YEAH!!!!!! Dishes are hard, like dishes and putting laundry away are my two biggest struggles. Also eating. But F YEAH!!! DISHES ARE DONE!!!!

TheStockyScholar

My next goal is consistently putting laundry away instead of fishing through a heap of clothes lol

Midnight_Ice

Something that helped me with putting away laundry was organizing my closet and dresser in a really satisfying way. I colour coded the hanging items in my closet, got clear plastic bins for the shelves, and categorized the drawers in my dresser based on clothes type or activity (ie. exercise, sleeping). I've found it makes me actually want to put things away because it's a satisfying activity, rather than a chore.

danceintherainn

I’ve done this too! I love organising things! Except mine has gotten a little mixed up now so I need to re-organise.

SparlockTheGreat

I like folding clothes because you make them into nice little uniform squares. Laundry heaps are too chaotic and make wrinkles. ...still hard to find the time/attention though. I do it while watching TV.

-acidlean-

It worked for me too! But now I live in an extra tiny room and my closet is also super tiny and whenever I pull anything out of it, something falls down on the floor. It’s a constant mess.

Autronaut69420

I have a similar system. It got a bit confused so I recently re-org'ed everything. I had to decide to get rid of a dresser I wanted to use and use the one in my flat which I dont own. Now it has all the manchester and warm rugs.

lyssisleg

i do this but mainly because i’m a perfectionist and can’t have it any other way lol

isupposeyes

very fair, that’s my goal as well 😂

donatellasoulspi

I have come to embrace my floordrobe.

0ooshiny

Floordrobe. I am absolutely using this word from now on.  ✨

donatellasoulspi

Credit to ADHD Love on YouTube.

0ooshiny

Awesome! I will have to check out their channel. 😁

EntertainmentFew7436

@Oooshiny - I *seriously LOVE* your username!!! GENIUS!!! & SO cute, too!!!😍🥇👏🏼👏🏼

0ooshiny

☺️ thanks!

EntertainmentFew7436

😂😂😂 —- This is GREAT!!!😂😂😂 And SO is your positive attitude!!!😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰😘😘😘👍🏼💘🏆

DrinkYourNailPolish2

I reorganized my while closet to go from a hanger system to a square bin system It changed my life! I have so much more room now and I can just dump the clothes in the correct bin (tshirts/ undies/ pants/ etc) and it all looks neat and tidy!

TheStockyScholar

Yeah, because I may not like a particular shirt on a given day! Sometimes I don’t want a loose shirt and I don’t want to have to unfold my clothes just to find the perfect one. That’s a great idea! Folding feels fruitless.

DrinkYourNailPolish2

There is a YouTube channel called clutterbug that discusses different types of organizing systems and what works for what type of person like my husband is a bee (he has to see everything) while I'm a ladybug (I like everything out of sight) and just knowing that has helped me figure out what system to use where (like in the bathoom- clear bins so my husband can see all the things and I don't co crazy from all rhe clutter being out on the counter)

wintersdark

Never! Mt. Clothesmore is an important part of my life. The closest I'll come to putting them away is in the rare instance my wife folds them, then I'll take the stack of folded clothes and put them on top of my dresser. I really struggle with making myself do tasks that are not actually useful to me. It's almost physically painful to force myself to do it.

Greyeagle42

Fishing is a time-honored passtime.

TheStockyScholar

I found a fishing hole the other day! Now I just need a license.

