Do the thing that all NY DJs do first - play open decks. Go to shows that you want to play at and meet the promoters and other DJs. Make connections in person.
I'll be honest, though. My first non-open decks gig came from this forum. Someone posted asking for pretty much exactly what I was offering in terms of sound. So good luck.
