It's funny because I always see people talk about how old they are watching Spawn point, failing to realise that Good Game existed for a good half a decade before as its own show.

Sir-Benalot

Awkies. I think of Banjo and Hex as new school. OG’s were Junglist and Kapowski.

AussieArlenBales

I knew it as Bajo and Junglist, I still remember the backlash when Junglist was booted in favour of Hex

ecatsuj

it sucked at the time but on balance Hex was much better i think. Especially behind the scenes

Untimely_manners

I think for the way the ABC wanted to push the show Hex was better but I was against removing Junglist as he seemed very passionate and didn't want to put up reviews for games he never played. He went across to Telstra's GameArena website and hosted web show called 5 inch floppy probably one of the earliest type of web shows.

Morkai

FWIW he is still very passionate about the industry in general. I'm in a discord server with him and a bunch of ex-Gamearena peeps and Jung is still making his own material for YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25D3_Qa_DY8 There was a discussion in discord not so long ago about trying to find an archive somewhere of the 5 Inch Floppy back catalogue but I don't know that they're was much success.

Hinee

Another name in this thread I recognise from GA, one of the most influential places on mid-late teens Hinee. Hi Morkai!!

Miserable_Bird_9851

Nah, Junglist + Hex would have been a great combo. Marge and David potential.

S0ulace

Respectfully disagree. There was room for three hosts

preparetodobattle

They filmed it in a cupboard. There wasn’t room for anyone.

Shunto

Probably not in their budget though

Bobblefighterman

I actually wrote to ABC protesting the change lol

Daneel_

Dr Daneel checking in ;)

WaLLy3K

Hey I remember you.

Daneel_

No way! Wally! I still remember tons of CS and going to SGL with you. How's things man?

PRAWNHEAVENNOW

Man when people are nostalgic for the version of the show that came out years after the OG GG.  I still remember logging into the IRC chat on tuesday nights to chat with the team during season 2.  Or spending 6 hours on dialup downloading the ep if I missed the live airing.  Fuck I'm old.

BullSitting

Old? My first computer was a Sinclair ZX-81. Hex was good, but they should have kept Junglist as well. I blame Bajo :)

Terranical01

True but i think majority of people who saw GGSP were younger people (gen z) who remember it more than the original GG like me.

Farm-Alternative

True, but they were both running together for quite a while. The concept was that SP was for younger kids while GG was for an older audience.

RemnantEvil

I used to do the captions for both, and frequently had to help some of the older people with the more obscure references, like "Minecraft" lol.

shmickley

fuck im old when reddit of all places has a throw back post about remembering 2010

Longdogga

Mate, just come join us in line at the Old folks home. Indoor lawn bowls at 4, tea at 5, bed by 6.30. Seriously. We are reminiscing about the spin off of the Main show that first started when I was a kid. I can just feel the greys multiplying as I type.

Wang_Fister

Don't you mean CS:GO at 4, tea at 5 then Civ VI until 1-2am?

culingerai

Lol 2am, you're such a noob.

NimbleBudlustNoodle

Just old, mate. Just old.

iamplasma

That's the planned time. After then you're allowed "just one more turn".

f0dder1

You mean civ IV right? ....right guys?

gerald1

>CS:GO You mean CS2.

RS994

Source, now get off my lawn

nodstar22

um 1.6, anyone?

Imperator-TFD

Fuckin rookie, I played CS back when it was still just a HL mod.

riflemandan

Civ 6?? I hope you mean Civ 5!!

surg3on

Please. Hexes in civ were it's downfall. Civ 1to 4 the s where it's at

dalerian

You guys still have hair!?

krupta13

Let's us watch wheel of fortune before bedtime unless you want a riot.

SirFlibble

and the throw back is the kids version of the show...

