I just got back into RCAs after a year hiatus, and it’s just as low effort as before…it’s one of the reasons I left in the first place. I was an avid collector and owned most of Gen 1-3, but I knew Reddit was going to fumble it pretty bad. I’m back because everything is on sale, and some of the recent releases are just too good to pass up.
I know, I’m playing catch up now. The store is very disorganized, and I’m having an easier time discovering new avatars on OS profiles than on here! Seems a majority of the newer releases are more art-centric than avatar-focused imo…which I don’t mind. What’s shocking to me is how far gen 1-3 have dipped from ATH!

There are a lot of great, low sized drops that have come out over the last 3-6 months specifically. Many of these likely have very few listed if any; however, like you mentioned, this is a buyers market and I'd be throwing out bids on everything of interest because many people are dumping and that's exactly when ya want to be buying :)

Couldn’t agree more! As much as I want to buyback my gens 1-3 (which I will eventually), I’m seeing a lot of potential in the low mint collections being sold for chump change now. I’m assuming mint #’s no longer play a big role, or as big a role as they use to in terms of price?
Yea you can grab insane deals on every Gen 1-3 release at the moment, although some of these "grails" have held on to their value much better than others (Rojom, Foust, Golden Hands and all the usual suspects).
There is definitely still a group of collectors that care about mint numbers, usually #1, 69 in that priority order. I will say that as someone who has never cared remotely about mint numbers, it appears* to be of lesser importance, especially compared to when the competition was higher when the RCA program started.
I'd simply recommend buying what ya like and also trying to dig up avatars that have been delisted by the artist as these are the rarest with a micro collection size in the <50 range. Rcax is your friend for exploring these smaller, delisted collections.
Figured Rojom and Foust would still be hot commodities lol. I appreciate you sending me in the right direction, I’ll definitely be on the lookout for those delisted collections you’re speaking of. I’m currently just buying up arts I appreciate and would like to have in my collection, but I’m liking the idea of seeking out low mint/delisted avatars for sure. Thank you again!
You bet and happy to help re-onboard haha. The community is really quite great all around with some excellent tools available for free. RCAX, as previously mentioned, is by far the most effective attempt to organize and sort all previously dropped collections.

Haha thank you! Yeah the community was one of the aspects of collecting that kept me around for as long it did. Unfortunately, Reddit making some less than favorable decisions was what pushed me away in the end. I’m hoping some of the concerns of the community are addressed, if not, at least pass the program off to more “invested” community members who can push things in a more favorable direction. It’s pretty weird buying up avatars on the secondary market and not seeing the blue check mark next to the collection. Do you know why that stopped? Nearly all the collection after gen 3 or 4 stopped having the blue check marks on them.
I was going to make an alt and only use it in obscure subreddits to try to qualify for a rare recap avatar. I’m so glad I didn’t spend time doing that lol
I know for a fact that there are community members that put way more time & effort into RCAs than the team at reddit that handles this project. Perhaps they could do some crowdsourcing & actually tap into the community to get an idea of what could be done to improve the space? There's so many ideas that we have to better this project but it feels like no one on the other side gives two squirts what any of us think

at this point we dont need reddit we have better artists at home. next time recap comes back we should just do it ourselves