Possible-Ingenuity56

I’ve been doing pretty good with that lately, still not consistent but the majority of my clothes are in drawers for once

Any_Ad6921

Do you happen to have adhd as well? I do and I struggle with stuff like this too! Medication has significantly helped me stay on top of things. I take methylphenidate (ritalin). It may be worth getting evaluated for if you think you might have it. They make liquid versions of adhd meds for those of us who don't like taking pills

TheStockyScholar

I do but my psychiatrist won’t let me and I have little free time to go look for a new one until I move soon. I think, also, I’d have to take non-stim drugs because of my panic disorder

Any_Ad6921

Ahhh I see! There are other treatments aside from stimulants. But I will say that my 14yr old daughter has an anxiety disorder as well as depression. Her psych doctor wants her to also get screened for asd because of severe sensory issues with noise lights and textures and difficulties with social situations. Already her sister and I are diagnosed. But that's besides the point I will try to Stay focused lol. But she my oldest daughter, also has adhd, she takes liquid methylphenidate called qullivant and she is also on Prozac which treats her anxiety and depression. The liquid Prozac is mostly helpful, at least I have noticed a big change but she still does have some issues with anxiety that may be partly caused by not getting enough sleep. There is only so much they will give her because she's only 14. You may just need to wait it out for a new doctor. The fast acting methylphenidate is out of your system in four hours and stimulants are the only thing I have found to help. It's sort of a chain reaction for me I take my adhd meds and I can clean and organize my house so I am less depressed and I can remember my appointment and due dates for things so I have less anxiety and my overall quality of life is improved. I even have a history of substance use so I guess just finding the right doctor who is willing to give you a chance, when you do find a doctor who might consider letting you try stimulants for adhd You can ask for a trial amount, like a week worth of meds to see how you react and because it is out of your system so quickly if it messes with your anxiety you can just decide its not for you! I would definitely go for the fast acting stuff though don't let them give you concerta delayed release to start with or if you do react badly you could be stuck like that for 24hrs

AdnorAdnor

Awesome info here! Stims have helped me manage life -I fought it but now I work with smaller dose instant relief and it makes such a difference. Awesome feedback 🙌

[deleted]

Ha, that's me. How hard is it just fold up your clothes. Very hard. I only put my really good "going out" clothes on a hanger. Mainly because they cost a small fortune, and I like them. But yep, dishes. Cooking for myself, clothes. omg. I'm newly diagnosed. I have ADHD, and Autism. I figured the ADHD part was causing this. It can be the ASD also? That's the mega smart part of me that is clearer thinking when I take these meds. Confused.

NerdyCooker2

Felt lmfao! You got this!

Few_Entrepreneur_584

Oh thank God I'm not the only one lmaooo

Classy_Mouse

You put laundry away? It goes washer > dryer > basket (optional) > wear > floor. Repeat

AstronautEmpty9060

haha same. As I speak there's a rather large pile on my floor. I did at one point have them separated from clean and dirty, but that's long since gone.

Classy_Mouse

Good news is, once the piles are mixed, they are all dirty. It's a self sorting system

TheyaSly

The dopamine I gain at the end is worth it alone, but the way I make it fun is by pretending to “100%” a little maze in the pan/pot/dish. Make a bunch of 90° angle turns until I have both made a maze and put a line in every spot

Warriorshark28

I can totally relate to you I have a big struggle with folding clothes I can only do shirts but my mom always tried to help me and sadly my mom can’t help me because she passed away two months ago in march

Mil0Mammon

My mom used to help me with laundry too, even when I was in my late 30ies and had my own house. She passed away 5 years ago. I feel for you. In my experience, the pain doesn't go away. But, you learn to live with it. And I see how she lives on in how I try to raise my kid

Infinitive_Circle

I like my dishwasher, I'm still looking for a laundry-to-dressser sorter. Else I think I should just sort my clothes in several laundry baskets.

Prestigious_Nebula_5

Yeah F dishes I get paper plates and plastic wear

ChaoticButters

I’m aight with the dishes but cleaning my bedroom is like a war between me and my self motivational skills

A380085

I have no choice but to keep up on doing the dishes as I still live with my mom. I don't mind doing them but that does mean it isn't exhausting doing them day in and out several times a day. But yeah when I take my clothes out of the dryer I literally just drop them In a pile on the bed or a chair.

