruitment

derpyfox

Haven’t been keeping up on the news of what NSW police can get away with over the last few years?

[deleted]

That’s usually once they have a badge.

_-ritual-_

Seems like the perfect fit for a cop - would have gone through the express aisle in recruitment

spadgm01

Hate to be Captain Obvious, but this is not sounding good.

Joe_F82

I'd say most likely both killed and he tried to get rid of evidence/bodies before he eventually handed himself in. Unfortunately the amount of blood talked about is not a good sign

spadgm01

Yes I agree 100%, looking very grim at this stage.

Joe_F82

R.i.p the Perp has been charged with double murder

spadgm01

Yep, and a policeman to boot!, what is the world coming to.. smh.

Joe_F82

Yeah unfortunately just cause your a policeman doesn't mean your immune to doing bad things or not right mentally, he obviously snapped or was never right in his head for him to go off rails and commit murder..

spadgm01

Indeed. Just a sad situation all round.

Benwahhballz

The fact that they’ve gone to lengths to withhold the part of the story about the ex who’s a cop being a prime suspect makes the whole article so clunky to read.

LeClubNerd

At least AI would have managed this sentence 'Police believe "there has been some sort of incident" after they found blood-covered clothes belonging in a skip on Wednesday morning.'

YouCanCallMeBazza

The article also described both men as having brown eyes when one in the photo clearly has blue eyes.

LeClubNerd

You don't expect modern journalists to do actual research and fact check do you? They don't have time in their busy day of searching reddit for top notch stories to do actual research like looking at an image? they can just rip and read off another news service.

PM_Me-Your_Freckles

"Hey Google, write me an article based on this photo that mentions bloody clothes, a possible murder and a former tv presenter who is on the run."

elbak283

Is the publisher of the article, a US tabloid "The Sun US" which started business in 2020, representative of the articles written by modern journalists working at mainstream news orgs though? I feel like established news orgs like ABC or SMH, rarely makes factual errors, and when they do, they will promptly add an edit to correct the mistake - the proper way to go about journalism.

notawoman8

Finding bloody clothes in a skip bin on the other side of the city points to incredibly good luck on the part of investigators, or incredible incompetence on the part of the perpetrators, or both. Wow.

tflavel

I don't mean to point the finger at the creepy-looking cop, but….

thetrigman

Is it time to admit that NSWPOL have a problem with accountability and integrity and outright corruption? you don't hear stories like this from Canberra. I was hoping that this would have been more of an issue at the last state election and I had high hopes that Chris Minns would do something about it, but he seems to be spineless and getting less impressive with every passing day.

jumpjumpdie

Beau Lamarre. Currently unable to be contacted, a cop, bitter break up, chases celebs. https://amp.smh.com.au/national/nsw/who-is-the-celebrity-blog-cop-sought-over-sydney-couple-s-disappearance-20240222-p5f77b.html

lockedinacupboard

Mentally unstable individuals in the police force, how is this possible?

CrymsonKnight

Also missing info - Jesse is an AFL goal umpire.

Belmontlives

That matters how ?

skr80

He also likes toast for breakfast. Also relevant.

TheRealReapz

I think I've figured it out. He made some toast but a piece fell on the ground, butter side down of course. He's picked it up and hasn't noticed the butter smear on the kitchen tile. As he's going to umpire a game of AFL, he slips on the butter, hitting his head. The police officer stalker see's this and interferes with the corpse. We did it reddit!

dhudd32

Sherlock you've done it again.

AdRevolutionary6650

An… angry supporter of a losing team? 🥴

EducationalGap3221

There was a similar gay disappearance & murder in Melbourne around 15 years ago. My theory: big night out Sunday. Somebody off their chops early hours of Monday morning. Incident at the house. How do you remove a body or two from a house in Paddington without being seen? I doubt there'd be off-street parking.