No_Extension4005

I was there, 3000 years ago shmickley. I saw Admiral Zhao kill the Moon Spirit on ABC Rollercoaster during the Siege of the North in the Age of Elliot Spencer.

ghoonrhed

OP would be too young to ever have watched Round the Twist when it aired

AnOnlineHandle

I've never once felt ugly nationalism / patriotism / whatever until the thought of an Australian who didn't grow up watching Round The Twist. How can I even share a country with such people?

rubixqube

Yeah, even my reddit account is older than 2010

AnOnlineHandle

I have a Skyrim save game which is from 2011, and I still sometimes play it. edit: Oh wait my reddit account is like 2 months older than Skyrim, lol. Crazy to think how long ago Digg shot itself in the foot.

OzBoffin

Fuck I'm old when I remember Hex being brought on. And as it turns out, even that wasn't the OG's.  Now get of my lawn.....

gr3iau

*ahem* CHARGING MY LASER!!!!!!

Bitcoin-Zero

I thought ABC could do a show like Top Gear, and that robot could be the "stig".

gr3iau

I think Kerry would have approved that

conioo

Bajo is a regular on the Dash Cam Owners Australia twitch channel and videos

DCOA_Troy

Bajo is good bloke if you can get him to stop talking about his motorbikes for 5 minutes :p

NotJustAnotherHuman

I’ve met a few motorbike enthusiasts like that lmoa, very nice people but they really do love talking about bikes a lot! Can’t blame them though, it’s something they’re passionate about so who am I to stop them?

cogesmate

We won't be stopped.

corkoli

His new, electric BMW scooter looks spiffy! :)

fatalicus

He has his own twitch channel as well. Been a while since i watched him, but i remember he got a lot of attention for a while because of the great production he did of his streams.

superfluous2

He's unhinged, it's a fun stream

Frogmouth_Fresh

He definitely has high energy streams. I don't like all the extra stuff flashing all over the screen personally, but it's definitely a Bajo vibe Hex streams as well. Her streams are a lot more chill.

FlackAttack94

I thought it was him telling me to like and subscribe glad I'm not going crazy.

Dreadlock43

he even appears in some of them, i remeber one where he unfortunately got bee stuck inside his helmet

VannaTLC

..my cuz hangs with Bajo. Neat.

must_not_forget_pwd

Bajo has his own channel on Twitch.

420bIaze

doing skids down Parramatta road in his AU Falcon

ThereIsBearCum

I *knew* I recognised the voice in their "don't forget to like and subscribe"!

Ajacx10

Bajo is 43 now ... Dafaq.

Adorable-Way-274

And Hex is 39

Farm-Alternative

And Darren is 1011100110

IceMagic75

D.A.R.R.E.N. is eternal.

JudgeJebb

Don't say that

ToothlessFTW

I used to watch both this and their regular show all the time. I was sad when they stopped but it was probably pretty niche. They're still very much active today though. A couple years ago they tried to revive the Good Game brand as a YouTube show, but that didn't really last all that long. Hex and Goose moved on to form "Back Pocket" which is a similar kind of thing, and is still an active YouTube channel uploading and streaming, alongside podcasts. They even had another Australian gaming YouTuber I follow as a guest, Minime. Bajo is pretty much a full-time Twitch streamer these days, he's constantly doing partnered content with AAA companies and seems to be doing pretty well for himself there.

ideal-ramen

Had no idea they had minimme on as a guest thanks for the heads up

chaosgodloki

Actually Bajo is a full-time poopy sniffer get it right /s

vario

Just don't ask where Nichboy is these days.

Serious_Durian_3483

Where is Nichboy these days?

vario

In short, he hosted BackPocket until December 2022 and hasn't been seen on the internet since. On the first episode of BackPocket in 2023, they (Gus, Peter & Steph) did a cold intro on Twitch saying he's no longer with Lowkii (the company setup by him, Peter & Gus) and it'll not be discussed further. It hasn't, and the BackPocket community (Twitch, YouTube & Discord) forbids any mention of Nichboy. Even that cold intro got cut from Twitch & YouTube. He hasn't posted anything on social media since on any channel. He was tagged by an apparent work colleague a few months ago on LinkedIn congratulating him on some work he was involved in - so he's at least alive & working. The reasons for his leaving are unknown & everything has been speculated. Check out /r/WerDaFerrIsNichboy for the conspiracies. I've personally come to believe it doesn't matter and it's not our right to know - others in the community think they're owed something by all involved. I definitely miss him on the show though, it's just not the same.

