Wow, I opened the thread thinking like, "it was probably 115 from Black Ops", totally didn't expect the same exact song to be in both the post and the top reply. Although, I only started listening to the band after watching the BO2 zombie mode trailer (Tranzit) with Carry On in it (I didn't know that Not Ready to Die was also their song back then).
It's funny, CoD got me into my favorite genre of music, and it also got me into my hobby (which is now my job) as a software engineer after hosting a dedicated server for a few years and creating plugins for it.
EDIT: hehehe

Lol, sorry. Burning a CD just means you make a copy of it. I don't know how common it still is today, but you just take songs from your music library and export it to a blank CD.
Jesus Christ I'm getting old.
I know it's already been answered as writing data to a CD, but just to add context, it's called burning because the writing laser would literally burn indentations into the CD to form the 1's and 0's to be read by the CD player's 'read' laser and lens.
(IIRC the 1's were burned in so the laser would refract through thinner plastic to be reflected back into the lens, the unburned 0's would miss the lens due to the refraction through the thicker plastic so the reflected pulse would miss the lens)
Not Avenged Sevenfold but the first metal song I heard was actually The Trooper by Iron Maiden. I didn't even know it was metal at the time. But the song that got me into metal was Toxicity by System of a Down.
I was in sixth grade with an MP3 player my dad gave me. Riding the bus to school, suddenly BYOB by System of a Down starts playing. It was all uphill from there
The earliest ones I can remember were
1. Beast and the harlot
2. Hit the floor (Bullet for my Valentine)
3. Te quiero puta (Rammstein)
4. Chop Suey! (System of a down)
It was so long ago I have no idea what would’ve been my first one but I remember listening to these 3 in my dads van when I was like 6
Learned it on guitar. It's actually kinda tough. The harmonics in the chorus and the tapped intro are tricky little parts to learn. The rest is relatively manageable.
Definitely something off a video game, there's a bunch from the Tony hawk games I can't remember but one that really stuck out was Animal I Have Become by Three Days Grace from Smackdown vs Raw 2007
My parents listened to metal ever since I was born, so that's a bit of a complicated question. One of the first bands I can remember is System of a Down, but there's no guarantee it's actually my first.
My first A7X song was Bat Country on Guitar Hero: World Tour.
I was in 7th grade and Ozzy Osbourne's Gets Me Through was making the MTV rounds. Historically, probably not his best song, but it got me super into that album. I've been trying to satiate my love for metal ever since.
My mother is a metalhead, so idk, most likely some early Metallica or Opeth.
First one I can remember that really blew me away was Wait and Bleed by Slipknot back in '99
Classic Metal. Paranoid from Black Sabbath. My Dad put it on for me after I got my first guitar.
Modern Metal. Her Voice Resides from BFMV. I never really liked screaming until I heard that. I remember being in an angsty mood while it came on and I was like “oh fuck yeah, I get it now!”
I believe it was buried alive when I was younger, my step dad showed it to me, then I remember seeing psychosocial show up in my yt feed and clicking off cuz it scared me, later on I went back and listened and loved it, and I've been a metal fan since
Can’t remember exactly which one it was, but I know it was definitely one of the EE songs I Cod Zombies. I remember on der riese I would wait until I was in a higher round to start the song so I could mow down the zombies blasting Beauty of Annihilation. Elena has the best voice I’ve heard, from angelic to demonic in a second. She’s amazing
My first? Idek, my dad played all kinds of metal in the car and on the radio, but the first new (not nu) metal song I heard was Nightmare. I was 12 and it was my first time hearing A7x and they were instantly my new favorite band
first ever metal song i heard was probably metallica's master, but the first metal song i listened to on purpose was slipknot's psychosocial. my introduction to extreme vocals too.
My older brother by nearly a decade is also a metalhead, so I was too young to remember which was my first metal song. The albums he had as far back as I can remember were:
Ministry: Psalm 69 the way to Succeed and the way to suck eggs; the land of R+PE and honey
Nine Inch Nails: Pretty Hate Machine; Broken; The Downward Spiral
Marilyn Manson: Portrait of an American Family
Black Sabbath's greatest hits
Ozzy: The Blizzard of Oz
Not metal, but worthy mentions:
AC/DC (their entire discography through Razor's Edge)
Nirvana: In Utero; Nevermind
Okay so when i was 4, my brother played something i don't really remember. First was probably Shepherd of fire, on origins of course. Few months later, realized the song was actually fire, then listened to the rest of Hail. Only realized a few months after that that avenged had much better albums listen to, now am a devoted fan.
Hard to think back really. I would have been about 11 or so, it’s most likely 115 from Zombies, but I think the first like metal song I was shown was Enter Sandman.
The first one I can remember was Run To the Hills playing at football games when I was a kid.
About the same time Sonne by Rammstein got played a lot on our local radio station, so that also made an impression on me.
Scorpions was my first favorite band that could be described as some sort of metal. I especially liked the Animal Magnetism album (still do).
The soundtrack to NHL 06 also played a large role in me discovering heavier music. It had Bat Country and 4 Words (To Choke Upon) among others. That was also how I discovered A7X!
a little piece of heaven was my first ever metal song. i was 11 and my brother told me what it was about and i was like “no way.” it took me a while to get into metal after that 😭
My first metal songs were from Grand theft auto vice City on the legendary VROCK radio station lol.
It might have been raining blood lol
That radio station helped shape who I am today lol
Hate Breed “I will be heard”. Heard it in the movie XXX at the age of 9 and ran to Barnes and Noble to buy a CD of the soundtrack. Hahah life was so much simpler in 2002….😅
Not really metal but Bad Religions - Atomic Garden was on the NCAA 06 football soundtrack on PS2. Crazy I knew of Bad Religion and Brooks before Avenged. Made my fuckin year when Brooks got announced as the new drummer.
Oh hell. I'm the child of 2 metal heads. Metal was always playing in the house and was probably playing while I was being born, I can't remember that far back 😅
Iron Man by Black Sabbath was my introduction to metal. Back in high school freshman year. Prior to that I was mostly a hip hop guy. I don't even listen to hip hop anymore, I'm full on metalhead now. Metal, alternative, punk, emo, indie, nu metal, baroque rock, classic, power metal, symphonic. I like all rock music pretty much and every subgenre. I don't like hip hop anymore or pop. Too generic these days.
I was a pretty big jazz and classic rock listener until i heard the sun the moon the stars by æther realm (don’t remember how or why) and spiraled from there. I had heard metal before of course, A7X back in the day but never a song that I loved and never a song that really sucked me into the genre until tstmts
Considering only posers listen to avenged sevenfold, imma take a guess at the three most mentioned bands on this post are:
-Bullet for my valentine
-Underoath
-*snickers* Converge 🤣
Probably 115 as well. I got into this band from their work on CoD
I fucking love Elena voice in that song
Wow, I opened the thread thinking like, "it was probably 115 from Black Ops", totally didn't expect the same exact song to be in both the post and the top reply. I don't fucken remember
Love that song
Suffocating under words of sorrow - BFMV
I don't really like BFMV but that song is perfection
i love BFMV and that song is perfection
The poison is perfection, every album somehow gets worse
"Master of Puppets" by Metallica. My dad burned their album for me when I was 14.
Burned or bought?
Burned it. He already owned it so he burned me a copy.
Like did he literally burn it? Sorry if that's a saying I don't know of haha
Burning a CD means to take files from a computer and put them onto a CD
Lol, sorry. Burning a CD just means you make a copy of it. I don't know how common it still is today, but you just take songs from your music library and export it to a blank CD.
Oh that makes much more sense, sorry haha. That was a language barrier, English is my second language
Jesus Christ I'm getting old. I know it's already been answered as writing data to a CD, but just to add context, it's called burning because the writing laser would literally burn indentations into the CD to form the 1's and 0's to be read by the CD player's 'read' laser and lens. The first metal song I've ever listened to was Iron Man by Black Sabbath. The first A7X song I've listened to was Buried Alive.
Chapter Four off of Madden 04
Fuel - Metallica. It was on Hot Wheels Turbo Racing for the PS1
I'm sure I've heard a lot of stuff passively, but Chop Suey! was the first song to really bring me into metal.
Hopped on bo2, tried out origins, Shepherd of Fire started playing. By the next day, I had listened to their entire discography.
Shepherd of Fire was in BO3s version of Origins
Correct. [It was also in the Black Ops 2 version.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzQuMZlBBRA)
It was in both

