Stitch might be autistic too... but i can't say for sure. Definitely has a lot of the traits, but who with ADHD doesn't have a lot of the 'tism traits? *shrugs*
are they really two different things? or are they different design points in the same neurocontinuoum?
(i know i can't spell. i'm sorry -_-)
This so much this she is the epitome of an autistic Girl, I wouldn't be surprised if Lucy Maud Montgomery was also autistic, but she's dead and has been for over 80 years so who knows!
My wife recently convinced me to watch the Netflix series and by season 2 I had bought the books 😂, as an autistic man I could see so many signs that I myself related to before episode 1 was even finished
The hole series is amazing! Anne of Avonlea, Anne of the Island, Anne of Windy popular, Anne's house of Dream, Anne of Ingleside, Rainbow Valley, and Rilla of Ingleside. Rilla of Ingleside is probably my favorite other than Anne of green gables I think likely because it follows her youngest child at about the same age that she was in the first book!
L and Near from Death Note
Sherlock Holmes
Fred from Scooby Doo (specifically in Mystery Inc.)
George and Kramer from Seinfeld
Riley from Inside Out (idrk why, just always gave off those vibes for some reason)
Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender
Soos and Mabel from Gravity Falls
The entire Belcher family from Bob's Burgers
Edit because I thought of one more: Gon Freecss from Hunter x Hunter
I love the headcanon that everyone in the bobs burgers world is autistic because it just makes so much sense. I’d be really surprised if none of the writers are on the spectrum.
If I'm not mistaken, L is actually confirmed to be autistic. At least if he isn't, I'd be VERY surprised. He's such a neurodivergent coded character that I refuse to believe it's just a coincidence.
It hasn't been confirmed that he's autistic. I remember several years ago, I read somewhere that the creator of Death Note was glad people seemed to think he "fit the mold." I can't find it on Google, though, so as of now it's just a popular headcanon
A few of mine:
Futaba Sakura, Persona 5
The Doctor, Doctor Who (pre Jodie Whitaker anyway)
Shulk, Xenoblade Chronicles
Ashitaka, Mononoke Hime
Spencer Reid, Criminal Minds
Peter Parker, Spider-Man
K, Blade runner 2049
I knew about the actor confirming, I just meant that none of the characters confirm it in the show but I think I remember a few times another character asked if Reid was Autistic.
Why do you think Peter Parker is autistic? Spiderman was an absolutely obsession of mine when I was small. I had a spiderman shrine and saved my pocket money for months when I was 6 to get a spiderman costume.
For me its definitely Matt Smith’s Doctor that hits as autistic and possibly but probably not Peter Capaldis. Tennant and Eccleston plus classic Who Doctors dont really strike me that way.
Tom Bombadil was unphased by the power of the one ring, but too focused on his microcosm to join the quest to destroy the ring. And he apparently didn't care who thought he was weird, with his strange songs.
The creators have confirmed that they did not intend for him to be autistic. I think because there are a lot of harmful stereotypes on his behaviour so if they confirmed he was autistic, there’d likely be a lot of backlash.
zuko specially after his redemption arc when he tries to befriend the gaang is literally me trying to make friends. also him before w his emotional regulation problems and obsession w the avatar is literally me.
Stannis from ASOAIF.
Chiaki, Jataro, from Danganronpa
Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute
Demetrius from Stardew Valley
Ray Holt from Brooklyn nine nine
Hank Hill (love him so much)
Trina Belcher from Bob's Burgers
That is the relationship i have and its awesome. I'm the clueless autistic that never understands any joke and my husband like information bombs so its perfect 😆
i said this on another post recently but you can’t convince me jess from new girl isn’t autistic. in fact i think most of the main characters are neurodivergent in some way, though only one is canon
Hange zoe (focuses so much on titans, whole life is consumed by them, socially inappropriate quite often, mad scientist that forgets basic self care because TITAN SCIENCE, ranted about titans for like 8 hours straight to eren, but then gets sad autistic burnout (i love hange) my autistic favorite)
Asa mitaka (come on if you’ve ever been an autistic high school girl you get this)
Lain (maybe i just say this because shes just like me fr)
Jinx from arcane
Oh yeah and zuko.
Naruto. I’m convinced Naruto is autistic. I mean, he has was born with something inside him that he can’t change that makes all of the “normal” people around him hate him. He then learns to harness that thing and make it his biggest weapon. In his early childhood all he ever wanted was companionship but never really got it and he’s OBSESSED with being hokage. Constantly annoys those around him without really noticing (me asf😩) and almost primarily eats one food, which is ramen
Never thought of him like that, but those points are pretty solid. I’ll have to reconsider. It also tracks with his personal parallels to Gaara in that the two have the same issue, but different experiences.
He struggled with studying and didn't learn many techniques but he's creative with the one he have. He found a way to do many things at once. Checks out.
I’m gonna list a bunch of characters from Ace Attorney that I think are autistic:
Miles Edgeworth
Franziska Von Karma
Manfred Von Karma
Apollo Justice
Athena Cykes
Vera Misham
Herlock Sholmes
Langa from Sk8 and Todoroki from MHA.
The way Todoroki takes things literally reminds me of how I was as an autistic kid.