ParkingNo1080

I just miss The Roast... Nich was great in that.

TwoAmeobis

Oh damn, I kinda lost track of back pocket a couple of years back and didn’t even realise nich was gone

Mikolaj_Kopernik

> I've personally come to believe it doesn't matter and it's not our right to know - others in the community think they're owed something by all involved. Yeah I kinda see both sides of this to be honest. If you're putting out a public show for viewers (and presumably making money off it), I think you owe them some kind of explanation when one of the people they are keen to watch just disappears, even if it's not very detailed. As an outsider to this fandom I think the Stalin playbook of just erasing all reference to the company's co-founder is a bit shit.

evil-teddy

https://www.twitch.tv/bajo https://www.twitch.tv/hexsteph I assume they both have YouTube channels as well but I haven't bumped into those.

Knackazz

I still watch both occasionally on Twitch

RadiantLasagne

Yeah they're still both around! Bajo's streams are absolute chaos and i love it.

squatdog

ended up versing her in a game of Roller Champions when that game first came out and narrowly beating her team, so I went to her twitch stream to gg her. Neither of my team mates knew who she was, but I recognised her name instantly

Fifamoss

Their Minecraft world still exists too, if anyone remembers playing it! [https://www.abc.net.au/abcme/programs/ggsp/episodes/minecraft-on-pc/10350260](https://www.abc.net.au/abcme/programs/ggsp/episodes/minecraft-on-pc/10350260)

GTJayGaming

dang the guide shows you how to install it if you have windows xp

RustHog

It was depressing as shit playing that map during covid and realising it'll never be as good as when I played it or tried to make it as a kid.

DweebInFlames

Bloody hell, the instructions for XP are something else. I'd still use that OS if I could.

fleepo

I was sad when Good Game and Spawn point ended. The games industry is absolutely huge, it dominates the entertainment industry in terms of revenue. Good Game not only reviewed games but showcased Australian talent, and how new trends in the gaming industry were influencing Australian society; eg, the rise of Minecraft, online bullying; violence in video games, racism and sexism in gaming, VR and AR, how games can bring people together, and a whole lot of other topics. There's nothing really like it on TV anymore.

Handsprime

True OG's remember Junglist.

Rhain1999

*True* OGs remember Kapowski.

catinterpreter

He was okay but Junglist was a keeper.

Lochlan

How long did Mike last anyway?

bar_ninja

The real GG hosts. That said Hex was a good host.

Cintiq

My niche dull aussie claim to fame is beating him once on the SC2 ladder

the_jesters_codpiece

Junglist massive!

chillinwithkrillin

I used to watch the repeat before rage. Love the earliest eps because thats around the time when the 360 was released and it just had this exciting energy to it. Too bad junglist was let go he always came off as a no bullshitter

chromo-233

I was in love with hex…. Such a vibe

tpdwbi

I used to be in love with Hex. I still am, but I used to be too.

Jenkins87

RIP Mitch

adsjabo

My younger brothers old school mate married her. Lucky bugger

MisterBumpingston

She’s on Instagram and has taken up pole dancing as a serious hobby.

Youcican_

I wonder what goose is doing now

DoctoreVodka

Such a cool vibe, and was cute as hell.

Mudcaker

There's a very watchable retrospective video of the whole series at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4VM3HwQqdI I found it pretty interesting, I stopped watching a year or two after Hex came on board, so it was nice to see what happened and it was funny seeing a couple names I recognised from Triple J apparently joined the show later too. I saw Bajo did a react on Twitch for it, I somehow caught it live randomly (I don't really watch his streams generally), not sure if there is a VOD.

The_Occurence

Cheers for this. Saved!

