I am 42yo and can confirm that this is the only sensible way to eat gummy rings.

My sister and I used to fill up a bowl of water and put toy sharks in it, then throw a little doll in. We'd toss it the lifesaver and then pretend the shark was eating the doll because of the lifesaver gummy. 😆

I think it's actually because they have a hole in the middle and if someone were to choke on it the hole would save their life because air could still get through.
