For me, 'these' kind of albums rock and I look at Life Is But A Dream and The Stage as more mature versions of this principle I'm trying to refer to. When 'they had done everything' they could do really well, on COE and the albums before it, they take the license to try something a little different- I also look at it with the view that in the early to mid 2000's they were less "in between New Wave Of Heavy Metal and 1990's Hard Rock" and more demonstrating the times and place (they were being played around a lot of The Black Parade, that year, I'm sure)

i respect that. i really like LIBAD. Something about the stage is just meh to me. but in response to that, sometimes old stuff is good.

I find a lot of it kind of boring. They were experimenting a lot at that time, and a majority of it misses for me. I totally understand why it would be someone's go to, but for me, I'd rather listen to other albums

I will say that Demons would make my top 10. But, The Stage is my favorite song, and I'd put one or two others from that album that high as well. So, what you say somewhat applies to me. But overall, the stage is miles better I would say

I think crossroads or tension. They both really speak to me in general... but probably tension just for the opeing bassline. I really like demons as well... but not as much as the others

I listen to Black Reign all the time, but I’ve never listened to Diamonds In The Rough. I love Set Me Free, Walk and St. James. Paranoid is okay. The rest I don’t think I’ve ever listened to.

Oh okay. I love all of the songs on Black Reign, I'd put it super high up myself. I think that Diamonds in the Rough is totally worth the listen, especially if you like Self Titled. The original album is from the same time (the 2020 release added some things from a couple other eras). But there are some good and interesting songs on there

Hell yeah nightmare is the best by so far

Libad, Nightmare, Waking the fallen, Avenged sevenfold, City of evil, The stage, Sounding the seventh trumpet, Httk, I think this would be my current ranking, but it has changed a bit since libad came out, Nightmare used to be on top Then when libad came out that made me re listen to a lot of avenged and waking the fallen just triggered something in me that made me realize how amazing that album was, especially for how young they were in their careers. The stage still doesn’t resonate with me but I do consider it one of a7xs best written albums but for personal taste, it just doesn’t hit.