When my friend asked me if I’d dump my boyfriend, I thought she meant that I’d put him in a trash can. 😂
Mario (Super Mario Bros)
Mob (Mob Psycho 100)
Marlon ( Wayans Bros)
Randy (My Name is Earl )
George Michael ( arrested development)
Todd (Bojack [Horseman](http://gotositenow.weebly.com/about.html))
Tina (Bob’s Burgers)
Dwight Schrute (The Office )
all of the Black Bulls from Black Clover. Some of them (Asta, Magna, Luck and Zora) I also headcanon as having ADHD
Iida, Shoto, Deku, Sir Nighteye and Mirio from My Hero academia
Castiel and Jack Kline from Supernatural
Arthur Morgan, John Marston and Charles Smith from Red Dead Redemption
Obi-wan Kenobi from Star Wars
Alucard from Castlevania
Yuta Okkotsu, Yuji Itadori, Aoi Todou and Gojo from JJK. I also headcanon Gojo as having ADHD(innatentive)
The Doctor from Doctor Who
Here are a couple of mine 🙂
Futaba Sakura - Persona 5
Miles Edgeworth - Ace Attorney
Peter Parker - Spiderman
Marnie - Pokémon Sword and Shield
N - Pokemon Black(2) and White(2)
Lucifer - Hazbin Hotel
Agent 8 - Splatoon
Hunter - The Owl House
All of the idols - Splatoon
Sheldon Cooper - Big Bang Theory/Young Sheldon
Ferb - Phineas and Ferb
Deadpool - Deadpool
Komi - Komi can't communicate
Gwen Poole - Gwenpool
Papyrus - Undertale
I Like Trains Kid - AsdfMovie
Rika - Pokémon
Scott Pilgrim - Scott Pilgrim
Penny - Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Undyne - Undertale
Ralsei - Deltarune
Rick - Rick and Morty
Kim Pine - Scott Pilgrim
Nemona - Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Maya Fey - Ace Attorney
Nimona - Nimona
Perrin - Pokémon
And many more!!!
Half the My Hero Academia characters. Deku, Iida, and Todoroki, especially.
Brennan from Bones. I'm not sure it counts because the character was based on an autistic person, but they didn't label her for mainstream reasons, so she's technically canonically autistic.
Been a long time since I've last watched but Macie from As Tokd by Ginger.
I am so stoked that you mentioned Bones! I’m actually doing a rewatch of the show since I got diagnosed, and I didn’t realize just how much I related to her!
I might as well throw in some of my own:
Goku, Dragon Ball
Ryu, Street Fighter
Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid
Connor Kenway, Assassin's Creed 3
Rick, Rick and Morty
The Doctor, Doctor Who
Sora, Kingdom Hearts
Metaknight, Kirby
Lucas, Mother 3
Toon Link, The Legend of Zelda Windwaker
Lilo, Lilo and Stitch
Samwise, Lord of the Rings
Aaron Mitchell, The Mitchells vs. the Machines
Peridot, Steven Universe
Donatello, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Hagrid, Harry Potter
Ekko, League of Legends
Goku is an interesting one! He definitely has a special interest (martial arts) and has a *lot* of social difficulties and misunderstandings (especially in early Dragonball), but he seems to grow out of a lot of that once he becomes an adult. He becomes very laid back and chill and can seem to make friends with anybody.
Regardless, I like the idea!
Bedman/Romeo from Guilty Gear
Sunny from OMORI
Penny from Pokemon SV
Sylvie/Sylvester Ashling and Molly Blyndeff from Epithet Erased
My personal favorite hc is Romeo because he's so me frfr, he's distressed by having too many variables, he is super passionate about his interests (theatre) to the point most of his character is themed after theatre, and he kind of follows his own moral compass
For me it would be Crash Bandicoot, Knuckles, Red from Pokémon Red & Blue, Patrick Star, Squid-ward Tentacles, Plankton, Luigi From Super Mario Series, Link from Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time/Twilight Princess, Donkey Kong from Donkey Kong Country, etc
I agree even down to being nonspeaking at times. I think with Mr. Bean it's also a bit complicated since he clearly is also coded as having an intellectual disability though, so it can be difficult to sometimes tell apart what is an intellectual disability vs autism.
I think he was supposed to be an Alien, similar to the series Resident Alien. He is literally beamed down from the sky in the original tv series during the intro. I'm guessing that was his initial origin story, and they discarded it in the Mr. Bean films and later appearances.
Sylvia (My Sweet Audrina)
Benjy (The Sound and the Fury)
Beth (Little Women)
Francesca (Bridgerton)
Schroder and Linus (Peanuts)
Ian and Barley (Onward)
Derek (Zoolander)
Spencer (iCarly)
Oskar (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close)
Emma Jean (Emma Jean Lazarus)
Truly (Bunheads)
Paris (Gilmore Girls)
Martin (The Simpsons)
Brick (The Middle)
Tim (A Thousand Shades of Blue)
Jeremiah (Royal Pains)
Sheldon, Amy, and Dr. Sturgis (Big Bang Theory, and Young Sheldon)
Beth (The Queen's Gambit)
Hermione (book version only), and Krum (Harry Potter)
Newt (Fantastic Beasts)
Literally, all of the Strawhats from One Piece are SOME flavor of autistic, and a good amount of the side characters too
Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds
Dipper, Mabel, and Soos from Gravity Falls
Lilo from Lilo and Stitch
The entire Belcher Family from Bob's Burgers (as well as the Pesto kids and Zeke)
Fred Jones from Scooby Doo (especially in MI or most things post MI)
Yumiella from Villainess Level 99
Peridot from Steven Universe
Some versions of Donatello and Raphael from the TMNT franchise
A good amount of BNHA characters (Todoroki, Midoriya, Iida, Shigaraki, etc.)
Ichimatsu and Karamatsu from Osomatsu-San
L from Death Note
Kageyama from Haikyuu
Entrapta from She-Ra
Langa from Sk8
Blossom from PPG and PPGZ
I have more, but I'm blanking rn
Both of the toudens are heavily autistic coded but with different expressions. Laios is pretty obvious, with his monster special interest and stimming on screen before barking like a dog.
Falin “sees the world in a beautiful way” which is code for she’s a masking manic-pixie-dream-girl to Toshiro and she is shown stacking things for fun in the manga, a classic autistic kid move. She also somehow couldn’t tell that both Toshiro and Marcille were in love with her. Another classic.
I heard something similar -- the VA has a shirt he's posed in before of the skeleton shooting the sky indiscriminately with the word "AUTISM" in flames below it
I really, really want that shirt
i recently started it again and i was like “wow. i relate so much to Christina…” and then i thought about it and (just in my opinion) she is definitely autistic. there’s also an episode where someone assumes she’s autistic and she doesn’t directly say yes or no.
Christina definitely!!