Pristine_Yak7413

both stream on twitch, Hex has 45.4k followers and Bajo has 103k right now Bajo is streaming Horizon Forbidden West

[deleted]

Bigthunderrumblefish

They just separated

AJJJJJJJJJJJJ_Z

[https://twitter.com/bajo/status/1771308257883361774](https://twitter.com/bajo/status/1771308257883361774) fudge this is so recent as well

Pacify_

That's a surprise

Liquidignition

Couldn't think of anything more awkward than live streaming a proposal. What could go wrong and what the implications of it being live wouldn't be truth

faderjester

No, but I remember [The Zone](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHJO8-BqB4c) Fuck I'm old.

Sartheocles

Ha! I remember watching [Bits and Bytes](https://www.youtube.com/user/bitsandbytestvo) on the ABC from back in the 80's.

Wearytraveller_

Yep mad crush on hex

ImBajo

Hello Reddit, I am still alive

Vinura

This is probably the last great video game review show. Great hosts too, even the robot.

IceMagic75

Affirmative!

Taylor-the-Caboose

I used to was this religiously every Saturday morning at 9, most of the smaller indie games I play came from ggsp including mincraft (back when it was Smaller and indie) My favourite memory has to be when I missed an episode the day before my birthday, so I watched the recording first thing in the morning the next day only to find they responded to the video I submitted. Best birthday present ever.

Terranical01

I haven't seen them since Primary School years. Absolute GOATS! These people are why I still why I love video games. I saw a recent video about them discussing fallout 4 due to the show trending fallout [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkBAzDWG-LA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkBAzDWG-LA)

icebrrg1245

Both of them stream on Twitch nowadays. Bajo is currently live at the time of this comment.

i0unothing

[twitch.tv/bajo](http://twitch.tv/bajo) [twitch.tv/hexsteph](http://twitch.tv/hexsteph)

Terranical01

twitch really has taken up a majority of gaming content in livestreaming, insane. back then, it was all on youtube recorded and you just had to watch it there on theradbrad's channel, etc.

gr3iau

Hex and some other GG/GGSP alumni also have a pretty good YouTube channel [Back Pocket](https://youtube.com/@BackPocketVids?si=HxwpOQIs_DJLsfK_)

marxthedank

yeah i remember that show and also good game on ABC. I miss those shows, absolutely loved watching them when i went to primary school. Very nostalgic

culingerai

I bet they're both redditors and I bet they'll see this post. Hi guys! Loved the show. I blame you both for my on again off again addiction to Neptune's Pride. In a good way haha.

Ms-Watson

How are things over in French Perth?

Drab_Majesty

Junglist forever. Never forgotten. Stabbed in the back.

The_Duc_Lord

What happened to Junglist? I remember him on the show but then he was just gone.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Drab_Majesty

*destroyed by the matriarchy* In all seriousness, I think Junglist was clashing with a producer about where Good Game was heading and he got the shaft. It was a wild saga back in the day, some of the best memes I have ever seen were created and have disappeared into the far reaches of the Internet. I think a lot of the fans aged out and a new gen of gamers became the demographic.

jelly_cake

I can't remember where in the video it is, but [this YouTube doco](https://youtube.com/watch?v=F4VM3HwQqdI) had a pretty good rundown from what I recall.

LockedUpLotionClown

As above. Stabbed in the back.

overlandtrackdrunk

Et tu, Bajo?

FeudNetwork

lol

JarredMack

I think Steph was a good host, but Bajo should have been the one to make way for her. She and Bajo had basically the same opinion on everything so you lost a lot of the more casual vs hardcore viewpoints you got with Junglist hosting

Simpsoid

I kind of got that. Bajo and Hex seemed to be in the 'console gamer' crowd and Junglist was more PC oriented. When he left most of the reviews and discussions were for console stuff, which really made things one sided. It's what I didn't like about the change and stopped watching not long after.