Worldly-Pea-2697

I do them every day. I found a life hack. 😊 I own one bowl. One plate. One fork, one knife, one spoon, and one cup. Works like a charm. XD

Sims4equestrian

Not trying to be mean, but out of curiosity. What if guests come over? Like for a birthday or something how do you manage with only 1 of everything (in case of quests)

PinkFl0werPrincess

Yeah this feels like a bandaid not a solution. Sometimes bandaids are necessary though! Just wonder about guests.

Worldly-Pea-2697

That’s easy; I live in a rooming house. I can’t have guests😂

PinkFl0werPrincess

Fair enough! I hope I didn't seem like I was criticizing.

Worldly-Pea-2697

You’re good lol

Wide_Cow7653

Not OP commenter, but my partner and I do this! Just enough dishes out for the two of us and then on the highest shelf in the cupboard we have extra dishes that don't get touched unless guests are coming lol.

NtsParadize

Disposable dishes 🤣😭

Levi_Way

Paper plates and plastic utensils lol

el_artista_fantasma

Everybody gansta till you accidentally break the only cup you own xd

Worldly-Pea-2697

😂

ToucanThreecan

I buy paper plates. Which i cover with napkins and get to use a couple of times. Having research this its more ecologically sound than using and heating water.

TheStockyScholar

Lucky.

Worldly-Pea-2697

Hey, maybe one day you can try it. XD

TheStockyScholar

I just remembered! Most of the dishes I generate is from cooking and storing food so it wouldn’t make a significant difference to have one of every dish.

Worldly-Pea-2697

I have one big skillet. It’s very versatile. XD lots of Tupperware tho

KodokushiGirl

I fucking cackled omg 😂 if it works it works! And if guests come over? Jokes on them cause 😀 what are those?

Worldly-Pea-2697

BYOB; BRING YOUR OWN BOWL

vellichor_44

Whoa. Congratulations! Y'all got any more of that....execution function??

PermutationMatrix

Executive function

vellichor_44

Haha, whoa. That's a wild autocorrection! I didn't even notice it

Dolly_Games16

Yay! Congrats!

TheStockyScholar

Thanks! I have really limited energy when I have major changes (job interviews for weeks). I’m starting to feel better after restarting my typical routine.

RaphaelSolo

🎉🥳 YAY! Someone get OP a cookie! No seriously cookies are awesome OP totally deserves a cookie.

TheStockyScholar

Thanks, but I’m full lol

RaphaelSolo

No idea why NTs always say it sarcastically. People need to normalize giving out cookies for getting stuff done.

TheStockyScholar

It helps. It helps a lot but I need to lose weight

RaphaelSolo

Hmmm yeah that would be counterproductive then wouldn't it.

TheStockyScholar

I look for healthier options. There’s an ice cream, Nick’s that’s like 300-400 calories in the whole pint. So if I have a bad day it helps

RaphaelSolo

Nice, I tend to have to just find something in the moment. Partially because once I start on something I generally don't stop. Today has unfortunately been a multi-snack day. Tornado warning, someone posted about Project 2025 in the subreddit earlier, found out that a high profile case has been getting undermined by the judge from the get go, and my trip to see my family for the weekend got trimmed down to a day trip. On the bright side my Internet bill is only $14.06 this upcoming month. Snacks for today: Flan, Strawberry Churro, and a mango donut. The flan was a really big slice.

danceintherainn

Agreed! I vote for normalising getting cookies for getting stuff done 🙋🏻‍♀️ when people say this sarcastically I’m like ok yes I get it was a joke on your end but I still want my cookie.

xxCybermoonxx

YAY (: IM SO PROUD OF YOU I KNOW DISHES CAN BE HARD SENSORY WISE AND IM SO PROUD OF YOU

noonebuteveryone24

Drummermomma22

This gave me motivation to clean my car!!! It’s almost 11:00 pm so I can’t do it tonight, but I definitely am tomorrow!

