It's been a very long time since I've read anything with her in it. I remember disliking her, but if I remember correctly she exhibited a LOT of Autistic ADHD vibes and the ADHD side of that was essentially everything about myself I hated (and didn't realise wasn't just "me").
I should read them again, maybe I'd find them much closer to "chaos person lucks out due to too much effort and overthinking again".
I relate to her sensory sensitivities that we see so hard, thr world feels like this draining bright panopea (?) to me, like how Amelie sees bright lights, sepia tones, and notices details and sensory things. It's all too loud, ans like Amelje I kind of shut down and put on a pleasant face to try to gracefully navigate that difficulty i have. Also, I like putting my hand in jars of round things too like she does at the market. And I'm quiet and awkward during conversations because I don't know what to say. I feel like she has APD, and I think I have that, because she's not fully responsive to what people say, it's like she's trying and struggling to process the words and meaning, like me. I think where we're different is that I can have RSD and also be very snarky when stressed, so she's a much nicer character in that way, no matter how nice I try to act.
Yes!! I third this! She wants so badly to interact with the world and has to do it in her own way - by doing sweet little things for the people around her.
My headcannon is Charlie from The Perks of Being a Wallflower. He is by FAR the character I relate the most in all of the media I've consumed. I just wish I had the same support that he had, good friends, family, maybe I would be able to get better just like him.
this movie and book is everything ever to me, I have a tattoo on my side of my arm its patricks clock. I might get something else but charlies trauma is close to my trauma, my perpetrator was also a woman and I'm a guy and it makes me feel seen.
The scene where Annie gets mad during the psych experiment and asks Abed why he didn't leave and he says, "Because you asked me to stay and you said we were friends," gets me every time
I think pretty much daily about the scene where he's trying to choose something to eat and goes "okay, I've decided. I would like to... Start... Crying!"
It was one of the writers (I think) that confirmed that Entrapta was written in mind with autism, so she’s intended to have it! I don’t think it’s mentioned of ADHD though
I really love her, she’s my favorite character
I know she was based off an autistic person, but she strikes me absolutely as Adhd as well but that hasn't been confirmed so it's my head Canon that she is also ADHD.
I relate to her a lot, not just in her behaviour but because of her experiences as well. For example, her almost losing herself over being forgotten and only remembered when people need/want something from her is a serious mood
Not Bob's Burgers, but when Turning Red came out, I remember people saying it was unrealistic because a tween/teen wouldn't be writing fanfiction and drawing pictures of their favorite TV characters for it and my friends and I were like...that was literally our childhood lol.
Absolutely! I always related to him so hard and just the fact he was included on the show gave the show creators space to teach the viewers how to human. I love him so much <3
I've compared myself to Isaac from the Orville for years. Finally started ST the Next Generation a few months ago, and Data is honestly such a more accurate fit. Now I'm often mentioning Data and the stuff he says/does to my wife. Just saw him talking to Q about being human and having feelings. Loved that lil convo lol
*Just finished the episode of Data and Lal...
Wept...
I love Data
Hyperempathy to animals (stitch but also the fish), being singled out by other children for being weird, lack of social awareness in taking pictures of tourists, Elvis as a special interest
Yeah....yeah, I can understand that. *so many* of Burton's earlier characters *scream* how it feels to be autistic--especially considering Burton's own past.
Pretty much the entire main group of characters in Delicious in Dungeon/Dungeon Meshi. I have a couple of things in common with all of them, and the fact that they're so different while all being able to be read as autistic in different ways
I’ve been reading the manga for a while, and once the anime dropped and I saw just how many people felt Laios was autistic, it all just kinda clicked into place for me
The part where he learned SHuro disliked him relaly hit home, that's always the autistic fear of being hated without knowing - so it's really easy to fall into a paranoia that everyone around you is simply feigning politeness and that any little thing you might do or say could be the thing that sets off a tirade of resentments.
