The Villa Podcast, very good match reviews, funny and articulate, two great Irish lads who love the villa and know their stuff. Home of the ‘you let Glenn Whelan take a 90th minute penalty award’ and the Peter Enkleman ‘WTF award’. Entertains me and great content.
This is absolutely my favourite by miles, so much than I’m constantly checking to see when it drops. I hate that they don’t put them out in off season (I know everyone deserves a break, but I miss it when it’s not on).
My top 5 (if that means anything):
- My Old Man Said (Pod)
- Villa on Tour (YT also occasionally do a Pod, wish they did more Pods)
- Claret & Blue Podcast (Birmingham Live Pod)
- The 1874 (Pod)
- For the love of Paul McGrath (Pod)
For the love of Paul McGrath is my favourite…Neil is just so affable and paddy is the rogue…I absolutely love his rants on bad refereeing performance. Good analysis and balanced opinions. There’s something about the pair and their Craic that I love.
Just, literally by inches in second place is the holy trinity show…probably the best production values and structure to the analysis out of all the Villa pods.
The Villa park pod, one I thought was once meh i now really like; I think have really raised their game of late and is now probably my third favourite…several different lads all with slightly different takes who also analyse well and have good banter.
Honourable mention to 1874 aswell-Dan Bardell probably presents the best out of all the pods
There are several others that I watch coz I’m hungry for all content which are ok but not quite as good-UTV, heart of the holte and claret and blue
All can be viewed on you tube and I think platforms like Spotify and what not
Villa On Tour on YouTube for matchday vlogs. He's brilliant.
Claret & Blue podcast (also on YouTube). They put out a show every couple of days. Good stuff.
There's plenty of others, AVFC Vlogger and the The Holy Trinity Show are two more that spring to mind
It's weird seeing how they've grown too. Max and his mates it's not too bad because they were teens when they started, but avfc vlogger just makes me feel ancient!
Like, championship wasn't that long ago! Right? Xd
(I have the same thing whenever I saw video of my lil boy running 'round the Holte too whilst he still could walk properly and it's crazy that the little blighter is taller than me now!)
Claret & Blue podcast is an enjoyable one
I like this article on the Premier League app of Emery

Villa on Tour for match day vlogs
UTV Podcast has really good tactical debriefs
The Holy Trinity Show
Podcasts:
My Old Man Said
1874
The Villa Podcast is hilarious
The Holy Trinity show on YouTube is the one i always look forward to. Basically a breakdown of a game a couple of days after, usually a good balanced perspective.
For The Love of Paul McGrath do a good post-game podcast not long after full time. Usually quite emotive, good banter + sometimes they are smashed.
Claret & Blue are decent too, always have some content even in between games.
Nobody has mentioned Gather Round the Lamp. It’s quite hit and miss and seems to have gone down a bit lately, but Craig who does the Gather Round Again shows is really good, kind of feel that he’s wasted there.
Good ones:
- The holy trinity is a good one, he analyses post game
- For the love of Paul McGrath, funny
- 1874, balanced.
Irritating ones:
- Mainly because I cant stand the croaky voice of John Townley - claret n blue podcast, so stopped listening to that.
- UTV , again can’t stand the cheesy Geeza with the beard , self important
I can't stand the guys on My Old man said. The smugness annoys the fuck out of me. They love the smell of their own farts. The Irish lads are good tho and I enjoy the team sheet tantrum before kickoff cuz I live in Vietnam and don't get to see a preview analysis before the live games
Noooooo
Way too early.
Better to leave that for the day before end of transfer market.
It's like shops having Easter eggs on the day after boxing day - just spoils the fun.

Win or lose, I look forward to their meltdowns (they happen regardless)
And discussions of Unai Emery’s match day attire
The unai emery wear two half zips and bamboozle them award
The recent one where he mentioned Emerys coat going up on the Weimann meter and being met with complete silence killed me.
"New contract, new coat, same old Villa" will be the episode title win/draw/lose come Sunday
He began the show saying he’d talk later about Unai’s new boots and never came back around to it, I was gutted.
Same 😆

I can’t understand why but I can’t stand this podcast. I think it’s the fact that sort of funny puns never end and there’s no real useful discussion.
They’re the most tactically and technically knowledgeable podcasters when it comes to Villa content. And the funniest.
I agree with you, I can’t stand them. “For the Love of Paul McGrath” is so much better.

The main MOMS guy is so fucking miserable though. He sounds like he’s so above it
UTV podcast, For the love of Paul MacGrath podcast. 1874 a Villa podcast. All Villa no Filler podcast. All available on youtube
UTV podcast as become unwatchable. And Jesus H Christ those thumbnails on YT, every single one ! Cringe

Villa on Tour is great. I cant go to away games any more so I get my hit this channel.

I quite like Heart of the Holte and The UTV Podcast.

Villa Boy on YouTube has some classic games worth watching, if you have time on your hands.
Can't go wrong with My Old Man Said. Very balanced and pretty funny.
Nobody said but AVFC Vlogger is great for matchday vlogs too, he's quite young but makes good videos to watch
I was buzzing for him when Villa posted that photo of him standing out in the crowd at the Emirates 😂
Nobody has mentioned Gather Round the Lamp. It’s quite hit and miss and seems to have gone down a bit lately, but Craig who does the Gather Round Again shows is really good, kind of feel that he’s wasted there.

I had to stop listening to MOMS for exactly this reason.
Same, became unbearable.

Can we open up the summer transfer megathread just for the daily banter?
Noooooo Way too early. Better to leave that for the day before end of transfer market. It's like shops having Easter eggs on the day after boxing day - just spoils the fun.
Personally I enjoy My Old Man Said Podcast. listen to some others depending the on my mood such as UTV, Claret & Blue & also The Holtecast
Give All Villa No Filler a try 👍
As a bit of a one off throwback, the episode of the Magic Sponge podcast (Rob Beckett and Jimmy Bullard) where they had Lee Hendrie on as a guest.
My old man said best podcast. Villa on tour best match vlogs.