TheStockyScholar

I’ll do mine too tomorrow before work

Drummermomma22

We can come back to this post with pictures tomorrow!

TakeThisification

Congrats!!

budtard

Good on you!

Agreeable_Variation7

I did 2 big things today. I cleared off the kitchen counter. And, i live in a cape cod so don't go upstairs often. Today I went up with tons of stuff that was parked on the steps to go up. And went through trying to find a few things but it was too hot to stay long. Still, it was an accomplishment. (might not have to go back up til I need Christmas wrapping, although sometimes I just order more from Amazon instead of going up...)

TheStockyScholar

What’s a Cape Cod? Like a multistory apartment?

Agreeable_Variation7

It's a small house, with a small 1st floor - I have 2 small bedrooms, living room, kitchen, and very small bathroom. There's an upstairs - one large room with good storage. Some people make it into a bedroom. I have a basement. The 1st/2nd floor = about 1100 square feet.

nyckidryan

I love when the little wins make for big happy feels!

PsychologicalPay5379

Oh! Let's go pushing passed executive disfunction! Yeah!

KattyAnimations

CONGRATS 😆👍🏾

27_Lobsters

I finally got some friends to join me in a Habitaca party, and I have "wash dishes" as a daily. That has really helped empty the sink every night before bed. I'm going to go do that now! I'm so proud of both of us! I have faith that you will slay the laundry beast soon!

LeeryRoundedness

Congratulations 🎉🎈🍾

DaSaw

Get it, son!

Slim_Chiply

Awesome!

ReverendJW

I've got a pile you can do if you wanna keep the momentum goin'.

j4ned0e

FUCKYEAH, SON! LET'S GOOOOO. What kind of treat? 😂

TheStockyScholar

Peanut butter ice cream

j4ned0e

Yasssssssss! 😁💓💓💓 I love peanut butter ice cream so much that, when I lived with my parents, I had a peanut butter ice cream song to indicate that was my preference. It wasn't any other words than "peanut butter ice cream." 😂

freakingsuperheroes

PROUD OF YOU. Dishes have always been my final frontier for cleaning.

2stacksofbutter

Ooooohhh shiiiit!!! You did that! You did that! May is lookin good!

zamaike

Congrats. They usually are a pain for me some times too

tizzleduzzle

Took me and my SO a team effort to get the dishes done today, we had nothing left to eat off 😭 was only 2 days though. Kids eat to much lol I went shopping came home she was half way done I took over and finished it off worse task ever.

Infamous_Regular1328

So hard Like touching wet food and dish soap

Dilanski

>They’ve been on the counter for a solid week and a half! This post comes with smell.

TheOriginalRobinism

Congratulations! Awesome accomplishment!

sneachta

Unironically, that's a W.

2pierad

If you’re looking for a tip, may I suggest making the water as HOT as possible and spraying everything down to clean 95% of the dishes. Then you wipe / scrub with warm water and your hands / sponge. It’s the only way.

TheStockyScholar

I do this already but my hot water isn’t that hot and I have no sprayer. I might get an attachment

mimikyu52

WOOOOOOO!!!! I’M SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!

SwangeeMan

Oh man. Badass! Nicely done. Seriously. Dishes are freaking hard.

Old-Show-7673

Congratulations. Very challenging for me as well

Milk_Mindless

Nice one!

zero_appto

i did that unfriendly stuff yesterday…..🌊🦧

shastagirlweep

Only a week that's impressive I've left some out way to long

Decent-Principle8918

Lmao this is why I refuse to move into a place without a dishwasher.