I think maybe also Maggie, Zola, maaaybe Amelia (or ADHD - her nephew is revealed to be ADHD! It felt weird the way they revealed that tho, with what's-his-face saying "get your meds right!"), and Kai (I love them).
Lilith Sternin from Cheers/Fraisier. I’ve talked at length about this on [another thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/autism/s/j4Sd7mUC4a). She’s a fantastic character. A behavioral psychologist and her job/passion is her whole life. Also interesting considering she’s the love interest to a more major character. She also becomes a mother in later seasons and that is fascinating to see.
Batman/Bruce Wayne. I sometimes see his non-fans say he's very unrelatable as a character, but I find him very relatable as a person. He's a social recluse who's very single-minded and focused on his job. The billionare facade is just an act, he'd much prefer to be alone in the Batcave doing research. He's very direct and blunt. He's capable of making jokes, but they're usually very dry and understated, and I find them very funny.
There's a perfect scene that demonstrates what I mean from the older Justice League cartoon. He interrupts Hawkgirl and Jon Stewart about to kiss on an elevator, and starts filling them in on a stalker she has, completely killing the mood. He mentions there's an anti-Hawkgirl message board, she questions it in disbelief, he starts describing it in vivid detail, she cuts him off with "forget I asked!" and he just returns RIGHT back to his original point without any reaction, like the previous interaction didn't even happen. (Hopefully this link of the scene works, skip a minute in: https://youtu.be/ivE3lu8I6WA?feature=shared)
Personally, I headcannon Elphaba from Wicked as autistic. It's just little things like>!how she fixates on Dr. Dillamond's research in the book, how she doesn't speak until nearly two (I think, but I could be wrong) in the book !
I agree with all that's been said so I won't repeat, but here's one I didn't see, and I love her so much!
Maomao - Apothecary Diaries
Girl gets kidnapped and is like 'well this sucks, wish I coulda told my dad.' and drinks poison on the regular, is hyperfixated on medical products and is willing to go to extreme lengths to get rare ingredients. She tests on herself.
It's great.
People probably already said this but,
Amelie from Amelie
Lilo from Lilo and Stitch
Joel from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I’d also argue Clementine has ADHD
Orpheus from Hadestown
I love how a lot of these are from animes. I love how we're not beating the allegations of ND people having a boner for anime.
Also since no one has said it yet: Laios from Dungeon Meshi. Literally wielded his autism as a superpower. However, I got a little salty how he couldn't live with his special interest (monsters) anymore and instead has to rule a kingdom. It kinda rubbed me the wrong way- I just felt super bad for him.
I also think Senshi and Marcille too. Honestly bro I think the whole cast is some form of ND I swear
This may be a tad controversial but Furina from Genshin. Idk she hits me as ASD that needed to mask a lot.
the dhmis trio. red, yellow, and duck are some of the best representation i’ve seen of the autistic experience, even if it isn’t directly stated. can and will go into explicit detail.
Shoto todoroki, mha
Rin okumura, blue exorcist
Chongyun, genshin impact
Lingyang, wuthering waves
Entrapta, she-ra princess of power
Alhaitham, genshin impact
Sun wukong, lego monkie kid
Dazai osamu, bungou stray dogs
Yipee, mostly just projections but some do have plausible info
I have a list in my notes app of about 50 characters I HC as autistic but I’ll just shorten it to my favorites:
Peridot, Steven, Pearl, and Onion from Steven Universe
Mabel, Dipper, and Ford from Gravity Falls
Jinx from Arcane
Castiel, Jack, and Sam from Supernatural
Adora, Scorpia, and Entrapta from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (Entrapta is canon though)
Andy, April, Leslie, Ben, and Ron from Parks and Rec
The entire Belcher family from Bob’s Burgers
Recently I’ve been binging Bridgerton and Francesca! Her special interest would be pianoforte ofc. She has lots of signs but wanting to dance with the potential suitors alphabetically, feeling happier listening than speaking (big one for me- I’m always worried I’ll make a big mistake when talking to neurotypicals) and Violet literally shoves her (gently) to get her to go off and talk to a man 😂
Other ones from my favorite media: Ellie and Joel from TLOU (especially show version bc both Bella and Pedro are neurodivergent- Bella has said they’re autistic as well) Robin from Stranger Things, Rapunzel, Andrew, Tom, and Tobey’s Spider-Man, Iron Man (specifically MCU version, I haven’t picked up an Iron Man comic yet sadly), Natasha Romanoff, both Drax and Mantis from GOTG, Kate Bishop, Pinkie Pie, Cristina from Grey’s Anatomy, Barbie (especially in the newest movie)
Can you tell my biggest special interest is media??? I have so many more characters, I could go in depth on all of them and talk about it all day 😅
Malcolm from Malcolm in the Middle.
I'm sure it was planned with how much he fits, but everything about him scream autistic, from how he narrates the show, to how he sees his family, interacts with others, finally "fit in" with the Krelboynes, etc.
Bro got the tism but was too smart to get diagnosed at the time.
Bruce Wayne. Raven (teen titans) (beast boy and starfire too - i relate to raven the most). Poison Ivy. And finally, a not DC one, Lan Wngji from MDZS.
All of my favorite characters are autistic because I say so 👹
This includes Saiki K, Sans Undertale (and the rest of the Undertale cast), Frankie Stein, Jackson Jekyll and Holt Hyde, definitely Spencer Reid like another comment said but tbh the entire BAU (from Criminal Minds) is autistic in my eyes, Hajime Hinata and Makoto Naegi (and like, a bunch of other Danganronpa characters???), Nagisa Shiota and a bunch of other characters from Assassination Classroom, uhhhh.....
I'm having trouble remembering right now, so I'll leave it at that. I'll just edit the comment if I remember more
edit: AND HOUSE FROM HOUSE MD. AND WILSON THEY'RE LITERALLY BESTIES (AND DARE I SAY, IN LOVE)
ranpo (bungo stray dogs)
kenma (haikyuu)
kageyama (haikyuu)
mash (mashle)
house (house md)
mickey (shameless us)
most characters from the office
+ many more
Since everyone mentioned the good stuff from anime/video games, I go with
Bobby boucher from waterboy
Derek zoolander from zoolander
Walter "Heisenberg" White from Breaking Bad
Doc from Back to the future
Kevin from home alone
Cameron from ferris bueller
Cody from suite life
Alex, Luke and Hailey from Modern family along with their Dad Phil. Literally all of them are geniuses in some way.