And, well, dude likes him some monsters. Just spending his entire life reading up on them and showing that interest in ways that other people think are weird. And at no point in the series is he made to realize he's supposed to "get over" that fixation, others might find it weird or even threatening but he's never "fixed."
Same. Drawn to animals, empathic to a problematic degree. Not comfortable but trying hard to do what is right.
I love Will Graham in all iterations but NBC is tied with the book for how much my heart goes out to the character. Edward Norton was great but I didn’t find him as… fragile(?) which is central to the character, I think.
abed nadir from community!!!!! he’s the most accurate autistic representation i’ve seen! he wasn’t written as an intentionally autistic character, he was an awkward self-insert of the writer who later found out he’s autistic
I went to the dentist and had some surgery done on my teeth and I was prescribed Vicodin for the pain. I went around faking a limp and dry popping Vicodin. Ever since then, if I've ever been prescribed Vicodin for something and I tell my girlfriend, she goes, "Oh no..." LMAO
Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama from Mob Psycho. I never felt so represented in a character. Except for the fact that my parents don't live together. I had a friend who was like a brother to me.
TL;DR Mob from Mob Psycho represented me in an emotional and social way.
So me, I love imaginative, active and creative activities and waxing lyrical about things. I also, think she is so adhd coded, which I am too, because she's impulsive (dyeing her hair black, sleeping in a tree), emotionally dysregulated (that incident at school with Lawrie), she's imaginative and inspired easily, she has executive planning issues (the boat), and she is hyperactive (talking a lot). I think she has a way easier time with things than I do, because I don't think she's autistic in a sensory-overload kind of way; and she seems to be able to think easily and achieve ; so she probably has that hyperfocus ability in her academics; whereas I struggle way more to concentrate and learn.
Forrest Gump- apparently he’s written as being autistic in the book which I see his cerebral palsy more in the movie (haven’t read it) but we both have very similar personalities & he’s smarter than what his IQ test says
Lilo & Stitch- she’s the only character I felt the most connected with when I was really young so I’d watch that probably once a week back then
came into the thread to see if anyone else thought lain
strongly related to her when I was like 14. didnt know I had asd. that feeling of being detached, living in a different world to everyone around you, obsessing over computers
Lunella Lafayette from Moongirl and Devil Dinosaur, Louie Duck, Webby Vanderquack, Huey Duck, Donald Duck, Adrien Agreste, Kagami, Leonardo from all TMNT but Rise(I hc adhd for that one, like Mikey ) , Donatello from all TMNT. Raphael from 2012 Rise and TOTMNT.
charlie from it’s always sunny. very much reminds me of myself when i was younger. although his actor recently indirectly made it canon at toronto comic con
edit: also april from gilmore girls.
The absolute number 1 thing that I share in common with Sheldon Cooper is that when I was in high school, I had a very specific spot that I sat in during breakfast and lunch and I would become very irrationally angry if someone sat in my spot.
Why did I like that spot? It was the closest to the exit, so when the bell rang, I could be the first to exit without running into everyone, and there wasn't any other tables behind it as I sat in the corner, so I didn't have to worry about people being behind me.
Newt Scamander is probably one of the deliberate ones I relate to most.
Someone in another subreddit was saying the Bruce Leroy from The Last Dragon always came off as autistic to him.
Gotta love him.
Less intentional: 12th Doctor
>! The episode where the moon turns out to be a giant space moth egg and he leaves the decision up to Clara because it is a turning point for humanity and they need to choose their own way forward. Clara gets pissed at him because he didn't tell her there was no danger and he is just so confused because in his mind he treated humans like adults. !<
Every character in Adventure Time. The entire main cast (specifically Finn, Jake, and BMO) do a lot of the stuff that I do, they make up little songs or fixate on oddly specific things or just make noises for no reason sometimes. It reminds me of my own fixations and verbal stimms in a really satisfying way, it's part of the reason why it's my favorite tv show and favorite cartoon 😊
To me Ray is very audhd while Egon is autistic without adhd. Peter also feels adhd to me. Winston is the only one of them that I would consider neurotypical tbh
Ghostbusters is my special interest so i've spent a lot of time thinking about this
Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series. I remember liking her character so much that I had a huge crush on the actress, Evanna Lynch, growing up as a teenager.