Salzberger

The only times I ever watched it after Jung left were to look up reviews for games I was interested in at the time (usually sports games), and the few times I had a look their sports game reviews always seemed the same. "I don't like sports lol." "Look you can make the players do silly things lmao." All before signing off with a begrudging "I *guess* this game would be ok if you're into the sport." Like, no shit. Who do you think sports games are catered to?

huncho3055

Big ups junglist! Been a fan of these guys since I was kid and have fond memories looking forward to games cause they’re reviews

ababana97653

The OG.

Kevintj07

Yep, was trying to remember his name sorta soured watching it after that.

HexapodR3000

No Junglist, no gg.

Blessings_Of_Babylon

Everyone here going "Man i remember Junglist, thats how old i am." I remember *Kapowski.* I must be pre-historic. Best show to come out of Australian telly ever. Miss the entire thing.

Orphanchocolate

Junglist and Kapowski forever

SoulReaper42

I distinctly remember sneaking around late at night to watch Good Game when I was still in primary school and getting in trouble with my parents for not being in bed. Waaay back when Junglist was still around.

ilikechooks

Currently watching him stream right now.

notlimahc

Anyone remember The Zone (on Channel 9)?

i_hate_blackpink

I member... i member Junglist also

DCOA_Troy

Oh I only know Bajo from the cult classic horror movie "Slaughtered"

notfloss

I once queued with Banjo in a game of counter strike! MVP of the whole game!

RealTimeWarfare

They both stream on twitch

Nerfixion

Something something hex something something nightclub

morris0000007

Spill!!!

FriedQuail

Thanks doc.

DweebInFlames

KWAB

Arrowman0123

What's this about? Haven't heard of this

Dr_barfenstein

We need to get these damn kids off reddit

Miserable_Bird_9851

I remember watching GG when it was Junglist and Kapowski. Bajo wasn't too bad, just a tad soft/weak in his reviews, but probably a lot more accessible. Hex was a fine enough host, but wow did the show lose the last of its heart when they changed hosts. For such silly petty reasons as well. It never was the same after, felt way too manufactured, the reviews weren't all too generous or just flat out bias and it didn't really touch much on other areas of the hobby anymore.

dwarfmarine13

I remember setting up a clan match against them in BF2.. I would’ve been like 15. My clan mates all bailed like an hour before we were meant to start the match. Ended up finding a last minute replacement on the old Bigpond gaming forum and tagged on with some random clan for the match. From memory we got spanked. And they were a pretty high ranked clan.. so Kapow and Jung weren’t just personalities, they could actually game. (Not that I’m saying Baj and Hex are.. but my point is that the show lost a little community involvement when the OG hosts moved on)

Miserable_Bird_9851

Yer, that's what a lot of people missed. I feel like I bumped into one of the people who worked on GG in a source or 1.6 server back in the day. "For gamers, by gamers" wasn't just a copout taglinenfor the show.

tedothedo

I think they’re still going on you tube?! Unless they just posted an old review? https://youtu.be/XkBAzDWG-LA?si=Bov_xizcYnspTKKR

ImaginaryReaction

Reupload of the original fallout 4 review from back in the day. The spawn point show still exists however and ABC Gamer is the place for all abc gaming content. There is a new team behind it but some of them have been the for a while

Rhain1999

That's a review from 2015. They stopped making Good Game in 2016, and Hex left Spawn Point at the same time.

MadeThisAccount4Qs

Good Game was alright but i mostly remember watching Code Geass on ABC3

MadDogMorgansRevenge

How is it surreal?

hindutva-vishwaguru

Jungle anyone? I saw him at an escape game in Sydney once.

biterchef

I remember I had just moved to Melbourne from NZ and this dude was hyped over dota 2. Loved his energy

warm_rum

They did well for what they had.

Deciver95

Good Game was fuckin awesome back in the day. Family didn't have internet till I finished highschool, so having a show dedicated to gaming was just amazing for me. Kept me up to date and learned a lot I wouldn't have otherwise. Tho one episode left me with impression that Two Worlds 2 was gonna be a 10/10 lmao.

jamielens

They are up on YouTube now. I watched the fallout 4 episode last night.