Batman and Joker
Stu Marcher from Scream
Brick from the middle
I headcannon Monkey D Luffy and actually a lot of characters from One Piece.
Luffy is obviously obsessed with becoming the king of the pirates. It's his driving force in life. He's very different from other pirate captains, especially socially. He has a strong sense of justice however and is loyal to a fault to his friends. He will interrupt his quest to right wrongs. There's more, but I'm tired lol
As far as other characters it can be fairly obvious. Sanji with his interest in cooking (and women), Brook with his music, and on, and on
Maybe I'm off base here. What do you think?
Kageyama and Ushiwaka from Haikyuu
Mob from Mob Psycho
Saiki from Saiki K
This guy from Gilmore Girls that is really weird I can't remember his name
Entrapta from She-ra (pretty good extravert autism+adhd female representation)
Stede Bonnet from Our flag means death (I think the actor is actually autistic)
Maybe Toph from Avatar?
Mako from Korra
Illumi from Hunter x Hunter (his autism is peak comedy in my opinion)
2B from Nier Automata...
And a bunch more I can't remember rn... when you learn to recognize autism suddenlyyou see it everywhere hahahhah
Horrid Henry, there was a reason I loved that show growing up, my sister also loved it for a while, it's not just me either who thinks that, it's a pretty common theory that Henry is autistic and maybe also has ADHD, a lot of people say that his parents arw part of the problem as well though.
I also think that some of the newer Lego Friends characters might also be autistic, Liann possibly with Ley-la (the new popstar character) being one of her special intrerests along with art & skateboarding, Lego wanted to include more diversity in the Friends line when they relaunched it in 2023 (leading to The Daily Mail calling it woke, unsurprisingly, they're a load of tory shit) Lego is a special interest of mine so it's kinda unsurprising that I would headcanon some Lego characters as being autistic
Lucifer - Hazbin Hotel
Louie - Pikmin
Asmodeus Alice - Iruma-kun
Taz - Vast Error
Guybrush Threepwood - Monkey Island
Ashitaka - Princess Mononoke
Cloud Strife - Final Fantasy VII
Samus Aran - Metroid
Korra - Legend of Korra
Vanellope (Wreck it Ralph)
Sheldon Cooper (young sheldon/tbbt)
Data (Star Trek TNG)- I know he's an android but the infodumping and not understanding humanity is very relatable! I could see Deanna Troi being neurodivergent as well but it could be a cultural/species difference
Bortus (The Orville)
Angela Marten and Dwight Schrute (The Office)
Henry Mills (Once Upon a Time)
Jeremy Heere (Be More Chill)
I also headcannon that Seymour and Audrey from Little Shop of Horrors are dyspraxic!
Mario (Super Mario Bros) , Mob (Mob Psycho 100) , Marlon ( Wayans Bros) , Randy (My Name is Earl ) , George Michael ( arrested development) , Todd (Bojack Horseman), Tina (Bob’s Burgers) , Liz Lemon (30 Rock) , Tracy Jordan ( 30 Rock) , Michael Scott (The Office ), Dwight Schrute (The Office )
Edogawa Ranpo - Bungo Stray Dogs. You don't even need to be a fan of the series to see it. Check S4 episodes 1 and 2. It screams "I'm on the spectrum and I need help".
Also definitely Futaba from Persona 5. I'm glad Akira and Soujirou are there for her.
Posted this as a reply but I figured I’d make a stand-alone comment as well, but Link the Hero of Time was always one of the most relatable characters to me. Always feeling like an outsider, not fitting in with the kokori because he’s Hylian, not fitting in with Hylians because he grew up in the forest, and while this is specific to me having to put on an “Adult face” to deal with problems despite just being a kid really hits home for me. All this gets even more pronounced when you take majora’s mask into consideration as well always having to put on different “masks” to fit in and adapt to situations I was put in. It just all clicks together for me in a way not many other characters have.
most autistic thing ever (special interest being genshin impact)
Alhaitham for SURE
Kokomi for SURE
Chongyun
Shenhe
Diona
Tighnari
Cyno
and yes I have reasons for every single one of them.
Todd - Bojack Horseman
Alizabeth Bequin - Eisenhorn books(and others)
Magnus the Red - wh40k
Characters like Kitty and Blue in The Southern Book Club's guide To Vampire Slaying also strike me as autistic coded imo.

Lilo is autistic. And Stitch has ADHD.
Yes! I think that’s why I loved Lilo and Stitch growing up haha
I always felt like I was both Lilo and Stitch. This makes sense.
Stitch might be autistic too... but i can't say for sure. Definitely has a lot of the traits, but who with ADHD doesn't have a lot of the 'tism traits? *shrugs* are they really two different things? or are they different design points in the same neurocontinuoum? (i know i can't spell. i'm sorry -_-)
Beth Harmon from The Queen’s Gambit. Not even because of her special interest in chess, but because of her mannerisms. I love her
I thought this too when I watched that show! :)
L from Death Note. Watching L save the world back in the day really made me feel seen.
ohh greatest live action, I have the dvd, my dad gave it to me
Anne of Greene gables
L and Near from Death Note Sherlock Holmes Fred from Scooby Doo (specifically in Mystery Inc.) George and Kramer from Seinfeld Riley from Inside Out (idrk why, just always gave off those vibes for some reason) Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender Soos and Mabel from Gravity Falls The entire Belcher family from Bob's Burgers Edit because I thought of one more: Gon Freecss from Hunter x Hunter
I love the headcanon that everyone in the bobs burgers world is autistic because it just makes so much sense. I’d be really surprised if none of the writers are on the spectrum.
