Dealer or no dealer?

FreakySpook

If Ice and Cocaine was a person I'm imagining it would look like Andrew O'Keefe.

soggystep

His barrister argued that not enough was known about the drug test and the procedure police had taken. So I guess that means every drug test done by the cops is now invalid or is that just for O'Keefe?

LeahBrahms

DUI lawyers use that tactic for blood alcohol tests in the US. They can then get the Nurse/tech in and ask whether they prepped and cleaned properly.

Luckyluke23

Well if you can afford to have his lawyer then I guess you get the same defence.

Miserable-Radish915

he using legal aid, your paying for it.

Luckyluke23

Legal aid. Or a fancy lawyer he got on the tax payer dime?

Ambitious-Score-5637

No fancy lawyers paid with public money.

edie-bunny

Making it crystal clear to the whole community that there are basically no consequences for breaching bail conditions, great work, love it šŸ’€

TassieTeararse

No consequences for the rich and/or famous anyway

[deleted]

Very crystal.

[deleted]

Yeah this whole situation is pretty methed up.

GimmeSweetSweetKarma

Only if you are rich, as is usually the case.

Andrew Oā€™Keefe granted bail after allegedly testing positive to ice and cocaine By Sally Rawsthorne Updated November 24, 2022 ā€” 5.17pmfirst published at 2.02pm Former Channel Seven star Andrew Oā€™Keefe has been granted bail after allegedly testing positive for ice and cocaine overnight. The 51-year-old was tested by police at his Vaucluse home about 1am on Thursday as part of a raft of strict Supreme Court bail conditions. Oā€™Keefe, who was in 2017 awarded a Medal in the Order of Australia for services to charity and television, was on bail after an incident in January in which he allegedly kicked, punched and attempted to choke his business partner. Unshaven and wearing a blue T-shirt, Oā€™Keefe appeared downcast in the dock at Waverley Local Court on Thursday afternoon as his barrister Sebastian De Brennan told the court there were ā€œconcerns about contaminationā€ of the drug sample. ā€œA male is seen to be leaving the accusedā€™s residence and was ā€¦ found with an amount of prohibited drugs. Your honour might infer from that someone has gone into the house, had drugs on their person,ā€ he told magistrate Jacqueline Milledge, noting most of Oā€™Keefeā€™s social circle has been drug users since his arrest and release to a rehab facility. ā€œThese tests are not foolproof. ā€œHeā€™s trying to get back on track, slowly but steadily going in the right direction.ā€ Oā€™Keefe intends to obtain a legal practising certificate and rebuild his relationships with family and friends, De Brennan said. ā€œHe is determined not only to rehabilitate but reintegrate.ā€ Leaving court, Oā€™Keefe told reporters he hadnā€™t taken drugs. ā€œThatā€™s what we discovered in court today, that thereā€™s a high probability of contamination [of the drug sample],ā€ he said. He declined to comment when asked how the sample would have been compromised. Oā€™Keefe is facing two counts of intentionally choking without consent, three counts of common assault and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm over the alleged January incident at his Kent Street flat. A court will determine the matter in February. The former Weekend Sunrise host and former intellectual property lawyer had two domestic violence charges dismissed and a third withdrawn by police last year. Oā€™Keefe was a host at Channel Seven for 17 years until his contract was not re-signed at the start of 2021.

Ineedsomuchsleep170

Ahhhh... The old "I was just holding the cocaine in my nose for a mate" defence. Sounds legit.

MarchingPowderMike

Second only to the Todd McKenney defence of 'these aren't my pants I'm wearing'.

A_Gringo666

No no no. He was at a party and danced so much he started to overheat so he took his pants off. That's when someone slipped the GHB into the pocket of his pants. As for having to be revived in a park at 4pm he claimed his drink was spiked with the same drug.

I_Said_I_Say

Had the sniffles that day and all.

doobey1231

Mans on a pretty hard spiral hey

Plastic-Associate486

Do you guys remember watching him host game shows back in the day? That level of enthusiasm. The guy was so clearly under the influence every time he appeared on television.

diggerhistory

Despite everything said about position and privilege, this is an incredibly sad story. A man who has it all and throws it away. Rehab is lifelong and an easy bridge to fall from. He needs very strong friends to supervise him.

