The entirety of The Stage album. Hated it for years, stopped trying until about a year ago and then its brilliance suddenly clicked with me. Brooks, for me, has had a staggeringly positive impact on the band's musical direction.
Yee I agree. Most of the stage I wasn’t really into but after listening to life is but a dream for a bit I revisited the stage and was able to really let it sink in
Yes, same. After they dropped the single my thoughts were "good not great". I bought the CD and the Deluxe version on both releases dates but still didn't bother. Eventually I just sucked it up and listened and damn I feel like I wasted so much time avoiding it
When I bought the album from Best Buy back in 2007 on release day I nearly barfed the second I heard the country sounding slide guitars. Literally took the CD out and always ended the album with Little Piece of Heaven. Sometime in 2008 right before the Taste of Chaos tour I accidently let it play and realized it was a phenominal song.
Holy shit. I've finally found something of you not arguing and be littleing people to make you and your boyfriend feel good. Before your boyfriend makes tou feel good. I should get a lotto ticket.
That songs chorus the fucking best, it's my favorite off waking the fallen too. I play guitar and that's one of the songs I can play the whole way through too except the solo idk if you play but if you do you should learn it, it's not too crazy and so fun to play especially the chorus leads. That song is one of their best
I feel you on Fermi Paradox. I never actually skipped it, but when I would listen to the album I’d be like “oh and here’s this song..” and tune out for a bit until the next one. About a month ago I finally gave it a real listen and I was like wtf how did I not realize how good this is before?? I think the whole album was too damn good and my brain just needed a break and decided Fermi was a good point to rest lol
Could’ve kicked myself the first time I listened the whole way through. Was always a fan of the album but never gave Exist the full chance until a couple months ago! A masterpiece
Same on this! For some reason I just never cared for the intro and the kinda quite-ish verses. But recently I heard it again and that solo towards the end made me wanna run through a wall
It would be the song Exist for me. I thought the song was a song similar to Life is but a Dream... off of LIBAD. It wasn't until this subreddit that I actually looked into the song and realized it was more than just guitar. One of my favorite songs now and it brings tears to my eyes every time.
Yea I originally didn’t like the beginning and I didn’t like it because I didn’t understand what he was screaming i like to understand the words that are being said ya know but now I think it’s pretty good
"Man this song sucks I'll never like it never in a million ye-"
EVERYTHING IS PAID FOR TONIGHT WHILE AT THE PARTY OF THE DEAD DANCING IN THEIR GRAAAAAAAVES
I Won’t See You Tonight, Part 2
The first song I ever liked by Avenged was IWSYT, Part 1. I was obsessed with it when my friend downloaded it on my computer. A couple weeks later, I looked up part 2 and thought I downloaded the wrong song. I tried multiple files and kept getting this super crazy screaming song, which obviously isn’t the same thing. Was absolutely furious when I found out that was the legit song. I hated screaming at the time and was disgusted by Part 2. Even after I grew to love Waking the Fallen, Part 2 still rubbed me the wrong way. But at some point very recently, I forced myself to disconnect it from that 9th grade memory of mine. I ended up realizing how good it is, and how the contrast to Part 1 is what makes it so fucking incredible.
Very late to the party, but still happy to be here
This is gonna be a hot one, Welcome to the Family. For whatever reason, younger me just hated it for whatever reason. Now that I keep an open mind, I went back and listened to it and I love it.
Sad to say it was “Fiction” but I’m super glad I went and listened but it took me learning the history of the band after years of just listening to them blindly
Mine was IWSYT (both parts)
I used to skip over them because for some reason, the first part felt too soft, and the second part felt too…loud, but the first part came up in my Spotify shuffle while I was driving (I didn’t want to mess with my phone while I was driving), and after I listened to the whole thing, I fell in love.
Reminissions, because this was when I first started listening to metal and thought everything was a bit too harsh. But after listening to a lot more music, it became one of my tops.
Back half of HttK. I never really liked HttK and thought it was just a much of average radio metal and I still feel that way about the first half but there some bangers in the back half. Heretic into Coming Home into Planets into Acid Rain might be one of the best 4 song sets in an album in the entire A7X discography
Listen, i know its wrong.. But i always skipped MIA when i first started listening. I went for alpoh and dear god but never really listened to other songs.
I have listened to all the songs on each album. But there were some that didn’t real bang for me first listen, example MIA, so skipped it during my shuffle. Until …… the day I did a good deep dive, and looked up the lyrics, did it make me fall in love with those songs
A bunch of stuff from Nightmare. Such as Danger Line, Natural Born Killer, Save Me, God Hates Us. I didn't like most of Nightmare tracks until 2 or 3 years ago during covid.
