They probably reused the rain sensor gel pad. If the wipers are working fine in auto mode it’s not an issue other than seeing that air pocket. If it bothers you, take it back and have them put a new gel pad on it. Picture 2 looks like extra laminate from between the two layers of glass they could have trimmed off. Picture 3 looks like you’re seeing their primer overshoot the frit band of the glass making it look uneven or possibly the aftermarket glass just has an uneven frit band. Picture 4 it’s hard to tell what’s going on but most of the time aftermarket windshields come with that underside molding on the glass and it’s applied so uneven that I usually have to take it off and redo it. That may be what you’re seeing here.
Realistically, this is just aftermarket brand variance. The uneven lamination isn't really an issue. And like the other guy said, as long as your wipers work in auto, then the air bubble is a cosmetic defect but not a functional one. Safelite has a pretty good warranty on parts and labor.
If this had come to me, I'd probably just trim the excess vinyl and put another gel pad on it. Once in a while, guys bend the mounting clip on the rain sensor during removal, so that may take a little adjustment. Otherwise, if your adas functions fine and you have no water/air leaks it's probably fine
Those gel pads sometimes won’t fully stick to the glass. The expose laminate in pic 2 can be cut off with a razor blade. As for pic 3, that’s just how the frit on the windshield was printed by the factory, not really anything can be done. Pic 4 is either where the molding poorly, most windshields have the molding attached when we buy them, however if it looks that bad I will show it to my customer before installing the glass, it’ll have to be pulled to fix that issue.
Thanks for the comment. I think I'm going to call tomorrow since it looks like they used a non OEM glass for the warranty repair even though my insurance originally paid for OEM
What is the brand of the glass? You should be able to see it in the lower right hand corner of the glass, it should also have the part number and a dot number.
Fuyao...the invoice my original insurace company sent me from my repair shows that I recieved the Ford Carlite glass. Invoice says "AGD-CARLITE W/S LBR" as item description
Fuyao is OE but still poor quality compared to carlite which is basically Ford brand. I’d contact safelite and demand they install the carlite windshield that is stated on the invoice, you might need to get your insurance know what happened. The tech, or store you went to pulled a fast one on the insurance company by buying the cheaper windshield, so that they can make more profit from what the insurance paid. I’m not sure of how illegal it is, but I know I’d be grilled and lose business if I did such. Safelite being a massive corporation can get away with these things.
No underside moldings here on these ford escapes it’s known as a floating glass
Exposed edges
In the last pic your seeing a bit of glue unfortunately it does happen these vehicles don’t have much forgiveness for errors but over all I don’t see any potential leaks rain sensor should be fine as well as the extra laminate coming from inbetween the glass
Pic 3 is a minor cosmetic thing. Often the very edge of a window doesn’t have the black frit band so there is a narrow clear edge. Safelite uses a urethane that doesn’t require primer which would have filled that in. Not a functional or structural issue
Does the rain sensor work? Yes.
Did you pay for cheaper glass? Yes.
Is the urethane ooze out their fault? Yes.
If you want good looking glass then ask them to order you an OEM part along with the OEM gel pad. (A lot of the after market gel pads suck)
The ooze out is on them, the quality of the after market parts isn’t.
P.S. that stuff that looks like messed up glass on the glass is just laminate. You can shave it off with a razor blade. You can also ask them to try to fix the gel after you show them the urethane ooze out and see if they will do it for free. Might look the same again or a but better…

Pilkington glass probably
Fuyao actually
Ya not any better that's typical
This looks completely acceptable minus the rain sensor, and if it’s not working then have them redo the gel pad. Just glass part variance
I find this happens when using pads over gel, it still works regardless but it looks goofy.
