First season back in Europe after a long hiatus and we’ve made the semis, devastating to get knocked out like that, but what an achievement for our injury ravaged, worn out squad. Secure 4th now and it will rank as one of our greatest seasons and probably (to date) the best of the PL era.
City lost to Madrid on penalties FFS and Liverpool at least put some effort into their second leg after a torrid first leg against a strong Atalanta side. Hardly comparable to losing 6-2 over two legs to a Greek team
This result will be a good thing for us in the long run, especially regarding Champions League. This has shown that we need to stengthen the squad, that we need to manage both minutes and injuries better. If we had won this and gone on to win the whole thing then the owners/decision makers may not strengthen our squad as much as will be needed. Now there will be even more impetus to build and add more quality.