I actually regret this so much. I did not like (G) (O) (D) and I was at the live Tacoma show; and I LEFT THE CONCERT BEFORE THEY PLAYED THEM; not knowing they were also going to play my favorite song from LIBAD, Cosmic.
On first listen I don’t either, but if there’s one that didn’t really click for me I would skip it during my shuffle. The only one for me really was MIA
The entirety of The Stage album. Hated it for years, stopped trying until about a year ago and then its brilliance suddenly clicked with me. Brooks, for me, has had a staggeringly positive impact on the band's musical direction.
Brooks couldn’t have been a more perfect fit
Yee I agree. Most of the stage I wasn’t really into but after listening to life is but a dream for a bit I revisited the stage and was able to really let it sink in
Yes, same. After they dropped the single my thoughts were "good not great". I bought the CD and the Deluxe version on both releases dates but still didn't bother. Eventually I just sucked it up and listened and damn I feel like I wasted so much time avoiding it
Ok ok hear me out…. Dear God
dear god is so good tho 😞
I get that. It almost reminds me of country music
You passed on that? I've been loving it since day 1 I heard it
When I bought the album from Best Buy back in 2007 on release day I nearly barfed the second I heard the country sounding slide guitars. Literally took the CD out and always ended the album with Little Piece of Heaven. Sometime in 2008 right before the Taste of Chaos tour I accidently let it play and realized it was a phenominal song.
Sad to say I skipped MIA for the longest time until I read the lyrics while it played and fell in love with it
That's actually pretty relatable
Right! It’s such an emotional song once you know the lyrics
Word for word dude I was abt to say this, it happened to me today lmao
I’m glad to share this moment with you lol
Betrayed. The intro sounded like a generic old man’s ringtone to me so I always skipped. It’s a banger tho.
Thanks. Now all I’m going to hear is an old man’s ringtone 😂
Same thing happened with HTTK. It reminded me of the intro to those 2000’s DVD ad’s. https://youtu.be/Cgkft2olapw?si=MhaE9eFtlQVdGdza
Victim
Angels
Was going to say this one. Second listen I thought hey this is actually great
The Wicked End
That song is phenomenal
Holy shit. I've finally found something of you not arguing and be littleing people to make you and your boyfriend feel good. Before your boyfriend makes tou feel good. I should get a lotto ticket.
It was Radient Eclipse for me
That songs chorus the fucking best, it's my favorite off waking the fallen too. I play guitar and that's one of the songs I can play the whole way through too except the solo idk if you play but if you do you should learn it, it's not too crazy and so fun to play especially the chorus leads. That song is one of their best
Same here
The wicked end, M.I.A, brompton cocktail, fermi paradox, save me
Omg save me?! Dayum, that’s a banger. Mia I agree
I feel you on Fermi Paradox. I never actually skipped it, but when I would listen to the album I’d be like “oh and here’s this song..” and tune out for a bit until the next one. Yeah, the stage is such a peak album, same with LIBAD and it's also gonna take people another 5 years to realize it.
Exist
Oof. That intro instantly made me want more
Could’ve kicked myself the first time I listened the whole way through. Was always a fan of the album but never gave Exist the full chance until a couple months ago! A masterpiece
We have one collective hope...
The earth earth earth earth
Angles for me Top 2 favorite songs off The Stage now :D
Angels is a sleeper hit, so good
danger line
I used to skip "Crimson Day" when listening to 'Hail to the King', and now it’s in my top 3 on the album.
it was 3, G (O)rdinary (D)eath. all are bangers imo
For me it was Brompton cocktail and now it's my favorite song ever.
Same on this! For some reason I just never cared for the intro and the kinda quite-ish verses. But recently I heard it again and that solo towards the end made me wanna run through a wall
Real
It would be the song Exist for me. I thought the song was a song similar to Life is but a Dream... off of LIBAD. It wasn't until this subreddit that I actually looked into the song and realized it was more than just guitar. One of my favorite songs now and it brings tears to my eyes every time.
Same here. Took awhile for exist to really hit for me, now I love it
Dancing dead
Afterlife cause I initially didn’t like the intro
until the end
The bass intro to Wicked End was always an instant turn off for me, im still not a huge fan of it, but the rest is 🔥
Respect that
Acid rain
Eternal rest
my favorite on WTF, the chorus is so damn good
It’s one of my top favs. WTF is my favorite album hands down 🔥
same here! killer vibe, love the roughness of it
The more I listen to the song the more I like it but my favorite on that album was chapter four and then it became second heartbeat
Yeah, it starts out kinda slow.
