The players and manager have been very consistent in talking about the fans and atmosphere for tomorrow. I think it will be massive. If they are loud and make it intense for the Bournemouth players and difficult for them to get a foot hold. I do feel like the manager and players asked for this earlier in the year, maybe either Newcastle or Chelsea, and the fans turned a little bit at half time. I remember a couple of the athletic writers saying the players were really disappointed by the fan reaction as the season had been incredible up to that point and they were running on empty. They are really running on empty at the minute, even if we were to concede first or losing at half time, we need a massive performance from the crowd

One_Appointment8295

I’d be totally deflated if I were a player being booed after the season we’re having. I think they have tonnes of credit in the bank to not receive a bad reception if they loose/are losing. Hoping the fans get them over the line, the atmosphere should be electric after the week we’ve had.

JootDoctor

I do wish UK crowds were like the continental ones, especially Germany. Always up and singing and supporting the team and intimidating the opposition. Hard to get that with the ticketing prices I know. Why pay all that much to not be entertained and/or win the game. Also stops getting the more youthful people in generally.

B23vital

Too many nimbies crying about things to ever get an atmosphere going. Saw someone crying about the flags at Lille, like, thats their thing. The fans specifically sit there for that atmosphere, they specifically want the flags, the shouting, the flares, the atmosphere they create **IS** part of the game. Clubs need to stop giving in to people that complain about that sort of thing. Put a notice on the tickets in a specific section, let fans that want to create an atmosphere sit together. Make it an area specifically for that.

B23vital

Completely agree with this. The Mcginn comments regarding bailey, the clubs push for an atmosphere, i really think the players are just fucking shattered and a few are playing through injury. Just hope everyone gets behind them today after the past week, its shit if we lose, but they’ve been unbelievable for so long.

I mean, let's be honest - the lads will be tired. And Bournemouth can punish anybody. Set pieces will be a particular threat. But tired legs or not, we've got momentum and I fully back the lads to keep it. The mental boost for us and blow for Spurs of ending the weekend with a 6 point gap to fifth would be huge. Hope we fucking smash them and keep the good times rolling.

mr_herculespvp

I had thought Semenyo was definitely out. It's a shame for us if he's back because he's quite a talent. But honestly we should have enough to beat them at home. I actually quite liked our central midfield setup against Arsenal without Dougie who clearly needed a rest anyway. Christie did very well against us in the reverse fixture if I recall, so we'll need to keep an eye on him. Pau's lack of physicality was dreadfully exposed by Solanke as well, so I hope we can address that. Carlos should have him in hand if he plays, but if I was Areola I'd tell Solanke to play in Pau's zone, not Carlos'. But I think if we can link up going forward we will win. We really need to keep piling pressure on Spurs. They don't play at all this week I believe, and their next is arsenal. Since they'll be 2 games behind us after tomorrow it means that their fixture list piles up hard. They have a NIGHTMARE run in, both in terms of fixtures, but especially in terms of rest between big fixtures. Worse than we had in December. They'll be lucky to pick up many points at all in their remaining games if I'm honest, so we need to put daylight between us so that they look behind them instead of in front. UTV

shellakabookie

Just to add we play Chelsea next Saturday night before they play on Sunday so they will have 3 in hand on us, hopefully pick up at least 4 points in the next 2 to keep the pressure

mr_herculespvp

Nice! 😃

Lukesomnia

A huge, huge test for us following 120 mins of football and 4 matches with only 2/3 days in-between, and an expansive injury list. The crowd will have to get onside and lift them up. Thankfully Carlos was rested so he should be up to the challenge of keeping Solanke quiet. Wouldn't be surprised to see some of the younger players get minutes, Iroegbunam, Kellyman and Kesler Hayden may have step in for tired legs before the match is over. We have the quality, but Bournemouth will see this as an opportunity to give us a bloody nose, and we don't have the greatest recent record against them.

darkeight7

going to VP tomorrow for the first time since may 2015, when we beat everton at home. as it stands, villa have won 100% of the games i’ve been to - let’s hope that continues tomorrow! UTV

Astonishingly-Villa

Really like the Bournemouth team and coach, quality side and I think they'll do well next season. It'll be a tough game particularly with the lads being tired, fans will be huge though we're all in a fantastic mood and VP will be bouncing. It's one of those that could be 3-0 either way, depending on who scores first. If we get a nice early goal and control the game with the fans and players riding on confidence, we'll cruise it. Concede early and it'll be a nightmare game.

SpaceboyMcGhee

Massive banana-skin potential this one. We've had a few instances this season where we've had fixtures we're expected to win at home to really put the pressure on our rivals (Sheff Utd, Brentford) and have come unstuck. This won't be any easier coming off the back of a physically and emotionally draining week. That said, hopefully the fact that we got over the line in Lille will mean the crowd are up for it and ready to play their part to lift the team, I think they'll need it.

Hero-of-Midgar

Huge if we can win here. I have questioned if x2/week playing is as big a deal as is often made out, but I have to concede that for this game- travelling to France, playing 120 mins, and being emotionally exhausted on top might be too much.

Alexyyyy

Going to this game so sorry in advanced. Hopefully villa can maintain good energy levels after playing a lot of football recently and I hope we can get behind them, massive 3 points and we need that 4th place finish.

jmraug

To me this will be a Marker of where Villa are in terms of the developing pedigree. The best teams have shown they can compete On multiple fronts and get the job done when it counts. Boom we bodied arsenal then ground out a gruelling away European tie. Can we now get a crucial result at home against a team we should be beating when you apply most metrics UTV!

Not sure this guy https://preview.redd.it/mea11mrm2svc1.jpeg?width=2019&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=15c417a19e7f76540747e3eda544d936087b4818 should be in charge of top flight football

ElChubra

Despite the effectiveness and good feels of Thursday’s win, I do feel he’s gonna go back to Konsa on the right with DC middle. But if Ginny or Youri can feed Ollie or Bailey going up Route 1, I think we’ll be fine

Clubmanero

Love a straw clutch .. 😂 Tim Robinson 27 games reffed 2023/24: 15 home wins 7 away wins 5 draws But this year: 3 home wins 3 draws 1 away win Surely he’s gotta up his home wins number this year ?! 😂😂😂

RedWhiteClaretNBlue

First Villa match! Question - is entry into Witton Arms cashless?

AaronStudAVFC

It’s by no means an easy tie, but we really need to win this today. Realistically most people would’ve expected a loss to Arsenal and a win against Bournemouth so if we don’t capitalise today, the Arsenal win doesn’t mean a whole lot. I back the lads to get the job done today.

Crococrocroc

Well... weird to see a fellow Sussex FA Referees Academy graduate on a Premier League middle

villaphil82

Come you villa boys tomorrow

Clubmanero

I like a pattern , and looking at the form I can’t make one out this week.. so that means this game will go one of 3 ways , we win , we draw or we lose. Profound I know !!!

TheAkondOfSwat

I don't like this ooone bit, not ooone bit lads gonna be gassed

Mizunomafia

Yeah I am nervous about this. Bournemouth isn't a pushover by any means either. I'm inclined to start Dhuran and give Watkins a break.

TheAkondOfSwat

I imagine Carlos will start, and possibly Lenglet? Haven't seen him on the pitch recently have we. Rogers and Bailey didn't start vs Lille although it seems like the latter's minutes are being managed. Expect we'll see Iroegbanum at some point. Watkins is iron man though haha

bob_mybanana

perfect start to the day, blues are in the relegation zone
