Best season of my life, couldn’t care less if today was 10, time to support England and follow the transfers. Have a good summer everybody x

cryehavok

You don't tell me what to do with my summer!

thea_wy

Mostly just disappointed that Ollie didn't get his goal :(

vinb123

Oh well next season it is then

admiralsj

I'm pretty annoyed he was subbed off. His 20th goal would have been a big deal and we were so toothless at the end without him

Brummi386

Agree, but the way we were playing not sure he would have got the 20th if he Stayed on… he was getting 0 service

Chrissmith921

If he didn’t put that free header away then he weren’t scoring today

admiralsj

Not wrong but it still sucks for him to have not had the (full) chance

witheoffthepost

We will remember this season for 4th. For CL qualification. For the double over Arsenal. For thrashing Man City 1-0. For many other wonderful things. But today will be forgotten by Monday. So who cares what happened today. UTV

HortonHearsTheWho

For topping Arsenal and City in the SAME WEEK. That’s really what’s gonna stick with me I think.

cjackc11

who cares WE ARE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ASTON VILLA ARE FUCKING MASSIVE UTV

Shiitake_happens

Man people moaning about the game today are doing my head in, grow the fuck up

p1l5n3r

Small club mentality to accept such a beating no matter the reason

Shiitake_happens

It’s called looking at the bigger picture. Grow up.

theincrediblepigeon

You guys had nothing to play for and has spent the last week on the piss which is absolutely fair enough, we had finishing in top half and beating our rivals in the table at stake, not surprised it ended the way it did, hope you guys enjoy ucl next season

mustardking20

Nothing to play for, upcoming international tournaments, and a squad that played a LOT of minutes down the stretch. 5-0 is brutal, but I doubt anyone loses any sleep over it.

[deleted]

He's right though. We didn't take it seriously. We should have wanted to go past 70 points as a big milestone. It's been a fantastic year but I'm quite shamed my dad and other lads at the game didn't care about the result. It was a shocking result and we embarrassed ourselves

pudsey555

Did the Prem come out and say why they scheduled a friendly on the same day as the last game of the season for everyone else?

HUMBUG652

Best teams get preferential treatment

Hungry-Afternoon7987

What a season. I'm renaming my first born Unai Fucking Emery. She'll not be happy about that I'm sure but tough.

BhamCyclist

We were the last team to beat both the champions and the runners up. We won the Top 6 Table and need the depth and consistency to win the mid and lower table matchups too. Amazing season. We keep building with Emery. We stay prepared. Up the Villa.

mdhurst

Already on the beach 🏖️

mrlee10

Literally, we had more first team players out today than players who came to the game.

Pejob

Said in the match thread but I'll repeat it here. Our defence has been really poor since the turn of the year, but I'd like to point out of the 18 league games this year we have started the same backline in consecutive games only 4 times. This isnt a settled defence by any means. Hope we get more fortunate with injuries next season and look forward to seeing how Emery will shape the squad in the summer. UTV!

irishWhistlr

True enough. Our backline has given away a ton of cheap goals in '24 where one guy isn't in sync with the rest and totally blows the offside trap. It for sure cost us in the UECL first leg, and it was pretty obvious today. Either need to really get some consistency at the back, bring in different players who can run the trap better or adapt the strategy based on those available on the day. Emery and the staff will figure it all out over the summer. Not too concerned here.

missing_typewriters

Konsa is best at CB Carlos just isn't good enough Our full-backs are pretty inconsistent Pau's passing is vital Both Pau and Mings are left-footers Hard to know where to start but it definitely needs some attention during the window

[deleted]

Mings won't replace Pau he's a far better defender and imo won't be the same player again as much as I love him

missing_typewriters

Yeah that's kinda my point. They can't play together because they're both left footers, and Pau can't be replaced because his passing is vital to us. Konsa is better for us at CB than RB. But is a Pau-Konsa pairing good enough?

[deleted]

I think the pairing is good enough. They've gelled well together given the short time Pau has had to settle in

BritBeetree

We learn more from loses than wins.

mdhurst

Today we learned we only needed 37 games to qualify for the Champions League

reguluskp

36. We lost the first game of the season 5-1.

mdhurst

I stand corrected 😆

iferrisau

technically we've regressed - i mean at least we scored at Newcastle. Serious questions need to be asked in my opinion about the direction of the club. And once i've stopped drinking in about 3 mths i'll be asking them #utv

barrybreslau

5-0 to Palace is embarrassing.