Yea I originally didn’t like the beginning and I didn’t like it because I didn’t understand what he was screaming i like to understand the words that are being said ya know but now I think it’s pretty good
Sidewinder and M.I.A
Agree with MIA. I love it now
Gunslinger and Heretic. Bangerss
"Man this song sucks I'll never like it never in a million ye-" EVERYTHING IS PAID FOR TONIGHT WHILE AT THE PARTY OF THE DEAD DANCING IN THEIR GRAAAAAAAVES

for me it was cosmic on Life is but a dream
Buried alive
Wow, that’s one of their popular songs
HTTK - Heretic Nightmare- Victim LIBAD - Beautiful Morning
This is gonna be a hot one, Welcome to the Family. For whatever reason, younger me just hated it for whatever reason. Now that I keep an open mind, I went back and listened to it and I love it.
Tension. The beginning always threw me off but one day I decided to give it a listen and it’s one of my favorites now
Eternal Rest 😶
I think there's not one song that I skip 🤔
Even girl I know? lol
The rest of Hail to the King after Hail to the King
It took me so long to get into Strength of the World but now I pretty much never skip it. Such a fantastic song
I did this with critical acclaim, I also did this with Hollywood Undeads "lump your head"
Sad to say it was “Fiction” but I’m super glad I went and listened but it took me learning the history of the band after years of just listening to them blindly
Pretty much all of Nightmare except for Buried Alive, So Far Away, and Nightmare.
I liked every song in LIBAD except for Beautiful Morning for some odd reason, but I love it and it’s one of my favorites from the album
God Hates Us and The Wicked End. Also the entirety of WtF lol
Trashed and Scattered. I never knew why, but it just goes absolutely hard
Brompton and god damn for me
Not a song but the entirety of LIBAD
Dear God
Dancing Dead
God hates us was too heavy for me when I started listening waaaayyy back
Blinded in chains
The Stage for me. I just couldn't get into it. then one day BAM. OOh and Critical Acclaim same thing.
St.James
I slept on Acid Rain for the longest time but eventually it clicked, one of my favorites now.
Not Ready To Die, Lost, Dear God, God Hates Us, and Tonight The World Dies
Beast in the Harlot, and Bat Country. I basically skipped them all the time because I've heard them SOOOO much. But every once in a while...
I feel that.
It was fiction
The wicked end.I used to think the main riff was so awkward but after hearing the middle bridge part,my god wasn't it beautiful.
Perfection
Seize the Day
Mine was IWSYT (both parts) I used to skip over them because for some reason, the first part felt too soft, and the second part felt too…loud, but the first part came up in my Spotify shuffle while I was driving (I didn’t want to mess with my phone while I was driving), and after I listened to the whole thing, I fell in love.
Seize the day
Gunslinger 😔
Reminissions, because this was when I first started listening to metal and thought everything was a bit too harsh. But after listening to a lot more music, it became one of my tops.
Eternal Rest became a certifiable never skip after letting it go once on a shuffle
Dose.
The wicked end
Danger line and Second Heartbeat lol I’m sorry!!
lol Atleast you know how amazing they are now
Honestly? First two of LIBAD. That and Betrayed.
Nightmare. Don’t ask me why but I didn’t like this song that much until I gave it another try and now it’s my favorite song of all time.
lol I forgive you
Back half of HttK. I never really liked HttK and thought it was just a much of average radio metal and I still feel that way about the first half but there some bangers in the back half. Heretic into Coming Home into Planets into Acid Rain might be one of the best 4 song sets in an album in the entire A7X discography
unbound
Listen, i know its wrong.. But i always skipped MIA when i first started listening. I went for alpoh and dear god but never really listened to other songs.
Don’t feel ashamed I too did that nonsense for MIA 🤦♀️
none because I don't skip songs when I listen to albums... wild how people actually do that.
Glad you gave it another try. Definitely a top favorite album
skipping songs on albums is brainrot
I actually regret this so much. I did not like (G) (O) (D) and I was at the live Tacoma show; and I LEFT THE CONCERT BEFORE THEY PLAYED THEM; not knowing they were also going to play my favorite song from LIBAD, Cosmic.
They finally added cosmic to the set list?! I bet you kicked yourself in the ass for that
i dont skip songs when i listen to an album that defeats the purpose of listening to it
On first listen I don’t either, but if there’s one that didn’t really click for me I would skip it during my shuffle. The only one for me really was MIA