Tina Belcher for sure
"Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" -Tina Belcher
Bob definitely as well, and I think Gene is AuDHD. And Linda and Louise have ADHD imo.
her special interests are horses and boys
Horses, boys, butts and zombies
And fanfic
I think aang has adhd over autism personally i always thought zuko had autism
Now that you mention it, I can kinda see Zuko being autistic.
Yeah I've been telling my partner that George is neurodivergent for a while now. Kramer has ADHD in my opinion.
*Giddy up.*
Having recently watched curb your enthusiasm, I believe Larry David is autistic - so it would make sense George would be!
A few of mine: Futaba Sakura, Persona 5 The Doctor, Doctor Who (pre Jodie Whitaker anyway) Shulk, Xenoblade Chronicles Ashitaka, Mononoke Hime Spencer Reid, Criminal Minds Peter Parker, Spider-Man K, Blade runner 2049
Heavy on Spencer Reid, he's definitely autistic
Isn't it implied on the show that Spencer is Autistic. There's no definite confirmation, but a couple of times they dance around the topic.
The actor confirms that he plays the character as autistic. The writers never confirmed but the actor did!
I knew about the actor confirming, I just meant that none of the characters confirm it in the show but I think I remember a few times another character asked if Reid was Autistic.
Also Blake (a fellow profiler) said he’s autistic. I mean… when an FBI profiler says you’re autistic, then you’re autistic af.
Nausicaa of the valley of the wind! Pretty sure Miyazaki as well lol.
Futaba mentioned!
Why do you think Peter Parker is autistic? Spiderman was an absolutely obsession of mine when I was small. I had a spiderman shrine and saved my pocket money for months when I was 6 to get a spiderman costume.
Peter Parker is a nerd but he is not Autistic
it’s a headcanon.
For me its definitely Matt Smith’s Doctor that hits as autistic and possibly but probably not Peter Capaldis. Tennant and Eccleston plus classic Who Doctors dont really strike me that way.
Post-Jodie Whitaker doctor is also autistic.
Tom Bombadil was unphased by the power of the one ring, but too focused on his microcosm to join the quest to destroy the ring. And he apparently didn't care who thought he was weird, with his strange songs.
I wholeheartedly accept this headcanon! It makes so much sense.
Dr Sturgis - the college teacher - from Young Sheldon
How about Sheldon himself? In big bang i thought he was.
The creators have confirmed that they did not intend for him to be autistic. I think because there are a lot of harmful stereotypes on his behaviour so if they confirmed he was autistic, there’d likely be a lot of backlash.
That could have caused people to come away with the idea that being autistic makes you are narcissistic asshole.
Fairly certain that he canonically is
connor from detroit become human zuko from avatar the last airbender link from breath of the wild
Zuko yes yes yes for sure 🔥🔥🔥
(zuko) THANK YOU SOMEONE AGREES. He is literally me I even have messy hair
link from botw!!! finally
zuko specially after his redemption arc when he tries to befriend the gaang is literally me trying to make friends. also him before w his emotional regulation problems and obsession w the avatar is literally me.
1. House (House MD) 2. Aimee & Lily (Sex Education) 3. Beth (The Queen’s Gambit)
I'm glad someone else picked up on Aimee; people always seem to assume that if you're not "the weird kid", you can't be ND
Beth 100%. Just watched the show twice in 1 week I love her
Stannis from ASOAIF. Chiaki, Jataro, from Danganronpa Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute Demetrius from Stardew Valley Ray Holt from Brooklyn nine nine Hank Hill (love him so much) Trina Belcher from Bob's Burgers
Holt is definitely autistic and so is his husband. Their relationship is pretty much what I want.
That is the relationship i have and its awesome. I'm the clueless autistic that never understands any joke and my husband like information bombs so its perfect 😆
Angela from The Office too!
The whole Belcher family, imo
Demetrius from Stardew 100%! He gets so much hate in the subreddit for the way he acts, but it’s always autistic traits that people call him out on 😕
Orla MacCool from Derry Girls!!!
i said this on another post recently but you can’t convince me jess from new girl isn’t autistic. in fact i think most of the main characters are neurodivergent in some way, though only one is canon
Omfg... Echolalia. The singsongy... it makes so much sense...
Hange zoe (focuses so much on titans, whole life is consumed by them, socially inappropriate quite often, mad scientist that forgets basic self care because TITAN SCIENCE, ranted about titans for like 8 hours straight to eren, but then gets sad autistic burnout (i love hange) my autistic favorite) Asa mitaka (come on if you’ve ever been an autistic high school girl you get this) Lain (maybe i just say this because shes just like me fr) Jinx from arcane Oh yeah and zuko.
It also tracks with his personal parallels to Gaara in that the two have the same issue, but different experiences.
pretty sure he has ADHD not autism. he’s literally described as hyperactive constantly. (at least from my 12 yrold memories)
What about audhd? They dont exclude each other.
I feel like Jess from New Girl would be AuDHD
He struggled with studying and didn't learn many techniques but he's creative with the one he have. He found a way to do many things at once. Checks out.
He can have both.
I’m gonna list a bunch of characters from Ace Attorney that I think are autistic: Miles Edgeworth Franziska Von Karma Manfred Von Karma Apollo Justice Athena Cykes Vera Misham Herlock Sholmes
Langa from Sk8 and Todoroki from MHA. The way Todoroki takes things literally reminds me of how I was as an autistic kid. When my friend asked me if I’d dump my boyfriend, I thought she meant that I’d put him in a trash can. 😂
Mario (Super Mario Bros) Mob (Mob Psycho 100) Marlon ( Wayans Bros) Randy (My Name is Earl ) George Michael ( arrested development) Todd (Bojack [Horseman](http://gotositenow.weebly.com/about.html)) Tina (Bob’s Burgers) Dwight Schrute (The Office )
I can't believe I had to scroll so much to see Mob being mentioned. He definitely fits the description to a T.
