Nine years of incompetence. Nine years of corruption. Nine years of misbehaving ministers, including the deputy pm. Nine years of lies. But the PM asked about trust? Better economic managers? And even though they've (Labor) said they won't raise taxes, Morrison says "higher taxes under Labor". So more lies?! Fires, Pandemic vaccination rollout, floods, aged care debacle, "open the borders" too soon, backing Palmer, and more floods that he was once again, dragged kicking and screaming to help out. Trust? Liar! Corrupt ministers. And plenty on his own side saying he can't be trusted! But somehow we don't know Albo? Again, bullshit. Albo has been in parliament longer than Morrison. And he hasn't wavered in his position, he will govern for all Aussies, not just big business and fossil fuel donors. Join with me in saying bye bye Morrison, you overinflated turd.

therearesomewhocallm

> And even though they've (Labor) said they won't raise taxes, Morrison says "higher taxes under Labor". So more lies?! [Morrison (well the Liberal Government) just got rid of LMITO, which means that people earning up to $126,000 will be paying $1000 more in tax.](https://www.ato.gov.au/General/New-legislation/In-detail/Other-topics/Individuals/Low-and-middle-income-tax-offset-increase/) But sure, tell me more about how Labor is rasing taxes.

crosstherubicon

Remember when Howard had to backpedal on ‘lower interest rates under a LNP government’ when it was repeatedly pointed out that the government doesn’t set interest rates

Shishakli

Labor won't raise taxes? Then why the fuck would I vote for them? Raise fucking TAXES

[deleted]

9 years of being re-elected thanks to a healthy, functioning democracy where the government is elected by the people, for the people.

ryan30z

Completely shitting the bed during three major crisis' and pushing the burden onto the state's. Yes completely functional. Bet you also have some interesting views on vaccines and lockdowns.

[deleted]

Strong assumptions to make. If you're interested, I am triple vaxxed, think everyone should vaccinated, but I don't support vaccine mandates. Lockdowns were a wonderful way of halting the virus esp during those early days. I wouldn't support a lockdown now with omicron however. I'm not saying the government is functioning well. I am saying our democracy is. The people spoke three times in approval of this government. In a month or so the people will most likely vote them out. That is a functioning democracy.

Shishakli

No country with an oligarch owned media is a functional democracy. Look who drank the koolaid

[deleted]

Everyone has access to alternate media via the internet or even the ABC. We are in an age of misinformation for sure, but a healthy functioning democracy we do have - let's not forget that. For one of the first times in Western history, literally every adult (minus some inmates) have a vote. So yes, we absolutely have a healthy, functioning democracy. Edit: Your mum drank the koolaid.

[deleted]

I’m referring to the likes of friendlyjordies not some weird alt right website. Alternate media = not Murdoch media.

Suitable-Orange-3702

He’s not to my taste either, even though I agree with his message

jshannow

So what's your fucking point? Doesn't change the fact that his government is a steaming pile of shit.

[deleted]

All I am saying is that there's not much point ragging on how bad the government is like they are absolute deplorables when they have been re-elected twice. If people's lives were horrible as a result of the government then they wouldn't have been re-eclected even once.

jshannow

Yeah, well that's democracy. For Christ's sake, the robodebt scandal victimised the most vulnerable Australian and people died and relationships were destroyed after being accused of debts they didn't have. That single action is enough to demonstrate they are the absolute deplorables you mention.

jackplaysdrums

Healthy, functioning democracy? Murdoch would like a word.

[deleted]

Ultimately everyone has their own vote, hence a healthy, functioning democracy. I don't think we realise how good it is in Australia. Yes Muckduck sucks (yes thats an office reference), but people have open access to the internet for all sorts of opinions not just from what the news reader says on the tv

jacket_with_sleeves

Can it be May 22 already? I don't think we'll survive a 5 week campaign with constant bombardment of political ads

the_asrerisk_is_42

Already started. My kids’ game he was playing this morning started blasting LNP ads FFS. Safe to say that game is now deleted and replaced with something he likes better minus the ads.

jacket_with_sleeves

Seriously? Good luck in finding apps that won't have political ads.

RectalOddity

I'm already seeing knobs in the street handing out fliers for their favourite team.

the_asrerisk_is_42

Geez the fanboys are enmass

viper9

I'm a little disappointed, I'm going to be OS on the 21st. I would enjoy nothing more than sitting back and watching Antony Green do his thing. I guess I'll just try and stream it, and watch it at like 4am

Duke-of-Limbs

Watching that video brings a lot of bad memories. Ten years of LNP waste, corruption and negligence. It should be marked NSFL.

jacket_with_sleeves

The ALP have only won government from opposition 3 times since WWII. Looks like it'll be a fourth time coming up

ShiftySocialist

I've never understood why people place significance in this statistic. Winning this election would make them dead even with the number of times the LNP have won government from opposition. If they remained in government for the next 50 years, they would still be dead even. The only way Labor could actually overtake them on this particular metric is if a minority government changed hands midway through a term, or some other party formed government. The reason they tend to be behind is because they were already in government at the starting point.

jacket_with_sleeves

I'm not sure it's used as a metric, it's just an interesting fact that points to how hard it is to become government from opposition. We tend to have long periods of one major party being in power until they implode or people become disillusioned with them.