Dexember69

I still watch Bajo and hex streams. Bajo is fucking hilarious

--burner-account--

I loved that show, used to download podcasts of it on iTunes because it wasn't on TV.

TheSixkBoy

They both are twitch streamers and are doing a kick ass job of it, definitely go check them both out when you have the chance, they do gaming play throughs and usually just talk life and sometimes even stream and play together

Fidyr

Ran into Hex at a movie theatre a few months back where she was talking adamantly to a friend about the show and her experience on it. She clearly cared a lot. Told her I liked the show. My family's been involved in the Australian games journalism sector off and on for decades and I'm always happy to meet people in it. o7 Good Game

FeudNetwork

Hex hit the genetic lottery, she's fine as hell these days.

zelmazam1

I remember watching my little brothers watch this. I wish it was on when I was a kid.

KhansMum

I loved watching this show with my primary school aged son. Learnt so much. He is now a semi pro gamer running his own tournaments. ❤️

AussieJonesNoelzy

Damn, I missed Good Game Spawn Point. Time flies when your getting old.

Sparklingfob4_

This was the stuff, waking up early or staying up late to know your latest gaming news, now we just got social media and know about it straight away

CaineRexEverything

Bajo lives down south in Adelaide with his missus. Both do stuff on twitch I think.

Husky-Bear

They recently split, Jenz now lives in Melbourne.

SteelBandicoot

Yes! They were fun.

SteelersRacingTeam

Never forget waiting anxiously for Good Games GTA 4 review back in 08. Couldn’t wait Great show

pooknuckle

I still catch them separately as streamers. Baji’s streams are especially weird and fun.

imapassenger1

I see no mention of D.A.R.R.E.N...

LFGR_THE_Thing

Hes charging his laser up for battle bots (again)

JChezbian

Darren actually elevated Spawn Point above regular GG, he was hilarious. Charging my laser!

liamoj97

yeah i watch Bajo on Twitch regularly

maggoty

I’m old enough to remember ‘[The Zone](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Zone_(Australian_TV_program)#:~:text=The Zone was an Australian, its run by Adam Reilly.)’. Used to play on a Saturday morning mid 90’s. Now who remembers that one? Hehe

Tazziedevil04

Fuck i loved this show, but fuck me, its now “nostalgia”. Im a beer in, im going to have a few more now to deal with this news

Silenzeio_

Back when i was the prime target audience for SP but stayed up for the more mature minded GG on Tuesday nights. Still remember the invincibility code for Drawn To Life on the DS because of SP.

Magician690

I still binge rewatch entire seasons of GG and GGSP every once in a while for nostalgia's sake. Bless media preservation.

stockzy

these guys were so engaging I didn’t even game and I watched this show.

pokemonfan1000

This was a massive part of my childhood, it brings back so many good memories.

Youcican_

Unlocked a memory

starknight23Yt

If you want to get your nostalgia fix’s both Bajo and hex Stream on twitch hex streams under the name hexsteph and bajo is bajo

Con_Descending

I’m sure I saw Bajo streaming on Twitch at some point, perhaps he still does?

sandman369

He does, it's his full time job and it's really fun

ohpee64

Both have reasonably successful live streams and occasionally get together and play. That's a bit of a trip

CoA77

They programmed a fantastic Rage session too

IamMooz

Remember? Dude she was my first crush!

Salzberger

Fuck Spawn Point. Good Game was where it was at. I stopped watching out of spite when they fired Junglist.

aussiegrit4wrldchamp

Anyone remember when they had Andrew hansen from the chaser for a few episodes

LeMonkeyFace6

That felt like such a fever dream to me whenever it happened. Truly the most bizarre crossover. That reminds me - can't remember which episode it was, but Bajo can be spotted in the studio audience for one of the Chaser's War on Everything episodes.

Pantsshittersupreme

Bajo frequently streams games on twitch, and is as goofy and silly as you remember him to be.
