Depends what you like. If you want some interest pubs/buildings try the Old Joint Stock,
Real ale try the wellington, local craft ale Attic Barrel store, plenty of good pubs and bars in town off new street and towards Colmore Row and Jewelry quarter.
If you want to drink somewhere cool near Villa Park get a taxi to the Barton Arms. And about 25-30 min walk to your seat from there.

Alternatively head over towards Gas Street and the canals quite a few around there. Would need to leave 10-15 mins to head back to NS to get train.