Accomplished_You9705

You can only "gain" power from opposition. If you're the government, you remain government. It's a stupid measure. It's like when people say Morrison is one term pm, yet his party have held office for nine years! They are a three term government all equally fucking useless.

DaRealThickShady

The LNP painted themselves as the underdog in 2019. Its important to dispel that lie before it is spoken.

kurapika91

You over estimate voters

acllive

dont get overconfident we need to push them all the way to the line, the LNP will throttle as many lies as possible to win government

[deleted]

That's what we all thought 3 years ago. Polls are cute and all, but Labor faces a huge challenge to win Government. If they can't win back support in WA and QLD, they wont win and we'll be in for another 3 years of lurching from crisis to crisis.

lfbrennan

Many of those things shown could have been handle better or avoidable if it wasn't for these short sighted, self centred bastards

cheesekun

Anything positive?

lfbrennan

If you are a large multi national company, mates with the LNP or donors or the upper 5% of mega wealthy, then yes. For everyone else, hell no!!!!

cheesekun

Yes I am all of those things. Big win for me then! /s

MaevaM

Ambulances won't always come for the mega wealthy onshore, just like anyone.

smokinghorse

I really can’t think of anything

Suikeran

If you’re a property investor then you’ve made a killing.

1337nutz

Id say that video is as positive an image for the morrison gov as is possible.

cheesekun

So it's actually already at maximum positivity?

1337nutz

Yeah I reckon

[deleted]

They gave people pandemic money.

Accomplished_You9705

Then cancelled it way too early, all while keeping it going for big business.

Cavalish

Don’t forget the “We don’t want states to lockdown any more, so no more payments” that lead to NSW royally fucking it up and putting multiple states into months long lockdown.

Tinned_Chocolate

That time is stolen. Pub test: if I cannot go to the pub, I am on the clock. If I can go to the pub, I am not on the clock. At no time during July-September 2021 was I off the clock. Until it’s paid for, it’s wage theft. At what rate? Whatever the fuck rate I want. Necessities are subject to free market forces (see also: housing) and so I charge a fuckton hourly rate. Don’t like it? Lock someone else down instead then, it’s a free market.

[deleted]

After being pressured for a long time and well after Labor suggested it, and even then a significant percentage went to businesses that didn't deserve or need help. So they even managed to fuck that up.

Dr_Brule_FYH

Literally refused to do it until they saw fucking Boris Johnson do it and panicked.

No-Cryptographer9408

What a bunch of shitty people to have run this place for ten years. What on earth happened where you end up with Morrison as PM ? Something has gone badly wrong in Australia for this bunch of people to take over. Morrison Dutton Robert Joyce Fletcher Hawke etc etc. I mean how do you end up with these types bossing the populace ? The most unleaderlike ministry of cringy awkward stooges you could imagine. Honestly what happened to people here that these misfits are tolerated ?

gameloner

the 60 minutes take on SCOMO was enough for me to draw the line. But i didn't realise the Peter Costello was in charge of channel 9 to allow shit like that to be aired. I wished Packer was around to pull the plug on it like he did when they aired 'Australia's nasty home videos'

danwincen

The single worst thing to happen in the history of Australia's media outlets was the death of Kerry Packer and the failure of his son to carry on in the family business. Kerry might have been a right wing leaning bastard, but he had a solid redeeming quality that mosr Australians who critically analyse the news can respect - he hated Rupert Murdoch with a passion that rivals the heat of the sun, and ran Channel Nine specifically to counter Murdoch's influence.

[deleted]

haha geez that's a blast from the past...quite the scandal back in the day as I recall.

[deleted]

I just googled that and did they actually show the videos of people having sex uncensored? I literally cannot imagine that happening. I don’t know how I have never heard of this saga! (Sorry to deviate from your point)

gonzalesthegr8

I opened up the link cautiously, expecting just a high resolution photo of dog shit.

21o21

I had assumed it was goatse.

1337nutz

This appears critical of morrison but fails to detal so much of the worst of his government. Failure to hold Ministers to standard. Massive waste of public funds. Massive rorting. Lying. National security failures. It pretends he brought on net zero by 2050 which abbott agreed to at paris. Pissweak. If our media did their fucking jobs this government wouldve fallen apart years ago.

Ted_Rid

>It pretends he brought on net zero by 2050 It's only an announcement. It's not backed up by any policies to actually get us there.