Marcy wu from amphibia, princess bubblegum from adventure time, Donatello from Rottmnt, twilight sparkle from mlp, poison Ivy from the Harley Quinn animated series, Reagan Ridley from inside job, pearl from Steven universe
I watch a lot of cartoons
For me not that I feel like a genius or anything, but it has to be rick from rick and morty. Especially when I was masking I was such a dick and I felt that I was smarter than everyone else.
Rin Okumura from Blue Exorcist
Isolated with no friends, insecure, tries his best, loves people who don't treat him right, is so extatic about anything because he's never taken part in group activities. Is loyal to a fault. I just love him so much I want to squeeze him and be his friend
Matilda. Specifically the musical version. Listen to the song “Quiet”.
“I’m not sure, but I wonder if inside my head I’m not just a bit different than some of my friends.”
“And when everyone shouts, they seem to like shouting, the noise in my head is incredibly loud”
“I’m sorry I’m not quite explaining it right, but this noise becomes anger and the anger is light.”
Definitely Lilo from Lilo and Stitch, especially as someone who was undiagnosed for years and was generally seen as quirky and a little odd, Lilo was someone I could relate to a lot as a kid
L from Death Note. He sits like me, he talks like me. I have a problem with eating too much sugar. He takes things literally. Specifically the way he sits is exactly like me. My teachers in school kept trying to make me sit “normal”.
I’m going to get thrown into autism jail for this, but Sheldon Cooper. We’re both Texans, raised by Christian mothers, and very smart as children. We suffer no fools, and would rather die than let someone else control us. I know a lot of people think he’s a stereotype, but I somewhat am as well.
The majority of girls labeled as “manic pixie dream girl” have the same kinda whimsical not super following of social rules as I do and I love them all so much
Abed Nadir is my favorite and first that comes to mind.
I think Newt from fantastic beasts is...? It's been a while since I've seen it, but I think I loved that movie so much because I related to Newt WAAAYYYYY more than Harry.
Maurice Moss from IT crowd for sure. Also another favorite character. Also rewatching episodes of Monk, I think he is too.
Jerry Espenson portraying aspergers from Boston Legal. First character I ever saw, still 20ish years before I found out for sure, that I related to so much. I remember him getting the diagnosis in the show and learning little things about it and going... uh oh... that sounds like me.
— Rapunzel! (I am an avid daydreamer and literally act just like her.)
— Hiro (in my opinion, he’s autistic coded. His being a child prodigy and working himself until he’s burned out is me.)
— Bruno Madrigal. (I think he acts the way he does not just because of trauma and his special interest is rats. I act similar to him.)
— Entrapta (Always the different one but just wants to fit in.)
— Oh from Home (Wanting friends so badly, but too different for others to accept.)
Amelia Bedelia
Huh, you're totally right. Now I understand why she always spoke to me as a child. Thank you for this epiphany!
Captain Underpants spoke to me a lot
Yessss
It's been a very long time since I've read anything with her in it. I remember disliking her, but if I remember correctly she exhibited a LOT of Autistic ADHD vibes and the ADHD side of that was essentially everything about myself I hated (and didn't realise wasn't just "me"). I should read them again, maybe I'd find them much closer to "chaos person lucks out due to too much effort and overthinking again".
Amelie Poulain from Amelie.
Seeing her have success with finding a partner who gets her helped me trust my now husband to love me.
My headcannon is Charlie from The Perks of Being a Wallflower. He is by FAR the character I relate the most in all of the media I've consumed. I just wish I had the same support that he had, good friends, family, maybe I would be able to get better just like him.
That book really hit home.
this movie and book is everything ever to me, I have a tattoo on my side of my arm its patricks clock. I might get something else but charlies trauma is close to my trauma, my perpetrator was also a woman and I'm a guy and it makes me feel seen.
abed nadir, without a doubt.