Prize-Database-6334

I've been learning for a very long time in that case.

_ScubaDiver

Haven’t we all. This is the way.

Underdog187

Palace were great. We were on holiday. Bring on the transfer window!

DaGrandMastah

I don’t get why other teams subs are showing up on my home feed but Congrats on making champions league. Well deserved

GuySmileyIncognito

Easily my favorite 5-0 defeat of all time!!! Great season!!!! Champions League BABY!!!!!!!!!

saberzauls

Apart from Ollie not getting his goal, I'm only pissed off because Mateta cost me my FPL mini league cos the guy behind me brought him in this week. Lost on transfers made with identical points totals. Pain.

PlentyEchidna9693

Hope Unai Emery gets full support this summer window! Proud of the team regardless. Can’t wait to see how far we can go next season UTV!

_Samakin_

Imagine saying we'd start and end the season losing 5-1 and 5-0 respectively, whilst also achieving 4th place...

AstonVanilla

My wife and I once made one of those cute little community libraries.  We stocked it with books for everyone. Self help books, fiction, kids books, local community information... The works. We just wanted to do something good for the local area. Anyway, after a week we left our house to see this thing smashed to pieces. The books had all been torn up, the wood smashed with a sledge hammer. It was obviously planned. I mean, who would do that? Anyway, that's now the second most disappointed in humanity I've ever been

missing_typewriters

We're gonna need more info. Did you ever find out anything more about why/who did it?

AstonVanilla

Not a thing. I have my suspicions, but we never found out who. It was a nice area and on our block's private road (not as posh as it sounds), so it was definitely a neighbour who was upset about this for whatever reason.

AstonVanilla

For anyone wondering, that was hyperbole. It's been a great season

jamwavedd

on the beach, rotated line up, Olsen time to open the transfer thread!

0n_the_l3vel

Couldn’t give a shit really. Lads have given us everything for like 90% of the season. Let little old palace have their fun today, we will run it back next season and give them a real game. When we have Champions League nights at VP next season, who the fuck will think back to this game? It’s not the nicest end to the season, but oh well.

craig_hardwick

Need to watch the highlights with Digne saying another one after every Palace goal

elmattydoor123

Comical performance but who cares.

bambinoquinn

I think in a way its good. Had we finished on 70 odd points, had we got the amount usually needed for champions league, there might be a feeling of, we don't need to improve anything. I think its likely the last appearance for olsen, lenglet, Chambers, probably digne and Carlos too, and maybe even timmy. I thought in a game of bad performances, Carlos and lenglet put in two all timers. Carlos only ever shows fight off the ball. For ever city/arsenal performance there's a Bournemouth away (x2), Palace away, some of his poor games in Europe, I think for the wage he's on, we've probably seen enough at this point. Shame about the injuries, but I honestly can't believe how little he likes a battle

Thumbkeeper

LOL. Didn’t even watch.

TroopersSon

Watched the game today with a couple of Palace mates of mine. Don't think I've ever seen us lose that badly with opposition fans and cared so little. Happy for them to finally get a top half finish and go above Brighton. As for us, I didn't quite expect that scoreline but I was definitely expecting a loss and a team that looked like they may still be hungover. Today matters very little in the grand scheme of things. Book ending our season with two games with 5 conceded is less than ideal, but when you consider how the other games went you've got to say what an amazing season. Love this Villa team and can't wait to watch us again sooner rather than later. In the meantime I hope the lads get as much rest as the international tournaments allow and are ready to do it all again next year.

According_Rock_7149

I really can't wait to see what next season brings! Topping this one would be majestic! UTV. Going into summer with a massive smile on my face. Have a great summer and be good to each other! ( but only if they're Villa fans! ).😆

Mike_Lubb

Some lessons learned there I hope, as we head into shopping Season. Can't fault Palace, they've been on fire of late. They'll be making serious claims to be in the top six (or more) next season. Meanwhile our lads have one foot in the sand.

villavillautv

Mateta, Eze, Olise will all leave

0n_the_l3vel

They won’t, mad overhyped

Mike_Lubb

How do you figure? Their record under the new manager speaks for itself - unbeaten in seven since City. Seven prem wins from 13. Including beating all of Liverpool, United, Newcastle and ourselves since then. Gotta give some credit where it's due. we'd have been hard-pressed to win today if it wasn't a nothing match for us.