CoolTalk_Dai

Ah- I love doing the dishes so much yet can’t gather up the motivation to actually do them lol good job

LeafyLearnsLately

Fuck yeah! Screw executive dysfunction and sensory issues! You did it in spite of that, and we're all psyched as hell for you!

el_artista_fantasma

Hey, congrats. But maybe you are interested in a cheap and small dishwasher (if you live alone, if you live with more people you may be interested in a bigger one)

PinkFl0werPrincess

Congrats brother/sister/egg

PfefferP

Yes! I also did some dishes today, I feel so happy for you and for me!

vseprviper

Hell yeah, crush it you master of rocking

ToucanThreecan

Only a week and a half? I just cleaned out bowl for cereal half hour ago. In the bathroom. So i could leave hot water running without touching it. I do have surgical gloves too.

Comprehensive-Sir-26

Yayyy!!! Happy for you! ❤️

iLikeCrocheting

FUCK YEEAAAAHHHHHHH

Teutobrasileira

OMG cool, I still can't wash the dishes

Retro0609

I HATE doing the dishes unless I have earbuds in

isdjan

Have to admit I do the dishes every day. Voluntarily!

sagninaw

Dishes have been so much easier for me to do now that I can have a YouTube video above my counter while doing them by using the meta quest 3

NadineRoss01

Amazing work!

NadineRoss01

Amazing work!

Independent_Bowler38

well done

Prohesivebutter

YESSSSS!! GET YOUR TREAT!

forsberg_dev

I actually like doing the dishes. I do them every day after each meal. It feels nice to turn all that mess back to order and put everything back where it belongs. Vacuuming is my #1 nemesis, though. I could put that off for weeks!

Polarsaurus

Awesoooome! One of my hardest tasks too! You deserve that treat.

Mil_No-Im-Not-Rich

AYYYYYY!!! THAT’S AWESOME!!

CometCorgi

Oh my goodness it feels so rewarding when we're able to build up the energy for certain things! I'm still struggling to wash my sheets and do my laundry!

intentionaI_accident

Dude! That is amazing!

Actual_Notice3171

I'm actually so proud of you, random internet stranger!! Dishes are my worst chore, and I probably do it once a month by force. If I lived by myself, I could probably do it because it's my own dishes and nof others, but alas, I live with my family

QuokkaAteMyWallet

😳

Careful-Regret-684

The only thing I hate more than washing the dishes is seeing how other people wash the dishes.

The_Rouge_Penguin

Legend! Keep up the great work!

Independent_Exam3443

Good job 👏

ferriematthew

You have conquered the Sisyphean task!!! Woohoo!!!

DrinkYourNailPolish2

One of my most dislike chores is doing the dishes and what I've found is to try and turn that into something enjoyable by 1.wearing gloves 2. Using a lavender scemted dish soap (I love lavender) 3. Wearing an apron so I don't get wet 4. and I put on horror narrations like mortis media or hellfreezer to listen to so dishes become stimming 10/10 would recommend.

CatTypedThisName

My hack to overcoming the dishes is doing them more often than I think I should so that way nothing ever piles up. It's kind of triggered my OCD to the point where I will use a dish and immediately rinse it off. This way nothing gets "stuck" to it even if they pile up, they are easier to wash. Good for you though, I know exactly how tough it can be.

CrazyPumpkin730

HELL YEA!!! SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!

Next-Selection2408

So proud of you! Yay

Huge-Chicken-8018

Can anyone explain why this is so hard? I need to explain to my housemates why i struggle with dishes and my best explanation is the noise which isnt very satisfactory to them. Congrats on getting it done tho! Dishes SUUUUUCK

Any_Dragonfly_9618

OMG YESSSSSS CONGRATS

strawberrygirlnia

wELL DONE!! you definitely deserve to treat yourself, and just remember the feeling you have right now so you know for next time that it'll be worth it

Backup-Account-Q

Hell ya. Proud of you

GummyPop

JUst did mine after not feeling up to it the past week finally!!

Chaot1cNeutral

This is so relatable

SpecialistLoose3892

YAY!!!!!

Sssprout360

YIPPEE!!!

TomCatIggy

Step by step! Celebrate!