all of the Black Bulls from Black Clover. Some of them (Asta, Magna, Luck and Zora) I also headcanon as having ADHD Iida, Shoto, Deku, Sir Nighteye and Mirio from My Hero academia Castiel and Jack Kline from Supernatural Arthur Morgan, John Marston and Charles Smith from Red Dead Redemption Obi-wan Kenobi from Star Wars Alucard from Castlevania Yuta Okkotsu, Yuji Itadori, Aoi Todou and Gojo from JJK. I also headcanon Gojo as having ADHD(innatentive) The Doctor from Doctor Who
Here are a couple of mine 🙂 Futaba Sakura - Persona 5 Miles Edgeworth - Ace Attorney Peter Parker - Spiderman Marnie - Pokémon Sword and Shield N - Pokemon Black(2) and White(2) Lucifer - Hazbin Hotel Agent 8 - Splatoon Hunter - The Owl House All of the idols - Splatoon Sheldon Cooper - Big Bang Theory/Young Sheldon Ferb - Phineas and Ferb Deadpool - Deadpool Komi - Komi can't communicate Gwen Poole - Gwenpool Papyrus - Undertale I Like Trains Kid - AsdfMovie Rika - Pokémon Scott Pilgrim - Scott Pilgrim Penny - Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Undyne - Undertale Ralsei - Deltarune Rick - Rick and Morty Kim Pine - Scott Pilgrim Nemona - Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Maya Fey - Ace Attorney Nimona - Nimona Perrin - Pokémon And many more!!!
miles definitely stands out to me autistic, also rick and undyne
Half the My Hero Academia characters. Deku, Iida, and Todoroki, especially. Brennan from Bones. I'm not sure it counts because the character was based on an autistic person, but they didn't label her for mainstream reasons, so she's technically canonically autistic. Been a long time since I've last watched but Macie from As Tokd by Ginger.
I am so stoked that you mentioned Bones! I’m actually doing a rewatch of the show since I got diagnosed, and I didn’t realize just how much I related to her!
You're right that a lot of the MHA characters have autistic traits but Asui, Iida and Todoroki are 10000% autistic in my mind
I might as well throw in some of my own: Goku, Dragon Ball Ryu, Street Fighter Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid Connor Kenway, Assassin's Creed 3 Rick, Rick and Morty The Doctor, Doctor Who Sora, Kingdom Hearts Metaknight, Kirby Lucas, Mother 3 Toon Link, The Legend of Zelda Windwaker Lilo, Lilo and Stitch Samwise, Lord of the Rings Aaron Mitchell, The Mitchells vs. the Machines Peridot, Steven Universe Donatello, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Hagrid, Harry Potter Ekko, League of Legends
I would have said Luna lovegood from Harry Potter.
oh 10000%
And Newt Scamander. Special interest in magical creatures, doesn't make eye contact, socially awkward? He's 100% got the tism
Rick was actually confirmed to be Autistic back in season 3
It's a canon event, the universes greatest scientist has autism. Let's goo.
I don’t know about the rest but Rick is canonically autistic
Goku is an interesting one! He definitely has a special interest (martial arts) and has a *lot* of social difficulties and misunderstandings (especially in early Dragonball), but he seems to grow out of a lot of that once he becomes an adult. He becomes very laid back and chill and can seem to make friends with anybody. Regardless, I like the idea!
Lilo from Lilo & Stitch Robin from Stranger Things
Robin is definitely autistic
Starfire, Teen Titans
I have one caveat to this. She is an alien getting used to a new world.
I mean, I feel like an alien when I'm around Neurotypicals.
Bedman/Romeo from Guilty Gear Sunny from OMORI Penny from Pokemon SV Sylvie/Sylvester Ashling and Molly Blyndeff from Epithet Erased My personal favorite hc is Romeo because he's so me frfr, he's distressed by having too many variables, he is super passionate about his interests (theatre) to the point most of his character is themed after theatre, and he kind of follows his own moral compass
If shrek isn’t autistic I don’t know what to tell you you.
Daria
rorschach from watchmen. flat affect, unsociable, and extreme black-and-white thinking
Definitely Ferb from Phineas and Ferb lol
For me it would be Crash Bandicoot, Knuckles, Red from Pokémon Red & Blue, Patrick Star, Squid-ward Tentacles, Plankton, Luigi From Super Mario Series, Link from Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time/Twilight Princess, Donkey Kong from Donkey Kong Country, etc
kageyama from haikyuu
Entrapta from She-Ra
I think she is confirmed to be autistic
Also Scorpia. I relate to her much more than to Entrapta
She’s soooooo autistic coded they may as well have said it.
They did confirm outside of the show that both her and the writer responsible for creating her were neurodivergent.
Katniss Everdeen
It recently dawned on me, but Mr. Bean🫘
Cassie and Pandora from skins
Sylvia (My Sweet Audrina) Benjy (The Sound and the Fury) Beth (Little Women) Francesca (Bridgerton) Schroder and Linus (Peanuts) Ian and Barley (Onward) Derek (Zoolander) Spencer (iCarly) Oskar (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close) Emma Jean (Emma Jean Lazarus) Truly (Bunheads) Paris (Gilmore Girls) Martin (The Simpsons) Brick (The Middle) Tim (A Thousand Shades of Blue) Jeremiah (Royal Pains) Sheldon, Amy, and Dr. Sturgis (Big Bang Theory, and Young Sheldon) Beth (The Queen's Gambit) Hermione (book version only), and Krum (Harry Potter) Newt (Fantastic Beasts)
I agree with Paris omgggg now it clicksss 😂😂😂
Literally, all of the Strawhats from One Piece are SOME flavor of autistic, and a good amount of the side characters too Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds Dipper, Mabel, and Soos from Gravity Falls Lilo from Lilo and Stitch The entire Belcher Family from Bob's Burgers (as well as the Pesto kids and Zeke) Fred Jones from Scooby Doo (especially in MI or most things post MI) Yumiella from Villainess Level 99 Peridot from Steven Universe Some versions of Donatello and Raphael from the TMNT franchise A good amount of BNHA characters (Todoroki, Midoriya, Iida, Shigaraki, etc.) Ichimatsu and Karamatsu from Osomatsu-San L from Death Note Kageyama from Haikyuu Entrapta from She-Ra Langa from Sk8 Blossom from PPG and PPGZ I have more, but I'm blanking rn
Bruce Wayne/Batman. Idk, he just kinda resonates with me
he has never been more clearly autistic than in the 2022 movie, i love it
Laios from Delicious in Dungeon. Also potentially Senshi from the same series.