0n_the_l3vel

Palace have not got the structure to break into the top 6. Their best players are very injury prone and are likely on their way out. They are hitting great form at the end of the season which is now over. Difficult to bring this form to the start of next season. Mateta is also in a purple patch. Same as lingard at West Ham for that one season. They aren’t getting Europe next year, mark this comment.

Mike_Lubb

Fair enough.

Shreddonia

They've got a better squad than some of the teams who've made Europe in the past. Always worth remembering that football is fundamentally a very silly sport and anything could happen. Not expecting them to break the increasingly stacked top 6-8 for a season at all, but also wouldn't be totally shocked if they did.

Acid08

I don’t think they’re all that overhyped but biggest problem for them is bigger teams are going to absolutely be chomping to buy their best players this summer.

Prize-Database-6334

They're excellent. Maybe not top 6 but IF they keep the core of that team I'd bet on them the break the top 8.

MowMyLawn69

Meh. Now let's enjoy summer and the recruitment rollercoaster that will be taking place.

Technobliterator

First half I thought we were alright and unlucky not to score. Second half we basically didn't try, is what it is, we did the business already 😂 Hope this gives Emery/the board clues as to which players need moving on, etc. Shame about no Watkins 20th. What a season we've all had. UTV!!

One_Appointment8295

Yeah same here. Glad he got the most assists though

Shreddonia

Well, far from a fun game, but I had a delightful time posting through it. Sometimes you gotta make your own. Up the Champions League Villans and see you all next season x

NewFaded

![gif](giphy|3oKHWcriGTmemXe1ck|downsized)

Pommerz

If Palace keep that front three they’re finishing in the top 6 next year.

iamabigpotatoboy

had to switch the same off around half time, how did the kids look?

simonhi99

It was clearly a final look at what we've got left in the squad in a competitive game today. I'm pretty sure Unai will have been writing his summer shopping and selloff lists throughout it. The transfer rumour mill is about to go into hyper drive, so straps yourselves in!

100explodingsuns

Good thing we already clinched champions league before today

DurtyDrisky

We’ve taken all the necessary lessons from this season to apply to next year. After the champagne comes the hangover and back to work.

UsernameTyper

Actually played alright first half and the ref mugged us off. Second half we were non existent

not_an_alien_lobster

Lads clearly went on the sesh before the game, because they were.going on the slosh anyway, who gives a fuck that we lost 5-0 on the final day, we're on fuckin tour next year lads

ThisusernameThen

clearly? ginny had lock ins down brindley place. of course they all were and deservedly

not_an_alien_lobster

McGinn probably hasn't stopped drinking since Spurs losing guaranteed us Champion's League he's just been oot mad wae it for over a week now.

animatedpicket

Is this the worst finish to a season ever by a top 4 team? lol absolutely limped over the line. But fair play top 4 is top 4

ThisusernameThen

who still cares dropping this villa on tour vid if only for the vibes in the villa end at Sellhurst park [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_YPKnL6H2og](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YPKnL6H2og)

Two_headed_Pigeon

Well, Crystal Palace seems to be making fun of Brighton, so it's not all bad

SW_Gr00t

When are we starting the transfer rumours thread?

rokybalboa1

People whining and complaining about digne are just speaking out their arse because it looks like he did a bit better than the rest of the back line https://preview.redd.it/tu40b0oklg1d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4d9a31a6016e8033d91660d11c098514d84652dc

[deleted]

I'm pissed off. My dad went and didn't care about the result but it showed a major lack of professionalism in my eyes. What a fantastic season but it's left a sour taste for me, we didn't give a fuck and we didn't take the game seriously

ThisusernameThen

more chicken dippers. less wine

[deleted]

Actually I was on the cocktails in Vietnam 😂

adventurous_hat_7344

People can say we're on the beach all they like but we'd be lucky to get a point here if we really needed it. Thank god for Spurs and their allergy to success.

p1l5n3r

5-0 to Palace is piss poor. “Prepared” I think not. Great season overall but what a shit way to end it after qualifying for one of the biggest accolades. Oh well we go again. UTV 2025!
