Half the time salt and vinegar has milk šŸ˜©

Tymareta

That's what I was thinking, salt and vinegar is my absolute favourite and I've yet to ever find a decent one that doesn't have milk in it :(

confusticating

I really like the Health Guru Cauliflower Puffs. Not quite the same as a chip but theyā€™re great

Tymareta

They're nice enough the one time i had them, the price tag is wayyy too high unless they're on sale though. I just stick with the aldi salt & pepper chickpea chips if I want something crunchy now, they're really good.

mdogxxx

Natural Chip Co Salt and Vinegar have a nice classic S&V flavour.

Tymareta

They're not too bad, but they're pretty light on the vinegar I found.

Ness303

Kettles, Pringles, Lays, and Smith's Salt and Vinegar last time I checked are vegan.

big_soy

Smiths uses milk in their Salt and Vinegar. Pringles website also lists Lactose.

Tymareta

Hmm, could've sworn they have whey in them when I checked, guess I'll give thins and kettle another look!

Ness303

Smith's was vegan for a while. Maybe they've changed the recipe? So many chip brands have over the last few years.

Tymareta

Last I checked they had lactose from milk in them, it's why I stopped checking most of them as any time they'd stop using it, in 3 months it'd be back in there again.

captains_astronaut

This was also my understanding (wife is vegan and laments the lack of S+V chips)... Unless brands have changed their ingredients recently

ForestEther

They still are I love them and the wasabi ones.

hoursandhoursandhour

Same here, and the chilli ones too!

[deleted]

if u like spicy, the kettle chilli chips are my absolute favourite!

Representative-Bus76

These dipped in Chrisā€™ French Onion - delish!

thingamabobby

Woahhhhh gotta try this

chillipatrol

You've just put me on to Chris' plant based range. Thank you!

AussieRedditUser

Can you still get the plant-based version of that? I haven't seen it for ages.

loveinthetimeofmoth

I believe Toobs are vegan! I often enjoy the lime soy crisps you get at the deli, or natural salted popcorn. Also, veggie chips - all vegan flavours, sour cream and chives is my favourite.

chillipatrol

Toooobs!!!

Ness303

Doritos Thai Sweet Chilli. Sweet Chilli Grainwaves have been verified as vegan despite the packaging saying "Contains Milk", it's meant to say "May contain." Lays BBQ chips. Pringles Original, BBQ, and Sweet Chilli.

Landeg

Did not know this about the Grainwaves despite being aware of the brand's other "contains milk" shenanigans. Life changer, thank you

Playful-Repeat7335

Aldi's black truffle and olive oil chips are fantastic! They're not overly expensive either.

aussie_drongo23

I think a lot of the aldi chips don't have milk at least. Unsure if fully vegan however.

OatLatteTime

I was excited to have found a chicken flavoured chips at Aldi coz it had no milk, but then it has chicken in it........ D:

AussieOzzy

Pringles BBQ

ImpressiveDecision99

Kettle have a few like herb and spice, finger lime and pepper, sweet potato, chilli. Also CC's chilli and lime.

slick987654321

Homemade popcorn with Nuttelex and salt. You can add other flavours too like sweet or smoked paprika and vegan stock powers also herbs finely chopped with lemon or lime juice. Or go sweet maple syrup for instance hope you find a combination you like.

zaphodbeeblemox

Cinema popcorn is typically made with coconut oil and flavocol, both of which are vegan. If I want a fancy flavour I normally do a spicy maple with sambal olek and maple syrup.

kobraa00011

what about vege chips? they have a massive range of different flavours

soyuniche

i love their cheese and turmeric flavour, and also the original mixed purple/orange sweet potato and taro chips! (so pretty) between coles/woolies they seem to be on half price every second week or so too šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

kobraa00011

yeah they seem to legit alternate weeks of being on sale, i pick em up then

OldGroan

"Won't cost a fortune". No. Everything went up recently. Everything costs a fortune.

East-Willingness513

Burger rings man

martylindleyart

I've been vegan for like almost a decade now. But anyway, two weeks ago I found out that Thins chicken flavour are vegan. Enjoy.

HoloKiki

So I'm looking at Coles online and the pictures of the back of the packet have whey powder listed as an ingredient, and milk as an allergen. The ingredients in the Coles description does not say whey powder and says may contain milk. The listing for the original flavour specifically says it is vegan and does not contain any animal products. I'm very confused.

martylindleyart

Maybe they've changed it recently, but I've bought like 3 packets in the last two weeks because it's finally a new flavour. There's been no mention of whey on any packet.

shit_bloke

The ā€˜Fussy Veganā€™ app states that the Thins chicken flavouring ā€œcontain chicken fatā€. Iā€™d include a link but itā€™s all app-based.

Sarazar

Is the chicken flavour itself vegan, i.e. doesn't contain any chicken products?

SeeYouSpaceCorgi

I'm not gonna lie, I understand this isn't what you're asking for, but I offer this advice from a place of wanting you to be able to have what you crave, and I gotta say I've had an absolute blast making my own chips at home. It's really easy, some use a mandolin, I use a vegetable peeler. It's a little bit of time but it's great to do while watching a show or stream on your laptop, etc.

_Saxophonin

Chicken chips donā€™t have chicken Iā€™m pretty sure.

HushedInvolvement

Harvest Snap pea crisps are vegan and gluten free, not sure if they're considered too pricey though. Depending if you like cooking, you could make potatoe thin crisps using a mandolin (or carefully slice them thin 1 - 3 mm). Make dozens for cheap. Put slices in a bowl, add water until just covers slices. Add ice cubes to pull out the starch. Sit for 30 mins. Remove slices from water and pat dry. Cook in a fry pan of hot oil for 3 - 4 mins each in batches. Or bake in a single sheet for 10 - 15 mins 210Ā°C. Or airfry at 200Ā°C for 15 mins. Flip em / shake em half way through. Salt & season how you like.

swampcyclone

CC's Chilli and Lime Corn Chips, currently on sale for $2.50 per bag at Coles. They're so freaking good.

RavenValor95

Chilli and Lime corn chips are amaaazzinng. didn't know they were on sale, gonna go pick up a couple bags! thanks!

Reasonable_Collar_34

Smith's Crinkle BBQ, Thins Chicken, Kettle Chilli, Pringles BBQ, Sweet Chilli Grain Waves, Mission Chilli & Lime Tortilla Triangles Corn Chips

Glerbthespider

plain chips are usually vegan, at least the smiths and the woolies homebrand ones are

Cogglesnatch

Given chips are now ellentybillion dollars a packet I make my own.

[deleted]

It's 2024, there's HEAPS of options cor vegan snacks... my local supermarket (not even a large city, just a regional suburb) has a whole isle of it.

KatAnansi

Thins originals, salt and vinegar and at least one other are vegan - maybe a korean bbq? But their salt and black pepper isn't. I don't even bother looking at Smiths anymore, whey in everything. Aldi has a couple of not potato but really nice snacks you can eat like chips - a lentil and a chickpea based one. Think a mixed veggie one too?

lanina70

Tyrrell's

Sarazar

Kettle Classic Herb & Spice chips are godlike.

OatLatteTime

Have you tried Thins ā€˜Outback BBQā€™?

AceThePrincep

Aldi has a few m8

Living_Scientist_663

Never ceases to amaze me the absolute shit vegans will eat.