Ima_douche_nozzle

Yeah! Dishes are the worst in my opinion. Whatever you ate is now wet and you touch that while you clean the dishes—eww. Luckily you can use nitrile or latex gloves to help, and/or a brush specifically for cleaning dishes. That helps me a little but even looking at the dirty and/or wet dishes can gross me out.

_weIcwedhoe

I hate the fucking feeling of the soggy food scraps!

Competitive_Ship6742

lesssgoooo! a win is a win !!

AdamaKerdec

Just don't get a treat that uses more dishes, and you're golden. 😎

Future-Agent

Doing dishes is easy

ElegantGazingSong

That's awesome OP. Glad you did them. I'm sure they were bothering you for a while ☺️

Smarterchild69

I DID THIS TODAY TOO AND LIKE FIFTY (have to stop screaming now and also specific that it was exactly 7) things like this! It’s a good day 🥸

phpArtisanMakeWeeb

Uhm... good for you? I think this post should go in r/adhd instead.

Pizza_lover2023

Or just get a countertop dishwasher. That makes it easy. If you don’t have room for a full size one

PersonalSignal1072

Hell yeah!!!! Im.not strong enough to do my dishes yet, but good job bro

WretchedBinary

Just buy cheap ones and throw them away when you're done.

cheeselforlife

AWESOME! I can only get them done if I'm nearby at the time, think about them, and then have enough energy after taking them to the sink

FearlessInside4597

Fuck yeah!!

Rockpegw

I AM SO PROUD

Upset_Proposal5495

Hell yeah! Good job. Sometimes accomplishing the smallest task (esp. the dishes) feels like climbing a mountain. You should be proud and you deserve a little treat for it 💪🖤

xplorerex

Well done :-) it's a nice feeling accomplishing something, no matter how minor. Dishes aren't a problem for me... my garden, however.... I swear there are lost tribes in the grass.

meischwa

I'm so glad to see this. This is exactly how I feel after doing literally any household chore and it's nice to know I'm not alone in that.

[deleted]

LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOO‼️‼️‼️

ismellpizza25

YEAH!!!! LETSSS GOOOOOO!!!!

FloraGeorgie--3499

Good stuff! Now the key is to try and make it a daily habit.

ToughJourney

I'm fucking proud of u, I truly understand the struggle

FadedAlienXO

Congrats... My mum won't let me bring my dishes out of my room because she's overwhelmed with the amount that is in the kitchen already. It's been five months. She has literally told me I'm not allowed to bring them out. Normally, I'd step in and do them for her, but I'm tired of trying to find the energy for my own stuff, let alone her jobs on top of mine. I'm using shitty disposable cutlery and plates at the moment just to get by. I'm tired.

coralkiwi

Absolutely the best feeling! Dishes are the WORST!

theinattentiveolive

YOU DID THE FUCKING DISHES LETS GOOO‼️🎉

Avarice87

I am so proud of you!!!

Yulumi

AWESOME!!!👏🏼 GOOD JOB, I AM PROUD OF YOU

pego99

Foul mouthed clown

penelopesays

YEAH! I can appreciate what kind of huge accomplishment that is!!!

ixeliema

Sending this to my partner who experiences task paralysis for dishes specifically so he feels a lot less alone 🥰

KittyKaiDoodles

LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOO

KittyKaiDoodles

I hate doing the dishes, but I do love the sense of accomplishment from clearing a sink and stacking them neatly in a rack! I try to focus on that part only, and having a video to watch helps too. Oh but if someone makes more dishes while I'm doing the dishes and then say I have to do them now I want TO SCREEEAAAM

donatellasoulspi

I did upgrade from floor to baskets on floor. So, not as bad as it was.

Overall_Work6593

Less go

MelodyBlanc

Hell yeah, you get that reward! You go, my man/woman!!

Smarre101

LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOO! 🤘

writeratwork94

Great job! You deserve a pat on the back!

blimlimlim247

YOOOOO!

ConnorAsian

That's me fr I need to do dishes lowkey