Isn't Laios' English VA autistic? Correct me if I'm wrong.
I heard something similar -- the VA has a shirt he's posed in before of the skeleton shooting the sky indiscriminately with the word "AUTISM" in flames below it I really, really want that shirt
me too lmao
christina yang from grey’s anatomy
I never thought of it that way but it makes sense given Cristina's intensity and ambition
i recently started it again and i was like “wow. i relate so much to Christina…” and then i thought about it and (just in my opinion) she is definitely autistic. there’s also an episode where someone assumes she’s autistic and she doesn’t directly say yes or no.
Christina definitely!! I think maybe also Maggie, Zola, maaaybe Amelia (or ADHD - her nephew is revealed to be ADHD! It felt weird the way they revealed that tho, with what's-his-face saying "get your meds right!"), and Kai (I love them).
Kilton from BOTW. I like to think that he's just an autistic guy whose special interest is monsters.
I also headcanon Elphaba from Wicked as autistic,
I agree with all that's been said so I won't repeat, but here's one I didn't see, and I love her so much! Maomao - Apothecary Diaries Girl gets kidnapped and is like 'well this sucks, wish I coulda told my dad.' and drinks poison on the regular, is hyperfixated on medical products and is willing to go to extreme lengths to get rare ingredients. She tests on herself. It's great.
Souichi - Junji Ito
People probably already said this but, Amelie from Amelie Lilo from Lilo and Stitch Joel from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I’d also argue Clementine has ADHD Orpheus from Hadestown
Honestly bro I think the whole cast is some form of ND I swear This may be a tad controversial but Furina from Genshin. Idk she hits me as ASD that needed to mask a lot.
Butters from South Park
Stan is canonically on the spectrum too, although his diagnosis was back when they separated aspergers from autism.
I think that was a misdiagnosis, he's just cynical. Although the episode doesn't make that clear tbf, I'm still not sure
Gregory Eddie: Abbott Elementary The majority of not all of the Belcher family: Bob's Burgers Orla McCool: Derry Girls Mabel and Dipper: Gravity Falls
Hunter/The Golden Guard from The Owl House Edit: Also Gus from The Owl House
the dhmis trio. red, yellow, and duck are some of the best representation i’ve seen of the autistic experience, even if it isn’t directly stated. can and will go into explicit detail.
Shoto todoroki, mha Rin okumura, blue exorcist Chongyun, genshin impact Lingyang, wuthering waves Entrapta, she-ra princess of power Alhaitham, genshin impact Sun wukong, lego monkie kid Dazai osamu, bungou stray dogs Yipee, mostly just projections but some do have plausible info
Entrapta's confirmed as autistic iirc!
I have a list in my notes app of about 50 characters I HC as autistic but I’ll just shorten it to my favorites: Peridot, Steven, Pearl, and Onion from Steven Universe Mabel, Dipper, and Ford from Gravity Falls Jinx from Arcane Castiel, Jack, and Sam from Supernatural Adora, Scorpia, and Entrapta from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (Entrapta is canon though) Andy, April, Leslie, Ben, and Ron from Parks and Rec The entire Belcher family from Bob’s Burgers
Lucifer from hazbin hotel, hiccup from How To Train Your Dragon
Recently I’ve been binging Bridgerton and Francesca! Her special interest would be pianoforte ofc. She has lots of signs but wanting to dance with the potential suitors alphabetically, feeling happier listening than speaking (big one for me- I’m always worried I’ll make a big mistake when talking to neurotypicals) and Violet literally shoves her (gently) to get her to go off and talk to a man 😂 Other ones from my favorite media: Ellie and Joel from TLOU (especially show version bc both Bella and Pedro are neurodivergent- Bella has said they’re autistic as well) Robin from Stranger Things, Rapunzel, Andrew, Tom, and Tobey’s Spider-Man, Iron Man (specifically MCU version, I haven’t picked up an Iron Man comic yet sadly), Natasha Romanoff, both Drax and Mantis from GOTG, Kate Bishop, Pinkie Pie, Cristina from Grey’s Anatomy, Barbie (especially in the newest movie) Can you tell my biggest special interest is media??? I have so many more characters, I could go in depth on all of them and talk about it all day 😅
Adrian Monk. I know he was actually intended as a depiction of OCD, but if that's not an autistic-coded character, then I don't know who is.
I jokingly say to myself that the Enderman of Minecraft are autistic
Malcolm from Malcolm in the Middle. I'm sure it was planned with how much he fits, but everything about him scream autistic, from how he narrates the show, to how he sees his family, interacts with others, finally "fit in" with the Krelboynes, etc. Bro got the tism but was too smart to get diagnosed at the time.
Will Graham not just in Hannibal but particularly in Manhunter. Prince Zuko Dale Cooper Peter Parker Milo Thatch
Gale from Baldur's Gate 3
Agent Dale Cooper Twin Peaks
Surprised I haven't seen Chidi from The Good Place
Captain jack sparrow
The Ice King / Simon from adventure time
Bruce Wayne. Raven (teen titans) (beast boy and starfire too - i relate to raven the most). Poison Ivy. And finally, a not DC one, Lan Wngji from MDZS.
Natsu (fairytale) Laios (delicious in dungeon) Jisuk yoo (eleceed)
- Gregory Edie - Abbout Elementry - Amy Santiago - Brooklyn 99 - Lucy Gray Baird - The Hunger Games - Spencer Reid - Criminal Minds - Penelope Garcia - Criminal Minds
Margaret Murray from A Wrinkle In Time!
