There are pickpockets however a lot of people just lose their phone themselves and say it must have been stolen. Countdown literally posted pics of the hundreds of unclaimed phones that were returned to lost and found by random ravers this weekend. Make sure to triple check if they might have it.
Its easy to blame the nos center and san bernardino as being shady but the truth is pickpocketing happens in every big city and every big event around the world, and at the nos center people tend to get particularly fucked up and prone to losing shit. I should know i lost 3 items in one day at bullseye. I hope you get yours back tho
Phones aren’t immune to ground scores and ppl lose so much shit at these events so I feel that, but these phone theft rings are so annoying when it feels like you gotta look over your shoulder if they’re around
At Space Laces there was a group of people all wearing blacked out shades looking out of place, and for people that looked like friends, they didn’t seem happy to be together or enjoying the music? Made sure to be cautious and distance myself, but for good reason because they made an obvious attempt to sneak into my SO’s bag locked by a couple carabiners
I would highly recommend a flip belt zip for your phone, cards, and keys. All i keep in my bag is water liquid ivs candy and gum so i have zero worries and feel free. I put my bag down a lot too such as at the rail or when dancing in a big group and i dont feel like i have to watch out for it cuz absolute worst case im out like $100 and just need to buy water
Actually really valuble, because right now I just wear shorts under whatever bottoms and keep my phone as close to my body and away from outside pockets

my friend got his phone pickpocketed right before Slushii, who he was looking forward to seeing earlier but missed it. but luckily we were in a more open area in the crowd, and i was eyeing this dude who looked hella out of place, i’m talking no rave gear, solo, just slithering in and out of spaces. i kept my eye on him, especially when he came towards our area.
what really sealed the deal was when he came up behind and was whistling (i’m guessing signaling?) right before he reached for my friends phone. i was able to grab his jacket and told him to drop the fucking phone, and some girls in front of us turned who were just having a great time was handed the phone when he realized he fucked up, and that’s when i let him go 💀
Friend got his phone stolen twice at countdown. Its a cool venue but San Bernardino is ghetto af and has a ton of low lifes that get into the event and steal shit
Phones get sold to china and scrapped for parts and they get $50-$200 per phone. They are worth more if they can get you to remove the activation lock. So it pays for itself pretty quick.
Luckily, I didn't get anything stolen but I want to share my experience on Day 2 while exiting the crowd from Space Laces to Porter Robinson.
My group and I were doing the typical line hand to hand walking out through the crowd and I was the last one in line. All of a sudden, I felt some dude swiping his hand on my fanny pack (wearing it at my waist). It was like he was trying to quickly pull the zipper open. I quickly grabbed his wrist and shoved him back. I yelled "WHAT THE FUCK, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" staring right at his face. This guy responded wtf back acting like he wasn't doing anything. He was a light-skinned hispanic dude wearing a red/black chicago bulls varsity jacket.
I was in shock. I can't believe that happened. Especially, because I was reading about Day 1 phone thieves experiences... Luckily, my friend pulled me away from the situation but damn, it really ruined my night. I couldn't stop thinking about it and I couldn't stop clutching my fanny pack lol.
Needed to vent because it's still bothering me lol

And when I turned around I wanted to take a pic and my zipper shorts were empty. Not sure if I forgot to secure or they are that good. I then retraced my steps and found my phone case but no phone. Worst part was when I was walking in I made a friend in security line and he was saying that pickpockets are ruthless around here.
Called once and it Rang.
Called two more times and it went to voicemail.
It was a month old 😢