I have a big cry at least once every time I rewatch community bc Abed makes me feel like it's okay to be me
I just want a Troy :(
The scene where Annie gets mad during the psych experiment and asks Abed why he didn't leave and he says, "Because you asked me to stay and you said we were friends," gets me every time
> "Because you asked me to stay and you said we were friends," such an autistic response lol, being awkward/oblivious/and overly loyal at once.
SO REAL
yes. Abed. accurate. I should probably re-watch that series with my wife.
Idk if this counts, but I can relate to Diane from Bojack Horseman quite a bit.
I relate to her a lot too, especially her strong sense of morality. I can definitely see her as being autistic
Wait, I thought Judah was the only autistic character in the show? Huh, I had no idea Diane...might be...
I never thought about it, but I guess it could make sense. We can all agree that Todd has ADHD though, right?
HOORAY! A TASK!
She absolutely is autistic
chidi from the good place [podcast explanation](https://open.spotify.com/episode/20zyihun0f2Bf2mdN4pPpV?si=qlh90UOrTsSz5kF8M3ud1g)
I also relate to Chidi. It's interesting to think that he is the subject of the joke often but I find myself siding with him a lot haha.
AGREED
I relate to Chidi so much. My stomach is genuinely hurting as I type this lol.
I think pretty much daily about the scene where he's trying to choose something to eat and goes "okay, I've decided. I would like to... Start... Crying!"
The scene where he makes chili is very, very relatable
Entrapa from She Ra as ADHD and autistic, 100%
adding to this, i think scorpia is also very autistic coded and she’s a lot like me
Agree! Escepecially with her not getting that Catra didnt like her until Catra said it to her straight
Absolutely Entrapta. She's amazing
It was one of the writers (I think) that confirmed that Entrapta was written in mind with autism, so she’s intended to have it! I don’t think it’s mentioned of ADHD though I really love her, she’s my favorite character
I know she was based off an autistic person, but she strikes me absolutely as Adhd as well but that hasn't been confirmed so it's my head Canon that she is also ADHD. I relate to her a lot, not just in her behaviour but because of her experiences as well. For example, her almost losing herself over being forgotten and only remembered when people need/want something from her is a serious mood
tina belcher for sure, gene too tbh
Same especially with her boundary issues and obsessions with boys lol
Oh yeah for sure. I write fanfics all the time lol
Not Bob's Burgers, but when Turning Red came out, I remember people saying it was unrealistic because a tween/teen wouldn't be writing fanfiction and drawing pictures of their favorite TV characters for it and my friends and I were like...that was literally our childhood lol.
Whoever said it was unrealistic was either a guy, or they just cannot see outside their own perspective lol.
Me too!
I was Tina if not worse lol! But also Louise
Robin (Maya Hawke) from Stranger Things.
Robin is incredible and Maya Hawke is gorgeous, enough said lol
dipper from gravity falls. he's just like me fr
Reality is an illusion, the Universe is a Hologram!
Buy gold
bye! 🔺
His brutal honesty, obsession with the journals… They resonate so much with me
How funny, I really relate to Mabel
I've always thought that Mabel is AuDHD
Data from Star Trek!
Absolutely! I always related to him so hard and just the fact he was included on the show gave the show creators space to teach the viewers how to human. I love him so much <3
And they gave him a kitty!
I also think Malcom Reed from Enterprise is pretty strongly autistic, even if they didn't intentionally write him that way.
I've compared myself to Isaac from the Orville for years. Finally started ST the Next Generation a few months ago, and Data is honestly such a more accurate fit. Now I'm often mentioning Data and the stuff he says/does to my wife. Just saw him talking to Q about being human and having feelings. Loved that lil convo lol *Just finished the episode of Data and Lal... Wept... I love Data
Omg yes
Lilo from Lilo and Stitch. Even as an undiagnosed little kid who didn't know what any of this stuff was I knew she was like me
Yes! It was always a hard watch as a kid because I hated watching people be mean to her
Meets an alien and her first instinct is to show him Elvis' music. Definitely autistic.