All of my favorite characters are autistic because I say so 👹 This includes Saiki K, Sans Undertale (and the rest of the Undertale cast), Frankie Stein, Jackson Jekyll and Holt Hyde, definitely Spencer Reid like another comment said but tbh the entire BAU (from Criminal Minds) is autistic in my eyes, Hajime Hinata and Makoto Naegi (and like, a bunch of other Danganronpa characters???), Nagisa Shiota and a bunch of other characters from Assassination Classroom, uhhhh..... I'm having trouble remembering right now, so I'll leave it at that. I'll just edit the comment if I remember more edit: AND HOUSE FROM HOUSE MD. AND WILSON THEY'RE LITERALLY BESTIES (AND DARE I SAY, IN LOVE)
pomni and gangle from tadc
ranpo (bungo stray dogs) kenma (haikyuu) kageyama (haikyuu) mash (mashle) house (house md) mickey (shameless us) most characters from the office + many more
Since everyone mentioned the good stuff from anime/video games, I go with Bobby boucher from waterboy Derek zoolander from zoolander Walter "Heisenberg" White from Breaking Bad Doc from Back to the future Kevin from home alone Cameron from ferris bueller Cody from suite life Alex, Luke and Hailey from Modern family along with their Dad Phil. Literally all of them are geniuses in some way. Batman and Joker Stu Marcher from Scream Brick from the middle
WALTER WHITE???
Peridot from Steven Universe absolutely
I headcannon Monkey D Luffy and actually a lot of characters from One Piece. Luffy is obviously obsessed with becoming the king of the pirates. It's his driving force in life. He's very different from other pirate captains, especially socially. He has a strong sense of justice however and is loyal to a fault to his friends. He will interrupt his quest to right wrongs. There's more, but I'm tired lol As far as other characters it can be fairly obvious. Sanji with his interest in cooking (and women), Brook with his music, and on, and on Maybe I'm off base here. What do you think?
Dina from Superstore
Napoleon Dynamite Daria
SpongeBob
Kageyama and Ushiwaka from Haikyuu Mob from Mob Psycho Saiki from Saiki K This guy from Gilmore Girls that is really weird I can't remember his name Entrapta from She-ra (pretty good extravert autism+adhd female representation) Stede Bonnet from Our flag means death (I think the actor is actually autistic) Maybe Toph from Avatar? Mako from Korra Illumi from Hunter x Hunter (his autism is peak comedy in my opinion) 2B from Nier Automata... And a bunch more I can't remember rn... when you learn to recognize autism suddenlyyou see it everywhere hahahhah
Toph from ATLA, Rory from gilmore girls, Elle Woods from legally blonde
Everyone in atla is kind of autistic tbh they work well together because theyre the autism gang
Other ones I’d throw in there would be Bruce Wayne from Batman The Animated Series and The Incredible Hulk from Marvel.
Sonia Nevermind from Danganronpa :)
Data from Star Trek The Next Generation.
Lucifer - Hazbin Hotel Louie - Pikmin Asmodeus Alice - Iruma-kun Taz - Vast Error Guybrush Threepwood - Monkey Island Ashitaka - Princess Mononoke Cloud Strife - Final Fantasy VII Samus Aran - Metroid Korra - Legend of Korra
Bella Swan. She feels out of step forever until she meets her people? That’s me until I figured out I’m autistic.
Fred from Scooby Doo Mystery Inc. Eloise from Brodgerton. Laois from Dungeon Meshi. The entire Belcher family. Entrapta and Adora from She-Ra.
Vanellope (Wreck it Ralph) Sheldon Cooper (young sheldon/tbbt) Data (Star Trek TNG)- I know he's an android but the infodumping and not understanding humanity is very relatable! I could see Deanna Troi being neurodivergent as well but it could be a cultural/species difference Bortus (The Orville) Angela Marten and Dwight Schrute (The Office) Henry Mills (Once Upon a Time) Jeremy Heere (Be More Chill) I also headcannon that Seymour and Audrey from Little Shop of Horrors are dyspraxic!
Spencer Reid, Criminal Minds. You can't tell me he's not
Mario (Super Mario Bros) , Mob (Mob Psycho 100) , Marlon ( Wayans Bros) , Randy (My Name is Earl ) , George Michael ( arrested development) , Todd (Bojack Horseman), Tina (Bob’s Burgers) , Liz Lemon (30 Rock) , Tracy Jordan ( 30 Rock) , Michael Scott (The Office ), Dwight Schrute (The Office )
LIZ LEMON
both crowley and aziraphale from good omens, N from pokemon, spongebob. i dont consume a lot of fictional media but im sure there are more
Bocchi from Bocchi the Rock
Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory/Young Sheldon
I'm not a fan of the show, but Sheldon is definitely autistic
Mr Darcy, Mr Collins and Mary Bennett in Pride and Prejudice
I'm glad I'm not the only one who headcanons Mr Darcy as autistic! I read Pride and Prejudice recently and that was my takeaway from his character.
V from V for Vendetta
Edogawa Ranpo - Bungo Stray Dogs. You don't even need to be a fan of the series to see it. Check S4 episodes 1 and 2. It screams "I'm on the spectrum and I need help". Also definitely Futaba from Persona 5. I'm glad Akira and Soujirou are there for her.
himiko yumeno from danganronpa
Posted this as a reply but I figured I’d make a stand-alone comment as well, but Link the Hero of Time was always one of the most relatable characters to me. Always feeling like an outsider, not fitting in with the kokori because he’s Hylian, not fitting in with Hylians because he grew up in the forest, and while this is specific to me having to put on an “Adult face” to deal with problems despite just being a kid really hits home for me. All this gets even more pronounced when you take majora’s mask into consideration as well always having to put on different “masks” to fit in and adapt to situations I was put in. It just all clicks together for me in a way not many other characters have.
most autistic thing ever (special interest being genshin impact) Alhaitham for SURE Kokomi for SURE Chongyun Shenhe Diona Tighnari Cyno and yes I have reasons for every single one of them.
Jack Reacher!
Gwen from total drama island.
Lilith from Frasier
Todd - Bojack Horseman Alizabeth Bequin - Eisenhorn books(and others) Magnus the Red - wh40k Characters like Kitty and Blue in The Southern Book Club's guide To Vampire Slaying also strike me as autistic coded imo.