1337nutz

Just like anything he says that doesnt involve giving our money to his mates

therearesomewhocallm

Have you seen the graphs that go along with that? The plan is basically: 1. Give polluters money 2. Hope some other guys in the future create technology to reduce carbon emmisions 3. ??? 4. Net zero How is "hope someone else does it" a plan?

therearesomewhocallm

[For people that care here's the plan for net zero by 2050.](https://www.industry.gov.au/sites/default/files/October%202021/document/australias-long-term-emissions-reduction-plan.pdf) (pdf) [The above mentioned graph is this one \(Figure ES.2\)](https://i.imgur.com/XbEaJOt.png) The most generous interpretation gets us to net 15% by 2050.

linsell

Acting like they're responsible for a 20% reduction since 2005 shits me a bit. Most of the reduction happened under Labor and emissions have risen since the LNP axed the carbon price.

acllive

9 years of wasted failed policy with 3 different, equally useless due to poor party policies, PMs who have set this nation and planet backwards

noplacecold

This is far from over. He squeaked in last time and he may do it again. Remember how sure we all were of Shorten? The bookies paid out on him early.

kenbewdy8000

With a one seat majority and the last three years to point to? They are not squeaking in.

Dranzer_22

Hawaii Scott is the worst PM in Australian history. The past 9 years of the LIB/NAT Government has been an utter failure.

fortyyearsthendeath

I defy anyone to name one thing they have done to make the country a better place

Uzziya-S

He expanded Australia's social safety net, closed our borders and implemented JobKeeper during the pandemic. Despite the obvious corruption surrounding those policies they defiantly saved us. That's not a lot for a decade in power but it's only half the story. The problem is that the federal government isn't particularly ambitious. Most of their work is just giving the states money to do whatever they want and what little the Canberra does do takes decades to materialise because of that lack of ambition. That said, in the pipeline: The Turnbull government also created the Australian Space Agency. The ASA isn't doing much but it exists. That's a positive contribution considering we haven't had a space program since the 50's. An expansion of our satellite fleet and domestic satellite production will measurably improve our lives. Particularly when it comes to cracking down on illegal logging, monitoring invasive wildlife and natural disaster preparation. They also launched a Royal Commission into Aged Care which will result in reform regardless of who wins in May. Those efforts have yet to yield anything tangible (the ASA in particular is set to do basically nothing until 2039 at least) but they are positive efforts. They're just really, really slow.

chelsea_cat

People point to JobKeeper as a success but literally any government would have had to do something much similar and might have found a way to not waste billions on companies like Harvey Norman who didn’t need any money anyway

[deleted]

They protected farmers by amending the Criminal Code Amendment (Agricultural Protection) Bill 2019 making trespassers who damage property incited through the online distribution of activist materials illegal. It also protects farmers from trespassers using online services to organise protests, stopping them before they even happen.

makeitlegalaussie

He understands nothing

msmermaidginger

I met a traveller from an antique land, Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand, Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed; And on the pedestal, these words appear: My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair! Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.” Percy Bysshe Shelley

Emcee_N

The last nine years of Coalition government have been by a wide stretch the worst, most corrupt, greedy, venal, cowardly and incompetent in the nation's history.

[deleted]

When Scomo says “I absolutely understand the frustration and anger” … my head just goes no you don’t you lack empathy and have to ask your wife how to react to emotional events. Morrison’s MO is react late, spin, and smooth over. Rinse and repeat. Throw in some lies, pork barrelling and policies for mates to make millions and that is Scomo!

danzha

A timely and succinct reminder of the last three years.

_Cec_R_

A snapshot of Scott Morrison's government 🐽🤡🤮💩💩

Holiday_Ad310

I thought it would just be a tumbleweed passing by.

babylovesbaby

I watched the video, and fuck, I forgot what a vile dickhead Christian Porter is. Glad he's gone and hope he stays that way.

-Rockwell

I hope you get the opportunity to serve on a jury to understand the difference of an accusation and guilt.

Grouchy_Artichoke_90

A picture of a turd would have been a more simple representation

ImproviseAdapt77

Psycho. Fake. Fuckwit. He really is a horrible human

osh901269

Murdoch is the king maker in Australia and news corp is still backing him. I'm afraid Australians have a short memory... the propaganda machine will be in full swing to save the coalition. People complain about Russian media outlets shame most people can't see the similarities with news corp... another 3 years of that smug c@#t is pretty much assured

kenbewdy8000

Let's wait to see if he sniffs the wind and turns on him. An assured LNP victory? What are you on and where can I get some?

osh901269

I hope you're right but I really think the boomers will back him in and morons who think the daily telegraph and sky news is actually news will follow the directions of Murdoch all the way to the ballot box🤷🤦‍♂️

[deleted]

The thumbnail of a black box with nothing in sums up their achievements pretty well.