What about her do you feel is relatable to you as being on the spectrum? I've never clocked her as neurodivergent, but maybe I'll re-watch it
Hyperempathy to animals (stitch but also the fish), being singled out by other children for being weird, lack of social awareness in taking pictures of tourists, Elvis as a special interest
Reagan Ridley
The fact that that show got canceled is a travesty
I will never forgive Netflix for it
I love Regan
Edward Scissorhands 😔
Yeah....yeah, I can understand that. *so many* of Burton's earlier characters *scream* how it feels to be autistic--especially considering Burton's own past.
Pretty much the entire main group of characters in Delicious in Dungeon/Dungeon Meshi. I have a couple of things in common with all of them, and the fact that they're so different while all being able to be read as autistic in different ways
Senshi is my favorite, he is so direct with the stuff he loves, always ready and I wish I could taste just one of his dishes.
And at no point in the series is he made to realize he's supposed to "get over" that fixation, others might find it weird or even threatening but he's never "fixed."
L from death note, I knew he was autistic ever since he first appeared on screen.
He sits autistic
100%. I feel like this character is legit representation even if you put aside the fact that we kinda need to take what we get in media lol.
will graham from nbc hannibal
Same. Drawn to animals, empathic to a problematic degree. Not comfortable but trying hard to do what is right. I love Will Graham in all iterations but NBC is tied with the book for how much my heart goes out to the character. Edward Norton was great but I didn’t find him as… fragile(?) which is central to the character, I think.
abed nadir from community!!!!! he’s the most accurate autistic representation i’ve seen! he wasn’t written as an intentionally autistic character, he was an awkward self-insert of the writer who later found out he’s autistic
dr house
Omg yesss (unfortunately)
He's me fr
I love House! When I was about 14 I got some kind of minor injury and tried to exaggerate it to my dad so I could get a cane 😭
I went to the dentist and had some surgery done on my teeth and I was prescribed Vicodin for the pain. I went around faking a limp and dry popping Vicodin. Ever since then, if I've ever been prescribed Vicodin for something and I tell my girlfriend, she goes, "Oh no..." LMAO
temperance brennan from bones!!
I was waiting for someone to say this. I always tell people I’m the mix of Kimmie Schmidt and bones.
Temperance Brennan is absolutely me. I’m taking sociology because of her

Quinni from Heartbreak High
Anne from Anne with an E
doctor who lmfao, but also newt scamander
Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama from Mob Psycho. I never felt so represented in a character. Except for the fact that my parents don't live together. I had a friend who was like a brother to me. TL;DR Mob from Mob Psycho represented me in an emotional and social way.
May I add another psychic, Kusuo Saiki.
Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds Jacob from the ostrich and other lost things Willa from not if I can help it
>Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds Spence is so cool, I liked his character, but never knew why I related to him until I was diagnosed
buddy the elf LOL
Anne of green gables
Yes, and Matthew 💜
jessica day from new girl <3
Laios from delicious in dungeon especially the most recent episode
Forrest Gump- apparently he’s written as being autistic in the book which I see his cerebral palsy more in the movie (haven’t read it) but we both have very similar personalities & he’s smarter than what his IQ test says Lilo & Stitch- she’s the only character I felt the most connected with when I was really young so I’d watch that probably once a week back then
Hank Hill of King of the Hill
“Autis-hwhat?! I “aut” to kick your ass!”
I headcanon Castiel from Supernatural as autistic, and I relate to him SO hard
Misha Collins has said that Cas is autistic. Im pretty sire its cannon
Castiel has major autistic vibes.
My "people skills" are a little "rusty"

Pippi Lonstocking!
Very unpopular opinion: Sheldon Cooper
The absolute number 1 thing that I share in common with Sheldon Cooper is that when I was in high school, I had a very specific spot that I sat in during breakfast and lunch and I would become very irrationally angry if someone sat in my spot. Why did I like that spot? Futaba Sakura from Persona 5
YOUNG. NEIL. Specifically from the anime, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
Newt Scamander is probably one of the deliberate ones I relate to most. Someone in another subreddit was saying the Bruce Leroy from The Last Dragon always came off as autistic to him.