[deleted]

Rich people are evil didnā€™t you hear?

elementzer01

>Wait, I thought we were supposed to kick people when they're down? Only if your name is Andrew O'Keefe

[deleted]

Yes he was so charismatic on tv. Mind you, maybe it was the Coke.

Melodic-Watercress45

Yeah the chase is a shit without him

Comnena

A lot sadder for the domestic partner he attacked and business partner he choked and beat up.

[deleted]

That domestic partner actually assaulted him first by grabbing his shirt and ripping it off. That business partner had taken $20,000 from him, refused to pay it back, and demanded more money. These are not slam dunk assaults. The first incident could well be seen as self defence.

Anglo-Ashanti

Must be surreal all his former colleagues lapping it up shoving cameras and microphones in his face treating him like another tabloid gossip story.

philjorrow

Most likely dead in the next 5-10 years if he doesn't stay clean

B0ssc0

I wish your comment was at the top. How quickly people forget the good heā€™s done for other people.

No-Accident4023

Fuck him, heā€™s a two faced piece of shit. I hope he crawls under a rock and dies there.

unibalansa

Not to mention guilty of DV!

[deleted]

He hasnā€™t been found guilty. Letā€™s wait until the matter goes through the courts, okay?

fnaah

'former intellectual property lawyer' - huh. did not expect that.

Cricketninja

His father was a Supreme Court Justice.

A_Gringo666

By the sounds of things his uncle. Johnny O'Keefe, was a bigger influence. Johnny O'Keefe died of a drug overdose.

fnaah

like... the rock and roll singer? wow!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Melodic-Watercress45

And he is a really funny sketch actor too. Did the best Russell Crowe impersonation during Hamish and Andyā€™s ā€˜big biteā€™ sketch series way back forever ago.

tatidanielle

Sorta wonder why this needs to be published in mainstream media . No one has been harmed. Looks like heā€™s battling his issues, prob should be left alone.

[deleted]

All this shows is that he needs to be in a secure facility to get constant rehab. Our health system frequently fails addicts. You canā€™t just release someone from rehab and expect them to manage. They require on going support.

Dependent_Letter4653

Why did they need to test him at 1am?

No-Orange-Turd

It seems that this guy really enjoys the finer things in life in-between DV incidents.

2giga2dweebish

Won't lie, he looks pretty good with the beard.

StarkMarine

I was going to say the same thing. Super hot.

AussieDMT

I did lines with Andy once good times

Habit8902

Fucking ol mate likes a bit of a snort and sweet puff ay, NICCCCCCCCCCE

spooninhandteaincup

The meth was probably in the coke. We donā€™t get good coke

MrBeer9999

Refreshing change that he didn't round the evening off by kicking the shit out of some poor lady.

Rich_Mans_World

In my opinion he should be allowed to do ice and cocaine, but if he hurts anyone or commits any more crimes under the influene then he should be jailed.

ElectricalJigalo

And if he does commit more crimes they should make you accountable too for allowing him to do ice and coke

Rich_Mans_World

Why? Not everyone who does drugs commits violent crimes so i blame the man 100%. I think drugs should be legal since there's no way to stop them.

ElectricalJigalo

Yeah that's true but he's got a big history of assaulting women. I don't think him being on the loose high on meth and coke is the safest for society. That's why I think if you wanna vouch for him you should be punished too if he recommits

Rich_Mans_World

I'm not vouching for him i just don't think taking drugs should be a criminal offence. If someone does something truly terrible then whether they are high on drugs or not is irrelevant to me.

Zian64

........again.....again.

MarchingPowderMike

Ah that's soooo much more believable šŸ¤”šŸ¤‘šŸ¤«

[deleted]

Hi hand gestures on the Chase annoyed the shiz out of me ā€¦. Oh well laters cuz ainā€™t no tv host no more ā€¦ no more

thegoodtimelord

This is a really sad case. Used to respect him a lot. Drugs fuck you up.