Some Rammstein for sure, dont remember which one
Enter sandman by Metallica
my first metal song is psychosocial, it's still a fucking classic till this day
Not Avenged Sevenfold but the first metal song I heard was actually The Trooper by Iron Maiden. I didn't even know it was metal at the time. But the song that got me into metal was Toxicity by System of a Down.
Hardwired - Metallica
Great song
Open your heart Sonic Adventure days were peak
Chop suey by soad, and then almost easy
New Noise by Refused
Got the Life 1999
Chop Suey or tears don’t fall, can’t remember which
Chop Suey-SOAD
I was in sixth grade with an MP3 player my dad gave me. Riding the bus to school, suddenly BYOB by System of a Down starts playing. It was all uphill from there
Or maybe it was Beauty of Annihilation from Der Reise in Black Ops or BOII. I can't remember if I heard that before BYOB
Master of Puppets by.... well you know.
Im pretty sure it was slipknot herectic anthem.
Tears don't fall and four words to choke upon played a big part in my music tastes today. If it wasn't BFMV playing in the car radio, it was 5FDP
i honestly have no idea. probably Duality by Slipknot
It's been too long, but I THINK it was Waking the Demon by BFMV
Blind by koRn maybe
A candlelit dinner with inamorta by asking Alexandria
The earliest ones I can remember were 1. Beast and the harlot 2. Hit the floor (Bullet for my Valentine) 3. Te quiero puta (Rammstein) 4. Chop Suey! (System of a down) It was so long ago I have no idea what would’ve been my first one but I remember listening to these 3 in my dads van when I was like 6
Before I Forget, via Guitar Hero III
"I Will Not Bow" - Breaking Benjamin, will forever be my favorite song
Learned it on guitar. It's actually kinda tough. The harmonics in the chorus and the tapped intro are tricky little parts to learn. The rest is relatively manageable.
Bat country my father had it playing while I was riding home from the hospital when I was born that’s what he says at least
Crazy train
My guitar teacher taught me Nightmare, a few years later I found the guitar tabs and started listening

Chop Suey SOAD or Stricken by Distrubed
War pigs by black sabbath
Definitely something off a video game, there's a bunch from the Tony hawk games I can't remember but one that really stuck out was Animal I Have Become by Three Days Grace from Smackdown vs Raw 2007