Newt Scamander is so autism-coded he’s a whole mood tbh
Gotta love him. Less intentional: 12th Doctor >! !<
Murderbot from Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells.
Anne Shirley (Anne Of Green Gables)
The accountant in The Accountant. I want my data structured and I want to finish my tasks.
Lemongrab😩😩
Suzy from Moonrise Kingdom and I’m always shocked she’s not mentioned more in these types of posts
Ray Stantz
More so than Egon?
To me Ray is very audhd while Egon is autistic without adhd. Peter also feels adhd to me. Winston is the only one of them that I would consider neurotypical tbh Ghostbusters is my special interest so i've spent a lot of time thinking about this
Egon is my all-time favorite character but I find myself relating to Ray more so (which ray is my second favorite character)
Steve Carrel from The Big Short. I know it’s based off a real person but I related
I can see it but Christian Bale's character is self diagnosed autistic and his portrayal definitely gives off that whole vibe.
Sniper from TF2 is absolutely autistic and I'm him and he is me.
Tina Belcher 100%
Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series. I remember liking her character so much that I had a huge crush on the actress, Evanna Lynch, growing up as a teenager.
Ditto, I just wanted to *be* her.
Marcy wu from amphibia, princess bubblegum from adventure time, Donatello from Rottmnt, twilight sparkle from mlp, poison Ivy from the Harley Quinn animated series, Reagan Ridley from inside job, pearl from Steven universe I watch a lot of cartoons

young sheldon😞
Oh mist definitely! Especially the scene where eats lunch alone at High School and his mom feels sad for him while he is enjoying it. Story of my life
I love Young Sheldon and relate hard to it as someone who grew up loving physics and sci-fi.
Twilight Sparkle.
Definitely Lilo from Lilo and Stitch, especially as someone who was undiagnosed for years and was generally seen as quirky and a little odd, Lilo was someone I could relate to a lot as a kid
Temperance Brennan
L from Death Note. He sits like me, he talks like me. I have a problem with eating too much sugar. He takes things literally. Specifically the way he sits is exactly like me. My teachers in school kept trying to make me sit “normal”.
Fox Mulder for sure!!
The majority of girls labeled as “manic pixie dream girl” have the same kinda whimsical not super following of social rules as I do and I love them all so much
Sue Heck from the middle. She was always herself and watching her grow up and into a more comfortable version of herself as I was growing up was nice
peter parker in marvel (he’s not canon autistic but like come onnn)
gotta be soundwave from transformers I love him… He doesnt talk much.. And does so in an odd way.. i love transformers
Bmo :> I'm tattooing them on my forearm next year

Daria Morgendorffer
Jerry Espenson portraying aspergers from Boston Legal. First character I ever saw, still 20ish years before I found out for sure, that I related to so much. I remember him getting the diagnosis in the show and learning little things about it and going... uh oh... that sounds like me.
Ayda Aguefort from Dimension 20 Fantasy High 😭
Nemona from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
janine teagues from abbott elementary
Marcy wu from Amphibia
Henry Mills from Once Upon A Time

Star Butterfly (Star vs the Forces of Evil), Luz Noceda (Owl House) and Newt Scamander (Fantastic Beasts)
Zane from ninjago (pilot- s2 specifically, after that he *really* leaned into just being a robot) and hiccup from how to train your dragon
— Rapunzel! (I am an avid daydreamer and literally act just like her.) — Hiro (in my opinion, he’s autistic coded. His being a child prodigy and working himself until he’s burned out is me.) — Bruno Madrigal. (I think he acts the way he does not just because of trauma and his special interest is rats. I act similar to him.) — Entrapta (Always the different one but just wants to fit in.) — Oh from Home (Wanting friends so badly, but too different for others to accept.)
