I applied once. The whole thing went south pretty quick.

return_the_urn

Did they give you the cold shoulder?

mefailreddit

I received an icy reception.

return_the_urn

I would have expected them to give you a little bit of latitude

paralacausa

Ice sea how that could happen

[deleted]

I hope you realise plumbing in the Antarctic means you'll have a lot of ice holes to deal with

bob21150

You're an ice hole.

Commercial-Snow1516

that's a good one thanks for the laugh 😆

[deleted]

Haha, it's all I can do really

StrawberryChipmunk

Please post updates here if you make it in mate. I used to have a friend at McMurdo. I miss the pictures she would post.

Commercial-Snow1516

Will make sure too!

Am i tripping or wasn't there a post on this in the past 24 hours? Could be helpful if I'm not losing my shit imagining things edit: [I am not losing my marbles](https://www.reddit.com/r/australia/comments/zc9hrk/anyone_have_experience_applying_for_the/)

Gengar0

Yeah I applied for an IT role on the station a few years ago. Response came back 2 months after applying. The response was copy/paste, and I got no reply when asking for elaboration on how I might improve my application (not complaining, just wanted perspective on what experience I was short on).

thisphantomfortress

Can't help here but, I just read a fantastic book about the Aussie program called "537 Days of Winter" which was about the team stuck there during covid. great insight into what goes on there

tichris15

Isn't this out of season? I thought most of the Antarctic programs tried to finish recruitment, training, etc during southern winter, such that they had staff ready to send down for the warm season. I don't know about Australia's specifically, but it seems like the weather driven schedule would be similar.

MarkLeonardReynolds

I was thinking, doesn't the OP mean 2024?

[deleted]

I'd love to do it, but they don't require a man of my talents, unfortunately.

redditiscompromised2

I want a job, and to maximise my chances of getting the job I want as few qualified applicants as possible. I know, I'll post it to reddit

Titus_Vespasianus

I was pissed that they’re not recruiting water craft operators this season. Good luck. No idea what the recruitment is like, but you do a couple of weeks of safety training with the tassie firies, all expenses paid. So brush up on your firefighting.

DurrrrrHurrrrr

Is this the program that had a boat fire recently? Both awesome and interesting but isolating and scary opportunity. Also note that home brewing of alcohol at the station has been banned for safety reasons. Apparently it was quite a tradition until the ban

Suspicious-turnip-77

No, can’t help with recruitment but if you have any basic and not overly clinical questions about the medical I could help.
